3 UDB येशूले भन्नुभयो, “यो मानिसले वा उसका बाबु-आमाले पाप गरेकोले होइन। ऊ दृष्टी विहिन जन्मियो ता कि आज परमेश्वरले उसमा गर्नुहुने शक्तिशाली काम मानिसहरूले देखून्।” BSB BSB: Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but this happened so that the works of God would be displayed in him.
4 UDB मलाई पठाउनुहुनेको कामहरू हामीले दिन छँदै गर्नुपर्छ। रात आउँदैछ र जब त्यो आइपुग्छ, कसैले पनि काम गर्न सक्नेछैन। BSB BSB: While it is daytime, we must do the works of Him who sent Me. Night is coming, when no one can work.
5 UDB जबसम्म म संसार रहन्छु, म संसारको ज्योति हुँ।” BSB BSB: While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”
6 UDB उहाँले यसो भनेपछि, उहाँले जमिनमा थुक्नुभयो। आफ्नो थुकले उहाँले हिलो बनाउनुभयो, र त्यस मानिसको आँखामा त्यो औषधि जस्तो लगाइ दिनुभयो। BSB BSB: When Jesus had said this, He spit on the ground, made some mud, and applied it to the man’s eyes.
8 UDB त्यस मानिसकाो छिमेकीहरू र त्यसले मग्दैगर्दा त्यसलाई देखेका अरूहरूले भने, “के त्यही मानिस होइन, जो यहाँी बस्थ्यो र माग्थ्यो?” BSB BSB: At this, his neighbors and those who had formerly seen him begging began to ask, “Isn’t this the man who used to sit and beg?”
9 UDB केसैले भने, “त्यो त्यही हो।” अरूहरूले भने, “होइन, तर ऊ दुरुस्त त्यो मानिस जस्तै देखिन्छ।” तापनि, त्यो मानिस आफैँले भन्यो, “हो, म त्यही मानिस हुँ!” BSB BSB: Some claimed that he was, but others said, “No, he just looks like him.” But the man kept saying, “I am the one.”
10 UDB यसैले तिनीहरूले त्यसलाई भने, “तिमी अहिले कसरी देख्न सक्ने भयौ?” BSB BSB: “How then were your eyes opened?” they asked.
11 UDB त्यसले जवाफ दियो, “येशू नामका मानिसले अलिकति हिलो बनाउनुभयो र त्यो औषधी जस्तो प्रयोग गर्नुभयो र त्यो मेरो आँखामा लगाई दिनुभयो। त्यसपछि उहाँले मलाई सिलोआमको पोखरीमा जान र धुन भन्नुभयो। यसैले म त्यहाँ गएँ र धोएँ, र त्यसपछि मैले पहिलो पटक देख्न सकें।” BSB BSB: He answered, “The man they call Jesus made some mud and anointed my eyes, and He told me to go to Siloam and wash. So I went and washed and received my sight.”

14 UDB यतिबेला येशूले यो आश्चर्य काम गर्नुहुँदा विश्राम-दिन थियो। BSB BSB: Now the day on which Jesus had made the mud and opened his eyes was a Sabbath.
15 UDB यसैले त्यसले यतिबेला कसरी देख्न सक्ने भयो भन्ने बारेमा फरिसीहरूले त्यस मानिसलाई फेरि सोधे। त्यसले तिनीहरूलाई भन्यो, “ती मानिसले मेरो आँखामा हिलो लगाइदिए र मैले धोएँ र अहिले म देख्छु।” BSB BSB: So the Pharisees also asked him how he had received his sight. The man answered, “He put mud on my eyes, and I washed, and now I can see.”
16 UDB फरिसीहरूमध्ये कोहीले भने, “हामी जान्दछौ यो येशू भन्ने मानिस परमेश्वरबाट आएको होइन किनभने त्यसले विश्राम-दिन पालन गर्दैन।” त्यस समूहका अरूहरूले सोधे, “यदि त्यो पापी थियो भने, त्यसले शक्तिका त्यस्ता कामहरू कसरी गर्न सक्यो जसलाई हरेकले देख्छ?” यसरी फरिसीहरूको माझमा मतभेद भयो। BSB BSB: Because of this, some of the Pharisees said, “This man is not from God, for He does not keep the Sabbath.” But others said, “How can a sinful man perform such signs?” And there was division among them.
17 UDB तिनीहरूले त्यस दृष्टी विहिन मानिसलाई फेरिी सोधे, “उसको विषयमा तँ के भन्छस्, किनभने तँलाई दृष्टी दिने ऊ नै हो?” त्यस मानिसले भन्यो, “उहाँ एक अगमवक्ता हुनुहुन्छ।” BSB BSB: So once again they asked the man who had been blind, “What do you say about Him, since it was your eyes He opened?” “He is a prophet,” the man replied.
