1 UDB ପାଉଲ ଏକ ଲୟରେ ମହାସଭାକୁ ଚ଼ାହିଁ କହିଲେ," ହେ ମୋର ଭାଇମାନେ! ମୁଁ ଆଜି ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ଉତ୍ତମ ବିବେକ ଅନୁସାରେ କର୍ମ କରି ପରମେଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କ ସମ୍ମୁଖରେ ଜୀବନ ଅତିବାହିତ କରିଛି।" BSB BSB: Paul looked directly at the Sanhedrin and said, “Brothers, I have conducted myself before God in all good conscience to this day.”
2 UDB ମହାଯାଜକ ହନାନୀୟ ଏହା ଶୁଣି ତାହାଙ୍କ ପାଖରେ ଠିଆ ହୋଇଥିବା ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କୁ ତାହାଙ୍କ ମୁହଁରେ ଚ଼ାପୁଡ଼ା ମାରିବା ପାଇଁ ଆଦେଶ ଦେଲେ। BSB BSB: At this, the high priest Ananias ordered those standing near Paul to strike him on the mouth.
3 UDB ପାଉଲ ହନାନୀୟଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, "ପରମେଶ୍ୱର ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ମଧ୍ୟ ଆଘାତ କରିବେ, ହେ କପଟୀମାନେ! ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ବସି ମୋଶାଙ୍କ ବ୍ୟବସ୍ଥା ବ୍ୟବହାର କରି ମୋର ବିଚାର କରୁଅଛ I କିନ୍ତୁ ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ନିଜେ ଅବଜ୍ଞା କରୁଅଛ କାରଣ ବିନା ପ୍ରମାଣରେ ମୋତେ ଆଘାତ ଦେବାପାଇଁ ଆଦେଶ ଦେଉଛ। BSB BSB: Then Paul said to him, “God will strike you, you whitewashed wall! You sit here to judge me according to the law, yet you yourself violate the law by commanding that I be struck.”
4 UDB ପାଉଲଙ୍କ ପାଖରେ ଠିଆ ହୋଇଥିବା ଲୋକମାନେ କହିଲେ, "ତୁମ୍ଭେ ପରମେଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କ ମହାଯାଜକଙ୍କୁ ସେପରି କଥା କହିପାରିବ ନାହିଁ।" BSB BSB: But those standing nearby said, “How dare you insult the high priest of God!”
5 UDB ପାଉଲ ଉତ୍ତର ଦେଲେ, "ଭାଇମାନେ, ମୁଁ ଦୁଃଖିତ ଯେ ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ମହାଯାଜକ ବୋଲି ଜାଣି ନ ଥିଲି। ମୁଁ ଜାଣି ଥିଲେ ଏପରି କରି ନ ଥାନ୍ତି I ଏହା ଧର୍ମଶାସ୍ତ୍ରରେ ଲେଖାଅଛି, 'ତୁମ୍ଭର ନିଜ ଲୋକଙ୍କ ନେତା ବିଷୟରେ ଖରାପ କଥା କହିବା ଉଚ଼ିତ ନୁହେଁ।'" BSB BSB: “Brothers,” Paul replied, “I was not aware that he was the high priest, for it is written: ‘Do not speak evil about the ruler of your people.’”
6 UDB ପାଉଲ ଜାଣିପାରିଲେ ଯେ ସଭାରେ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ଭିତରୁ କେତେକ ଲୋକ ସାଦ୍ଦୁକୀ ଓ ଅନ୍ୟ କେତେକ ଫାରୁଶୀ ମଧ୍ୟ ଥିଲେ। ତେଣୁ ସେ ଖୁବ୍ ଜୋର୍ରେ କହିଲେ," ହେ ଯିହୁଦୀୟ ଭାଇମାନେ, ମୁଁ ଜଣେ ଫାରୂଶୀ ଓ ମୋ’ ପିତା ମଧ୍ୟ ଫାରୂଶୀ ଥିଲେ। ମୁଁ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କର ମୃତ୍ୟୁରୁ ପୁନରୁତ୍ଥାନରେ ବିଶ୍ୱାସ କରେ। ଏହି ବିଶ୍ୱାସ ପାଇଁ ମୁଁ ଆଜି ଏଠାରେ ଏହି ବିଚ଼ାରର ସମ୍ମୁଖୀନ ହେଉଛି କାରଣ ପରମେଶ୍ୱର ଦିନେ ମୃତମାନଙ୍କୁ ପୁନରୁତ୍ଥାନ କରିବେ।" BSB BSB: Then Paul, knowing that some of them were Sadducees and the others Pharisees, called out in the Sanhedrin, “Brothers, I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee. It is because of my hope in the resurrection of the dead that I am on trial.”
