1 UDB ଭାଇ ଓ ଭଉଣୀଗଣ, ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ବ୍ୟବସ୍ଥା ଜାଣ। ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଜାଣ ଯେ ଯେତେବେଳେ ଜଣେ ଲୋକ ଜୀବିତ, ବ୍ୟବସ୍ଥା ତାହାକୁ ନିୟନ୍ତ୍ରିତ କଲେ। BSB BSB: Do you not know, brothers (for I am speaking to those who know the law), that the law has authority over a man only as long as he lives?
2 UDB ମୁଁ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କୁ ଗୋଟିଏ ଉଦାହରଣ ଦେଉଛି। ଜଣେ ବିବାହିତା ସ୍ତ୍ରୀଲୋକ ତାହାର ସ୍ୱାମୀ ଜୀବିତ ଥିବା ସମୟ ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ତା'ସହିତ ଆବଦ୍ଧ ହୋଇ ରହିଥାଏ। କିନ୍ତୁ ଯେତେବେଳେ ତାହାର ସ୍ୱାମୀ ମରିଯାଏ ସେ ବିବାହର ନିୟମରୁ ମୁକ୍ତ ହୋଇଯାଏ। BSB BSB: For instance, a married woman is bound by law to her husband as long as he lives. But if her husband dies, she is released from the law of marriage.
3 UDB କିନ୍ତୁ ଯେତେବେଳେ ଜଣେ ସ୍ତ୍ରୀ’ଲୋକ ତାହାର ସ୍ୱାମୀ ଜୀବିତ ଥିବା ଅବସ୍ଥାରେ, ଆଉ ଜଣେ ପୁରୁଷକୁ ଗ୍ରହଣ କରେ,ବ୍ୟବସ୍ଥାନୁଯାୟୀ, ସେ ବ୍ୟଭିଚାର ଦୋଷରେ ଦୋଷୀ। କିନ୍ତୁ ଯଦି ସେ ସ୍ତ୍ରୀଲୋକର ସ୍ୱାମୀ ମରିଯାଏ, ତାହା ହେଲେ ସେ ସ୍ତ୍ରୀ’ଲୋକଟି ବିବାହର ବନ୍ଧନ ବ୍ୟବସ୍ଥାରୁ ମୁକ୍ତ ହୋଇ ଯାଏ। ଅତଏବ, ଯଦି ସେହି ସ୍ତ୍ରୀ’ଲୋକ ସ୍ୱାମୀର ମୃତ୍ୟୁ ପରେ ଆଉ ଜଣକୁ ବିବାହ କରେ, ସେ ବ୍ୟଭିଚ଼ାର ଦୋଷରେ ଆଉ ଦୋଷୀ ହୁଏ ନାହିଁ। BSB BSB: So then, if she is joined to another man while her husband is still alive, she is called an adulteress; but if her husband dies, she is free from that law and is not an adulteress if she marries another man.
4 UDB ଠିକ୍ ସେହି ଭଳି, ମୋ’ ଭାଇ ଓ ଭଉଣୀଗଣ, ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ପୁରୁଣା ବ୍ୟକ୍ତିତ୍ୱ ମରିଯାଇଛି ଓ ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଖ୍ରୀଷ୍ଟଙ୍କ ଶରୀର ମାଧ୍ୟମରେ ବ୍ୟବସ୍ଥାରୁ ମୁକ୍ତ ହୋଇଯାଇଛ। ଏବେ ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଅନ୍ୟ ଜଣକର ଅଟ। ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ମୃତ୍ୟୁରୁ ବଞ୍ଚି ଉଠିଥିବା ଖ୍ରୀଷ୍ଟଙ୍କର ଅଟ। ଆମ୍ଭେ ଯୀଶୁ ଖ୍ରୀଷ୍ଟଙ୍କର ଅଟୁ, ସେଥିପାଇଁ ଆମ୍ଭେ ପରମେଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କ ସେବାରେ ନିୟୋଜିତ ହୋଇ ପାରିବା। BSB BSB: Therefore, my brothers, you also died to the law through the body of Christ, that you might belong to another, to Him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit to God.
