1 UDB भाइहरू तथा बहिनीहरू, तिमीहरूले यो याद गर भनी म इच्छा गर्छु, हाम्रा यहूदी पुर्खाहरू परमेश्वरको पछि हिंड्दै थिए जसले तिनीहरूलाई दिनको समयमा बादलद्वारा मिश्रदेशबाट बाहिर ल्याउनुभयो र लाल समुद्रमा तिनीहरू सुख्खा जमिनमा हिंडेर पार गरे। BSB BSB: I do not want you to be unaware, brothers, that our forefathers were all under the cloud, and that they all passed through the sea.
2 UDB र जसरी ख्रीष्टमा हाम्रो बप्तिष्मा भएको छ त्यसरी नै बादलमा र समुद्र पार गर्दा मोशा परमेश्वरको पछि लागे झैं इस्राएलीहरू तिनको पछि लाग्नुपर्ने थियो। BSB BSB: They were all baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea.
3 UDB परमेश्वरले तिनीहरूलाई स्वर्गबाट दिनुभएको अलौकिक मन्न तिनीहरू सबैले खाए, BSB BSB: They all ate the same spiritual food
4 UDB र मोशाले चट्टानलाई हिर्काउँदा परमेश्वरले तिनीहरूलाई दिनुभएको अलौकिक पानी तिनीहरू सबैले पिए। त्यो चट्टान ख्रीष्ट हुनुहुन्थ्यो। BSB BSB: and drank the same spiritual drink; for they drank from the spiritual rock that accompanied them, and that rock was Christ.
5 UDB तर तिनीहरूमध्ये धेरै जनासँग परमेश्वर रिसाउनु भयो, किनभने तिनीहरूले अरू देवताहरूको पूजा गरे र उहाँको विरुद्धमा विद्रोह गरे, यसकारण तिनीहरूका मृत शरीरहरू उजाड-स्थानभरि पसारो परे। BSB BSB: Nevertheless, God was not pleased with most of them, for they were struck down in the wilderness.
6 UDB अहिले यी कुराहरू हाम्रा निम्ति उदाहरण हुन्, यसकारण हामीले तिनीहरूले गरे झैं दुष्ट कुराहरूको तीव्र इच्छा गर्नुहुँदैन। BSB BSB: These things took place as examples to keep us from craving evil things as they did.
7 UDB हाम्रा पुर्खाहरूमध्ये कसैले मूर्तिहरूको पनि पूजा गरे। जस्तो धर्मशास्त्रले भन्छ, “मानिसहरू खान र पिउनलाई बसे अनि तिनीहरू यौनको किसिमले जङ्गली रूपले नाच्नलाई उठे।” BSB BSB: Do not be idolaters, as some of them were. As it is written: “The people sat down to eat and drink and got up to indulge in revelry.”
8 UDB हाम्रा यहूदी पुर्खाहरूका यौनको अनैतिकताको कारणले एक दिनमा तिनीहरूमध्ये तेइस हजार जना मरे। BSB BSB: We should not commit sexual immorality, as some of them did, and in one day twenty-three thousand of them died.
9 UDB हामीले ख्रीष्टको अनाज्ञाकारी भएर उहाँको अधिकारको जाँच नगरौं, जस्तो हाम्रा केही पुर्खाहरूले गरे, र विषालु सर्पहरूले तिनीहरूलाई मारे। BSB BSB: We should not test Christ, as some of them did, and were killed by snakes.
10 UDB परमेश्वरले जे जुटाउनुहुन्छ त्यसमा गनगन नगर जस्तो हाम्रा केही पुर्खाहरूले गरे, र एउटा स्वर्गदूतले तिनीहरूलाई नष्ट पारे। BSB BSB: And do not complain, as some of them did, and were killed by the destroying angel.
11 UDB अब हाम्रा पुर्खाहरूलाई यी कुराहरू भए। यसैले ती लेखिए कि हामीले– जो संसारको अन्त नजिकै बाँचिरहेका छौं तिनीहरूबाट सिक्न सकौं। BSB BSB: Now these things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us, on whom the fulfillment of the ages has come.
12 UDB र पाठ यो होः तिमीहरू बलिया छौ र बलियो किसिमले खडा भइरहेको छौ भन्ने विचार तिमीहरूलाई हुन्छ भने, धेरै होसियार रहो, किनभने यतिबेला तिमीहरू लड्न सक्छौ। BSB BSB: So the one who thinks he is standing firm should be careful not to fall.
