2 Chronicles 18 (ULB)

1ಯೆಹೋಷಾಫಾಟನಿಗೆ ಧನಘನತೆಗಳು ಬಹಳವಾಗಿದ್ದವು. ಅವನು ಅಹಾಬನೊಡನೆ ನೆಂಟಸ್ಥಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡನು.Now Jehoshaphat had an abundance of riches and honor, and he allied himself with Ahab by marriage.

2ಕೆಲವು ವರ್ಷಗಳಾದ ನಂತರ ಅವನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಸಮಾರ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋದನು. ಅಹಾಬನು ಅವನಿಗೂ ಅವನೊಡನೆ ಬಂದ ಜನರಿಗಾಗಿಯೂ ಹಿಂಡುಗಳಿಂದ ಅನೇಕ ದನಕುರಿಗಳನ್ನು ಕೊಯ್ದು ಔತಣವನ್ನು ಏರ್ಪಡಿಸಿದನು. ತನ್ನ ಸಂಗಡ ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ರಾಮೋತ್ ಗಿಲ್ಯಾದಿಗೆ ಬರಬೇಕೆಂದು ಅವನನ್ನು ಪ್ರೇರೇಪಿಸಿದನು.And some years later he went down to visit Ahab in Samaria, where Ahab sacrificed many sheep and cattle for him and the people with him and urged him to march up to Ramoth-gilead.

3ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಅರಸನಾದ ಅಹಾಬನು ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರ ಅರಸನಾದ ಯೆಹೋಷಾಫಾಟನನ್ನು, <<ನನ್ನ ಜೊತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ರಾಮೋತ್ ಗಿಲ್ಯಾದಿಗೆ ಬರುತ್ತೀಯೋ?>> ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿದನು. ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಅವನು, <<ನಾನೂ, ನೀನೂ ನನ್ನ ಜನರೂ ನಿನ್ನ ಜನರೂ ಒಂದೇ ಅಲ್ಲವೇ? ನಿನ್ನ ಜೊತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ಬರುವೆನು>> ಎಂದು ಉತ್ತರ ಕೊಟ್ಟನು.Ahab king of Israel asked Jehoshaphat king of Judah, “Will you go with me against Ramoth-gilead?” And Jehoshaphat replied, “I am as you are, and my people are your people; we will join you in the war.”

4ಯೆಹೋಷಾಫಾಟನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಅರಸನಿಗೆ, <<ಇಂದು ಯೆಹೋವನ ಆಲೋಚನೆಯನ್ನು ಕೇಳು>> ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿಕೊಂಡನು.But Jehoshaphat also said to the king of Israel, “Please inquire first for the word of the LORD.”

5ಅನಂತರ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಅರಸನು ತನ್ನ ರಾಜ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ನಾನೂರು ಮಂದಿ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಗಳನ್ನು ಸೇರಿಸಿ, <<ನಾವು ರಾಮೋತ್ ಗಿಲ್ಯಾದಿನ ಮೇಲೆ ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಬಹುದೋ? ಹೋಗಬಾರದೋ?>> ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿದನು. ಅವರು, <<ಹೋಗಬಹುದು, ದೇವರು ಅದನ್ನು ಅರಸನ ಕೈಗೆ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸುವನು>> ಎಂದರು.So the king of Israel assembled the prophets, four hundred men, and asked them, “Should we go to war against Ramoth-gilead, or should we refrain?” “Go up,” they replied, “and God will deliver it into the hand of the king.”

6ಆದರೆ ಯೆಹೋಷಾಫಾಟನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಅರಸನಿಗೆ, <<ಯೆಹೋವನ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಇವರ ಹೊರತಾಗಿ ನಾವು ವಿಚಾರಿಸಬಹುದಾದ ಬೇರೊಬ್ಬ ಪ್ರವಾದಿ ಇಲ್ಲವೇ?>> ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿದನು.But Jehoshaphat asked, “Is there not still a prophet of the LORD here of whom we can inquire?”