7 UDB ପାଉଲ ଏପରି କହିବା ମାତ୍ରେ ଫାରୂଶୀ ଓ ସାଦ୍ଦୂକୀମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ବହୁତ ତର୍କ-ବିତର୍କ ହେଲା ଯେ ମୃତ ଲୋକମାନେ ପୁଣି ଉଠିବେ କି ନାହିଁ, ସଭାର ଦୁଇ ଦଳ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ତର୍କ-ବିତର୍କ ହେଲା। BSB BSB: As soon as he had said this, a dispute broke out between the Pharisees and Sadducees, and the assembly was divided.
8 UDB ସାଦ୍ଦୁକୀମାନେ ବିଶ୍ୱାସ କରନ୍ତି ଯେ ମୃତ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କର ପୁନରୁତ୍ଥାନ ହୁଏ ନାହିଁ କି କୌଣସି ସ୍ୱର୍ଗଦୂତ କିଅବା ଆତ୍ମା କେହି ନାହାନ୍ତି। କିନ୍ତୁ ଫାରୁଶୀମାନେ ଦୁଇଟି ବିଷୟକୁ ବିଶ୍ୱାସ କରନ୍ତି। BSB BSB: For the Sadducees say that there is neither a resurrection nor angels nor spirits, but the Pharisees acknowledge them all.
9 UDB ତେଣୁ ଯିହୁଦୀମାନେ ପରସ୍ପର ମଧ୍ୟରେ ଭୀଷଣ ପାଟିତୁଣ୍ଡ କଲେ। ଫାରୂଶୀ ଦଳର କେତେଜଣ ବ୍ୟବସ୍ଥା ଶିକ୍ଷକ ଠିଆ ହୋଇ ପାଉଲଙ୍କ ସପକ୍ଷରେ ଯୁକ୍ତି କଲେ। ସେମାନେ କହିଲେ, "ଆମ୍ଭେ ଏ ଲୋକର କିଛି ଦୋଷ ଦେଖିବାକୁ ପାଉନାହୁଁ। ହୁଏତ କୌଣସି ଆତ୍ମା କି ସ୍ୱର୍ଗଦୂତ ଏ ଲୋକ ସହିତ କଥାବାର୍ତ୍ତା ହୋଇଥିଲେ ଓ ସେ ଯେ ଯାହା କହୁଅଛି ତାହା ସତ୍ୟ ଅଟେ I BSB BSB: A great clamor arose, and some scribes from the party of the Pharisees got up and contended sharply, “We find nothing wrong with this man. What if a spirit or an angel has spoken to him?”
10 UDB ପରେ ଫାରୂଶୀ ଓ ସାଦ୍ଦୂକୀମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ଗଣ୍ଡଗୋଳ ବଢ଼ି ହିଂସ୍ରକ ହୋଇଉଠିଲା। ସେନାଧ୍ୟକ୍ଷ ଭାବିଲେ, ବୋଧେ ଲୋକ ପାଉଲଙ୍କୁ ଖଣ୍ଡ ଖଣ୍ଡ କରି ପକାଇବେ। ତେଣୁ ପାଉଲଙ୍କୁ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ନିକଟରୁ ନେଇଆସି ସୈନ୍ୟ ନିବାସ ଭିତରୁ ନେଇ ଯିବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ସୈନିକମାନଙ୍କୁ ଆଦେଶ ଦେଲେ। BSB BSB: The dispute grew so violent that the commander was afraid they would tear Paul to pieces. He ordered the soldiers to go down and remove him by force and bring him into the barracks.
