1परूशी आणि यरुशलेमहून आलेले नियमशास्त्राचे काही शिक्षक येशूंकडे येऊन विचारू लागले,Then some Pharisees and scribes came to Jesus from Jerusalem and asked,

2“तुमचे शिष्य आपल्या वाडवडीलांच्या परंपरा का मोडतात? जेवणापूर्वी ते आपले हात धूत नाहीत!”“Why do Your disciples break the tradition of the elders? They do not wash their hands before they eat.”

3येशूंनी उत्तर दिले, “तुमच्या प्रथा पाळण्याकरिता तुम्ही परमेश्वराच्या आज्ञा का मोडता?Jesus replied, “And why do you break the command of God for the sake of your tradition?

4परमेश्वर म्हणाले, ‘तुझ्या वडिलांचा आणि आईचा सन्मान करा’ आणि ‘जो कोणी आपल्या आई किंवा वडिलास शाप देईल त्यास जिवे मारावे.’For God said, ‘Honor your father and mother’ and ‘Anyone who curses his father or mother must be put to death.’

7अहो ढोंग्यांनो! यशायाह संदेष्ट्याने तुमच्या ढोंगीपणाचे अचूक वर्णन केले आहे, तो म्हणतो:You hypocrites! Isaiah prophesied correctly about you:

8“ ‘हे लोक केवळ त्यांच्या मुखाने माझा सन्मान करतात, पण त्यांची अंतःकरणे माझ्यापासून दूर आहेत.‘These people honor Me with their lips, but their hearts are far from Me.

9माझी उपासना ते व्यर्थपणे करतात; त्यांची शिकवण केवळ मानवी नियम आहेत.’ ”They worship Me in vain; they teach as doctrine the precepts of men.’”

10येशूने गर्दीतील लोकांना आपल्याकडे बोलाविले आणि म्हटले, “ऐका आणि समजून घ्या.Jesus called the crowd to Him and said, “Listen and understand.

11मनुष्याच्या मुखात जे जाते ते त्यांना अशुद्ध करीत नाही, पण जे त्यांच्या मुखातून बाहेर पडते ते त्यांना अशुद्ध करते.”A man is not defiled by what enters his mouth, but by what comes out of it.”

13येशू म्हणाले, “माझ्या स्वर्गीय पित्याने न लावलेले प्रत्येक झाड उपटून टाकण्यात येईल.But Jesus replied, “Every plant that My heavenly Father has not planted will be pulled up by its roots.

14त्यांच्याकडे लक्ष देऊ नका; ते आंधळे मार्गदर्शक आहेत. जर एक आंधळा मनुष्य दुसर्या आंधळ्याला वाट दाखवेल, तर ते दोघेही खाचेत पडतील.”Disregard them! They are blind guides. If a blind man leads a blind man, both will fall into a pit.”

15पेत्र म्हणाला, “आम्हाला हा दाखला स्पष्ट करून सांगा.”Peter said to Him, “Explain this parable to us.”

16“तुम्ही अजूनही अज्ञानी आहात काय?” येशूंनी त्यांना विचारले.“Do you still not understand?” Jesus asked.

17“तुम्हाला हे समजत नाही काय की, जे मुखात जाते ते पोटात उतरते आणि शरीरातून बाहेर पडते?“Do you not yet realize that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and then is eliminated?

18परंतु जे शब्द मुखातून बाहेर येतात ते हृदयातून येतात आणि तेच मनुष्याला अशुद्ध करतात.But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these things defile a man.

19कारण हृदयातून दुष्ट विचार, खून, जारकर्म, व्यभिचार, चोरी, खोटी साक्ष, निंदा ही बाहेर पडतात;For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, and slander.

20आणि हेच मनुष्याला अशुद्ध करतात. परंतु हात धुतल्याशिवाय अन्न खाल्याने ते अशुद्ध होत नाहीत.”These are what defile a man, but eating with unwashed hands does not defile him.”

21नंतर येशूंनी तो प्रांत सोडला आणि सोर व सीदोन या प्रांतात गेले.Leaving that place, Jesus withdrew to the district of Tyre and Sidon.

22एक कनानी स्त्री त्या भागातून येशूंकडे आली आणि त्यांना विनवणी करून म्हणाली, “प्रभू, दावीद राजाचे पुत्र, माझ्यावर दया करा! माझी मुलगी भूतग्रस्त झाली असून, ती पुष्कळ छळ सहन करीत आहे.”And a Canaanite woman from that region came to Him, crying out, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on me! My daughter is miserably possessed by a demon.”

