1 UDB कनान में अकाल और भी अधिक भयंकर हो गया। BSB BSB: Now the famine was still severe in the land.
2 UDB आखिरकार, जब याकूब के परिवार में अन्न समाप्त हो गया तब याकूब ने अपने पुत्रों से कहा, "मिस्र जाकर हमारे लिए और अन्न ले आओ।" BSB BSB: So when Jacob’s sons had eaten all the grain they had brought from Egypt, their father said to them, “Go back and buy us a little more food.”
3 UDB लेकिन यहूदा ने उससे कहा, "जिसने हमें अन्न बेचा था, उसने कठोर चेतावनी दी थी, 'यदि तुम आओ और तुम्हारा छोटा भाई तुम्हारे साथ नहीं होगा तो मैं तुम सब से नही मिलूँगा।' BSB BSB: But Judah replied, “The man solemnly warned us, ‘You will not see my face again unless your brother is with you.’
4 UDB अतः यदि तू हमारे छोटे भाई को हमारे साथ भेजे तो हम मिस्र से अपने लिए अनाज खरीद सकेंगे। BSB BSB: If you will send our brother with us, we will go down and buy food for you.
5 UDB परन्तु यदि तू उसे नहीं भेजेगा तो हम वहाँ नहीं जाएँगे क्योंकि उस व्यक्ति ने हमसे कहा है, 'यदि तुम्हारा छोटा भाई साथ न हो तो मेरे सामने मत आना।'" BSB BSB: But if you will not send him, we will not go; for the man told us, ‘You will not see my face again unless your brother is with you.’”
6 UDB याकूब ने उनसे कहा," तुम ने मेरे लिए यह संकट क्यों उत्पन्न किया कि उसे बता दिया कि तुम्हारा एक छोटा भाई भी है?" BSB BSB: “Why did you bring this trouble upon me?” Israel asked. “Why did you tell the man you had another brother?”
7 UDB उनमें से एक ने उत्तर दिया, "उसने हमारे और हमारे परिवार के विषय में पूरी पूछताछ की थी। उसने पूछा था, 'क्या तुम्हारा पिता जीवित है? क्या तुम्हारे और भी भाई हैं? हमें तो उसके प्रश्नों के उत्तर देने ही थे। हमें क्या मालूम था कि वह कहेगा, "अगली बार जब तुम आओगे तो तुम्हारे साथ तुम्हारा भाई भी हो।'" BSB BSB: They replied, “The man questioned us in detail about ourselves and our family: ‘Is your father still alive? Do you have another brother?’ And we answered him accordingly. How could we possibly know that he would say, ‘Bring your brother here’?”
8 UDB तब यहूदा ने अपने पिता से कहा, "उसको हमारे साथ भेज दे कि हम जायें और अन्न ले आयें कि हम और तू और हमारी सन्तान भूख से मर न जाये। BSB BSB: And Judah said to his father Israel, “Send the boy with me, and we will go at once, so that we may live and not die—neither we, nor you, nor our children.
9 UDB मैं विश्वास दिलाता हूँ कि वह सुरक्षित रहेगा। मैं इसका उत्तरदायित्व लेता हूँ। यदि मैं उसे तेरे पास लौटाकर न लाऊँ तो तू सदा के लिए मुझे दोषी ठहरा सकता है। BSB BSB: I will guarantee his safety. You may hold me personally responsible. If I do not bring him back and set him before you, then may I bear the guilt before you all my life.
10 UDB यदि हमने इतना समय बर्बाद नहीं किया होता, तो हम अब तक वहाँ दो बार जाकर लौट आते।" BSB BSB: If we had not delayed, we could have come and gone twice by now.”
11 UDB तब उनके पिता याकूब ने उन से कहा, "यदि कोई दूसरा रास्ता नहीं है, तो ऐसा ही करो: इस देश में उपजने वाले कुछ श्रेष्ठ सामानों को अपने बोरे में रखो, और उसे उपहार के रूप में उस व्यक्ति को दो। कुछ बालसान, मधु, सुगन्ध द्रव्य, गन्धरस, पिस्ते और बादाम आदि भी रखो। BSB BSB: Then their father Israel said to them, “If it must be so, then do this: Put some of the best products of the land in your packs and carry them down as a gift for the man—a little balm and a little honey, spices and myrrh, pistachios and almonds.
12 UDB इस समय, पहले से दुगुना धन भी ले लो क्योंकि पिछली बार देने के बाद पैसे लौटा दिये गये थे। तुम्हें उनको पिछली बार रखी गई चाँदी भी वापस करनी है जो तुम्हारे बोरो में रख दी गयी थी। संभव है कि गलती से तुम्हारे बोरो में रखी गई हो। BSB BSB: Take double the silver with you so that you may return the silver that was put back into the mouths of your sacks. Perhaps it was a mistake.
