4. 4UDBବହୁ ବର୍ଷ ପୂର୍ବରୁ ଯିଶାୟ ଭାବବାଦୀ ଏହି ବାକ୍ୟ ଶାସ୍ତ୍ରରେ ଲେଖନ୍ତି, "ପ୍ରାନ୍ତରରେ ଉଚ୍ଚ ଶବ୍ଦ କରୁ ଥିବା ଜଣକର ସ୍ୱର, ପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ପଥ ପ୍ରସ୍ତୁତ କର, ତାହାଙ୍କ ରାଜଦାଣ୍ଡ ସଳଖ କର IBSBBSB: as it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet: “A voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for Him.
5. 5UDBପ୍ରତ୍ୟେକ ଉପତ୍ୟକା ପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ କରାଯିବ, ପୁଣି ପ୍ରତ୍ୟକ ପର୍ବତ ଓ ଉପପର୍ବତ ସମତଳ କରାଯିବ, ବକ୍ର ପଥସବୁ ସଳଖ ହେବ, ଆଉ ଉଚ୍ଚ ନୀଚ ଭୂମି ସମତଳ ପଥରେ ପରିଣତ ହେବ IBSBBSB: Every valley shall be filled in, and every mountain and hill made low. The crooked ways shall be made straight, and the rough ways smooth.
6. 6UDBପୁଣି ପ୍ରତ୍ୟେକ ଲୋକ ଈଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କ ପରିତ୍ରାଣ ଦେଖିବେ I"BSBBSB: And all humanity will see God’s salvation.’”
7. 7UDBଅତଏବ ଯୋହନ ତାହାଙ୍କ ଦ୍ୱାରା ବାପ୍ତିଜିତ ହେବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ବାହାରି ଆସୁଥିବା ଲୋକସମୂହକୁ କହିଲେ, "ରେ କାଳସର୍ପର ବଂଶ! ଯିଏ ପାପ କରେ ତାହାକୁ ଦିନେ ଈଶ୍ୱର ଦଣ୍ଡ ଦେବେ ବୋଲି କିଏ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କୁ ଚେତନା ଦେଲା? ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ତାହାଙ୍କ କ୍ରୋଧରୁ ରକ୍ଷା ପାଇବ ଏହା ମନେ ମନେ ଭାବ ନାହିଁ!BSBBSB: Then John said to the crowds coming out to be baptized by him, “You brood of vipers, who warned you to flee from the coming wrath?
8. 8UDBଏଣୁ ମନପରିବର୍ତ୍ତନର ଉପଯୁକ୍ତ ଫଳ ଉତ୍ପନ୍ନ କର; ପୁଣି ଅବ୍ରାହାମ ତ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କର ପିତା, ମନେ ମନେ ସୁଦ୍ଧା ଏପରି କୁହ ନାହିଁ; କାରଣ ମୁଁ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କୁ କହୁଅଛି, ଈଶ୍ୱର ଏହି ପଥରଗୁଡ଼ାକରୁ ଅବ୍ରାହାମଙ୍କ ନିମନ୍ତେ ସନ୍ତାନ ଉତ୍ପନ୍ନ କରି ପାରନ୍ତି IBSBBSB: Produce fruit, then, in keeping with repentance. And do not begin to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham.
9. 9UDBଆଉ ଏବେ ସୁଦ୍ଧା ଗଛଗୁଡ଼ାକ ମୂଳରେ କୁହ୍ରାଡ଼ି ଲାଗିଅଛି; ଅତଏବ ଯେ କୌଣସି ଗଚ୍ଛ ଭଲ ଫଳ ନ ଫଳେ, ତାହା ହଣାଯାଇ ନିଆଁରେ ପକାଯିବ IBSBBSB: The axe lies ready at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.”
10. 10UDBଏଥିରେ ଲୋକସମୂହ ମଧ୍ୟରୁ କେତେକ ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ପଚାରିବାକୁ ଲାଗିଲେ, "ତାହାହେଲେ ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ କଅଣ କରିବା?"BSBBSB: The crowds asked him, “What then should we do?”
11. 11UDBସେ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ଉତ୍ତର ଦେଲେ, "ଯାହାର ଦୁଇଟି ଅଙ୍ଗରଖା ଅଛି, ସେ ଯାହାର ନାହିଁ, ତାହାକୁ ଗୋଟିଏ ଦେଉ; ପୁଣି ଯାହାର ଖାଦ୍ୟ ଅଛି, ସେ ଯାହାର ଖାଦ୍ୟ ନାହିଁ ତାହାକୁ ଦେଉ I"BSBBSB: John replied, “Whoever has two tunics should share with him who has none, and whoever has food should do the same.”

