1 ULB Oleh sebab itu, kita harus sangat berhati-hati agar tidak seorang pun di antara kamu yang gagal atau ketinggalan dalam memperoleh janji Allah untuk masuk ke dalam perhentian Allah. BSB BSB: Therefore, while the promise of entering His rest still stands, let us be careful that none of you be deemed to have fallen short of it.
2 ULB Sebab kepada kita telah diberitakan kabar baik seperti juga yang telah mereka terima. Namun berita itu tidak akan bermanfaat bagi mereka yang tidak mau bersatu dalam iman dengan mereka yang telah mempercayainya. {Versi lainnya dibaca,} “Tapi pesan itu tidak menguntungkan mereka yang mendengarnya tanpa mengikuti dengan iman.” BSB BSB: For we also received the good news just as they did; but the message they heard was of no value to them, since they did not share the faith of those who comprehended it.

As for the others, it is just as God has said: “So I swore on oath in My anger, ‘They shall never enter My rest.’” And yet His works have been finished since the foundation of the world.
4 ULB Sebab Ia telah berfirman mengenai hari yang ketujuh, "Allah beristirahat dari seluruh pekerjaan-Nya pada hari yang ketujuh." BSB BSB: For somewhere He has spoken about the seventh day in this manner: “And on the seventh day God rested from all His works.”
5 ULB Sekali lagi Ia telah berfirman, "Mereka tidak akan pernah masuk ke dalam perhentian Ku." BSB BSB: And again, as He says in the passage above: “They shall never enter My rest.”
6 ULB Oleh sebab itu, karena perhentian Allah masih tetap tersedia bagi sebagian orang yang ingin memasuki perhentianNya, dan karena banyak dari orang-orang Israel yang telah mendengar kabar baik tidak dapat memasukinya karena ketidaktaatan mereka, BSB BSB: Since, then, it remains for some to enter His rest, and since those who formerly heard the good news did not enter because of their disobedience,
7 ULB Allah kembali menetapkan lagi suatu hari tertentu, yang disebut "Hari ini." Kemudian Ia berfirman melalui Daud, seperti sebelumya telah disampaikan, "Hari ini, jika engkau mendengar suaraNya, janganlah keraskan hatimu." 9 ULB Karena itu masih ada perhentian Sabat yang tersedia bagi umat Allah. BSB BSB: There remains, then, a Sabbath rest for the people of God.
10 ULB Karena ia yang memasuki perhentian Allah, juga akan berhenti dari segala pekerjaannya, seperti yang Allah sendiri telah lakukan. BSB BSB: For whoever enters God’s rest also rests from his own work, just as God did from His.
11 ULB Oleh sebab itu marilah kita berusaha untuk masuk ke dalam perhentian itu, supaya tidak ada seorang pun yang jatuh ke dalam sejenis ketidaktaatan yang pernah mereka lakukan. BSB BSB: Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall by following the same pattern of disobedience.
12 ULB Sebab firman Allah itu hidup dan berkuasa dan lebih tajam dari pedang bermata dua; ia menusuk sampai memisahkan jiwa dari roh, dan sendi dari sumsum, serta mampu membedakan pikiran dan maksud hati. BSB BSB: For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it pierces even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow. It judges the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
13 ULB Tidak ada sesuatu yang dijadikan yang tersembunyi di hadapan Allah. Justru, segala sesuatu nyata dan terbuka dihadapan Dia, yang kepadaNya kita harus memberikan pertanggung-jawaban. BSB BSB: Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight; everything is uncovered and exposed before the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.
14 ULB Oleh sebab itu, karena kita memiliki seorang Imam Besar Agung yang telah melintasi langit, yaitu Yesus, Anak Allah, marilah kita berpegang teguh pada pengakuan iman kita. BSB BSB: Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we profess.
16 ULB Sebab itu, marilah kita dengan penuh keberanian datang menghampiri takhta anugerah-Nya agar kita dapat menerima anugerah pertolongan-Nya di saat kita membutuhkannya. BSB BSB: Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