18 UDB अब येशूका विरोधी यहूदीहरूले त्यो मानिस दृष्टी विहिन भएको थियो र त्यसपछि फेरि देख्ने सक्ने भयो भनी विश्वास गरेनन्। यसैले तिनीहरूले त्यस मानिसको बाबु-आमालाई लिएर आउन कसैलाई पठाए ता कि तिनीहरूलाई पनि प्रश्न सोध्न सकियोस्। BSB BSB: The Jews still did not believe that the man had been blind and had received his sight until they summoned his parents
19 UDB तिनीहरूले त्यसका बाबु-आमालाई सोधे, “के यो तिमीहरूको छोरा हो? के तिमीहरू भन्छौ कि यो जन्मेको दिनदेखि नै यो दृष्टी विहिन थियो? त्यसो भए ऊ कसरी देख्न सक्ने भयो त?” BSB BSB: and asked, “Is this your son, the one you say was born blind? So how is it that he can now see?”
20 UDB उसका बाबु-आमाले जवाफ दिए, “हामीलाई थाहा छ कि यो हाम्रो छोरा हो। हामीलाई थाहा छ कि ऊ जन्मेको समयदेखि नै ऊ दृष्टी विहिन थियो। BSB BSB: His parents answered, “We know he is our son, and we know he was born blind.
21 UDB तापनि, अहिले ऊ कसरी देख्न सक्ने भयो हामीलाई थाहा छैन। कसले उसका आँखा निको पारे त्यो पनि हामीलाई थाहा छैन। उसैलाई सोध्नुहोस्, ऊ आफ्नो लागि बोल्न सक्ने ठुलो छ।” BSB BSB: But how he can now see or who opened his eyes, we do not know. Ask him. He is old enough to speak for himself.”
22 UDB येशूका विरोधमा भएका यहूदीहरूले यस अघि नै एक अर्कामा सहमति जनाएका थिए कि येशूलाई ख्रीष्ट हुनुहुन्छ भनी घोषणा गर्ने जो कोहीलाई पनि तिनीहरूले समाउनेछन् र उसलाई सभाघरबाट निकाल्नेछन्। BSB BSB: His parents said this because they were afraid of the Jews. For the Jews had already determined that anyone who confessed Jesus as the Christ would be put out of the synagogue.
23 UDB यसकारण उसका बाबु-आमाले भने, “उसैलाई सोध्नुहोस्, ऊ आफ्नो लागि बोल्न सक्ने ठुलो छ।” BSB BSB: That was why his parents said, “He is old enough. Ask him.”
24 UDB यसैले तिनीहरूले त्यस मानिसलाई बोलाए, जो दृष्टी विहिन भएको थियो, र तिनीहरूका अघि दोस्रो पटक आउन तिनीहरूले त्यसलाई भने। जब ऊ त्यहाँ पुग्यो, तिनीहरूले त्यसलाई भने, “परमेश्वरमा सपथ खाऊ कि तिमी सत्य मात्र बोल्नेछौ! हामी जान्दछौ कि तिमीलाई निको पार्ने यो मानिस एउटा पापी हो र मोशाले हामीलाई दिएको व्यवस्था त्यसले पालन गर्दैन।” BSB BSB: So a second time they called for the man who had been blind and said, “Give glory to God! We know that this man is a sinner.”
25 UDB त्यसले जवाफ दियो, “उहाँ पापी हो वा होइन मलाई थाहा छैन। एउटा कुरा मलाई थाहा छ कि म दृष्टी विहिन थिएँ, तर अब म देख्छु।” BSB BSB: He answered, “Whether He is a sinner I do not know. There is one thing I do know: I was blind, but now I see!”
26 UDB यसैले तिनीहरूले त्यसलाई भने, “उसले तिमीलाई के गर्यो? उसले तिमीलाई कसरी निको पार्यो ता कि तिमी अहिले देख्छौ?” BSB BSB: “What did He do to you?” they asked. “How did He open your eyes?”
27 UDB त्यसले तिनीहरूलाई जवाफ दियो, “त्यो मैले तपाईंहरूलाई यस अघि नै भनी सकेको छु तर तपाईंहरूले मलाई विश्वास गर्नुभएन। मैले तपाईंहरूलाई फेरि भन्न तपाईंहरू किन चाहनुहुन्छ? के तपाईंहरू पनि साँच्चै उहाँका चेलाहरू बन्न इच्छा गर्नुहुन्छ?” BSB BSB: He replied, “I already told you, and you did not listen. Why do you want to hear it again? Do you also want to become His disciples?”
28 UDB त्यसपछि तिनीहरू रिसाए र त्यसको अपमान गरे: “तँ त्यस मानिसके चेला होस्, तर हामी त मोशाका चेलाहरू हौँ! BSB BSB: Then they heaped insults on him and said, “You are His disciple; we are disciples of Moses.
