1 UDB बिलाम ने राजा बालाक से कहा, “मेरे लिए यहाँ सात वेदियां बना दे। फिर बलि के लिए सात जवान बैल और सात मेढ़े मार।” BSB BSB: Then Balaam said to Balak, “Build for me seven altars here, and prepare for me seven bulls and seven rams.”
2 UDB बालाक ने वैसा ही किया। और फिर उसने और बिलाम ने प्रत्येक वेदी पर बलि हेतु एक जवान बैल और एक मेढ़ा जला दिया। BSB BSB: So Balak did as Balaam had instructed, and Balak and Balaam offered a bull and a ram on each altar.
3 UDB तब बिलाम ने बालाक से कहा, “तुम यहाँ अपनी होमबलि के समीप यहाँ खड़े हो जाओ, और मैं जाऊंगा और यहोवा से पूछूंगा कि वह क्या कहता हैं। तब मैं आपको बताऊंगा कि वह मुझसे क्या कहता है।” तब बिलाम स्वयं पहाड़ी के चोटी पर चढ़ गया। BSB BSB: “Stay here by your burnt offering while I am gone,” Balaam said to Balak. “Perhaps the LORD will meet with me. And whatever He reveals to me, I will tell you.” So Balaam went off to a barren height,
4 UDB पहाड़ी की चोटी पर परमेश्वर उनके सामने प्रकट हुआ। बिलाम ने उससे कहा, “हमने सात वेदियां बनाई हैं, और मैंने एक जवान बैल और एक मेढ़े को हर वेदी पर बलि किया है।” BSB BSB: and God met with him. “I have set up seven altars,” Balaam said, “and on each altar I have offered a bull and a ram.”

BSB BSB: And Balaam lifted up an oracle, saying: “Balak brought me from Aram, the king of Moab from the mountains of the east. ‘Come,’ he said, ‘put a curse on Jacob for me; come and denounce Israel!’
8 UDB परन्तु मैं उन लोगों को कैसे श्राप दे सकता हूँ जिन्हें परमेश्वर ने श्राप नहीं दिया है? मैं उन लोगों के विरुद्ध कैसे लड़ सकता हूँ जिनके खिलाफ यहोवा नहीं लड़ते हैं? BSB BSB: How can I curse those whom God has not cursed? How can I denounce those whom the LORD has not denounced?
9 UDB मैंने उन्हें चट्टानों के ऊपर से देखा है, मैंने उन्हें पहाड़ियों पर से देखा है। मैं देखता हूँ कि वे अकेले रहने वाले लोगों का समूह है। उन्होंने स्वयं को अन्यजातियों से अलग कर दिया है। BSB BSB: For I see them from atop the rocky cliffs, and I watch them from the hills. Behold, a people dwelling apart, not reckoning themselves among the nations.

Let me die the death of the righteous; let my end be like theirs!”
11 UDB तब बालाक ने कहा, “तू ने मेरे साथ यह क्या किया है? मैं तुझे अपने शत्रुओं को श्राप देने के लिए यहाँ लाया, परन्तु तू ने उन्हें आशीर्वाद दिया है!” BSB BSB: Then Balak said to Balaam, “What have you done to me? I brought you here to curse my enemies, and behold, you have only blessed them!”
12 UDB परन्तु बिलाम ने उत्तर दिया, “मैं केवल वही कह सकता हूँ जो यहोवा मुझसे कहलवाते हैं। मैं और कुछ नहीं कह सकता।” BSB BSB: But Balaam replied, “Should I not speak exactly what the LORD puts in my mouth?”
13 UDB तब राजा बालाक ने बिलाम से कहा, “मेरे साथ दूसरे स्थान पर आ। वहां तू इस्राएलियों का केवल एक भाग ही देखेगा, और उन लोगों को मेरे लिए श्राप देने में सक्षम होगा।” BSB BSB: Then Balak said to him, “Please come with me to another place where you can see them. You will only see the outskirts of their camp—not all of them. And from there, curse them for me.”
14 UDB तब बालाक बिलाम को पिसगा पर्वत की चोटी पर एक मैदान में ले गया। वहाँ, फिर उसने सात वेदियाँ बनाई और प्रत्येक वेदी पर एक जवान बैल और एक मेढ़ा बलि किया। BSB BSB: So Balak took him to the field of Zophim, to the top of Pisgah, where he built seven altars and offered a bull and a ram on each altar.
15 UDB तब बिलाम ने राजा से कहा, “यहाँ अपनी होमबलियों के निकट खड़े रहो, और मैं यहोवा से बात करने जाता हूँ।” BSB BSB: Balaam said to Balak, “Stay here beside your burnt offering while I meet the LORD over there.”

