4പ്രസിദ്ധൻ ആകുവാൻ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നവൻ ആരും രഹസ്യത്തിൽ ഒന്നും ചെയ്യുന്നില്ലല്ലോ; നീ ഇതു ചെയ്യുന്നു എങ്കിൽ ലോകത്തിന്നു നിന്നെത്തന്നേ വെളിപ്പെടുത്തുക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.For no one who wants to be known publicly acts in secret. Since You are doing these things, show Yourself to the world.”

18സ്വയമായി പ്രസ്താവിക്കുന്നവൻ സ്വന്തമഹത്വം അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നു; തന്നെ അയച്ചവന്റെ മഹത്വം അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നവൻ സത്യവാൻ ആകുന്നു; നീതികേടു അവനിൽ ഇല്ല.He who speaks on his own authority seeks his own glory, but He who seeks the glory of the One who sent Him is a man of truth; in Him there is no falsehood.

19മോശെ നിങ്ങൾക്കു ന്യായപ്രമാണം തന്നിട്ടില്ലയോ? എങ്കിലും നിങ്ങളിൽ ആരും ന്യായപ്രമാണം ആചരിക്കുന്നില്ല. നിങ്ങൾ എന്നെ കൊല്ലുവാൻ അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നതു എന്തു?Has not Moses given you the law? Yet not one of you keeps it. Why are you trying to kill Me?”

20അതിന്നു പുരുഷാരം: നിനക്കു ഒരു ഭൂതം ഉണ്ടു; ആർ നിന്നെ കൊല്ലുവാൻ അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.“You have a demon,” the crowd replied. “Who is trying to kill You?”

23മോശെയുടെ ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തിന്നു നീക്കം വരാതിരിപ്പാൻ ശബ്ബത്തിലും മനുഷ്യൻ പരിച്ഛേദന ഏല്ക്കുന്നു എങ്കിൽ ഞാൻ ശബ്ബത്തിൽ ഒരു മനുഷ്യനെ മുഴുവനും സൗഖ്യമാക്കിയതിനാൽ എന്നോടു ഈർഷ്യപ്പെടുന്നുവോ?If a boy can be circumcised on the Sabbath so that the law of Moses will not be broken, why are you angry with Me for making the whole man well on the Sabbath?

24കാഴ്ചപ്രകാരം വിധിക്കരുതു; നീതിയുള്ള വിധി വിധിപ്പിൻ.Stop judging by outward appearances, and start judging justly.”

25യെരൂശലേമ്യരിൽ ചിലർ: അവർ കൊല്ലുവാൻ അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നവൻ ഇവൻ അല്ലയോ?Then some of the people of Jerusalem began to say, “Isn’t this the man they are trying to kill?

26അവൻ ധൈര്യത്തോടെ സംസാരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ; അവർ അവനോടു ഒന്നും പറയുന്നില്ല; ഇവൻ ക്രിസ്തു ആകുന്നു എന്നു പ്രമാണികൾ യഥാർത്ഥമായി ഗ്രഹിച്ചുവോ?Yet here He is, speaking publicly, and they are not saying anything to Him. Have the rulers truly recognized that this is the Christ?

27എങ്കിലും ഇവൻ എവിടെനിന്നു എന്നു നാം അറിയുന്നു; ക്രിസ്തു വരുമ്പോഴോ അവൻ എവിടെനിന്നു എന്നു ആരും അറികയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.But we know where this man is from. When the Christ comes, no one will know where He is from.”

31പുരുഷാരത്തിൽ പലരും: ക്രിസ്തു വരുമ്പോൾ ഇവൻ ചെയ്തതിൽ അധികം അടയാളം ചെയ്യുമോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവനിൽ വിശ്വസിച്ചു.Many in the crowd, however, believed in Him and said, “When the Christ comes, will He perform more signs than this man?”

32പുരുഷാരം അവനെക്കുറിച്ചു ഇങ്ങനെ കുശുകുശുക്കുന്നു എന്നു പരീശന്മാർ കേട്ടാറെ അവനെ പിടിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാരും പരീശന്മാരും ചേവകരെ അയച്ചു.When the Pharisees heard the crowd whispering these things about Jesus, they and the chief priests sent officers to arrest Him.

33യേശുവോ: ഞാൻ ഇനി കുറെനേരം നിങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ ഇരിക്കുന്നു; പിന്നെ എന്നെ അയച്ചവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ പോകുന്നു.So Jesus said, “I am with you only a little while longer, and then I am going to the One who sent Me.

34നിങ്ങൾ എന്നെ അന്വേഷിക്കും കണ്ടെത്തുകയില്ലതാനും; ഞാൻ ഇരിക്കുന്നേടത്തു നിങ്ങൾക്കു വരുവാൻ കഴികയുമില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.You will look for Me, but you will not find Me; and where I am, you cannot come.”

35അതു കേട്ടിട്ടു യെഹൂദന്മാർ: നാം കണ്ടെത്താതവണ്ണം ഇവൻ എവിടേക്കു പോകുവാൻ ഭാവിക്കുന്നു? യവനന്മാരുടെ ഇടയിൽ ചിതറിപ്പാർക്കുന്നവരുടെ അടുക്കൽ പോയി യവനരെ ഉപദേശിപ്പാൻ ഭാവമോ?At this, the Jews said to one another, “Where does He intend to go that we will not find Him? Will He go where the Jews are dispersed among the Greeks, and teach the Greeks?

