4 PBBR Sok da nyansana, "Iko'k nganal Allah," kati nganti parintah-parintah-A, ini'k koh sook panipu ge da taman kati ani ka sadan't ini'k. BSB BSB: If anyone says, “I know Him,” but does not keep His commandments, he is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
5 PBBR Aok tapi, asi da nganti Firman-A pamase Jabata laka batol-batol sampurna ka sadan't adup'a. Lakoh talah ite pane kalo ite ka sadan't Ini'k. BSB BSB: But if anyone keeps His word, the love of God has been truly perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him:
6 PBBR Sok da nyansana kalo ini'k madi kasadan't Jabata, ini'k arus idup samu nige Ysesu idup. BSB BSB: Whoever claims to abide in Him must walk as Jesus walked.
7 PBBR Ayo-age da ko'k ngayayang, iko'k kati nulis parintah bahu ka ayomu'k malain't'a parintah tuhi da laka imnu'k umpu dari idu'k, parintah tuhi dakoh anilah Firman da ngalaka imu'k dangah sajak awal. BSB BSB: Beloved, I am not writing to you a new commandment, but an old one, which you have had from the beginning. This commandment is the message you have heard.
8 PBBR Namun' iko'k uga agi nulis parintah bahu umpan't mu'k, da anilah taman ka sadan't ini'k ge ka sadan't imu'k karna ka patang'k sadang'k balaku ge tohos, da taman mati basinar. BSB BSB: Then again, I am also writing to you a new commandment, which is true in Him and also in you. For the darkness is fading and the true light is already shining.
9 PBBR Sok da nyansana kalo ini'k ani ka sadan't tohos, tapi ngarusi age'a, kalo ini'k masih ani ka sadan't ka patang'k sampe mati. BSB BSB: If anyone claims to be in the light but hates his brother, he is still in the darkness.
10 PBBR Sok da ngayayang age'a madi'k ka sadan't tohos ge kati ani nyitengpun da ngabulah'a jadi tasingkak. BSB BSB: Whoever loves his brother remains in the light, and there is no cause of stumbling in him.
11 PBBR Aok tapi, ini'k da ngarusi age'a ani ka sadan't da patang'k ge bajalan't ka sadan't da patang'k ini'k kati pane ka ume ini'k anu karna ka patang'k laka umas matu'a. BSB BSB: But whoever hates his brother is in the darkness and walks in the darkness. He does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.

13 PBBR Iko'k nulis ka imu'k hei ayo sok da angot, karna imu'k laka ngalah da jahe. Iko'k nulis ka ayo kup, hei anak-anak, karna imu'k laka nganal Bapa. BSB BSB: I am writing to you, fathers, because you know Him who is from the beginning. I am writing to you, young men, because you have overcome the evil one. I have written to you, children, because you know the Father.
14 PBBR Iko'k nulis ka ayo kup, hei sama'a-sama'a karna imu'k laka nganal ini'k sajak idu'u ma'an. Iko'k nulis ka ayo kup, hei ayo age-adi karna imu'k ngalaka nganal sa jahe. BSB BSB: I have written to you, fathers, because you know Him who is from the beginning. I have written to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you, and you have overcome the evil one.
15 PBBR Usahlah ngayayang dunia diah ato hal-hal da ani ka sadan't dunia. Kalo sook ngayayang dunia, pamase Bapa kati ani ka sadan't ini'k. BSB BSB: Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
16 PBBR Sabab, samaan da ani ka sadan't dunia, yaitu kainginan dagin, kainginan matu, ge kasumbongan idu'u kati brasal umpan't Bapa ngalain't'a umpan't dunia. BSB BSB: For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh, the desires of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not from the Father but from the world.
17 PBBR Dunia diah sadang'k lanyap samu kainginan'a, tapi sok da ngalaku kahandak Allah aok idup sampe aok-aok'a. BSB BSB: The world is passing away, along with its desires; but whoever does the will of God remains forever.
18 PBBR Anak-anak'ko'k jana diah aok ani jaman akhir; ge samu da laka imu'k da ngah kalo anti-Kristus aok utung'k, bahkan mati'k pun karah anti-anti-Kristus laka utung'k. Lakohtalah ite pane kalo mati'k ani zaman akhir. BSB BSB: Children, it is the last hour; and just as you have heard that the antichrist is coming, so now many antichrists have appeared. This is how we know it is the last hour.
20 PBBR Aok tatapi, IMU' laka umpu pengurapan umpan't da kudus, ge imu' ngapane samaan'a. BSB BSB: You, however, have an anointing from the Holy One, and all of you know the truth.
21 PBBR Iko' nulis ka ago mu' inya karna imu' ti'nga pane dataman, malain't karna imu' nga'pane'a ge karna kati' ani parayum'p ge barasal umpan't da taman. BSB BSB: I have not written to you because you lack knowledge of the truth, but because you have it, and because no lie comes from the truth.
23 PBBR Asipun da ngayum Anak kati' umpu Bapa. Aok tapi, satiap sok da ngako Anak, ini' uga umpu Bapa. BSB BSB: Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father, but whoever confesses the Son has the Father as well.
24 PBBR Kate'alah jai da ngalaka imu' dangah waktu idu'maan tatap madi ka sadan'tmu. Sa' jai da ngalaka imu' dangah umpan't idu' tatap madi ka sadan'tmu, imu' uga aok tatap madi ka sadan't Anak ge Bapa. BSB BSB: As for you, let what you have heard from the beginning remain in you. If it does, you will also remain in the Son and in the Father.
25 PBBR Ge', diahlah janji da Ini' mangkan't ka ite, dakohta idup da kekal. BSB BSB: And this is the promise that He Himself made to us: eternal life.
26 PBBR Samaan hal da ngalaka ko'nulis ka'imu' diah, bakaitan nige ayo'a da barusaha nyasatmu.' BSB BSB: I have written these things to you about those who are trying to deceive you.
27 PBBR Sa' urapan da ngalaka imu' narima umpan't Ini' tatap madi ka sadan'tmu', ge' imu' kati palalu sok lain't ya' ngajarmu'. Aok tapi karna pangurapan-A dakoh ngajar imu' tantang sagala sasuatu ge hal dakoh diu'ta taman, inya dusta sabagaiume Ini' ngalaka ngajar imu' tataplah madi ka sadan't Ini.' BSB BSB: And as for you, the anointing you received from Him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But just as His true and genuine anointing teaches you about all things, so remain in Him as you have been taught.
28 PBBR Mati' anak-anakko' madilah ka sadan't Ini' supaya sa' Ini nyua' adup'a, ite umpu kayakinan adup'tee ge' kati mangun ka tura Ini' sa' saat pajutukng-A. BSB BSB: And now, little children, remain in Christ, so that when He appears, we may be confident and unashamed before Him at His coming.
29 PBBR Sa' imu' pane kalo Ini' diu'ta taman, imu' uga pane kalo satiap sok umas da taman, lahir umpan't Ini.' BSB BSB: If you know that He is righteous, you also know that everyone who practices righteousness has been born of Him.
