And David grew stronger and stronger, while the house of Saul grew weaker and weaker.

I have not delivered you into the hand of David, but now you accuse me of wrongdoing with this woman!

9ശൗലിന്റെ ഗൃഹത്തിൽനിന്ന് രാജത്വം മാറ്റുകയും ദാവീദിന്റെ സിംഹാസനം ദാൻമുതൽ ബേർ-ശേബവരെ യിസ്രായേലിലും യെഹൂദയിലും സ്ഥാപിക്കയും ചെയ്‌വാൻ തക്കവണ്ണംMay God punish Abner, and ever so severely, if I do not do for David what the LORD has sworn to him:

11ഈശ്-ബോശെത്ത് അബ്നേരിനെ ഭയപ്പെടുകകൊണ്ട് അവനോട് പിന്നെ ഒരു വാക്കും പറവാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല.And for fear of Abner, Ish-bosheth did not dare to say another word to him.

19അങ്ങനെ തന്നെ അബ്നേർ ബെന്യാമീന്യരോടും പറഞ്ഞു; പിന്നെ അബ്നേർ യിസ്രായേലിനും ബെന്യാമീൻ ഗൃഹത്തിന്നൊക്കെയും സമ്മതമായതെല്ലാം ദാവീദിനോട് അറിയിക്കേണ്ടതിന് ഹെബ്രോനിൽ പോയി.Abner also spoke to the Benjamites. Then he went to Hebron to tell David all that seemed good to Israel and to the whole house of Benjamin.

20ഇങ്ങനെ അബ്നേരും അവനോടുകൂടെ ഇരുപത് പുരുഷന്മാരും ഹെബ്രോനിൽ ദാവീദിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നു. ദാവീദ് അബ്നേരിനും അവനോടു കൂടെയുള്ള പുരുഷന്മാർക്കും വേണ്ടി ഒരു വിരുന്നു കഴിച്ചു.When Abner and twenty of his men came to David at Hebron, David held a feast for them.

But Abner was not with David in Hebron, because David had sent him on his way in peace.

25അവൻ പോയല്ലോ! നേരിന്റെ മകനായ അബ്നേർ നിന്നെ ചതിപ്പാനും നിന്റെ പോക്കും വരവും ഗ്രഹിപ്പാനും നീ ചെയ്യുന്നതൊക്കെയും അറിവാനുമല്ലോ വന്നത് എന്ന് നിനക്ക് അറിയുകയില്ലേ?” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.Surely you realize that Abner son of Ner came to deceive you and to track your movements and all that you are doing.”

26യോവാബ് ദാവീദിന്റെ സന്നിധിയിൽനിന്ന് പുറത്തിറങ്ങി അബ്നേരിന്റെ പിന്നാലെ സന്ദേശവാഹകരെ അയച്ചു; അവർ അവനെ സീരാകിണറ്റിങ്കൽനിന്ന് മടക്കിക്കൊണ്ടുവന്നു; ദാവീദ് അത് അറിഞ്ഞില്ലതാനും.As soon as Joab had left David, he sent messengers after Abner, who brought him back from the well of Sirah. But David was unaware of it.

So Abner died on account of the blood of Joab’s brother Asahel.

30അബ്നേർ ഗിബെയോനിലെ യുദ്ധത്തിൽ തങ്ങളുടെ അനുജനായ അസാഹേലിനെ കൊന്നതുനിമിത്തം യോവാബും അവന്റെ സഹോദരനായ അബീശായിയും ഇങ്ങനെ അവനെ കൊന്നുകളഞ്ഞു.(Joab and his brother Abishai murdered Abner because he had killed their brother Asahel in the battle at Gibeon.)

As a man falls before the wicked, so also you fell.” And all the people wept over him even more.

37നേരിന്റെ പുത്രനായ അബ്നേരിനെ കൊന്നത് രാജാവിന്റെ അറിവോടെയല്ല എന്ന് സകലജനത്തിനും യിസ്രായേലിനൊക്കെയും അന്ന് ബോധ്യമായി.So on that day all the troops and all Israel were convinced that the king had no part in the murder of Abner son of Ner.

May the LORD repay the evildoer according to his evil!”