7ಅವನು, <<ನಮಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಚಾರಿಸ ಬಲ್ಲವನಾದ ಒಬ್ಬ ಪ್ರವಾದಿ ಇದ್ದಾನೆ, ಅವನು ಇಮ್ಲನ ಮಗನಾದ ಮೀಕಾಯೆಹು ಎಂಬುವವನು. ಆದರೆ ನಾನು ಅವನನ್ನು ದ್ವೇಷಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ; ಅವನು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಕುರಿತು ಯಾವಾಗಲೂ ಶುಭವನ್ನು ನುಡಿಯದೆ, ಅಶುಭವನ್ನೇ ನುಡಿಯುತ್ತಾನೆ>> ಎಂದು ಉತ್ತರಕೊಟ್ಟನು. ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಯೆಹೋಷಾಫಾಟನು, <<ಅರಸನು ಹಾಗನ್ನಬಾರದು>> ಎಂದನು.The king of Israel answered, “There is still one man through whom we can inquire of the LORD, but I hate him because he never prophesies anything good for me, but only bad. He is Micaiah son of Imlah.” “The king should not say that!” Jehoshaphat replied.

8ಆಗ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಅರಸನು ಒಬ್ಬ ಕಂಚುಕಿಯನ್ನು ಕರೆದು ಅವನಿಗೆ, <<ಬೇಗ ಹೋಗಿ ಇಮ್ಲನ ಮಗನಾದ ಮೀಕಾಯೆಹುವನ್ನು ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬಾ>> ಎಂದು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದನು.So the king of Israel called one of his officials and said, “Bring Micaiah son of Imlah at once.”

9ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಅರಸನೂ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರ ಅರಸನಾದ ಯೆಹೋಷಾಫಾಟನೂ ರಾಜವಸ್ತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ಧರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಸಮಾರ್ಯ ಪಟ್ಟಣದ ಹೆಬ್ಬಾಗಿಲಿನ ಹತ್ತಿರವಿರುವ ಬಯಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ತಮ್ಮ ತಮ್ಮ ಆಸನಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಕುಳಿತುಕೊಂಡಿರಲು. ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಗಳು ಅವರ ಮುಂದೆ ಪರವಶರಾಗಿ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಸತೊಡಗಿದರು.Dressed in royal attire, the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah were sitting on their thrones at the threshing floor by the entrance of the gate of Samaria, with all the prophets prophesying before them.

10ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆನಾನನ ಮಗನಾದ ಚಿದ್ಕೀಯ ಎಂಬವನು ಕಬ್ಬಿಣದ ಕೊಂಬುಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿಸಿ ತಲೆಗೆ ಕಟ್ಟಿಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದು, <<ಕೊಂಬುಗಳಿಂದಲೋ ಎಂಬಂತೆ ನೀನು ಅರಾಮ್ಯರನ್ನು ಇರಿದು ಕೊಂದುಹಾಕುವಿ ಎಂಬುದಾಗಿ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾನೆ>> ಎಂದನು.Now Zedekiah son of Chenaanah had made for himself iron horns and declared, “This is what the LORD says: ‘With these you shall gore the Arameans until they are finished off.’”

11ಉಳಿದ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಗಳೂ ಇದೇ ತರದ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ನುಡಿದು, <<ರಾಮೋತ್ ಗಿಲ್ಯಾದಿಗೆ ಹೋಗು; ನೀನು ಜಯಶಾಲಿಯಾಗಿ ಬರುವಿ; ಯೆಹೋವನು ಅದನ್ನು ಅರಸನ ಕೈಗೆ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸುವನು>> ಎಂದರು.And all the prophets were prophesying the same, saying, “Go up to Ramoth-gilead and triumph, for the LORD will deliver it into the hand of the king.”

12ಇತ್ತ ಮೀಕಾಯೆಹುವನ್ನು ಕರೆಯುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದಿದ್ದ ದೂತನು ಅವನಿಗೆ, <<ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಗಳೂ ಏಕ ಮನಸ್ಸಿನಿಂದ ಅರಸನಿಗೆ ಶುಭವನ್ನೇ ತಿಳಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ; ದಯವಿಟ್ಟು ನೀನೂ ಅವರಂತೆ ಶುಭವನ್ನೇ ತಿಳಿಸು>> ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.Then the messenger who had gone to call Micaiah instructed him, “Behold, with one accord the words of the prophets are favorable to the king. So please let your words be like theirs, and speak favorably.”

13ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಮೀಕಾಯೆಹುವು, <<ಯೆಹೋವನಾಣೆ, ನನ್ನ ದೇವರು ಹೇಳುವುದನ್ನೇ ನುಡಿಯುತ್ತೇನೆ>> ಎಂದು ಉತ್ತರಕೊಟ್ಟನು.But Micaiah said, “As surely as the LORD lives, I will speak whatever my God tells me.”

