ISL316
Nokkrum dögum síðar kom hann aftur til Kapernaúm. Þegar það fréttist að hann væri í bænum
BSB
BSB:
A few days later Jesus went back to Capernaum. And when the people heard that He was home,
2
ISL316
flykktist svo margt fólk að húsinu að það var ekki einu sinni hægt að komast nálægt dyrunum. Og Jesús prédikaði til þeirra.
BSB
BSB:
they gathered in such large numbers that there was no more room, not even outside the door, as Jesus spoke the word to them.
3
ISL316
BSB
BSB:
Then a paralytic was brought to Him, carried by four men.
4
ISL316
Þegar þeir sáu að þeir kæmust ekki að Jesú klifruðu þeir upp á þak hússins, rifu það upp og létu lamaða manninn síga niður í húsið á börum.
BSB
BSB:
Since they were unable to get to Jesus through the crowd, they uncovered the roof above Him, made an opening, and lowered the paralytic on his mat.
5
ISL316
Jesús sá þetta sem merki um trú þeirra og sagði við lamaða manninn: „Sonur minn, syndir þínar eru fyrirgefnar.“
BSB
BSB:
When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic,
“Son, your sins are forgiven.”
6
ISL316
BSB
BSB:
But some of the scribes were sitting there and thinking in their hearts,
7
ISL316
„Hvaða guðlast er þetta í manninum? Enginn getur fyrirgefið syndir nema Guð!“
BSB
BSB:
“Why does this man speak like this? He is blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone?”
8
ISL316
Jesús vissi strax í anda sínum að þeir hefðu hugsað þetta. „Af hverju hugsið þið svona?“ spurði hann þá.
BSB
BSB:
At once Jesus knew in His spirit that they were thinking this way within themselves.
“Why are you thinking these things in your hearts?”
He asked.
9
ISL316
„Hvort er auðveldara að að segja lömuðum manni að syndir hans séu fyrirgefnar, eða að segja honum að taka börurnar sínar og standa upp?
BSB
BSB:
“Which is easier: to say to a paralytic, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up, pick up your mat, and walk’?
10
ISL316
BSB
BSB:
But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins...”
He said to the paralytic,
11
ISL316
„Stattu upp, taktu börurnar þínar og farðu heim.“
BSB
BSB:
“I tell you, get up, pick up your mat, and go home.”
12
ISL316
Um leið og Jesús hafði sleppt orðinu stóð maðurinn upp, tók upp börurnar sínar og gekk af stað út úr húsinu í gegnum furðu lostinn mannfjöldann. „Ég hef aldrei séð neitt þessu líkt!“ sagði fólkið hvert við annað, og lofaði Guð.
BSB
BSB:
And immediately the man got up, picked up his mat, and walked out in front of them all. As a result, they were all astounded and glorified God, saying, “We have never seen anything like this!”
13
ISL316
Nokkru síðar fór Jesús aftur út að vatninu, þar sem hann kenndi mannfjöldanum sem fylgdi honum hvert sem hann fór.
BSB
BSB:
Once again Jesus went out beside the sea. All the people came to Him, and He taught them there.
14
ISL316
Á leiðinni þangað sá hann Leví Alfeusarson þar sem hann sat og vann í skattkofanum sínum. „Fylgdu mér!“ sagði Jesús við hann – og Leví stóð upp og fylgdi honum.
BSB
BSB:
As He was walking along, He saw Levi son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax booth.
“Follow Me,”
He told him, and Levi got up and followed Him.
15
ISL316
BSB
BSB:
While Jesus was dining at Levi’s house, many tax collectors and sinners were eating with Him and His disciples—for there were many who followed Him.
16
ISL316
BSB
BSB:
When the scribes who were Pharisees saw Jesus eating with these people, they asked His disciples, “Why does He eat with tax collectors and sinners?”
17
ISL316
BSB
BSB:
On hearing this, Jesus told them,
“It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”
18
ISL316
BSB
BSB:
Now John’s disciples and the Pharisees were often fasting. So people came to Jesus and asked, “Why don’t Your disciples fast like John’s disciples and those of the Pharisees?”
19
ISL316
„Af hverju ættu gestir brúðgumans að fasta meðan brúðguminn er hjá þeim?“ spurði Jesús þá á móti. „Það er ekkert vit í því að þeir geri það meðan hann er hjá þeim.
BSB
BSB:
Jesus replied,
“How can the guests of the bridegroom fast while He is with them? As long as He is with them, they cannot fast.
20
ISL316
Þeir hafa næg tækifæri til þess að fasta þegar brúðguminn verður farinn frá þeim.“
BSB
BSB:
But the time will come when the bridegroom will be taken from them; then they will fast.
21
ISL316
„Það notar enginn glænýtt, ómýkt efni í bót á gamla flík – hún rifnar bara frá gamla, slitna efninu og gerir rifuna verri.
BSB
BSB:
No one sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment. If he does, the new piece will pull away from the old, and a worse tear will result.
22
ISL316
Það setur heldur enginn nýtt vín í gamlar flöskur – nýja vínið sprengir bara flöskurnar svo þær eyðileggjast og vínið fer út um allt. Nýtt vín þarf að setja í nýjar flöskur.“
BSB
BSB:
And no one pours new wine into old wineskins. If he does, the wine will burst the skins, and both the wine and the wineskins will be ruined. Instead, new wine is poured into new wineskins.”
23
ISL316
Einu sinni þegar Jesús var á göngu á kornakri á hvíldardeginum fóru lærisveinar hans að tína kornöxin.
BSB
BSB:
One Sabbath Jesus was passing through the grainfields, and His disciples began to pick the heads of grain as they walked along.
24
ISL316
Farísearnir sem sáu þetta sögðu við hann: „Hvernig geta þeir gert þetta? Það er bannað á hvíldardeginum.“
BSB
BSB:
So the Pharisees said to Him, “Look, why are they doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath?”
25
ISL316
„Muniði ekki hvað Davíð konungur gerði,“ svaraði Jesús, „þegar hann og menn hans voru hætt komnir af hungri?
BSB
BSB:
Jesus replied,
“Have you never read what David did when he and his companions were hungry and in need?
26
ISL316
Þeir fóru inn í hús Guðs í stjórnartíð Abíatars æðstaprests og átu brauðið sem enginn nema prestarnir áttu að mega borða.
BSB
BSB:
During the high priesthood of Abiathar, he entered the house of God and ate the consecrated bread, which was lawful only for the priests. And he gave some to his companions as well.”
27
ISL316
Hvíldardagurinn á að þjóna manninum, ekki öfugt.
BSB
BSB:
Then Jesus declared,
“The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.
28
ISL316
Þess vegna ræður Mannssonurinn yfir hvíldardeginum.“
BSB
BSB:
Therefore, the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.”
