BSB BSB: Now the LORD said to Samuel, “How long are you going to mourn for Saul, since I have rejected him as king over Israel? Fill your horn with oil and go. I am sending you to Jesse of Bethlehem, for I have selected from his sons a king for Myself.”

BSB BSB: “How can I go?” Samuel asked. “Saul will hear of it and kill me!” The LORD answered, “Take a heifer with you and say, ‘I have come to sacrifice to the LORD.’

BSB BSB: “In peace,” he replied. “I have come to sacrifice to the LORD. Consecrate yourselves and come with me to the sacrifice.” Then he consecrated Jesse and his sons and invited them to the sacrifice.

BSB BSB: But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or height, for I have rejected him; the LORD does not see as man does. For man sees the outward appearance, but the LORD sees the heart.”

BSB BSB: And Samuel asked him, “Are these all the sons you have?” “There is still the youngest,” Jesse replied, “but he is tending the sheep.” “Send for him,” Samuel replied. “For we will not sit down to eat until he arrives.”

BSB BSB: So Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the presence of his brothers, and the Spirit of the LORD rushed upon David from that day forward. Then Samuel set out and went to Ramah.
14 ULB എന്നാൽ യഹോവയുടെ ആത്മാവ് ശൗലിനെ വിട്ടുമാറി; യഹോവ അയച്ച ഒരു ദുരാത്മാവ് അവനെ ബാധിച്ചു. BSB BSB: Now the Spirit of the LORD departed from Saul, and a spirit of distress from the LORD began to torment him.

16 ULB “അതുകൊണ്ട് കിന്നരവായനയിൽ നിപുണനായ ഒരുവനെ അന്വേഷിപ്പാൻ തിരുമനസ്സുകൊണ്ട് അടിയങ്ങൾക്ക് കല്പന തരണം; എന്നാൽ ദൈവത്തിൽനിന്ന് ദുരാത്മാവ് തിരുമേനിമേൽ വരുമ്പോൾ അവൻ കൈകൊണ്ട് വായിക്കയും തിരുമേനിക്ക് ഭേദം വരുകയും ചെയ്യും” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. BSB BSB: Let our lord command your servants here to seek out someone who can skillfully play the harp. Whenever the spirit of distress from God is upon you, he is to play it, and you will be well.”
17 ULB ശൗൽ തന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരോട്: “കിന്നരവായനയിൽ നിപുണനായ ഒരുവനെ അന്വേഷിച്ചുകൊണ്ടുവരുവിൻ” എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു. BSB BSB: And Saul commanded his servants, “Find me someone who plays well, and bring him to me.”
18 ULB ബാല്യക്കാരിൽ ഒരുവൻ: “ബേത്ത്ലഹേംകാരനായ യിശ്ശായിയുടെ ഒരു മകനെ ഞാൻ കണ്ടിട്ടുണ്ട്; അവൻ കിന്നരവായനയിൽ നിപുണനും, ധൈര്യശാലിയായ യോദ്ധാവും, വാക്ചാതുര്യമുള്ളവനും കോമളനും ആകുന്നു; യഹോവ അവനോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ട്” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. BSB BSB: One of the servants answered, “I have seen a son of Jesse of Bethlehem who knows how to play the harp. He is a mighty man of valor, a warrior, eloquent and handsome, and the LORD is with him.”
19 ULB അതുകൊണ്ട് ശൗൽ യിശ്ശായിയുടെ അടുക്കൽ ദൂതന്മാരെ അയച്ചു: “ആട്ടിടയനായ നിന്റെ മകൻ ദാവീദിനെ എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ അയക്കണം” എന്നു പറയിച്ചു. BSB BSB: So Saul sent messengers to Jesse and said, “Send me your son David, who is with the sheep.”
20 ULB യിശ്ശായി ഒരു കഴുതയെ വരുത്തി, അതിന്റെ പുറത്ത് അപ്പം, ഒരു തുരുത്തി വീഞ്ഞ്, ഒരു കോലാട്ടിൻകുട്ടി എന്നിവ കയറ്റി തന്റെ മകൻ ദാവീദിന്റെ കൈവശം ശൗലിന് കൊടുത്തയച്ചു. BSB BSB: And Jesse took a donkey loaded with bread, a skin of wine, and one young goat and sent them to Saul with his son David.

22 ULB അതുകൊണ്ട് ശൗൽ യിശ്ശായിയുടെ അടുക്കൽ ആളയച്ചു: ദാവീദിനോട് എനിക്ക് ഇഷ്ടം തോന്നിയിരിക്കുന്നതിനാൽ അവൻ എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ താമസിക്കട്ടെ എന്നു പറയിച്ചു. BSB BSB: Then Saul sent word to Jesse, saying, “Let David remain in my service, for I am pleased with him.”

BSB BSB: And whenever the spirit from God came upon Saul, David would pick up his harp and play. Then Saul would find relief and feel better, and the spirit of distress would depart from him.
