1അതിന് ഇയ്യോബ് ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞത്:Then Job answered:

2“അത് അങ്ങനെ തന്നെ എന്ന് എനിക്കും അറിയാം നിശ്ചയം; ദൈവസന്നിധിയിൽ മർത്യൻ നീതിമാനാകുന്നതെങ്ങനെ?“Yes, I know that it is so, but how can a mortal be righteous before God?

3ഒരുവന് യഹോവയോട് വാദിക്കുവാൻ ഇഷ്ടം തോന്നിയാൽ ആയിരത്തിൽ ഒന്നിനു പോലും ഉത്തരം പറയുവാൻ കഴിയുകയില്ല.If one wished to contend with God, he could not answer Him one time out of a thousand.

4അവിടുന്ന് ജ്ഞാനിയും മഹാശക്തനുമാകുന്നു; അവിടുത്തോട് ശഠിച്ചിട്ട് വിജയിച്ചവൻ ആര്?God is wise in heart and mighty in strength. Who has resisted Him and prospered?

5അവിടുന്ന് പർവ്വതങ്ങളെ അവ അറിയാതെ നീക്കിക്കളയുന്നു; അവിടുത്തെ കോപത്തിൽ അവയെ മറിച്ചുകളയുന്നു.He moves mountains without their knowledge and overturns them in His anger.

6അവിടുന്ന് ഭൂമിയെ സ്വസ്ഥാനത്തുനിന്ന് ഇളക്കുന്നു; അതിന്റെ തൂണുകൾ കുലുങ്ങിപ്പോകുന്നു.He shakes the earth from its place, so that its foundations tremble.

7അവിടുന്ന് സൂര്യനോട് കല്പിക്കുന്നു; അത് ഉദിക്കാതെയിരിക്കുന്നു; അവിടുന്ന് നക്ഷത്രങ്ങളെ പൊതിഞ്ഞ് മുദ്രയിടുന്നു.He commands the sun not to shine; He seals off the stars.

8അവിടുന്ന് തനിച്ച് ആകാശത്തെ വിരിക്കുന്നു; സമുദ്രത്തിലെ തിരമാലകളിന്മേൽ അവിടുന്ന് നടക്കുന്നു.He alone stretches out the heavens and treads on the waves of the sea.

9അവിടുന്ന് സപ്തർഷി, മകയിരം, കാർത്തിക, ഇവയെയും തെക്കെ നക്ഷത്രമണ്ഡലത്തെയും ഉണ്ടാക്കുന്നു.He is the Maker of the Bear and Orion, of the Pleiades and the constellations of the south.

10യഹോവ അറിഞ്ഞുകൂടാത്ത വൻ കാര്യങ്ങളും എണ്ണമില്ലാത്ത അത്ഭുതങ്ങളും ചെയ്യുന്നു.He does great things beyond searching out, and wonders without number.

11അവിടുന്ന് എന്റെ അരികിൽ കൂടി കടക്കുന്നു; ഞാൻ അവിടുത്തെ കാണുന്നില്ല; അവിടുന്ന് കടന്നുപോകുന്നു; ഞാൻ അവിടുത്തെ അറിയുന്നതുമില്ല.Were He to pass by me, I would not see Him; were He to move, I would not recognize Him.

12അവിടുന്ന് പറിച്ചെടുക്കുന്നു; ആര് അവിടുത്തെ തടുക്കും? ‘നീ എന്ത് ചെയ്യുന്നു’ എന്ന് ആര് ചോദിക്കും?If He takes away, who can stop Him? Who dares to ask Him, ‘What are You doing?’

13ദൈവം തന്റെ കോപം പിൻവലിക്കുന്നില്ല; രഹബിന്റെ സഹായികൾ അവിടുത്തെ വണങ്ങുന്നു.God does not restrain His anger; the helpers of Rahab cower beneath Him.

14പിന്നെ ഞാൻ അങ്ങയോട് ഉത്തരം പറയുന്നതും അങ്ങയോട് വാദിപ്പാൻ വാക്ക് തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കുന്നതും എങ്ങനെ?How then can I answer Him or choose my arguments against Him?

15ഞാൻ നീതിമാനായിരുന്നാലും അങ്ങയോട് ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞുകൂടാ; എന്റെ പ്രതിയോഗിയോട് ഞാൻ യാചിക്കേണ്ടിവരും.For even if I were right, I could not answer. I could only beg my Judge for mercy.

16ഞാൻ വിളിച്ചിട്ട് അവിടുന്ന് ഉത്തരം അരുളിയാലും എന്റെ അപേക്ഷ കേൾക്കും എന്ന് ഞാൻ വിശ്വസിക്കുകയില്ല.If I summoned Him and He answered me, I do not believe He would listen to my voice.

17കൊടുങ്കാറ്റുകൊണ്ട് അവിടുന്ന് എന്നെ തകർക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ; കാരണംകൂടാതെ എന്റെ മുറിവുകൾ വർദ്ധിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.For He would crush me with a tempest and multiply my wounds without cause.

18ശ്വസിക്കുവാൻ എന്നെ സമ്മതിക്കുന്നില്ല; കൈപ്പുകൊണ്ട് എന്റെ വയറ് നിറയ്ക്കുന്നു.He does not let me catch my breath, but overwhelms me with bitterness.