18 UDB तब बिलाम ने उसे यह संदेश सुनाया, “बालाक, ध्यान से सुनो, हे सिप्पोर के पुत्र, सुनो कि मुझे क्या कहना है! BSB BSB: Then Balaam lifted up an oracle, saying: “Arise, O Balak, and listen; give ear to me, O son of Zippor.
19 UDB परमेश्वर मनुष्य नहीं हैं। मनुष्य झूठ बोलते हैं, परन्तु परमेश्वर कभी झूठ नहीं बोलते हैं। वह मनुष्य के समान अपना मन कभी नहीं बदलते हैं। जो भी उन्होंने कहा है, वह किया हैं। उन्होंने जो प्रतिज्ञा की है, उन्होंने उसे पूरा किया है। BSB BSB: God is not a man, that He should lie, or a son of man, that He should change His mind. Does He speak and not act? Does He promise and not fulfill?

22 UDB परमेश्वर ने उन्हें मिस्र के दासत्व से बाहर निकाला और जंगली बैल की सी शक्ति से वह उन्हें मरुस्थल के बीच में से लेकर चला है। BSB BSB: God brought them out of Egypt with strength like a wild ox.
23 UDB याकूब के वंशजों को श्राप दिया जाए तौभी उनकी हानि नहीं होगी, उन पर तंत्र-मन्त्र की शक्ति भी प्रभाव नहीं डालेगी। इसलिए अब लोग याकूब के वंशजों के विषय में कहेंगे, ‘परमेश्वर ने इस्राएलियों के लिए अद्भुत काम किया है!’ BSB BSB: For there is no spell against Jacob and no divination against Israel. It will now be said of Jacob and Israel, ‘What great things God has done!’
24 UDB वे एक हमलावार शेरनी की सी शक्ति रखते हैं। वे शेरों के समान दृढ़ खड़े हैं। शेर तब तक आराम नहीं करते जब तक कि वे शिकार को मारकर खा नहीं लेते और पशुओं का खून भी पीते हैं, जिन्हें उन्होंने मार डाला है।" BSB BSB: Behold, the people rise like a lioness; they rouse themselves like a lion, not resting until they devour their prey and drink the blood of the slain.”
25 UDB तब बालाक ने बिलाम से कहा, “यदि तू उन्हें श्राप नहीं देता है, तो मैं कभी नहीं चाहूँगा कि तू उन्हें आशीर्वाद दें!” BSB BSB: Now Balak said to Balaam, “Then neither curse them at all nor bless them at all!”
26 UDB परन्तु बिलाम ने उत्तर दिया, “मैंने तुमसे से कहा था कि मुझे केवल वही करना होगा जो यहोवा मुझे करने के लिए कहते हैं!” BSB BSB: But Balaam replied, “Did I not tell you that whatever the LORD says, I must do?”
27 UDB तब राजा बालाक ने बिलाम से कहा, “मेरे साथ आ मैं तुझे एक और स्थान पर ले जाऊंगा। शायद यह परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य हो कि तू उन्हें उस स्थान से श्राप दे।” BSB BSB: “Please come,” said Balak, “I will take you to another place. Perhaps it will please God that you curse them for me from there.”
28 UDB तब बालाक बिलाम को पोर पर्वत की चोटी पर ले गया जहाँ से वे नीचे मरुस्थल में इस्राएलियों को देख सकते थे। BSB BSB: And Balak took Balaam to the top of Peor, which overlooks the wasteland.
29 UDB बिलाम ने फिर बालाक से कहा, “मेरे लिए सात वेदियां फिर से बना और बलिदान के लिए सात जवान बैल और सात मेढ़े मार।” BSB BSB: Then Balaam said, “Build for me seven altars here, and prepare for me seven bulls and seven rams.”