14. 14UDBକେତେକ ସୈନିକ ମଧ୍ୟ ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ପଚାରିବାକୁ ଲାଗିଲେ, "ଆଉ ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ, ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ କଅଣ କରିବା?" ସେ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, "ବଳରେ କି ଛଳରେ କାହାର ଧନ ହରଣ କର ନାହିଁ, ଓ କେହି ଭୁଲ୍ କରୁଅଛନ୍ତି ବୋଲି ମିଥ୍ୟା ଅଭିଯୋଗ କର ନାହିଁ! ପୁଣି ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ବେତନରେ ସନ୍ତୁଷ୍ଟ ହୋଇ ଥାଅ I"BSBBSB: Then some soldiers asked him, “And what should we do?” “Do not take money by force or false accusation,” he said. “Be content with your wages.”
15. 15UDBଲୋକେ ଅପେକ୍ଷାରେ ଥିବାରୁ ଓ ଯୋହନ କେଜାଣି ଖ୍ରୀଷ୍ଟ ହେବେ, ଏହା ତାହାଙ୍କ ସମ୍ବଦ୍ଧରେ ସମସ୍ତେ ଆପଣା ଆପଣା ମନରେ ତର୍କବିତର୍କ କରୁଥିଲେ IBSBBSB: The people were waiting expectantly and were all wondering in their hearts if John could be the Christ.
16. 16UDBକିନ୍ତୁ ଯୋହନ ସମସ୍ତଙ୍କୁ ଉତ୍ତର ଦେଲେ," ନା, ମୁଁ ନୁହେଁ I ଖ୍ରୀଷ୍ଟ ମୋଠାରୁ ଅଧିକ ଶକ୍ତିମାନ୍ I ସେ ମୋଠାରୁ ଅଧିକ ଶକ୍ତିମାନ୍, ତାହାଙ୍କର ପାଦୁକାର ବନ୍ଧନ ଫିଟାଇବାକୁ ମୁଁ ଯୋଗ୍ୟ ନୁହେଁ! ମୁଁ ସିନା ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କୁ ଜଳରେ ବାପ୍ତିସ୍ମ ଦେଉଅଛି, ମାତ୍ର ଯେତେବେଳେ ଖ୍ରୀଷ୍ଟ ଆସିବେ, ସେ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କୁ ପବିତ୍ର ଆତ୍ମା ଓ ଅଗ୍ନିରେ ବାପ୍ତିସ୍ମ ଦେବେ IBSBBSB: John answered all of them: “I baptize you with water, but One more powerful than I will come, the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.
17. 17UDBଆପଣା ଖଳା ଉତ୍ତମରୂପେ ପରିଷ୍କାର କରିବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ଓ ନିଜ ଅମାରରେ ଗହମ ସଂଗ୍ରହ କରି ରଖିବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ତାହାଙ୍କ ହାତରେ କୁଲା ଅଛି, କିନ୍ତୁ ଅଗାଡ଼ିଯାକ ସେ ଅନିର୍ବାଣ ଅଗ୍ନିରେ ପୋଡ଼ିପକାଇବେ IBSBBSB: His winnowing fork is in His hand to clear His threshing floor and to gather the wheat into His barn; but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.”
18. 18UDBଏହିପରି ଅନେକ ଉପଦେଶ ଦେଇ ପୁଣି ବିଭିନ୍ନ ପ୍ରକାର ଉତ୍ସାହଜନକ ବାକ୍ୟ କହି ଯୋହନ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କୁ ଈଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ମନପରିବର୍ତ୍ତନ କରି ଫେରିବା ନିମନ୍ତେ କହୁଥିଲେ, ପୁଣି ଲୋକଙ୍କ ନିକଟରେ ଈଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କଠାରୁ ପ୍ରାପ୍ତ ସୁସମ୍ବାଦ ପ୍ରଚାର କରୁଥିଲେ IBSBBSB: With these and many other exhortations, John proclaimed the good news to the people.
19. 19UDBପୁଣି ସେ ସାମନ୍ତ ରାଜା ହେରୋଦ ନିଜ ଜୀବିତ ଭାଇଙ୍କ ଭାର୍ଯ୍ୟା ହେରୋଦିଆଙ୍କ ସହ ବିବାହ କରିଥିବାରୁ ଏବଂ ଆପଣା କୃତ ସମସ୍ତ ଦୁଷ୍କର୍ମ ବିଷୟରେ ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ଅନୁଯୋଗ କରୁଥିଲେ IBSBBSB: But when he rebuked Herod the tetrarch regarding his brother’s wife Herodias and all the evils he had done,