13 UDB तिमीहरूले सामना गर्नुपरेका हरेक परीक्षालाई हामी सबैले सामना गर्नुपर्छ, तर परमेश्वरले हामीलाई आफ्नो प्रतिज्ञा दिनुभएको छ, र पापसित लड्ने तिमीहरूका योग्यताहरू भन्दा ठूलो परीक्षा उहाँले आउन दिनुहुने छैन। जब परीक्षा आउँछ, त्यसबाट स्वतन्त्र हुनलाई परमेश्वरले तिमीहरूलाई एउटा उपाय दिनुहुनेछ, जसले गर्दा पाप गर्ने परीक्षालाई तिमीहरूले सहन सक्छौ। BSB BSB: No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide an escape, so that you can stand up under it.
14 UDB यसकारण, मेरा प्रियहरू हो, मूर्तिपुजाबाट तिमीहरूले सक्ने जति टाढा भाग। BSB BSB: Therefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry.
15 UDB तिमीहरू कसरी जिउँछौ भनी होसियारसाथ विचार गर्ने मानिसहरूसँग झैं म तिमीहरू बोल्छु। मैले यहाँ जे भन्दैछु त्यसको बारेमा विचार गर। BSB BSB: I speak to reasonable people; judge for yourselves what I say.
16 UDB जब हामीले आशिष मागेको कचौराबाट हामी पिउँछौं, हामी ख्रीष्टको रगतमा सहभागी हुन्छौंँ। जब हामी रोटी भाच्दा, हामी ख्रीष्टको शरीरमा सहभागी हुन्छौं। BSB BSB: Is not the cup of blessing that we bless a participation in the blood of Christ? And is not the bread that we break a participation in the body of Christ?
17 UDB त्यहाँ एउटै मात्र रोटी छ, र हामी धेरै जना भए तापनि, हामी सबै एकसाथ एउटै शरीर हुन्छौं र एउटै रोटीबाट लिएर हामी सबैले सँगै खान्छौं। BSB BSB: Because there is one loaf, we who are many are one body; for we all partake of the one loaf.
18 UDB इस्राएलका मानिसहरूको बारेमा विचार गर। वेदीको बलिदानहरूबाट खानेहरू वेदीमा सहभागी हुन्छन्। BSB BSB: Consider the people of Israel: Are not those who eat the sacrifices fellow partakers in the altar?
19 UDB यसैले म भन्दैछु कि मूर्ति केही त्यस्तो वास्तविक कुरा होइन, र मूर्तिलाई चढाएको बलिदानका खानेकुरा खानु महत्त्वपूर्ण कुरा पनि होइन। तर त्यसो भए तापनि, यहाँ महत्वपूर्ण समस्याहरू छन्। BSB BSB: Am I suggesting, then, that food sacrificed to an idol is anything, or that an idol is anything?
20 UDB मैले भन्न खोजेको कुरा यो होः जब गैरयहूदीहरूले आफ्ना बलिदानहरू चढाउँछन्, तिनीहरूले ती साँचो रूपले शैतानलाई चढाँउछन् र परमेश्वरलाई होइन। र कुनै कुरामा तिमीहरू शैतानसँग सहभागी होओ भन्ने म इच्छा गर्दिन। BSB BSB: No, but the sacrifices of pagans are offered to demons, not to God. And I do not want you to be participants with demons.
21 UDB तिमीहरूले प्रभुको कचौराबाट पिउने र त्यसपछि शैतानको कचौराबाट पिउने गर्नुहुँदैन। तिमीहरू प्रभुभोजमा सहभागी हुने र त्यसपछि शैतानको भोज खाने गर्नुहुँदैन BSB BSB: You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons too; you cannot partake in the table of the Lord and the table of demons too.
22 UDB त्यसो गर्नुले प्रभुलाई डाहा गर्ने बनाएर रिसाउने बानउछ। तिमीहरू उहाँ भन्दा बलिया छैनौ! BSB BSB: Are we trying to provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than He?
23 UDB कसैले भन्छ, “हरेक कुरा न्यायसंगत छ,” तर हरेक कुरा नै हाम्रा वा अरू मानिसका भलाइका निम्ति होइनन्। अथवा मानिसहरूको लागि असल छ। हो, “हरेक कुरा न्यायसंगत छ,” तर हरेक कुराले मानिसहरूको परमेश्वरसँगको जीवनमा तिनीहरूलाई बलियो हुन मद्दत गर्दैनन्। BSB BSB: “Everything is permissible,” but not everything is beneficial. “Everything is permissible,” but not everything is edifying.
