1 UDB ଆପଲ୍ଲ କରୀନ୍ଥରେ ଥିବାବେଳେ, ପାଉଲ ଫ୍ରୁଗୀଆ ଓ ଗାଲାତୀୟ ପରିତ୍ୟାଗ କରି ଏସିଆ ମଧ୍ୟ ଦେଇ ଗଲେ ଏବଂ ସେ ଏଫିସୀକୁ ଆସିଲେ I ସେ କିଛି ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କୁ ସାକ୍ଷାତ କଲେ ଯେଉଁମାନେ କି ବିଶ୍ୱାସୀ ଥିଲେ I BSB BSB: While Apollos was at Corinth, Paul passed through the interior and came to Ephesus. There he found some disciples
2 UDB ପାଉଲ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ପଚ଼ାରିଲେ, "ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ବିଶ୍ୱାସ କଲା ବେଳେ ପବିତ୍ର ଆତ୍ମାଙ୍କୁ ପ୍ରାପ୍ତ ହୋଇଥିଲ କି? ସେମାନେ କହିଲେ," ନାଁ, ଏପରି ଜଣେ ଅଛନ୍ତି ବୋଲି କେବେ ଶୁଣି ନ ଥିଲୁ!" BSB BSB: and asked them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you became believers?” “No,” they answered, “we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.”
3 UDB ପାଉଲ ପୁଣି ପଚ଼ାରିଲେ," ତେବେ ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ କେବେ ବାପ୍ତିଜିତ ହୋଇଥିଲ ଓ ସେ ବିଷୟରେ କ'ଣ ଜାଣିଛ?" ସେମାନେ ଉତ୍ତର କରି କହିଲେ," ବାପ୍ତିଜକ ଯୋହନ ଯାହା ଶିକ୍ଷା ଦେଲେ ତାହା ଆମ୍ଭେ ଜାଣିଛୁ I BSB BSB: “Into what, then, were you baptized?” Paul asked. “The baptism of John,” they replied.
4 UDB ପାଉଲ ଏହା ଶୁଣି କହିଲେ," ଯୋହନଙ୍କର ବାପ୍ତିସ୍ମର ଉଦ୍ଦେଶ୍ୟ ଥିଲା, ଲୋକମାନେ ଯେପରି ନିଜର ମନ ପରିବର୍ତ୍ତନ କରି ପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ଫେରନ୍ତି ଓ ମନ୍ଦ ଚିନ୍ତା ଓ କାର୍ଯ୍ୟରୁ ଦୂରେଇ ଯାଆନ୍ତି। ତେଣୁ ଯେଉଁମାନେ ତାହାଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ଆସୁଥିଲେ, ସେ ସେହି ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କୁ ତାହାଙ୍କ ପରେ ଆସୁଥିବା ବ୍ୟକ୍ତି, ଅର୍ଥାତ୍ ଯୀଶୁଙ୍କଠାରେ ବିଶ୍ୱାସ କରିବା ନିମନ୍ତେ କହୁଥିଲେ।" BSB BSB: Paul explained: “John’s baptism was a baptism of repentance. He told the people to believe in the One coming after him, that is, in Jesus.”
5 UDB ଯେଉଁମାନେ ଏକଥା ଶୁଣିଲେ ସେମାନେ ପ୍ରଭୁ ଯୀଶୁଙ୍କ ନାମରେ ବାପ୍ତିଜିତ ହେଲେ। BSB BSB: On hearing this, they were baptized into the name of the Lord Jesus.
6 UDB ତା’ପରେ ପାଉଲ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ମୁଣ୍ଡରେ ହାତ ରଖିଲେ ଓ ପବିତ୍ର ଆତ୍ମା ସେମାନଙ୍କ ଉପରେ ଓହ୍ଲାଇ ଆସିଲେ। ସେମାନେ ବିଭିନ୍ନ ନ ଶିଖି ଥିବା ଭାଷାରେ କହିବାକୁ ଲାଗିଲେ ଓ ସେମାନେ ମଧ୍ୟ ଭବିଷ୍ୟଦ ବାଣୀ କହିବାକୁ ଲାଗିଲେ। BSB BSB: And when Paul laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied.