14ಅವನು ಅರಸನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದಾಗ ಅರಸನು, <<ಮೀಕಾಯೆಹುವೇ? ನಾವು ರಾಮೋತ್ ಗಿಲ್ಯಾದಿನ ಮೇಲೆ ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಹೋಗಬಹುದೋ? ಹೋಗಬಾರದೋ? ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿದನು. ಅವನು, ಹೋಗಬಹುದು, ಕೃತಾರ್ಥನಾಗಿ ಬರುವಿರಿ, ವೈರಿಗಳು ನಿನ್ನ ಕೈವಶವಾಗುವರು>> ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.When Micaiah arrived, the king asked him, “Micaiah, should we go to war against Ramoth-gilead, or should we refrain?” “Go up and triumph,” Micaiah replied, “for they will be delivered into your hand.”

15ಆಗ ಅರಸನು ಅವನಿಗೆ, <<ಸತ್ಯವನ್ನೇ ತಿಳಿಸಬೇಕೆಂದು ಯೆಹೋವನ ಹೆಸರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನಾನು ನಿನ್ನಿಂದ ಎಷ್ಟು ಸಾರಿ ಪ್ರಮಾಣ ಮಾಡಿಸಬೇಕು?>> ಎಂದನುBut the king said to him, “How many times must I make you swear not to tell me anything but the truth in the name of the LORD?”

16ಆಗ ಅವನು, <<ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಕುರುಬನಿಲ್ಲದ ಕುರಿ ಹಿಂಡುಗಳಂತೆ ಬೆಟ್ಟಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಚದರಿ ಹೋದದ್ದನ್ನು ಕಂಡೆನು; ಆಗ ಯೆಹೋವನು, <ಇವರು ಒಡೆಯನಿಲ್ಲದವರಾಗಿ ಇರುತ್ತಾರೆ; ಸಮಾಧಾನದಿಂದ ತಮ್ಮ ತಮ್ಮ ಮನೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಲಿ>>> ಎಂಬುದಾಗಿ ಉತ್ತರಕೊಟ್ಟನು.So Micaiah declared: “I saw all Israel scattered on the hills like sheep without a shepherd. And the LORD said, ‘These people have no master; let each one return home in peace.’”

17ಆಗ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಅರಸನು ಯೆಹೋಷಾಫಾಟನಿಗೆ, <<ಈ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಯು ನನಗೆ ಯಾವಾಗಲೂ ಶುಭವನ್ನಲ್ಲ, ಅಶುಭವನ್ನೇ, ತಿಳಿಸುತ್ತಾನೆಂದು ನಾನು ನಿನಗೆ ಹೇಳಲಿಲ್ಲವೋ?>> ಎಂದನು.Then the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “Did I not tell you that he never prophesies good for me, but only bad?”

18ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಮಿಕಾಯೆಹುವು, <<ಅದಿರಲಿ, ಯೆಹೋವನ ವಾಕ್ಯವನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿರಿ, ಯೆಹೋವನು ತನ್ನ ಸಿಂಹಾಸನದ ಮೇಲೆ ಕುಳಿತುಕೊಂಡದ್ದನ್ನೂ ಪರಲೋಕಸೈನ್ಯಗಳು ಆತನ ಎಡಬಲಗಡೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತಿದ್ದನ್ನೂ ಕಂಡೆನು.Micaiah continued, “Therefore hear the word of the LORD: I saw the LORD sitting on His throne, and all the host of heaven standing on His right and on His left.

19ಯೆಹೋವನು ತನ್ನ ಹತ್ತಿರ ನಿಂತವರನ್ನು, <ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಅರಸನಾದ ಅಹಾಬನು ಹತನಾಗಿ ಬೀಳುವಂತೆ ಅವನನ್ನು ರಾಮೋತ್ ಗಿಲ್ಯಾದಿನ ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಲು ಯಾರು ಪ್ರೇರೇಪಿಸ ಬಲ್ಲಿರಿ?> ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿದಾಗ, ಒಬ್ಬನು ಒಂದು ವಿಧವಾಗಿಯೂ ಇನ್ನೊಬ್ಬನು ಇನ್ನೊಂದು ವಿಧವಾಗಿಯೂ ಉತ್ತರಕೊಟ್ಟರು.And the LORD said, ‘Who will entice Ahab king of Israel to march up and fall at Ramoth-gilead?’ And one suggested this, and another that.

20ಕಡೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ಆತ್ಮವು ಯೆಹೋವನ ಮುಂದೆ ಬಂದು ನಿಂತು ಆತನಿಗೆ, <ನಾನು ಹೋಗಿ ಅವನನ್ನು ಪ್ರೇರೇಪಿಸುವೆನು> ಎಂದಿತು. <ಹೇಗೆ ಪ್ರೇರೇಪಿಸುವಿ?> ಎಂದು ಯೆಹೋವನು ಕೇಳಲು,Then a spirit came forward, stood before the LORD, and said, ‘I will entice him.’ ‘By what means?’ asked the LORD.

