Take the whole army with you, and go up and attack Ai. See, I have delivered into your hand the king of Ai, his people, his city, and his land.

But Joshua spent that night among the people.

But he did not know that an ambush had been set up against him behind the city.

18 UDB तब यहोवा ने यहोशू से कहा, "अपना भाला उठा और ऐ की ओर संकेत कर, क्योंकि मैं तेरे सैनिकों को उस पर अधिकार करने के लिए योग्य कर दूँगा!" तो यहोशू ने अपने भाले से ऐ की ओर संकेत किया। BSB BSB: Then the LORD said to Joshua, “Hold out your battle lance toward Ai, for into your hand I will deliver the city.” So Joshua held out his battle lance toward Ai,
19 UDB जब छिपे हुए इस्राएली पुरुषों ने यह देखा तो वे अतिशीघ्र अपने छिपने के स्थान से निकले और भाग कर शहर में घुस गए। उन्होंने इस पर अधिकार कर लिया और इसमें आग लगा दी। BSB BSB: and as soon as he did so, the men in ambush rose quickly from their position. They rushed forward, entered the city, captured it, and immediately set it on fire.

They could not escape in any direction, and the troops who had fled to the wilderness now turned against their pursuers.

So Israel struck them down until no survivor or fugitive remained.

24 UDB जब वे लड़ रहे थे, तब इस्राएली सेना ने ऐ के पुरुषों का खेतों में और जंगल में ऐ के पुरुषों का पीछा किया, और उन सब को मार डाला। तब वे ऐ के भीतर गए और जो कुछ अब भी जीवित था, मार डाला। BSB BSB: When Israel had finished killing all the men of Ai who had pursued them into the field and wilderness, and when every last one of them had fallen by the sword, all the Israelites returned to Ai and put it to the sword as well.

28 UDB यहोशू और उसके सैनिकों ने ऐ को जला दिया और उसे सदा के लिए खंडहरों का ढेर बना दिया। यह आज भी एक त्यागा हुआ स्थान है। BSB BSB: So Joshua burned Ai and made it a permanent heap of ruins, a desolation to this day.
29 UDB यहोशू ने ऐ के राजा को एक पेड़ पर फाँसी दी और शाम तक उसकी लाश को वहीं लटका रहने दिया। सूरज के ढलने के समय यहोशू ने अपने लोगों से राजा के शरीर को पेड़ से नीचे उतारने और उसे शहर के फाटक के पास फेंक देने की आज्ञा दी। ऐसा करने के बाद, उन्होंने उसके शरीर के ऊपर चट्टानों का एक बड़ा ढेर लगा दिया। चट्टानों का वह ढेर आज भी वहाँ है। BSB BSB: He hung the king of Ai on a tree until evening, and at sunset Joshua commanded that they take down the body from the tree and throw it down at the entrance of the city gate. And over it they raised a large pile of rocks, which remains to this day.
32 UDB इस्राएलियों की आँखों के सामने, यहोशू ने पत्थरों पर मूसा को दिए गए परमेश्वर के नियमों की एक नकल तैयार की। BSB BSB: And there in the presence of the Israelites, Joshua inscribed on the stones a copy of the law of Moses, which he had written.
33 UDB इस्राएल के अगुवे, अधिकारी, न्यायी और अन्य इस्राएली वहीं पास में खड़े हुए थे। बहुत से ऐसे लोग जो इस्राएली नहीं थे, वे भी वहाँ थे। आधे लोग एक ओर एबाल पर्वत के नीचे की घाटी में खड़े थे, और अन्य आधे लोग दूसरी ओर गिरिज्जीम पर्वत के नीचे की घाटी में खड़े थे। पवित्र सन्दूक दो समूहों के बीच घाटी में था। और उन्होंने इस्राएल के लोगों को आशीर्वाद दिया जैसा यहोवा के दास मूसा ने उन्हें आरम्भ ही में करने के लिए कहा था। BSB BSB: All Israel, foreigners and citizens alike, with their elders, officers, and judges, stood on both sides of the ark of the covenant of the LORD facing the Levitical priests who carried it. Half of the people stood in front of Mount Gerizim and half of them in front of Mount Ebal, as Moses the servant of the LORD had commanded earlier, to bless the people of Israel.
34 UDB तब यहोशू ने उन सब के सामने जो मूसा द्वारा लिखी गई बातें थीं पढ़ीं; इसमें वह सब था जो यहोवा ने उन्हें सिखाया था और उनके आज्ञा मानने पर आशीषों तथा आज्ञा न मानने पर श्रापों की प्रतिज्ञा की गई थी। BSB BSB: Afterward, Joshua read aloud all the words of the law—the blessings and the curses—according to all that is written in the Book of the Law.
35 UDB यहोशू ने मूसा द्वारा दिए गए सब आदेशों को ध्यान से पढ़ा; उसने इस्राएल की सभा के सामने हर एक शब्द को पढ़ा। महिलाएँ और छोटे बच्चे भी वहाँ थे, और इस्राएलियों के मध्य रहने वाले परदेशी भी वहाँ थे। BSB BSB: There was not a word of all that Moses had commanded that Joshua failed to read before the whole assembly of Israel, including the women, the little ones, and the foreigners who lived among them.
