BSB BSB: Behold what manner of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God. And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know Him.

3 PBDB Katuluh ulun sauweng kabahumen hang wuang Kristus, hanye ngabarasis welumni, sameh andri Kristus daya Hamye yeru tu'u-tu'u barasis. BSB BSB: And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as Christ is pure.
4 PBDB Hie ulun sangulah dosa hanye haut ngulah kahalaen hukum, daya dosa yeru nawan hukum. BSB BSB: Everyone who practices sin practices lawlessness as well. Indeed, sin is lawlessness.
5 PBDB Naun uras karasa, Yesus Kristus yeru umak ngabarasis dosa, jari hang wuang Hanye puang uweng dosa. BSB BSB: But you know that Christ appeared to take away sins, and in Him there is no sin.
6 PBDB Katuluh ulun samuneng baya Hanye puang sagar ngulah dosa; hie pudi puang sagar badosa amun hanye haut kadinung nelang kataru andri Hanye. BSB BSB: No one who remains in Him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has seen Him or known Him.
7 PBDB Naun anakku, ada kalewa ulun nyantawang naun. Ulun sangaraja neo pikaeh hanye yeru ulun samaeh. BSB BSB: Little children, let no one deceive you: The one who practices righteousness is righteous, just as Christ is righteous.
8 PBDB Ulun sangulah dosa yeru welumni ibaya andri setan, daya setan yeru teka mulani haut badosa. Daya yeru Anak Alatalla hawi ngampan: Hanye nyandrupuh kawan pagawian setan yeru. BSB BSB: The one who practices sin is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the very start. This is why the Son of God was revealed, to destroy the works of the devil.
9 PBDB Puang sunah erang kaulun sahawi teka Alatalla sangulah dosa daya iwit teka Alatalla muneng baya hanye; nelang hanye patau ngulah dosa daya hanye hawi teka Alatalla. BSB BSB: Anyone born of God refuses to practice sin, because God’s seed abides in him; he cannot go on sinning, because he has been born of God.
10 PBDB Jari daya yeru taru, hiye kawan anak Alatalla nelang bulu taru pada hie kawan anak Iblis. Hie ulun sapuang welum hang wuang pikaeh hanyeru puang hawi teka Alatalla, kalahie pudi ulun sapuang malelu kawan pulaksana'ini. BSB BSB: By this the children of God are distinguished from the children of the devil: Anyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is anyone who does not love his brother.
11 PBDB Daya kabar yena haut tekasadi rengei naun, hanyeru takam Selma tau sameh-2 ipamalelu. BSB BSB: This is the message you have heard from the beginning: We should love one another.
12 PBDB Ada nyalah hi Kain, hanye hawi teka ala murun sahaut munu ani-ni. Bulu, wuah inun hi Kain hampe munu ani-ni? Daya hi Kain ngaraja pikurunkode ani-ni ngaraja satiba pikaeh. BSB BSB: Do not be like Cain, who belonged to the evil one and murdered his brother. And why did Cain slay him? Because his own deeds were evil, while those of his brother were righteous.
13 PBDB Pulaksana'i-ku katuluh, ada naun emah amun dunia yena muar ma naun. BSB BSB: So do not be surprised, brothers, if the world hates you.
15 PBDB Hie ulun samuar mapulakna'i-ni hanyeru erang kaulun samurun atei, naun sika karasa hiye samurun atei hanye puang uweng pamelum sakalalawah. BSB BSB: Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that eternal life does not reside in a murderer.
16 PBDB Teka yena takam kataru ipamalelu: Daya Yesus Kristus haut nyarah welum-Ni ma takam. Jari, takam pada ngami pamelum takam hampi kawan pulaksan'i takam. BSB BSB: By this we know what love is: Jesus laid down His life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers.
17 PBDB Tawuk ulun uweng harata dunia yena, bulu hanye karasa pulaksana'i tu'u-tu'u parlu, kode hanye nutup ateini puang palelu, kala awe pada tau, ahilelu Alatalla tau naan hang wuang ateini? BSB BSB: If anyone with earthly possessions sees his brother in need, but withholds his compassion from him, how can the love of God abide in him?
18 PBDB Kawan anak-ku, ayu ware takam pamalelu puang ekat andri paner atawa andri iwei ai, kode ware takam ngaraja andri atei samaeh. BSB BSB: Little children, let us love not in word and speech, but in action and truth.
19 PBDB Andri yena, bulu takam karasa amun takkamna hawi teka antu kaeh nelang takam bulu nguet atei hang dahapan Alatalla. BSB BSB: And by this we will know that we belong to the truth, and will assure our hearts in His presence:
20 PBDB Daya, amun hang wuang atei, takam tau ngampihala wangun welum takam, nelang diwi sarasa-Ni neo katuluh yeru. BSB BSB: Even if our hearts condemn us, God is greater than our hearts, and He knows all things.
21 PBDB Kawan pulaksana'i sanakaleluku, amun atei takam puang ngapihala wangun takam, yiru takam haut naan kayakinan hang dahapan Alatalla. BSB BSB: Beloved, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God,
22 PBDB Inun kuang sanalaku, takam sagar natarime takam teka Alatalla daya takam haut ngaraja kawan parentah-Ni nelang sameh andri kawan kabahumen-Ni BSB BSB: and we will receive from Him whatever we ask, because we keep His commandments and do what is pleasing in His sight.
23 PBDB Nelang ina parentah Alatalla, hanyeru ngampan takam parisaya hang wuang ngaran Anak-Ni, Yesus Kristus, ngampan takam ipamalelu nyalah sahaut naparentah-Ni ma takam. BSB BSB: And this is His commandment: that we should believe in the name of His Son, Jesus Christ, and we should love one another just as He commanded us.
24 PBDB Ulun samakai kawan parentah Alatalla sagar muneng baya Hanye, balalu Alatalla pada muneng baya hanye. Daya yeru takam karasa Alatalla muneng baya takam, mitah Roh sahaut naami Alatalla ma takam. BSB BSB: Whoever keeps His commandments remains in God, and God in him. And by this we know that He remains in us: by the Spirit He has given us.