7 UDB ସେମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରୁ ସମୁଦାୟ ବାର ଜଣ ଥିଲେ ଯେଉଁମାନଙ୍କୁ ପାଉଲ ବାପ୍ତିସ୍ମ ଦେଲେ ଓ ପରେ ସେମାନେ ପବିତ୍ର ଆତ୍ମା ଗ୍ରହଣ କଲେ। BSB BSB: There were about twelve men in all.
8 UDB ତିନିମାସ ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ପାଉଲ ଏଫିସୀର ସମାଜଗୃହରେ ପ୍ରତି ବିଶ୍ରାମବାର ଦିନ ପ୍ରବେଶ କରି ଶିକ୍ଷା ଦେଇ ସାହାସର ସହିତ ଯିହୁଦୀମାନଙ୍କ ସହିତ ଯୀଶୁଙ୍କ ରାଜ୍ୟ ବିଷୟରେ କହିଲେ। ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ପରମେଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କ ରାଜ୍ୟ ବିଷୟରେ କହି ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ଗ୍ରହଣ କରିବା ପାଇଁ ରାଜି କରାଇଲେ I BSB BSB: Then Paul went into the synagogue and spoke boldly there for three months, arguing persuasively about the kingdom of God.
9 UDB ମାତ୍ର ସେମାନଙ୍କ ଭିତରୁ କେତେକ ବିଶ୍ୱାସ କଲେ ନାହିଁ କି ଶୁଣିବା ପାଇଁ ଇଚ୍ଛା କଲେ ନାହିଁ I ପାଉଲଙ୍କ ଶିକ୍ଷାକୁ ନେଇ ବହୁତ ଖରାପ କଥା କହିବାକୁ ଲାଗିଲେ। ତେଣୁ ପାଉଲ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ଛାଡ଼ି କେବଳ ଖ୍ରୀଷ୍ଟ ବିଶ୍ୱାସୀମାନଙ୍କୁ ସାଙ୍ଗରେ ରଖି ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ପ୍ରତିଦିନ ତୁରାନ୍ନର ସଭାଗୃହରେ ଏକତ୍ର କରୁଥିଲେ I BSB BSB: But when some of them stubbornly refused to believe and publicly maligned the Way, Paul took his disciples and left the synagogue to conduct daily discussions in the lecture hall of Tyrannus.
10 UDB ଏହିପରି ଦୁଇ ବର୍ଷ ପାଉଲ ଶିକ୍ଷା ଦେଲେ I ଏଥିପାଇଁ ଏସିଆର ସମସ୍ତ ବାସିନ୍ଦାମାନେ ଅର୍ଥାତ୍ ଉଭୟ ଯିହୁଦୀୟ ଓ ଗ୍ରୀକ୍ (ଅଣଯିହୁଦୀ) ପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ କଥା ଶୁଣିବାକୁ ପାଇଲେ। BSB BSB: This continued for two years, so that everyone who lived in the province of Asia, Jews and Greeks alike, heard the word of the Lord.
11 UDB ପରମେଶ୍ୱର ପାଉଲଙ୍କ ମାଧ୍ୟମରେ ଅତି ଅସାଧାରଣ କାର୍ଯ୍ୟମାନ କଲେ। BSB BSB: God did extraordinary miracles through the hands of Paul,
12 UDB ତେଣୁ ପାଉଲ ସ୍ପର୍ଶ କରୁଥିବା ରୁମାଲ ଓ ଗାମୁଛା ନେଇ ରୋଗୀମାନଙ୍କ ଉପରେ ପକାଇ ଦେଉଥିଲେ ଓ ଏହିଭଳି ସେମାନେ ରୋଗରୁ ସୁସ୍ଥ ହୋଇଯାଉଥିଲେ। ସେମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରୁ ଭୂତାତ୍ମା ମଧ୍ୟ ଚ଼ାଲିଯାଉଥିଲା। BSB BSB: so that even handkerchiefs and aprons that had touched him were taken to the sick, and the diseases and evil spirits left them.