13 UDB अपने सबसे छोटे भाई को ले लो और उस व्यक्ति के पास वापस जाओ। BSB BSB: Take your brother as well, and return to the man at once.
14 UDB मैं प्रार्थना करूँगा कि सर्वशक्तिमान परमेश्वर उस पुरुष के मन में तुम्हारे लिए दया डाल दे कि वह तुम्हारे उस भाई को और बिन्यामीन को तुम्हारे साथ लौटकर आने दे और यदि मेरे पुत्र मुझसे छीन लिए गए तो मैं निर्वंश हो जाऊँगा।" BSB BSB: May God Almighty grant you mercy before the man, that he may release your other brother along with Benjamin. As for me, if I am bereaved, I am bereaved.”
15 UDB याकूब ने जो कहा था उसके अनुसार उन्होंने उपहार लिए और अन्न के मूल्य से दो गुणा अधिक राशि लेकर, बिन्यामीन को भी साथ लेकर वे शीघ्रता से मिस्र गए। वहाँ पहुँच कर वे यूसुफ के सामने उपस्थित हुए। BSB BSB: So the men took these gifts, along with double the amount of silver, and Benjamin as well. Then they hurried down to Egypt and stood before Joseph.
16 UDB जब यूसुफ ने बिन्यामीन को देखा तो अपने घर के प्रबन्धक से कहा, "इन लोगों को मेरे घर ले जा और एक पशु को मार और भोजन तैयार कर क्योंकि मैं चाहता हूँ कि वे दिन का भोजन मेरे साथ करें।" और उसने उसे समझाया कि उन्हें भोजन के लिए किस क्रम में बैठाया जाएगा। BSB BSB: When Joseph saw Benjamin with his brothers, he said to the steward of his house, “Take these men to my house. Slaughter an animal and prepare it, for they shall dine with me at noon.”
17 UDB उस सेवक ने जैसा यूसुफ ने कहा था वैसा ही किया। वह उन्हें यूसुफ के घर में ले गया। BSB BSB: The man did as Joseph had commanded and took the brothers to Joseph’s house.
18 UDB लेकिन वे डर गए क्योंकि वह उन्हें यूसुफ के घर के अन्दर ले जा रहा था। वे सोच रहे थे, "वह हमें उस चाँदी के कारण वहाँ ले जा रहा है जो पिछली बार हमारे बोरों में थी। जब हम भोजन करने बैठेंगे तब वह हम पर अपने दासों से आक्रमण कराएगा और हमें पकडकर दास बनने के लिए विवश करेगा और हमारे गधे भी छीन लेगा।" BSB BSB: But the brothers were frightened that they had been taken to Joseph’s house. “We have been brought here because of the silver that was returned in our bags the first time,” they said. “They intend to overpower us and take us as slaves, along with our donkeys.”
19 UDB वे यूसुफ के घर के प्रबन्धक के साथ यूसुफ के घर गए। जब वे घर के प्रवेश द्वार पर पहुँचे, BSB BSB: So they approached Joseph’s steward and spoke to him at the entrance to the house.
20 UDB उन भाइयों में से एक ने उससे कहा," महोदय, कृपया मेरी बात सुन। हम पहले यहाँ आए थे और हमने कुछ अनाज खरीदा था। BSB BSB: “Please, sir,” they said, “we really did come down here the first time to buy food.
21 UDB हम घर लौटने की यात्रा करते समय रात में जब रुके और हमने अपने बोरे खोले, तब हम यह देखकर आश्चर्यचकित हुए कि हम सभी के बोरे में उतने ही चाँदी के सिक्के थे जो हमने अनाज की कीमत के रूप में दिया था। अब हम वह कीमत भी वापस अपने साथ लाये हैं। BSB BSB: But when we came to the place we lodged for the night, we opened our sacks and, behold, each of us found his silver in the mouth of his sack! It was the full amount of our silver, and we have brought it back with us.
22 UDB इस बार हम अन्न खरीदने के लिए और अधिक चाँदी लाये हैं। हम नहीं जानते कि हमारे बोरे में चाँदी किसने रखी।" BSB BSB: We have brought additional silver with us to buy food. We do not know who put our silver in our sacks.”