11 UDB ସେହି ରାତିରେ ପ୍ରଭୁ ପାଉଲଙ୍କ ପାଖରେ ଠିଆ ହୋଇ କହିଲେ, "ସାହସୀ ହୁଅ। ତୁମ୍ଭେ ମୋ’ ବିଷୟରେ ଯିରୂଶାଲମରେ ଯେପରି ସାକ୍ଷ୍ୟ ଦେଇଛ ଠିକ୍ ସେହିପରି ରୋମରେ ମଧ୍ୟ ଦେବ।" BSB BSB: The following night the Lord stood near Paul and said, “Take courage! As you have testified about Me in Jerusalem, so also you must testify in Rome.”
12 UDB ତହିଁ ଆରଦିନ କେତେକ ଯିହୁଦୀ ଯେଉଁମାନେ ପାଉଲଙ୍କୁ ଘୃଣା କରୁଥିଲେ ସେମାନେ ପାଉଲଙ୍କୁ ହତ୍ୟା କରିବା ପାଇଁ ଗୋଟିଏ ଯୋଜନା କଲେ। ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ହତ୍ୟା ନ କରିବା ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ସେମାନେ ଅନ୍ନଜଳ ସ୍ପର୍ଶ କରିବେ ନାହିଁ ବୋଲି ଶପଥ କଲେ। ସେମାନେ ଯଦି ଏହି ଶପଥ ନ ରଖନ୍ତି ପ୍ରଭୁ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କୁ ଦଣ୍ଡ ଦିଅନ୍ତୁ I BSB BSB: When daylight came, the Jews formed a conspiracy and bound themselves with an oath not to eat or drink until they had killed Paul.
13 UDB ଚ଼ାଳିଶ ଜଣରୁ ଅଧିକ ଯିହୁଦୀ ପାଉଲଙ୍କୁ ହତ୍ୟା କରିବା ପାଇଁ ଏହି ଷଡ଼ଯନ୍ତ୍ର କଲେ। BSB BSB: More than forty of them were involved in this plot.
14 UDB ସେମାନେ ମୁଖ୍ୟ ଯାଜକ ଓ ପ୍ରାଚ଼ୀନମାନଙ୍କ ପାଖକୁ ଯାଇ କହିଲେ, "ପ୍ରଭୁ ଜାଣନ୍ତି, ଆମ୍ଭେ ପ୍ରତିଜ୍ଞା କରିଛୁ ଯେ, ପାଉଲଙ୍କୁ ବଧ ନ କରିବା ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ କେହି ଭୋଜନ ସ୍ପର୍ଶ କରିବୁ ନାହିଁ I BSB BSB: They went to the chief priests and elders and said, “We have bound ourselves with a solemn oath not to eat anything until we have killed Paul.
15 UDB ତେଣୁ ଆମେ ତୁମକୁ ଏକ ଅନୁରୋଧ କରୁଛୁ ଯେ ତୁମେ ଯାଇ ଯିହୁଦୀମାନଙ୍କ ସଭା ତରଫରୁ ସେନାଧ୍ୟକ୍ଷ ଓ ସମସ୍ତ ଯିହୁଦୀୟ ନେତାମାନଙ୍କୁ ପାଉଲଙ୍କୁ ଛାଡ଼ି ଦେବା ପାଇଁ କୁହ। ତୁମ୍ଭେ ସେନାଧ୍ୟକ୍ଷଙ୍କୁ କହିବ ଯେ ତୁମ୍ଭେ ପାଉଲଙ୍କୁ ବାହାରକୁ ଆଣିବା ପାଇଁ ଚ଼ାହଁ, କାରଣ ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ତୁମ୍ଭର ଅନେକ ପ୍ରଶ୍ନ ପଚ଼ାରିବାର ଅଛି। ଆମ୍ଭେ ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ଏଠାରେ ପହଞ୍ଚିବା ପୂର୍ବରୁ ବାଟରେ ହତ୍ୟା କରିବା ପାଇଁ ପ୍ରସ୍ତୁତ ଅଛୁ।" BSB BSB: Now then, you and the Sanhedrin petition the commander to bring him down to you on the pretext of examining his case more carefully. We are ready to kill him on the way.”