13 UDB ଭୂତାତ୍ମାକୁ ଦୂର କରିବାପାଇଁ ଏଣେତେଣେ ବୁଲୁଥିବା କେତେକ ଯିହୁଦୀୟମାନେ ମଧ୍ୟ ଭୂତାତ୍ମାକୁ ଛଡ଼ାଇବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ପ୍ରଭୁ ଯୀଶୁଙ୍କ ନାମକୁ ବ୍ୟବହାର କରିବାପାଇଁ ଚେ଼ଷ୍ଟା କଲେ। ସେମାନେ କହିଲେ," ଯେଉଁ ଯୀଶୁଙ୍କୁ ପାଉଲ ପ୍ରଚ଼ାର କରୁଛନ୍ତି ମୁଁ ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ତାହାଙ୍କ ନାମରେ ଆଦେଶ ଦେଉଛି।" BSB BSB: Now there were some itinerant Jewish exorcists who tried to invoke the name of the Lord Jesus over those with evil spirits. They would say, “I command you by Jesus, whom Paul proclaims.”
14 UDB ସ୍କେବାଙ୍କର ସାତ ଜଣ ପୁତ୍ର ଏହିପରି କରୁଥିଲେ। ସ୍କେବା ଜଣେ ଯିହୁଦୀୟ ମୁଖ୍ୟ ଯାଜକ ଥିଲେ। BSB BSB: Seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, were doing this.
15 UDB କିନ୍ତୁ ଦିନେ ସେପରି କରୁଥିବା ସମୟରେ ଜଣେ ଭୂତାତ୍ମା ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ କହିଲା, "ମୁଁ ଯୀଶୁଙ୍କୁ ଚିହ୍ନେ ଓ ପାଉଲଙ୍କୁ ମଧ୍ୟ ଜାଣେ। କିନ୍ତୁ ମୋତେ କିଛି କରିବାର ତୁମର କୌଣସି ଶକ୍ତି ନାହିଁ ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ କିଏ?" BSB BSB: But one day the evil spirit responded, “Jesus I know, and I know about Paul, but who are you?”
16 UDB ଏହା କହି ସେହି ଭୂତାତ୍ମା ଥିବା ଲୋକଟି ସ୍କେବାଙ୍କର ପିଲାମାନଙ୍କ ଉପରେ ଡ଼େଇଁ ପଡ଼ିଲା। ସେ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ମାରି ପରାସ୍ତ କଲା। ସେମାନେ ସମସ୍ତଙ୍କ ବସ୍ତ୍ର ଚିରିଦେଲେ ଓ ଆକ୍ରମଣ କଲେ I ସେମାନେ ସମସ୍ତେ ଭୟଭୀତ ହୋଇ ଘର ଛାଡ଼ି ପଳାଇଲେ I BSB BSB: Then the man with the evil spirit jumped on them and overpowered them all. The attack was so violent that they ran out of the house naked and wounded.
17 UDB ଏକଥା ଏଫିସ ନଗରର ସମସ୍ତ ଯିହୁଦୀୟ ଓ ଗ୍ରୀକ୍ (ଅଣ ଯିହୁଦୀ) ମାନେ ଜାଣିପାରିଲେ। ସେମାନେ ଭୂତାତ୍ମା ଥିବା ଲୋକଟିର ଶକ୍ତି ଦେଖି ଭୟଭୀତ ହେଲେ I ସେମାନେ ପ୍ରଭୁ ଯୀଶୁଙ୍କର ନାମକୁ ଅଧିକ ଗୌରବ ଦେଲେ। BSB BSB: This became known to all the Jews and Greeks living in Ephesus, and fear came over all of them. So the name of the Lord Jesus was held in high honor.