36നിങ്ങൾ എന്നെ അന്വേഷിക്കും, എന്നെ കണ്ടെത്തുകയില്ലതാനും; ഞാൻ ഇരിക്കുന്നേടത്തു നിങ്ങൾക്കു വരുവാൻ കഴികയുമില്ല എന്നു ഈ പറഞ്ഞ വാക്കു എന്തു എന്നു തമ്മിൽ തമ്മിൽ പറഞ്ഞു.What does He mean by saying, ‘You will look for Me, but you will not find Me,’ and, ‘Where I am, you cannot come’?”

37ഉത്സവത്തിന്റെ മഹാദിനമായ ഒടുക്കത്തെ നാളിൽ യേശുനിന്നുകൊണ്ടു: ദാഹിക്കുന്നവൻ എല്ലാം എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നു കുടിക്കട്ടെ.On the last and greatest day of the feast, Jesus stood up and called out in a loud voice, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink.

38എന്നിൽ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നവന്റെ ഉള്ളിൽനിന്നു തിരുവെഴുത്തു പറയുന്നതുപോലെ ജീവജലത്തിന്റെ നദികൾ ഒഴുകും എന്നു വിളിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞു.Whoever believes in Me, as the Scripture has said: ‘Streams of living water will flow from within him.’”

39അവൻ ഇതു തന്നിൽ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നവർക്കു ലഭിപ്പാനുള്ള ആത്മാവിനെക്കുറിച്ചു ആകുന്നു പറഞ്ഞതു; യേശു അന്നു തേജസ്കരിക്കപ്പെട്ടിട്ടില്ലായ്കയാൽ ആത്മാവു വന്നിട്ടില്ലായിരുന്നു.He was speaking about the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were later to receive. For the Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus had not yet been glorified.

40പുരുഷാരത്തിൽ പലരും ആ വാക്കു കേട്ടിട്ടു: ഇവൻ സാക്ഷാൽ ആ പ്രവാചകൻ ആകുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.On hearing these words, some of the people said, “This is truly the Prophet.”

41വേറെ ചിലർ: ഇവൻ ക്രിസ്തു തന്നേ എന്നും മറ്റു ചിലർ: ഗലീലയിൽ നിന്നോ ക്രിസ്തു വരുന്നതു?Others declared, “This is the Christ.” But still others asked, “How can the Christ come from Galilee?

42ദാവീദിന്റെ സന്തതിയിൽ നിന്നും ദാവീദ് പാർത്ത ഗ്രാമമായ ബേത്ത്ലേഹെമിൽനിന്നും ക്രിസ്തു വരുന്നു എന്നു തിരുവെഴുത്തു പറയുന്നില്ലയോ എന്നും പറഞ്ഞു.Doesn’t the Scripture say that the Christ will come from the line of David and from Bethlehem, the village where David lived?”

43അങ്ങനെ പുരുഷാരത്തിൽ അവനെച്ചൊല്ലി ഭിന്നത ഉണ്ടായി.So there was division in the crowd because of Jesus.

44അവരിൽ ചിലർ അവനെ പിടിപ്പാൻ ഭാവിച്ചു എങ്കിലും ആരും അവന്റെമേൽ കൈ വെച്ചില്ല.Some of them wanted to seize Him, but no one laid a hand on Him.

45ചേവകർ മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാരുടെയും പരീശന്മാരുടെയും അടുക്കൽ മടങ്ങിവന്നപ്പോൾ അവർ അവരോടു: നിങ്ങൾ അവനെ കൊണ്ടുവരാഞ്ഞതു എന്തു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു:Then the officers returned to the chief priests and Pharisees, who asked them, “Why didn’t you bring Him in?”

46ഈ മനുഷ്യൻ സംസാരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ ആരും ഒരുനാളും സംസാരിച്ചിട്ടില്ല എന്നു ചേവകർ ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.“Never has anyone spoken like this man!” the officers answered.

47പരീശന്മാർ അവരോടു: നിങ്ങളും തെറ്റിപ്പോയോ?“Have you also been deceived?” replied the Pharisees.

48പ്രമാണികളിൽ ആകട്ടെ പരീശന്മാരിൽ ആകട്ടെ ആരെങ്കിലും അവനിൽ വിശ്വസിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടോ?“Have any of the rulers or Pharisees believed in Him?

49ന്യായപ്രമാണം അറിയാത്ത പുരുഷാരമോ ശപിക്കപ്പെട്ടവരാകുന്നു എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.But this crowd that does not know the law—they are under a curse.”

50അവരിൽ ഒരുത്തനായി, മുമ്പെ അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നിരുന്ന നിക്കൊദേമൊസ് അവരോടു:Nicodemus, who had gone to Jesus earlier and who himself was one of them, asked,

51ഒരു മനുഷ്യന്റെ വാമൊഴി ആദ്യം കേട്ടു, അവൻ ചെയ്യുന്നതു ഇന്നതു എന്നു അറിഞ്ഞിട്ടല്ലാതെ നമ്മുടെ ന്യായപ്രമാണം അവനെ വിധിക്കുന്നുവോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.“Does our law convict a man without first hearing from him to determine what he has done?”

52അവർ അവനോടു: നീയും ഗലീലക്കാരനോ? പരിശോധിച്ചുനോക്കുക; ഗലീലയിൽ നിന്നു പ്രവാചകൻ എഴുന്നേല്ക്കുന്നില്ലല്ലോ എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.“Aren’t you also from Galilee?” they replied. “Look into it, and you will see that no prophet comes out of Galilee.”

53[അങ്ങനെ ഓരോരുത്തൻ താന്താന്റെ വീട്ടിൽ പോയി.Then each went to his own home.
