BSB BSB: You crave what you do not have; you kill and covet, but are unable to obtain it. You quarrel and fight. You do not have, because you do not ask.
3 PBDS Ato, kau minto, tapi ano namu karano kau minto pake alasan nang saloh, iolah untu muasato hawa nafsunyu. BSB BSB: And when you do ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may squander it on your pleasures.
4 PBDS Hai, kau para penzina(ano setia ka Allah), ano gaike kau bahwa persahabatan(barayuk) ba dunio bararti bamusuh'hot ba Allah? Karano ang'koo, sape pun nang mao basahabat(barayuk) ba dunio, io yadioto diri'e musuh Allah. BSB BSB: You adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Therefore, whoever chooses to be a friend of the world renders himself an enemy of God.
5 PBDS Apakah kau pikir Kitab Suci* tampa alasan bakato, "Roh* nang dinampatot Allah ka doop diri yian Io'maoan pake nimuru. BSB BSB: Or do you think the Scripture says without reason that the Spirit He caused to dwell in us yearns with envy?
6 PBDS Namun, Allah mare anugerah nang labih agi. Karano ang'koo, Kitab Suci bakato, "Allah nantok urok'ng nang sombong, tapi mareot anugerah ka urok'ng nang rendah ati." BSB BSB: But He gives us more grace. This is why it says: “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”
7 PBDS Karano ang'koo, sarohotlah dirinyu ka Allah. Lawanlah setan, maka io pasti dari dirinyu. BSB BSB: Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
8 PBDS Samaklah ka Allah, lalu Io mao samak ka'kau. Barasihotlah kokotnyu, hai urok'ng-urok'ng badoso lalu murniotlah atinyu, hai urok'ng-urok'ng nang mandua ati. BSB BSB: Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
9 PBDS Prihatin, berduka, ba garataplah; biarlah tawanyu baruboh menjadi ratapan ba sukacitanyu menjadi dukacitanyu. BSB BSB: Grieve, mourn, and weep. Turn your laughter to mourning, and your joy to gloom.
10 PBDS Randohotlah atinyu ka adapot Tuhan, maka Io mao ningiot'kau. BSB BSB: Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will exalt you.
11 PBDS Kamaru-kamaru, usoh saling gato'ot jukut nang jahat ka antaranyu. Urok'ng nang bakato nang jahat mangana'i kamaru'e, ato menghakimi kamaru'e, bakato galawan ukum ba menghakimi ukum. Kade kau menghakimi ukum, kau bukelah pelaku ukum, melainkan hakim'me. BSB BSB: Brothers, do not slander one another. Anyone who speaks against his brother or judges him speaks against the law and judges it. And if you judge the law, you are not a practitioner of the law, but a judge of it.

16 PBDS Tapi kanio, kau bangga doop kasombonganyu; kabanggatnyu macam ang'koo adalah jahat. BSB BSB: As it is, you boast in your proud intentions. All such boasting is evil.
17 PBDS Jadi, kade seko urok'ng nahu'i jamae babuat baik, tetapi ano di'lakuot, io badoso. BSB BSB: Anyone, then, who knows the right thing to do, yet fails to do it, is guilty of sin.