16 UDB ପାଉଲଙ୍କର ଭଣଜା ଏ ଷଡ଼ଯନ୍ତ୍ର ବିଷୟରେ ଶୁଣିଲେ। ସେ ସେନାମାନଙ୍କ ସୈନ୍ୟ ନିବାସକୁ ଯାଇ ପାଉଲଙ୍କୁ ଏ ବିଷୟରେ କହିଲେ। BSB BSB: But when the son of Paul’s sister heard about the plot, he went into the barracks and told Paul.
17 UDB ତା'ପରେ ପାଉଲ ଜଣେ ସେନା ଅଧିକାରୀଙ୍କୁ ଡ଼ାକି କହିଲେ, "ଏହି ଯୁବକକୁ ସେନାଧ୍ୟକ୍ଷଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ନେଇଯାଅ। ତା'ର ତାହାଙ୍କୁ କିଛି କହିବାର ଅଛି। BSB BSB: Then Paul called one of the centurions and said, “Take this young man to the commander; he has something to tell him.”
18 UDB ତେଣୁ ସେନା ଅଧିକାରୀ ତାହାକୁ ସେନାଧ୍ୟକ୍ଷଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ନେଇଗଲା ଓ କହିଲା, "ବନ୍ଦୀ ପାଉଲ ଏ ଯୁବକକୁ ଆପଣଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ପଠାଇଛନ୍ତି। ସେ ଆପଣଙ୍କୁ କିଛି କହିବାକୁ ଚ଼ାହେଁ। BSB BSB: So the centurion took him to the commander and said, “Paul the prisoner sent and asked me to bring this young man to you. He has something to tell you.”
19 UDB ସେନାଧ୍ୟକ୍ଷ ଯୁବକର ହାତ ଧରି ନିରୋଳା ସ୍ଥାନକୁ ନେଇ ପଚ଼ାରିଲେ, "ତୁମ୍ଭେ ମୋତେ କ’ଣ କହିବାକୁ ଚ଼ାହଁ? BSB BSB: The commander took the young man by the hand, drew him aside, and asked, “What do you need to tell me?”
20 UDB ସେ କହିଲା, "ଯିହୁଦୀମାନେ ପାଉଲଙ୍କୁ ଆହୁରି ଅଧିକ ପ୍ରଶ୍ନ ପଚ଼ାରିବାର ବାହାନାରେ ଆସନ୍ତା କାଲି ତାହାଙ୍କର ମହାସଭାକୁ ଆଣିବା ଉଦ୍ଦେଶ୍ୟରେ ଆପଣଙ୍କୁ କହିବାକୁ ସ୍ଥିର କରିଛନ୍ତି। ମାତ୍ର ତାହା ସତ୍ୟ ନୁହେଁ I BSB BSB: He answered, “The Jews have agreed to ask you to bring Paul to the Sanhedrin tomorrow on the pretext of acquiring more information about him.
21 UDB କିନ୍ତୁ ଆପଣ ସେମାନଙ୍କ କଥାନୁସାରେ କିଛି କରନ୍ତୁ ନାହିଁ। ଚ଼ାଳିଶ ଜଣରୁ ଅଧିକ ଯିହୁଦୀୟ ଲୁଚ଼ିଛନ୍ତି ଏବଂ ପାଉଲଙ୍କୁ ହତ୍ୟା କରିବା ପାଇଁ ଅପେକ୍ଷା କରିଛନ୍ତି। ସେମାନେ ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ନ ମାରିବା ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ଅନ୍ନଜଳ ସ୍ପର୍ଶ କରିବେ ନାହିଁ ବୋଲି ପ୍ରତିଜ୍ଞା କରିଛନ୍ତି, ଏବେ ସେମାନେ ଆପଣଙ୍କ ସମ୍ମତିକୁ ଅପେକ୍ଷା କରି ପ୍ରସ୍ତୁତ ଅଛନ୍ତି।" BSB BSB: Do not let them persuade you, because more than forty men are waiting to ambush him. They have bound themselves with an oath not to eat or drink until they have killed him; they are ready now, awaiting your consent.”