19 UDB ଯେଉଁ ଲୋକମାନେ ଯାଦୁକର୍ମ କରୁଥିଲେ, ସେମାନେ ସେମାନଙ୍କର ସବୁ ବହିଗୁଡ଼ିକ ଏକାଠି କରି ଆଣି ସମସ୍ତଙ୍କ ସମ୍ମୁଖରେ ପୋଡ଼ି ପକାଇଲେ। ସେମାନେ ଏହି ଗୁଡ଼ିକର ଦାମ ହିସାବ କରି ଦେଖିଲେ ଯେ, ଏହା ପ୍ରାୟ ପଚ଼ାଶ ହଜାର ରୌପ୍ୟମୁଦ୍ରା ମୂଲ୍ୟର ଥିଲା। BSB BSB: And a number of those who had practiced magic arts brought their books and burned them in front of everyone. When the value of the books was calculated, the total came to fifty thousand drachmas.
20 UDB ଏହିପରି ଭାବରେ ପ୍ରଭୁ ଯୀଶୁଙ୍କର କଥା ଅଧିକ ପ୍ରଭାବଶାଳୀ ହୋଇ ଚ଼ାରିଆଡ଼େ ବ୍ୟାପିବାକୁ ଲାଗିଲା ଏବଂ ଅଧିକରୁ ଅଧିକ ଲୋକ ପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କଠାରେ ବିଶ୍ୱାସ କଲେ। BSB BSB: So the word of the Lord powerfully continued to spread and prevail.
21 UDB ପାଉଲ ଏଫିସରେ କାମ ସମାପ୍ତ ହେଲା ପରେ, ଆତ୍ମାଙ୍କ ଚାଳନା ଦ୍ୱାରା ଯିରୁଶାଲମକୁ ଯିବା ପାଇଁ ନିଷ୍ପତ୍ତି ନେଲେ I କିନ୍ତୁ ପ୍ରଥମେ ସେ ମାକିଦନିଆ ଓ ଆଖାୟାର ବିଶ୍ୱାସୀମାନଙ୍କୁ ସାକ୍ଷାତ କରିବା ପାଇଁ ଚାହିଁଲେ। ପାଉଲ କହିଲେ ଯେ, "ଯିରୁଶାଲମ ଗଲାପରେ ମୁଁ ରୋମକୁ ଯିବି।" BSB BSB: After these things had happened, Paul resolved in the Spirit to go to Jerusalem, passing through Macedonia and Achaia. “After I have been there,” he said, “I must see Rome as well.”
22 UDB ତେଣୁ ସେ ତାହାଙ୍କର ଦୁଇଜଣ ସାହାଯ୍ୟକାରୀ ଅର୍ଥାତ୍ ତୀମଥି ଓ ଏରାଷ୍ଟଙ୍କୁ ମାକିଦନିଆକୁ ପଠାଇଲେ। କିନ୍ତୁ ସେ ନିଜେ ଆଉ କିଛି ଅଧିକ ସମୟ ଏସିଆର ଏଫିସୀରେ କଟାଇଲେ। BSB BSB: He sent two of his helpers, Timothy and Erastus, to Macedonia, while he stayed for a time in the province of Asia.
23 UDB ସେ ସମୟରେ ଏଫିସୀର ଲୋକମାନେ ଯୀଶୁଙ୍କ ଓ ତାଙ୍କ ବିଷୟରେ ଶିକ୍ଷା ହେତୁ ଗୋଟିଏ ବଡ଼ ଧରଣର ଆନ୍ଦୋଳନ କଲେ। BSB BSB: About that time there arose a great disturbance about the Way.