23 UDB यूसुफ के सेवक ने उत्तर दिया, "डरो नहीं, मुझ पर विश्वास करो। जो चाँदी तुम ले आए हो वह मुझे प्राप्त हो गयी तुम्हारा पिता जिन परमेश्वर की आराधना करता था उन्हीं परमेश्वर ने तुम लोगों के धन को तुम्हारी बोरियों में भेंट के रूप में रखा होगा।" और वह शिमोन को कारावास से निकाल कर उनके पास ले आया। BSB BSB: “It is fine,” said the steward. “Do not be afraid. Your God, the God of your father, gave you the treasure that was in your sacks. I received your silver.” Then he brought Simeon out to them.
24 UDB वह उन्हें यूसुफ के घर में ले गया और उन्हें पांव धोने के लिए जल दिया तथा उनके गदहों के लिए भी चारा दिया। BSB BSB: And the steward took the men into Joseph’s house, gave them water to wash their feet, and provided food for their donkeys.
25 UDB उसने उनसे कहा कि वे दोपहर में यूसुफ के साथ भोजन करेंगे। उन लोगों ने यूसुफ के लिए उपहार तैयार किये ताकि जब यूसुफ आए तो उसे दें। BSB BSB: Since the brothers had been told that they were going to eat a meal there, they prepared their gift for Joseph’s arrival at noon.
26 UDB जब यूसुफ घर आया तब उन्होंने उसे वह उपहार दिए और उसके सामने धरती पर झुककर प्रणाम किया। BSB BSB: When Joseph came home, they presented him with the gifts they had brought, and they bowed to the ground before him.
27 UDB यूसुफ ने उनकी कुशलता पूछी और पिता के विषय में भी जानकारी प्राप्त की क्या तुम्हारा बुढा पिता स्वस्थ है जिसके विषय में तुम ने पहले बताया था, क्या वह अब तक जीवित है?" BSB BSB: He asked if they were well, and then he asked, “How is your elderly father you told me about? Is he still alive?”
28 UDB उनमें से एक ने कहा, "हाँ तेरा दास, हमारा पिता जीवित है और वह भला चंगा है। पुनः यूसुफ के सामने झुककर उन्होंने प्रणाम किया। BSB BSB: “Your servant our father is well,” they answered. “He is still alive.” And they bowed down to honor him.
29 UDB तब उसने बिन्यामीन को जो उसकी माता का दूसरा पुत्र था, देखा और उनसे पूछा, "क्या यही तुम्हारा वह छोटा भाई है जिसके विषय में तुम ने मुझसे कहा था?" उन्होंने कहा, "हाँ"। तब उसने बिन्यामीन से कहा, "हे बिन्यामीन, मैं परमेश्वर से प्रार्थना करता हूँ कि वे तुझ पर दया करें।" BSB BSB: When Joseph looked up and saw his brother Benjamin, his own mother’s son, he asked, “Is this your youngest brother, the one you told me about?” Then he declared, “May God be gracious to you, my son.”
30 UDB यूसुफ शीघ्र ही कमरे से निकल गया। उसे लगा कि वह रोने ही वाला है। वह अपने छोटे भाई के प्रति भावुक हो गया था। वह अपने निजी कमरे में गया और वहाँ रोया। BSB BSB: Joseph hurried out because he was moved to tears for his brother, and he went to a private room to weep.
31 UDB इसके पश्चात उसने अपने आँसू पोंछ लिए और अपनी भावनाओं पर नियन्त्रण करके बाहर आया और अपने सेवक से कहा, "भोजन परोस।" BSB BSB: Then he washed his face and came back out. Regaining his composure, he said, “Serve the meal.”
32 UDB उन दिनों मिस्र वासियों के लिए इब्रानियों के साथ भोजन करना अपमानजनक था इसलिए सेवकों ने यूसुफ के लिए अलग भोजन परोसा और साथ बैठने वाले मिस्रियों के लिए अलग तथा यूसुफ के भाइयों के लिए अलग-अलग भोजन परोसा। BSB BSB: They separately served Joseph, his brothers, and the Egyptians. They ate separately because the Egyptians would not eat with the Hebrews, since that was detestable to them.
33 UDB उनके भाई यह देखकर आश्चर्यचकित हुए कि उनके बैठने के स्थान उनकी आयु के क्रम अनुसार रखे गए थे, सबसे छोटे से लेकर सबसे बड़े तक। BSB BSB: They were seated before Joseph in order by age, from the firstborn to the youngest, and the men looked at one another in astonishment.
34 UDB उनके हिस्से का भोजन यूसुफ की मेज से लेकर परोसा गया, और बिन्यामीन को अन्य भाइयों से पाँच गुणा अधिक भोजन दिया गया। इस प्रकार उन्होंने यूसुफ के साथ भोजन किया और दाखमधु पिया और वे आनन्द से भर गए। BSB BSB: When the portions were served to them from Joseph’s table, Benjamin’s portion was five times larger than any of the others. So they feasted and drank freely with Joseph.
