2 UDB वहाँ उसने मैदान में एक कुआँ देखा। वहाँ कुएँ के पास भेड़ों के तीन झुण्ड थे। यही वह कुआँ था जहाँ ये भेड़ें जल पीती थी। वहाँ एक बड़े पत्थर से कुएँ का मुँह ढँका हुआ था। BSB BSB: He looked and saw a well in the field, and near it lay three flocks of sheep, because the sheep were watered from this well. And a large stone covered the mouth of the well.
3 UDB जब सब चरवाहे अपनी भेड़ों को लेकर वहाँ आते थे तब वे सब एकजुट होकर उस पत्थर को हटाते थे और अपनी भेड़ों के लिए जल निकालते थे और फिर से उस पत्थर को कुएँ पर रख देते थे। BSB BSB: When all the flocks had been gathered there, the shepherds would roll away the stone from the mouth of the well and water the sheep. Then they would return the stone to its place over the mouth of the well.
4 UDB उस दिन, याकूब ने उन चरवाहों से पूछा जो वहाँ बैठे थे," तू लोग कहाँ के हो?" उन्होंने उत्तर दिया, "हम हारान देश के हैं।" BSB BSB: “My brothers,” Jacob asked the shepherds, “where are you from?” “We are from Haran,” they answered.
5 UDB उसने उनसे पूछा, "क्या आप नाहोर के पोते लाबान को जानते हो?" उन्होंने उत्तर दिया, "हाँ, हम उसे जानते हैं।" BSB BSB: “Do you know Laban the grandson of Nahor?” Jacob asked. “We know him,” they replied.

Then we will water the sheep.”
9 UDB वह अभी उनके साथ बात कर ही रहा था, तब राहेल अपने पिता की भेड़ों के साथ आई। वही अपने पिता की भेड़ों को संभालती थी। BSB BSB: While he was still speaking with them, Rachel arrived with her father’s sheep, for she was a shepherdess.
10 UDB राहेल, लाबान की बेटी और याकूब की माता के भाई की पुत्री, और लाबान की भेड़ों को देख कर उसने अकेले ही कुएँ के ऊपर से पत्थर हटा दिया और अपने मामा की भेड़ों के लिए जल निकाला। BSB BSB: As soon as Jacob saw Rachel, the daughter of his mother’s brother Laban, with Laban’s sheep, he went up and rolled the stone away from the mouth of the well and watered his uncle’s sheep.

16 UDB लाबान की दो पुत्रियाँ थीं। बड़ी का नाम लिआ था और छोटी का राहेल। BSB BSB: Now Laban had two daughters; the older was named Leah, and the younger was named Rachel.
17 UDB लिआ की सुंदर आँखें थीं लेकिन राहेल रूपवती और आकर्षक थी। BSB BSB: Leah had weak eyes, but Rachel was shapely and beautiful.
18 UDB याकूब राहेल से प्रेम करता था इसलिए उसने कहा, "मैं तेरे लिए सात वर्ष तक काम करूँगा और उसके बाद तू मुझे अपनी पुत्री राहेल से विवाह करने की अनुमति देगा, यही मेरा वेतन होगा।" BSB BSB: Since Jacob loved Rachel, he answered, “I will serve you seven years for your younger daughter Rachel.”
19 UDB लाबान ने उत्तर दिया, "यह मेरे लिए अच्छा है कि तू उससे विवाह करे इसके कि वह किसी और पुरूष से विवाह करे। इसलिए हमारे साथ यहाँ रह।" BSB BSB: Laban replied, “Better that I give her to you than to another. Stay here with me.”
20 UDB याकूब ने राहेल को पाने के लिए सात वर्ष लाबान के पास काम किया परन्तु वे सात वर्ष उसके लिए ऐसे बीत गए जैसे कुछ ही दिन हो क्योंकि वह राहेल को बहुत प्रेम करता था। BSB BSB: So Jacob served seven years for Rachel, yet it seemed but a few days because of his love for her.
21 UDB सात वर्ष समाप्त होने के बाद याकूब ने लाबान से कहा, "अब मेरा विवाह राहेल से करा दे क्योंकि तेरे पास काम करने का समय जो हमने तय किया था, वह पूरा हो गया है और मैं अब राहेल से विवाह करना चाहता हूँ।" BSB BSB: Finally Jacob said to Laban, “Grant me my wife, for my time is complete, and I want to sleep with her.”

24 UDB (लाबान ने अपनी दासी जिल्पा को पुत्री लिआ की दासी होने के लिए दिया।) BSB BSB: And Laban gave his servant girl Zilpah to his daughter Leah as her maidservant.

BSB BSB: When morning came, there was Leah! “What have you done to me?” Jacob said to Laban. “Wasn’t it for Rachel that I served you? Why have you deceived me?”
26 UDB लाबान ने उत्तर दिया, "हमारे देश में छोटी पुत्री का विवाह बड़ी पुत्री से पहले करने की परंपरा नहीं है। BSB BSB: Laban replied, “It is not our custom here to give the younger daughter in marriage before the older.
27 UDB उत्सव के इस सप्ताह के पूरा हो जाने के बाद हम तेरा विवाह छोटी पुत्री के साथ करा देंगे परन्तु तुझे राहेल के लिए मेरे साथ सात वर्ष और काम करना होगा।" BSB BSB: Finish this week’s celebration, and we will give you the younger one in return for another seven years of work.”
28 UDB याकूब ने यही किया और जब एक सप्ताह का उत्सव बीत गया। तब लाबान ने अपनी पुत्री राहेल को भी उसे उसकी पत्नी के रूप में दिया। BSB BSB: And Jacob did just that. He finished the week’s celebration, and Laban gave him his daughter Rachel as his wife.
29 UDB लाबान ने अपनी दासी बिल्हा को राहेल की दासी के रूप में भी दिया। BSB BSB: Laban also gave his servant girl Bilhah to his daughter Rachel as her maidservant.
31 UDB जब यहोवा ने देखा कि याकूब लिआ से अधिक प्रेम नहीं करता। इसलिए यहोवा ने लिआ को गर्भवती होने में सक्षम बनाया। लेकिन राहेल गर्भवती होने में सक्षम नहीं रही। BSB BSB: When the LORD saw that Leah was unloved, He opened her womb; but Rachel was barren.
32 UDB लिआ ने एक पुत्र को जन्म दिया, जिसको रूबेन नाम दिया गया। उसने कहा, "यहोवा ने मेरे कष्टों को देखा है। जिनसे मैं दुखी हूँ, इसलिए परमेश्वर ने मुझे एक पुत्र दिया है मेरा पति मुझसे प्रेम करेगा क्योंकि मैंने उन्हें एक पुत्र दिया है।" BSB BSB: And Leah conceived and gave birth to a son, and she named him Reuben, for she said, “The LORD has seen my affliction. Surely my husband will love me now.”
33 UDB कुछ समय बाद वह फिर से गर्भवती हुई और एक और पुत्र को जन्म दिया। उसने कहा, "यहोवा ने देखा कि मेरा पति मुझसे प्रेम नहीं करता है इसलिए उसने मुझे एक और पुत्र दिया है।" इसलिए उसने उसका नाम शिमोन रखा अर्थात "कोई सुनता है।" BSB BSB: Again she conceived and gave birth to a son, and she said, “Because the LORD has heard that I am unloved, He has given me this son as well.” So she named him Simeon.

Then Leah stopped having children.