25 UDB ଦୀମୀତ୍ରିୟ ମୂର୍ତ୍ତୀ ତିଆରି କର୍ମୀମାନଙ୍କୁ ଏକାଠି କରି କହିଲା," ହେ ଲୋକମାନେ, ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଜାଣିଛ ଯେ, ଆମ୍ଭେ ଏ କାମରୁ ବହୁତ ଲାଭ କରୁଛୁ। BSB BSB: Demetrius assembled the craftsmen, along with the workmen in related trades. “Men,” he said, “you know that this business is our source of prosperity.
26 UDB ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଜାଣିଛ ଯେ, ଏହି ପାଉଲ କେବଳ ଏଫିସ ନଗରରେ ନୁହେଁ, ପୁରା ଏସିଆରେ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କୁ ମୂର୍ତ୍ତୀ ନ କିଣିବା ପାଇଁ ମତେଇ ପ୍ରଭାବିତ କରୁଛି। ସେ କହୁଛି ଯେ, ମନୁଷ୍ୟର ହାତ ତିଆରି ଦେବତାମାନେ ପ୍ରକୃତ ଦେବତା ନୁହନ୍ତି। BSB BSB: And you can see and hear that not only in Ephesus, but in nearly the whole province of Asia, this Paul has persuaded a great number of people to turn away. He says that man-made gods are no gods at all.
27 UDB ଯଦି ଲୋକମାନେ ଏହା ଶୁଣନ୍ତି ତେବେ ଆମ ବ୍ୟବସାୟ ବନ୍ଦ ହୋଇଯିବ ଏବଂ ଲୋକମାନେ ମହାଦେବୀ ଆର୍ତ୍ତେମୀର ମନ୍ଦିରକୁ ଆଉ ଯିବେ ନାହିଁ। ସମଗ୍ର ଏସିଆ ଓ ପୃଥିବୀର ଲୋକମାନେ ଯେଉଁ ଦେବୀକୁ ମହାନ ଭାବି ପୂଜା କରିବେ ନାହିଁ I ତଥାପି ସମଗ୍ର ଏସିଆ ଓ ପୃଥିବୀର ଲୋକମାନେ ଦେବୀକୁ ପୂଜା କରନ୍ତି I BSB BSB: There is danger not only that our business will fall into disrepute, but also that the temple of the great goddess Artemis will be discredited and her majesty deposed—she who is worshiped by all the province of Asia and the whole world.”
28 UDB ଲୋକମାନେ ଦୀମୀତ୍ରିୟଙ୍କ କଥା ଶୁଣି ପାଉଲଙ୍କ ଉପରେ ଭୀଷଣ ରାଗିଗଲେ ଓ ଚ଼ିତ୍କାର କଲେ I କିଛି ଲୋକଙ୍କର ଆର୍ତ୍ତେମୀ ମହାଦେବୀ ମହାନ୍ ଅଟନ୍ତି।" BSB BSB: When the men heard this, they were enraged and began shouting, “Great is Artemis of the Ephesians!”
30 UDB ପାଉଲ ରଣଭୂମି ଭିତରକୁ ଯିବାପାଇଁ ଇଚ୍ଛା କଲେ କିନ୍ତୁ ବିଶ୍ୱାସୀମାନେ ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ଯିବାକୁ ଦେଲେ ନାହିଁ। BSB BSB: Paul wanted to go before the assembly, but the disciples would not allow him.
31 UDB ସେହି ସହରର କେତେକ ପାଉଲଙ୍କର ନେତା ବନ୍ଧୁ ଘଟଣା ସବୁ ଶୁଣିଲେ। ସେମାନେ ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ରଣଭୂମି ପାଖକୁ ନ ଯିବା ପାଇଁ ଅନୁରୋଧ କରି ଖବର ପଠାଇଲେ। BSB BSB: Even some of Paul’s friends who were officials of the province of Asia sent word to him, begging him not to venture into the theatre.