29 UDB हामीलाई जान्दछौं कि परमेश्वर मोशासँग बोल्नुभयो; तर यस मानिसको बारेमा, यो कहाँबाट आएको हो भन्ने पनि हामीलाई थाहा छैन।” BSB BSB: We know that God spoke to Moses, but we do not know where this man is from.”
30 UDB त्यस मानिसले जवाफ दियो, “त्यो अति छक्क पार्ने कुरा हो! उहाँ कहाँबाट आउनुभएको हो तपाईंहरूलाई थाहा छैन, तर उहाँले नै मेरा आँखा खोलि दिनुभयो ता कि म देख्न सक्छु! BSB BSB: “That is remarkable indeed!” the man said. “You do not know where He is from, and yet He opened my eyes.
31 UDB हामीलाई थाहा छ कि परमेश्वरले पापीहरू, उहाँको व्यवस्थालाई बेवास्ता गर्नेहरूका प्रर्थनाहरू सुन्नुहुन्न, तर उहाँको आराधना गर्ने र उहाँको इच्छा अनुसार गर्ने मानिसहरूको भने उहाँले सुन्नुहुन्छ। BSB BSB: We know that God does not listen to sinners, but He does listen to the one who worships Him and does His will.
32 UDB संसारको सुरुदेखि नै कहीं पनि यो सुनिएको छैन कि कसैले जन्मेदेखि नै दृष्टी विहिन मानिसको आँखा खोल्न सकेको थियो! BSB BSB: Never before has anyone heard of opening the eyes of a man born blind.
33 UDB यदि यी मानिस परमेश्वरबाट आउनुभएको थिएन भने, उहाँले त्यस्तो गर्न सक्नुहुने थिएन!” BSB BSB: If this man were not from God, He could do no such thing.”
34 UDB तिनीहरूले त्यसलाई जवाफ दिए, “तँ पापमा जन्मिस र तेरो सम्पूर्ण जीवन पुरै पापमा नै बिताइस्! के तँसित हामीलाई सिकाउने योग्यता छ भनी विचार गर्छस्?” त्यसपछि तिनीहरूले त्यसलाई सभाघरबाट निकाले। BSB BSB: They replied, “You were born in utter sin, and you are instructing us?” And they threw him out.
35 UDB उहाँले निको पार्नुभएको मानिसलाई फरिसीहरूले के गरे, कसरी तिनीहरूले त्यसलाई सभाघरबाट बाहिर निकाले भन्ने बारेमा येशूले सन्नुभयो। यसैले उहाँ जानुभयो र त्यो मानिसलाई खोज्नुभयो। जब उहाँले त्यस मानिसलाई भेट्टाउनुभयो, उहाँले त्यसलाई भन्नुभयो, “के तिमी म, मानिसको पुत्रमा विश्वास गर्छौ?” BSB BSB: When Jesus heard that they had thrown him out, He found the man and said, “Do you believe in the Son of Man?”
36 UDB त्यस मानिसले जवाफ दियो, “सर, उहाँ को हुनुहुन्छ? मलाई भन्नुहोस् ता कि म उहाँलाई विश्वास गर्न सकूँ।” BSB BSB: “Who is He, Sir?” he replied. “Tell me so that I may believe in Him.”
37 UDB येशूले त्यसलाई भन्नुभयो, “तिमीले उसलाई देखेका छौ। अहिले तिमीसँग बोल्दैगर्ने उही हो।” BSB BSB: “You have already seen Him,” Jesus answered. “He is the One speaking with you.”
38 UDB त्यस मानिसले भन्यो, “प्रभु, म विश्वास गर्छु।” त्यसपछि उसले घुँडा टेक्यो र उहाँको आराधना गर्यो। BSB BSB: “Lord, I believe,” he said. And he worshiped Jesus.
39 UDB येशूले भन्नुभयो, “म संसारको न्याय गर्न यो संसारमा आएको छु ता कि जसले देख्दैनन् तिनीहरूले देख्न सकून् र जसले देख्न सक्छन् तिनीहरू दृष्टी विहिन होउन्।” BSB BSB: Then Jesus declared, “For judgment I have come into this world, so that the blind may see and those who see may become blind.”
40 UDB उहाँसँग भएका कोही फरिसीहरूले उहाँले यसो भन्नुभएको सुने, र तिनीहरूले येशूलाई सोधे, “के हामीहरू पनि दृष्टी विहिन हौं?” BSB BSB: Some of the Pharisees who were with Him heard this, and they asked Him, “Are we blind too?”
41 UDB येशूले तिनीहरूलाई भन्नुभयो, “यदि तिमीहरू दृष्टी विहिन थियौ भने, तिमीहरूमा दोष हुनेथिएन। तापनि, तिमीहरूले अहिले आफ्नो बचाऊ गरेको र ‘हामीहरू देख्छौं’ भनेको कारणले तिमीहरूको दोष तिमीहरूसँग रहिरहन्छ। BSB BSB: “If you were blind,” Jesus replied, “you would not be guilty of sin. But since you claim you can see, your guilt remains.”
