2 IEV (അവന്‍ ഇവിടെ ഭൂമിയിലേക്കു വന്ന കാരണത്താല്‍ ഞങ്ങള്‍ അവനെ കണ്ടു! ഞങ്ങള്‍ നിങ്ങളോട് വ്യക്തമായി പറയുന്നു ഞങ്ങള്‍ കണ്ടവനാണ് എല്ലായ്പ്പോഴും ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നവന്‍. മുന്‍പേ അവന്‍ തന്‍റെ പിതാവിനോടൊപ്പം സ്വര്‍ഗ്ഗത്തിലായിരുന്നു, എന്നാല്‍ നമ്മുടെ ഇടയില്‍ ജീവിക്കുവാന്‍ അവന്‍ വന്നു.) BSB BSB: We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And this fellowship of ours is with the Father and with His Son, Jesus Christ.
4 IEV അവ സത്യമാണെന്ന് നിങ്ങള്‍ക്കു ബോദ്ധ്യപ്പെടുവാനും അതിന്‍റെ ഫലമായി നമ്മള്‍ പൂര്‍ണ്ണമായി സന്തോഷിക്കുവാനും ഞാന്‍ നിങ്ങള്‍ക്കു ഈ കാര്യങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ച് എഴുതുന്നു. BSB BSB: We write these things so that our joy may be complete.
5 IEV ഞങ്ങള്‍ ദൈവത്തില്‍നിന്നു കേട്ടതും നിങ്ങള്‍ക്കുവേണ്ടി അറിയിക്കുന്നതുമായ സന്ദേശം ഇതാകുന്നു: അവന്‍ ഒരിക്കലും പാപം ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ല. അവന്‍ ഒട്ടും ഇരുട്ടില്ലാത്ത ഉജ്ജ്വലമായ പ്രകാശം പോലെയാകുന്നു. BSB BSB: And this is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you: God is light, and in Him there is no darkness at all.
6 IEV നമ്മള്‍ ദൈവത്തോടു ചേര്‍ന്നവരാണെന്നു അവകാശപ്പെടുകയും, നമ്മുടെ ജീവിതം അശുദ്ധമായ രീതിയില്‍ നയിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നുവെങ്കില്‍, അതു തിന്മയാകുന്ന ഇരുട്ടില്‍ ജീവിക്കുന്നതുപോലെയാണ്. നമ്മള്‍ കള്ളം പറയുന്നു. നമ്മള്‍ നമ്മുടെ ജീവിതത്തെ ദൈവത്തിന്‍റെ സത്യമായ സന്ദേശമനുസരിച്ചു നയിക്കുന്നതുമില്ല. BSB BSB: If we say we have fellowship with Him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.
7 IEV ദൈവം പരിശുദ്ധിയില്‍ വസിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ എല്ലാ വഴിയിലും പരിശുദ്ധമായ രീതിയില്‍ ജീവിക്കുക എന്നത്, ദൈവത്തിന്‍റെ പ്രകാശത്തില്‍ ജീവിക്കുന്നതുപോലെയാകുന്നു. നാം അങ്ങനെ ചെയ്താല്‍, നമുക്കു പരസ്പരം ഒരുമിച്ചു ചേരുവാനും, യേശു നമുക്കുവേണ്ടി മരിച്ചതുകൊണ്ട് ദൈവം നമ്മോടു ക്ഷമിക്കുകയും നമ്മെ അംഗീകരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യും. BSB BSB: But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.
9 IEV എന്നാല്‍ ചെയ്യുമെന്നു ദൈവം പറയുന്നത് അവന്‍ എല്ലായ്പ്പോഴും ചെയ്യുകയും, അവന്‍ ചെയ്യുന്നത് എല്ലായ്പ്പോഴും ശരിയുമാണ്. ആയതിനാല്‍ നമ്മള്‍ പാപം ചെയ്തുവെന്ന് അവനോട് സമ്മതിച്ചാല്‍, അവന്‍ നമ്മോടു നമ്മുടെ പാപങ്ങളെ ക്ഷമിക്കുകയും നമ്മള്‍ ചെയ്ത എല്ലാ തെറ്റുകളുടെ അപരാധത്തില്‍നിന്നും നമ്മെ സ്വതന്ത്രരാക്കുകയും ചെയ്യും. അതുകൊണ്ട്, നാം പാപം ചെയ്തുവെന്ന് അവനോടു സമ്മതിക്കുക. BSB BSB: If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10 IEV എന്തെന്നാല്‍, എല്ലാവരും പാപികളാണെന്നു ദൈവം പറയുന്നു. ഒരിക്കലും പാപം ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ല എന്നു പറയുന്നവര്‍ ദൈവത്തെ കള്ളം പറയുന്നവനാക്കുന്നു! ദൈവം നമ്മെക്കുറിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞത് അവര്‍ തള്ളിക്കളയുന്നു. BSB BSB: If we say we have not sinned, we make Him out to be a liar, and His word is not in us.