32 UDB ଲୋକଦଳ ରଣଭୂମିରେ ପାଟି କଲେ। କିଛି ଲୋକ ଗୋଟିଏ କାରଣ ପାଇଁ ପାଟିତୁଣ୍ଡ କଲେ ତ ଅନ୍ୟମାନେ ଅନ୍ୟ କାରଣ ପାଇଁ ପାଟିତୁଣ୍ଡ କଲେ I କିନ୍ତୁ ଅଧିକାଂଶ ଲୋକମାନେ ସେମାନଙ୍କର ଏକାଠି ହେବାର କାରଣ ଜାଣି ନ ଥିଲେ। BSB BSB: Meanwhile the assembly was in turmoil. Some were shouting one thing and some another, and most of them did not even know why they were there.
33 UDB ଯିହୁଦୀୟ ମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରୁ ଜଣେ ଆଲେକ୍ଜାଣ୍ଡର ନାମରେ ଥିଲେ I କିଛି ଯିହୁଦୀ ତାଙ୍କୁ ଆଗକୁ ପଠାଇଥିଲେ ଯେପରି ସେ କିଛି କହିବେ। ଆଲେକ୍ଜାଣ୍ଡର ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କ ଆଗରେ ହାତ ହଲେଇ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ପାଟି ନ କରିବା ପାଇଁ କହିଲେ I ସେ କହିବା ଚାହୁଁ ଥିଲେ କି ଯିହୁଦୀମାନେ ଏହି ଗୋଣ୍ଡଗୋଳ ବା ପାଟିତୁଣ୍ଡ କରି ନାହାନ୍ତି। BSB BSB: The Jews in the crowd pushed Alexander forward to explain himself, and he motioned for silence so he could make his defense to the people.
34 UDB କିନ୍ତୁ ଅନେକ ଅଣ-ଯିହୁଦୀ ଜାଣି ଥିଲେ ଯେ ଆଲେକ୍ଜାଣ୍ଡର ଜଣେ ଯିହୁଦୀ ଅଟନ୍ତି ଓ ଜାଣିଥିଲେ ଯେ ଯିହୁଦୀମାନେ ଆର୍ତ୍ତେମୀ ମହାଦେବୀଙ୍କୁ ମାନନ୍ତି ନାହିଁ I ତେଣୁ ଅଣ-ଯିହୁଦୀ ଦୁଇ ଘଣ୍ଟା ପାଇଁ ପାଟି କରି କହିଲେ, "ଏଫିସ ନଗରର ଆର୍ତ୍ତେମୀ ମହାଦେବୀ ମହାନ୍ ଅଟନ୍ତି"I BSB BSB: But when they realized that he was a Jew, they all shouted in unison for about two hours: “Great is Artemis of the Ephesians!”
36 UDB ଏ କଥା ସମସ୍ତେ ଜାଣନ୍ତି ଓ କେହି ଅସତ୍ୟ ବୋଲି କହିପାରିବେ ନାହିଁ। ତେଣୁ ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଶାନ୍ତ ରହିବା ଉଚ଼ିତ। ପ୍ରଥମେ କିଛି ନ ଭାବି ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ କିଛି କରିବା ଅନୁଚ଼ିତ।” BSB BSB: Since these things are undeniable, you ought to be calm and not do anything rash.
37 UDB ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଏହି ଦୁଇ ଜଣକୁ ଏଠାକୁ ଆଣିବା ଉଚିତ ନ ଥିଲା, କାରଣ ସେମାନେ କିଛି ଭୁଲ କରି ନାହାନ୍ତି I ସେମାନେ କୌଣସି ବିଷୟ ମନ୍ଦିରରୁ ଲୁଟ କରି ନାହାନ୍ତି ବା ଆମ୍ଭ ଦେବୀଙ୍କର ଅପମାନ କରି ନାହାନ୍ତି। BSB BSB: For you have brought these men here, though they have neither robbed our temple nor blasphemed our goddess.