22 UDB ସେନାଧ୍ୟକ୍ଷ ସେହି ଯୁବକଙ୍କୁ ଆଦେଶ ଦେଲେ ଯେ ସେ ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ଏକଥା କହିଛି ବୋଲି କାହାକୁ ଯେପରି ନ କୁହେ ଓ ଏହା କହି ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ପଠାଇ ଦେଲେ। BSB BSB: So the commander dismissed the young man and instructed him, “Do not tell anyone that you have reported this to me.”
23 UDB ସେନାଧ୍ୟକ୍ଷ ଦୁଇ ଜଣ ସେନାପତିଙ୍କୁ ଡ଼ାକି କହିଲେ, "ଆଜି ରାତି ନ'ଟା ବେଳେ କାଇସରୀଆକୁ ଯିବା ପାଇଁ 200 ପଦାତିକ ସୈନ୍ୟ, 70 ଜଣ ଅଶ୍ୱାରୋହୀ, 200 ବର୍ଚ୍ଛାଧାରୀଙ୍କୁ ପ୍ରସ୍ତୁତ କର। BSB BSB: Then he called two of his centurions and said, “Prepare two hundred soldiers, seventy horsemen, and two hundred spearmen to go to Caesarea in the third hour of the night.
24 UDB ନିରାପଦରେ ଯିବା ପାଇଁ କେତେକ ଘୋଡ଼ାକୁ ପାଉଲଙ୍କ ପାଇଁ ପ୍ରସ୍ତୁତ କର ଓ ରାଜ୍ୟପାଳ ଫେଲୀକ୍ସଙ୍କ ପାଖରେ ଉପସ୍ଥିତ କରାଅ। BSB BSB: Provide mounts for Paul to take him safely to Governor Felix.”
25 UDB ସେନାଧ୍ୟକ୍ଷ ରାଜ୍ୟପାଳଙ୍କୁ ଗୋଟିଏ ପତ୍ର ଲେଖିଲେ I ଏହି ପତ୍ରର ମର୍ମ ହେଲା; BSB BSB: And he wrote the following letter:
26 UDB "ମହାମହିମ ରାଜ୍ୟପାଳ ଫେଲୀକ୍ସଙ୍କୁ କ୍ଲାଉଦିଅ ଲୂସିୟାର ନମସ୍କାର। BSB BSB: Claudius Lysias, To His Excellency, Governor Felix: Greetings.
27 UDB ଯୀହୂଦୀମାନେ ଏହି ଲୋକକୁ ଧରି ନେଇ ହତ୍ୟା କରିବା ପାଇଁ ଚେ଼ଷ୍ଟା କରୁଥିଲେ। ମୁଁ ଘଟଣା ସ୍ଥଳରେ ସୈନ୍ୟମାନଙ୍କ ସହିତ ପହଞ୍ଚିଲି ଓ ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ରକ୍ଷା କଲି। ମୁଁ ଜାଣିବାକୁ ପାଇଲି ସେ ଜଣେ ରୋମୀୟ ନାଗରିକ। BSB BSB: This man was seized by the Jews, and they were about to kill him when I came with my troops to rescue him. For I had learned that he is a Roman citizen,
28 UDB ମୁଁ ଏହି ଲୋକକୁ ସେମାନଙ୍କର ମହାସଭାକୁ ନେଇ ତାହା ବିରୁଦ୍ଧରେ ଥିବା ଅଭିଯୋଗ କ'ଣ ତାହା ଜାଣିବାକୁ ଚ଼ାହୁଁଥିଲି। BSB BSB: and since I wanted to understand their charges against him, I brought him down to their Sanhedrin.