19ബലം വിചാരിച്ചാൽ: ദൈവം തന്നെ ബലവാൻ; ന്യായവിധി വിചാരിച്ചാൽ: ആര് എനിയ്ക്ക് അവധി നിശ്ചയിക്കും?If it is a matter of strength, He is indeed mighty! If it is a matter of justice, who can summon Him?

20ഞാൻ നീതിമാനായാലും എന്റെ സ്വന്ത വായ് എന്നെ കുറ്റം വിധിക്കും; ഞാൻ നിഷ്കളങ്കനായാലും അവിടുന്ന് എനിയ്ക്ക് കുറ്റം ആരോപിക്കും.Even if I were righteous, my mouth would condemn me; if I were blameless, it would declare me guilty.

21ഞാൻ നിഷ്കളങ്കൻ; ഞാൻ എന്റെ പ്രാണനെ കരുതുന്നില്ല; എന്റെ ജീവനെ ഞാൻ നിരസിക്കുന്നു.Though I am blameless, I have no concern for myself; I despise my own life.

22അതെല്ലാം ഒരുപോലെ; അതുകൊണ്ട് ഞാൻ പറയുന്നത്: അവിടുന്ന് നിഷ്കളങ്കനെയും ദുഷ്ടനെയും നശിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.It is all the same, and so I say, ‘He destroys both the blameless and the wicked.’

23ബാധ പെട്ടെന്ന് കൊല്ലുന്നുവെങ്കിൽ നിർദ്ദോഷികളുടെ നിരാശ കണ്ട് അവിടുന്ന് ചിരിക്കുന്നു.When the scourge brings sudden death, He mocks the despair of the innocent.

24ഭൂമി ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ കയ്യിൽ ഏല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; അതിലെ ന്യായാധിപന്മാരുടെ മുഖം അവിടുന്ന് മൂടിക്കളയുന്നു; അത് അവിടുന്നല്ലെങ്കിൽ പിന്നെ ആര്?The earth is given into the hand of the wicked; He blindfolds its judges. If it is not He, then who is it?

25എന്റെ ആയുഷ്കാലം ഓട്ടക്കാരനെക്കാൾ വേഗം പോകുന്നു; അത് നന്മ കാണാതെ ഓടിപ്പോകുന്നു.My days are swifter than a runner; they flee without seeing good.

26അത് ഓടത്തണ്ടുകൊണ്ടുള്ള വള്ളംപോലെയും ഇരയെ റാഞ്ചുന്ന കഴുകനെപ്പോലെയും കടന്നു പോകുന്നു.They sweep by like boats of papyrus, like an eagle swooping down on its prey.

27ഞാൻ എന്റെ സങ്കടം മറന്ന്, മുഖവിഷാദം കളഞ്ഞ്, പ്രസന്നതയോടെ ഇരിക്കുമെന്നു പറഞ്ഞാൽ,If I were to say, ‘I will forget my complaint and change my expression and smile,’

28ഞാൻ എന്റെ വ്യസനം എല്ലാം ഓർത്ത് ഭയപ്പെടുന്നു; അവിടുന്ന് എന്നെ നിർദ്ദോഷിയായി എണ്ണുകയില്ലെന്ന് ഞാൻ അറിയുന്നു.I would still dread all my sufferings; I know that You will not acquit me.

29എന്നെ കുറ്റം വിധിക്കുകയേയുള്ളു; പിന്നെ ഞാൻ വൃഥാ പ്രയത്നിക്കുന്നതെന്തിന്?Since I am already found guilty, why should I labor in vain?

30ഞാൻ ഹിമംകൊണ്ട് എന്നെ കഴുകിയാലും ക്ഷാരജലംകൊണ്ട് എന്റെ കൈ വെടിപ്പാക്കിയാലുംIf I should wash myself with snow and cleanse my hands with lye,

31അവിടുന്ന് എന്നെ ചേറ്റുകുഴിയിൽ മുക്കിക്കളയും; എന്റെ വസ്ത്രംപോലും എന്നെ വെറുക്കും.then You would plunge me into the pit, and even my own clothes would despise me.

32ഞാൻ അങ്ങയോട് പ്രതിവാദിക്കേണ്ടതിനും ഞങ്ങളൊരുമിച്ച് ന്യായവിസ്താരത്തിന് ചെല്ലേണ്ടതിനും അവിടുന്ന് എന്നെപ്പോലെ മനുഷ്യനല്ലല്ലോ.For He is not a man like me, that I can answer Him, that we can take each other to court.

33ഞങ്ങളെ ഇരുവരെയും പറഞ്ഞു നിർത്തേണ്ടതിന് ഞങ്ങളുടെ നടുവിൽ ഒരു മദ്ധ്യസ്ഥനുമില്ല.Nor is there a mediator between us, to lay his hand upon us both.

34ദൈവം തന്റെ വടി എന്നിൽനിന്ന് നീക്കട്ടെ; അവിടുത്തെ ഘോരത്വം എന്നെ പേടിപ്പിക്കാതിരിക്കട്ടെ;Let Him remove His rod from me, so that His terror will no longer frighten me.

35അപ്പോൾ ഞാൻ യഹോവയെ പേടിക്കാതെ സംസാരിക്കും; ഇപ്പോൾ എന്റെ സ്ഥിതി അങ്ങനെയല്ലല്ലോ.”Then I would speak without fear of Him. But as it is, I am on my own.