23पण येशूंनी एका शब्दानेही तिला उत्तर दिले नाही; तेव्हा त्यांच्या शिष्यांनी त्यांना विनंती केली, “प्रभूजी, तिला पाठवून द्या, कारण ती आपल्यामागे सारखी ओरडत येत आहे.”But Jesus did not answer a word. So His disciples came and urged Him, “Send her away, for she keeps crying out after us.”

24तेव्हा येशू त्या स्त्रीला म्हणाले, “हरवलेल्या इस्राएली मेंढराकडेच मला पाठविले आहे.”He answered, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”

25परंतु ती बाई पुढे आली आणि त्यांच्या पाया पडून म्हणाली, “प्रभूजी, मला मदत करा.”The woman came and knelt before Him. “Lord, help me!” she said.

26येशू म्हणाले, “लेकरांची भाकर काढून कुत्र्यांना घालणे बरोबर नाही.”But Jesus replied, “It is not right to take the children’s bread and toss it to the dogs.”

27“हे प्रभू आपले म्हणणे अगदी बरोबर आहे!” स्त्रीने उत्तर दिले, “स्वामीच्या मेजाखाली जे तुकडे पडतात ते कुत्रेही खातात.”“Yes, Lord,” she said, “even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their master’s table.”

28ते ऐकून येशू तिला म्हणाले, “बाई, तुझा विश्वास फार मोठा आहे! म्हणून तुझी विनंती मान्य करण्यात आली आहे.” आणि त्याच क्षणी तिची मुलगी बरी झाली.“O woman,” Jesus answered, “your faith is great! Let it be done for you as you desire.” And her daughter was healed from that very hour.

29नंतर येशूंनी ते ठिकाण सोडले आणि गालील सरोवराच्या किनार्याने गेले. मग ते एका डोंगरावर जाऊन बसले.Moving on from there, Jesus went along the Sea of Galilee. Then He went up on a mountain and sat down.

30खूप मोठी गर्दी त्यांच्याजवळ जमली. लोकांनी आपल्यातील लंगडे, आंधळे, मुके, अपंग आणि इतर रोगांनी आजारी असलेल्यांना त्यांच्या चरणांजवळ आणले आणि त्या सर्वांना त्यांनी बरे केले.Large crowds came to Him, bringing the lame, the blind, the crippled, the mute, and many others, and laid them at His feet, and He healed them.

And they glorified the God of Israel.

32येशूंनी आपल्या शिष्यांना जवळ बोलाविले आणि म्हणाले, “मला या लोकांचा कळवळा येतो. कारण ते तीन दिवसापासून आहेत आणि त्यांना खावयास काही नाही. त्यांना तसेच उपाशी पाठवून देण्याची माझी इच्छा नाही, तसे केले तर ते रस्त्यातच कोसळून पडतील.”Then Jesus called His disciples to Him and said, “I have compassion for this crowd, because they have already been with Me three days and have nothing to eat. I do not want to send them away hungry, or they may faint along the way.”

33शिष्यांनी उत्तर दिले, “एवढ्या लोकांना पुरेल इतके अन्न या ओसाड रानात कुठून आणावे?”The disciples replied, “Where in this desolate place could we find enough bread to feed such a large crowd?”

34येशूंनी विचारले, “तुमच्याजवळ किती भाकरी आहेत?” शिष्यांनी उत्तर दिले, “सात आणि काही लहान मासे.”“How many loaves do you have?” Jesus asked. “Seven,” they replied, “and a few small fish.”

35तेव्हा त्यांनी जमावाला जमिनीवर बसावयास सांगितले.And He instructed the crowd to sit down on the ground.

36मग त्या सात भाकरी व मासे घेऊन त्या भाकरीबद्दल परमेश्वराचे आभार मानले आणि त्या मोडल्या व शिष्यांना दिल्या आणि त्यांनी ते लोकांना वाढले.Taking the seven loaves and the fish, He gave thanks and broke them. Then He gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people.

37ते सर्वजण जेवले व तृप्त झाले. नंतर शिष्यांनी उरलेले तुकडे गोळा केले तेव्हा सात टोपल्या भरल्या.They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up seven basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over.

38स्त्रिया व लेकरांशिवाय जे जेवले ते चार हजार पुरुष होते.A total of four thousand men were fed, besides women and children.

39येशूंनी लोकांना घरी जाण्यास निरोप दिल्यानंतर ते एका होडीत बसून मगादान नावाच्या भागात आले.After Jesus had dismissed the crowds, He got into the boat and went to the region of Magadan.