24 UDB आफ्नो भलाइको निम्ति मात्र काम गर्ने होइन, तर अरू मानिसहरूका भलाइको निम्ति पनि काम गर। हामी सबैले हरेकलाई मद्दत गर्ने तरिकाले काम गर्नुपर्छ। BSB BSB: No one should seek his own good, but the good of others.
25 UDB यहाँ हाम्रो नियम छः कतै त्यो मासु मूर्तिलाई बलिदान चढाएको हो कि होइन भनेर नसोधिकन तिमीहरूले इच्छा गरेको मासु बजारबाट किन्न र खान सक्छौ। BSB BSB: Eat anything sold in the meat market without raising questions of conscience,
26 UDB जस्तोै भजन लेखक भन्छन्, “यो पृथ्वी र यसमा भएका सम्पूर्ण कुरा परमप्रभुकै हुन्।” BSB BSB: for, “The earth is the Lord’s, and the fullness thereof.”
27 UDB अविश्वासी गैरयहूदीले तिमीहरूलाई भोजनको निम्ति निम्तो दिन्छन् र तिमीहरूलाई जाने इच्छा छ भने, तिनले तिमीहरूलाई जे दिन्छन् त्यो खाओ। उसले भोजन कहाँबाट किनेको हो भनेर तिमीहरूले उसलाई सोध्नुपर्छ भन्ने परमेश्वरको इच्छा होइन। BSB BSB: If an unbeliever invites you to a meal and you want to go, eat anything set before you without raising questions of conscience.
28 UDB तर कसैले तिमीहरूलाई यसो भन्छ, “हामीले यो भोजन मूर्तिको मन्दिरबाट किनेको हो र यो देवताहरूलाई बलिदान चढाइएको हो,” तब यो भोजन दिने व्यक्तिको भलाइको निम्ति, अनि सही र गलतको बुद्दिमा विवाद नल्याउनको निम्ति त्यो खाना नखाओ। BSB BSB: But if someone tells you, “This food was offered to idols,” then do not eat it, for the sake of the one who told you and for the sake of conscience—
29 UDB त्यो व्यक्तिले कसरी सही र गलत कुराको बारेमा विचार गर्छ भन्ने सम्बन्धमा होशियार हुनलाई यो कुरा गर्नुपर्छ र तिमीहरूले कसरी विचार गर्छौ भन्ने बारेमा होइन। अर्को व्यक्तिले जे ठिक वा बेठीक हो भनी विश्वास गर्छ सो कुराले मेरो व्यक्तिगत रोजाइमा परिवर्तन हुनुहुँदैन। BSB BSB: the other one’s conscience, I mean, not your own. For why should my freedom be determined by someone else’s conscience?
30 UDB धन्यवादसाथ मैले भोजनबाट आनन्द लिन्छु भने, मलाई दोष लगाउने अनुमति म अरू कसैलाई दिन्न। BSB BSB: If I partake in the meal with thankfulness, why am I denounced because of that for which I give thanks?
31 UDB यहाँ नियम यस्तो हुन्छ कि तिमीहरूलाई दिइएका कुरा तिमीहरूले खान्छौ वा पिउँछौ, तिमीहरूले जेसुकै गर्छौ, हरेक कुरा यसरी गर जसले गर्दा तिमीहरूले परमेश्वरलाई प्रशंसा दिन सक। BSB BSB: So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all to the glory of God.
32 UDB यस्ताो समस्याहरूका बारेमा यहूदीहरू वा ग्रिकहरू वा परमेश्वरको मण्डलीमा भएकाहरूको चित्त दुखाउने काम नगर। BSB BSB: Do not become a stumbling block, whether to Jews or Greeks or the church of God—
33 UDB सम्भव हुने हरेक किसिमले मैले सक्ने हरेकलाई खुशी तुल्याउनु मेरो कर्तव्य हो। मेरो आफ्नै भलाइ खोज्नलाई मैले यो काम गर्ने होइन। बरु, अरू मानिसहरूलाई मद्दत गरेर म तिनीहरूको निर्माण गर्ने प्रयास गर्छु जसले गर्दा परमेश्वरले तिनीहरूलाई बचाउन सक्नुहुन्छ। BSB BSB: as I also try to please everyone in all I do. For I am not seeking my own good, but the good of many, that they may be saved.