29 UDB ତା'ପରେ ପାଉଲକୁ ପ୍ରଶ୍ନ ପଚାରିବା ବେଳେ ଓ ଉତ୍ତର ଦେବା ବେଳେ ମୁଁ ଜାଣିବାକୁ ପାଇଲି ଯେ, ସେ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ବ୍ୟବସ୍ଥା ସମ୍ବନ୍ଧୀୟ ବିଷୟଗୁଡ଼ିକରେ ଅଭିଯୁକ୍ତ ହୋଇଛି। କିନ୍ତୁ ସେ କାରାଦଣ୍ଡ ବା ପ୍ରାଣଦଣ୍ଡ ପାଇବାର କୌଣସି ଦୋଷ କରି ନାହିଁ। BSB BSB: I found that the accusation involved questions about their own law, but there was no charge worthy of death or imprisonment.
30 UDB ହଠାତ୍ ମୁଁ ତାକୁ ହତ୍ୟା କରିବାକୁ ଷଡ଼ଯନ୍ତ୍ର କରାଯାଇଥିବାର ଖବର ପାଇଲି। ତେଣୁ ମୁଁ ତାକୁ ସଙ୍ଗେ ସଙ୍ଗେ ଆପଣଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ପଠାଇଲି। ମୁଁ ତା'ର ଅଭିଯୋଗକାରୀମାନଙ୍କୁ କହିଲି ଯେ, ସେମାନେ ଆପଣଙ୍କ ନିକଟରେ ଅଭିଯୋଗ କରନ୍ତୁ।" BSB BSB: When I was informed that there was a plot against the man, I sent him to you at once. I also instructed his accusers to present their case against him before you.
31 UDB ତେଣୁ ତାହାଙ୍କ ଆଦେଶ ଅନୁସାରେ, ସୈନିକମାନେ ପାଉଲଙ୍କୁ ଧରି ନେଲେ ଏବଂ ରାତ୍ରୀରେ ଆନ୍ତିପାତ୍ରି ନଗରକୁ ଆଣିଲେ। BSB BSB: So the soldiers followed their orders and brought Paul by night to Antipatris.
32 UDB ତହିଁ ଆରଦିନ ପାଉଲଙ୍କୁ କାଇସରୀଆରେ ପହଞ୍ଚାଇବାର ଦାୟିତ୍ୱ ଅଶ୍ୱରୋହୀମାନଙ୍କୁ ଦେଇ ପଦାତିକ ସୈନ୍ୟମାନେ ସୈନ୍ୟ ନିବାସକୁ ଫେରି ଆସିଲେ। BSB BSB: The next day they returned to the barracks and let the horsemen go on with him.
34 UDB ରାଜ୍ୟପାଳ ପତ୍ର ପଢ଼ି ପାଉଲଙ୍କୁ ପଚ଼ାରିଲେ ଯେ ସେ କେଉଁ ପ୍ରଦେଶର ଲୋକ। ସେ ଜାଣିବାକୁ ପାଇେଲ ଯେ ପାଉଲ କିଲିକିଆର ଲୋକ I BSB BSB: The governor read the letter and asked what province Paul was from. Learning that he was from Cilicia,
35 UDB ରାଜ୍ୟପାଳ କହିଲେ, "ତୁମ୍ଭର ଅଭିଯୋଗକାରୀମାନେ ଏଠାରେ ପହଞ୍ଚିବା ପରେ, ମୁଁ ତୁମ୍ଭ ବିଷୟରେ ସେମାନଙ୍କର ଅଭିଯୋଗ ଶୁଣିବି ଓ ବିଚାର କରିବି।" ସେ ପାଉଲଙ୍କୁ ହେରାଦଙ୍କର ରାଜ ପ୍ରାସାଦରେ ରଖିବା ପାଇଁ ଆଦେଶ ଦେଲେ। BSB BSB: he said, “I will hear your case when your accusers arrive.” Then he ordered that Paul be kept under guard in Herod’s Praetorium.