21ಅದು, <ನಾನು ಅಸತ್ಯವನ್ನಾಡುವ ಆತ್ಮವಾಗಿ ಅವನ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಗಳ ಒಳಗೆ ಸೇರುವೆನು> ಎಂದು ಉತ್ತರಕೊಟ್ಟಿತು. ಆಗ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಅದಕ್ಕೆ, <ಹೋಗಿ ಅದರಂತೆ ಮಾಡು; ಅವನನ್ನು ಪ್ರೇರೇಪಿಸು ನೀನು ಸಫಲನಾಗುವಿ> ಎಂದನು.And he replied, ‘I will go out and be a lying spirit in the mouths of all his prophets.’ ‘You will surely entice him and prevail,’ said the LORD. ‘Go and do it.’

22ನೋಡು, ಯೆಹೋವನು ನಿನ್ನ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೇಡು ನುಡಿದು, ನಿನ್ನ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅಸತ್ಯವನ್ನಾಡುವ ಆತ್ಮವನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದ್ದಾನೆ>> ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.So you see, the LORD has put a lying spirit in the mouths of these prophets of yours, and the LORD has pronounced disaster against you.”

23ಆಗ ಕೆನಾನನ ಮಗನಾದ ಚಿದ್ಕೀಯನು ಮೀಕಾಯೆಹುವಿನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಅವನ ಕೆನ್ನೆಗೆ ಒಂದು ಏಟು ಹಾಕಿ, <<ಯೆಹೋವನ ಆತ್ಮವು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ನಿನ್ನೊಂದಿಗೆ ಮಾತನಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಯಾವ ಮಾರ್ಗವಾಗಿ ಬಂದಿತು?>> ಎಂದನು.Then Zedekiah son of Chenaanah went up, struck Micaiah in the face, and demanded, “Which way did the Spirit of the LORD go when He departed from me to speak with you?”

24ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಮೀಕಾಯೆಹುವು, <<ನೀನು ಅಡಗಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಒಳಗಿನ ಕೋಣೆಗೆ ಹೋಗುವ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ಅದು ನಿನಗೆ ಗೊತ್ತಾಗುವುದು>> ಎಂದು ಉತ್ತರ ಕೊಟ್ಟನು.Micaiah replied, “You will soon see, on that day when you go and hide in an inner room.”

25ಆಗ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಅರಸನು ಸೇವಕರಿಗೆ, <<ಮೀಕಾಯೆಹುವನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಿ ಪಟ್ಟಣದ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಯಾದ ಆಮೋನನಿಗೂ ರಾಜಪುತ್ರನಾದ ಯೋವಾಷನಿಗೂ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿರಿ.And the king of Israel declared, “Take Micaiah and return him to Amon the governor of the city and to Joash the king’s son,

26ಅವರಿಗೆ, <ನಾನು ಸುರಕ್ಷಿತನಾಗಿ ಹಿಂದಿರುಗುವವರೆಗೂ ಇವನನ್ನು ಸೆರೆಯಲ್ಲಿಟ್ಟು ಸೆರೆಮನೆಯ ಅನ್ನಪಾನಗಳನ್ನೇ ಕೊಟ್ಟು ಕುಗ್ಗಿಸಬೇಕೆಂದು ಅರಸನು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದಾನೆ> ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿರಿ>> ಎಂಬುದಾಗಿ ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದನು.and tell them that this is what the king says: ‘Put this man in prison and feed him only bread and water until I return safely.’”

27ಮೀಕಾಯೆಹುವು ಅರಸನಿಗೆ, <<ನೀನು ಸುರಕ್ಷಿತನಾಗಿ ಬರುವುದಾದರೆ, ನಾನು ನುಡಿದದ್ದು ಯೆಹೋವನ ಮಾತಲ್ಲ>> ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ, <<ಮಹಾ ಜನರೇ, ನನ್ನ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಗಮನದಲ್ಲಿಟ್ಟುಕೊಳ್ಳಿರಿ>> ಎಂದು ಕೂಗಿ ಹೇಳಿದನು.But Micaiah replied, “If you ever return safely, the LORD has not spoken through me.” Then he added, “Take heed, all you people!”

28ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಅರಸನೂ ಹಾಗೂ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರ ಅರಸನಾದ ಯೆಹೋಷಾಫಾಟನೂ ರಾಮೋತ್ ಗಿಲ್ಯಾದಿಗೆ ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ಹೊರಟರು.So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah went up to Ramoth-gilead.

29ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಅರಸನು ಯೆಹೋಷಾಫಾಟನಿಗೆ, <<ನಾನು ವೇಷ ಹಾಕಿಕೊಂಡು ಯುದ್ಧ ಭೂಮಿಗೆ ಬರುತ್ತೇನೆ; ನೀನಾದರೋ ನಿನ್ನ ರಾಜವಸ್ತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ಧರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡೇ ಬಾ>> ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ವೇಷ ಹಾಕಿಕೊಂಡನು; ತರುವಾಯ ಯುದ್ಧ ಭೂಮಿಗೆ ಹೋದರು.And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “I will disguise myself and go into battle, but you wear your royal robes.” So the king of Israel disguised himself and went into battle.

30ಅರಾಮ್ಯರ ಅರಸನು ತನ್ನ ರಥಬಲದ ಅಧಿಪತಿಗಳಿಗೆ, <<ನೀವು ಶತ್ರುಗಳ ಸಾಧಾರಣ ಸೈನಿಕರನ್ನೂ, ಅಧಿಪತಿಗಳನ್ನೂ ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಅರಸನಿಗೇ ಗುರಿಯಿಡಿರಿ>> ಎಂದು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದ್ದನು.Now the king of Aram had ordered his chariot commanders, “Do not fight with anyone, small or great, except the king of Israel.”

31ರಥಬಲದ ಅಧಿಪತಿಗಳು ಯೆಹೋಷಾಫಾಟನನ್ನು ಕಂಡಾಗ ಅವನೇ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಅರಸನೆಂದು ನೆನೆದು, ಅವನಿಗೆ ವಿರುದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ಯುದ್ಧ ಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಸುತ್ತಿಕೊಂಡರು. ಆಗ ಯೆಹೋಷಾಫಾಟನು ಯೆಹೋವನನ್ನು ಸಹಾಯಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಕೂಗಿದನು. ಆಗ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಅವನ ನೆರವಿಗೆ ಬಂದು, ಶತ್ರುಗಳನ್ನು ಅವನ ಕಡೆಯಿಂದ ಹೊರಟು ಹೋಗುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡಿದನು.When the chariot commanders saw Jehoshaphat, they said, “This is the king of Israel!” So they turned to fight against him, but Jehoshaphat cried out, and the LORD helped him. God drew them away from him.

32ಅವನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಅರಸನಲ್ಲವೆಂಬುದು ರಥಬಲದ ಅಧಿಪತಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಗೊತ್ತಾದಾಗ ಅವರು ಅವನನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಹಿಂತಿರುಗಿದರು.And when the chariot commanders saw that he was not the king of Israel, they turned back from pursuing him.

33ಅರಾಮ್ಯರ ಒಬ್ಬ ಸೈನಿಕನು ಗುರಿಯಿಡದೆ ಸುಮ್ಮನೆ ಒಂದು ಬಾಣವನ್ನೆಸೆಯಲು, ಆ ಬಾಣವು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಅರಸನಿಗೆ, ಅವನ ಕವಚದ ಸಂದಿನಲ್ಲಿ ತಾಕಿತು. ಆಗ ಅವನು ತನ್ನ ಸಾರಥಿಗೆ, <<ರಥವನ್ನು ತಿರುಗಿಸಿ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ರಣರಂಗದಿಂದ ಆಚೆಗೆ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗು; ನನಗೆ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಗಾಯವಾಗಿದೆ>> ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.However, a certain man drew his bow without taking special aim, and he struck the king of Israel between the joints of his armor. So the king said to his charioteer, “Turn around and take me out of the battle, for I am badly wounded!”

34ಆ ದಿನ ಯುದ್ಧವು ಬಹು ಘೋರವಾಗಿದ್ದುದರಿಂದ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಅರಸನು ಸಾಯಂಕಾಲದವರೆಗೂ ಅರಾಮ್ಯರ ಎದುರಾಗಿ ತನ್ನ ರಥದಲ್ಲೇ ಆತುಕೊಂಡಿರಬೇಕಾಯಿತು. ಸೂರ್ಯಾಸ್ತಮಾನವಾದಾಗ ಅವನು ಸತ್ತನು.The battle raged throughout that day, and the king of Israel propped himself up in his chariot facing the Arameans until evening. And at sunset he died.