5 UDB ଅତୀତରେ, ଆମ୍ଭେ ଆମ୍ଭର ପାପପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ ଶରୀର ଦ୍ୱାରା ନିୟନ୍ତ୍ରିତ ହେଉଥିଲୁ। ଆମ୍ଭ ଦ୍ୱାରା ବ୍ୟବସ୍ଥା ପାପପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ କାମ କରାଉଥିଲା ଓ ଏହି ପାପପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ କାମ ସବୁ ଆମ୍ଭର ଶରୀରକୁ ନିୟନ୍ତ୍ରିତ କରୁଥିଲା। ଅତଏବ ଏହି କର୍ମ ଆମ୍ଭର ଆଧ୍ୟାତ୍ମିକ ମୃତ୍ୟୁ ଘଟାଉ ଥିଲା। BSB BSB: For when we lived according to the flesh, the sinful passions aroused by the law were at work in our bodies, bearing fruit for death.
6 UDB ଅତୀତର ବ୍ୟବସ୍ଥା ଆମ୍ଭକୁ ବନ୍ଦୀ ଭଳି ବାନ୍ଧି ରଖି ଥିଲା। କିନ୍ତୁ ଆମ୍ଭର ପୁରୁଣା ବ୍ୟକ୍ତିତ୍ୱ ଏବେ ମରିଯାଇଛି ଓ ଆମ୍ଭେ ବ୍ୟବସ୍ଥାରୁ ମୁକ୍ତ ହୋଇସାରିଛୁ। ଅତଏବ ଆମ୍ଭେ ପ୍ରାଚ଼ୀନ ପଦ୍ଧତି ଲିଖିତ ବ୍ୟବସ୍ଥା ଅନୁସାରେ ପରମେଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କ ସେବା କରୁନାହୁଁ। ଆମ୍ଭେ ପରମେଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କ ନୂତନ ପଦ୍ଧତି ଆତ୍ମାରେ ସେବା କରୁଅଛୁ। BSB BSB: But now, having died to what bound us, we have been released from the law, so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code.
7 UDB ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଭାବି ପାର ଯେ, ମୁଁ କହୁଛି ପାପ ଓ ବ୍ୟବସ୍ଥା ହେଉଛି ଏକା କଥା। ଏହା ସତ୍ୟ ନୁହେଁ। କିନ୍ତୁ ବ୍ୟବସ୍ଥା ହେଉଛି ଏକମାତ୍ର ଉପାୟ ଯାହା ଦ୍ୱାରା ମୁଁ ପାପର ଅର୍ଥ ଜାଣି ପାରିଲି। ମୁଁ କେବେ ହେଲେ ଜାଣି ପାରି ନ ଥାନ୍ତି, "ଲୋଭ କରିବା" ଅର୍ଥ କ’ଣ। କିନ୍ତୁ ବ୍ୟବସ୍ଥା କହିଲା, "ଅନ୍ୟମାନଙ୍କ ବସ୍ତୁ ପାଇବା ପାଇଁ କେବେ ହେଲେ ଲୋଭ କର ନାହିଁ।" BSB BSB: What then shall we say? Is the law sin? Certainly not! Indeed, I would not have been mindful of sin if not for the law. For I would not have been aware of coveting if the law had not said, “Do not covet.”
8 UDB ଏହି ଆଦେଶ ଅନୁସାରେ ମୋ’ ଭିତରେ ସମସ୍ତ ପ୍ରକାରର ଭୁଲ୍ ବସ୍ତୁ ପ୍ରତି ପାପ ଇଚ୍ଛା ଜାଗ୍ରତ କରାଇଲା। ସେଥିପାଇଁ ଉକ୍ତ ଆଦେଶ ହେତୁ ପାପ ମୋ’ ପାଖକୁ ଆସିଲା। କିନ୍ତୁ ବ୍ୟବସ୍ଥା ବିନା ପାପର କୌଣସି ଶକ୍ତି ନାହିଁ। BSB BSB: But sin, seizing its opportunity through the commandment, produced in me every kind of covetous desire. For apart from the law, sin is dead.
9 UDB ବ୍ୟବସ୍ଥା ଜାଣିବା ପୂର୍ବରୁ, ବ୍ୟବସ୍ଥା ବିନା ମୁଁ ଜୀବିତ ଥିଲି। କିନ୍ତୁ ଯେତେବେଳେ ବ୍ୟବସ୍ଥାର ଆଦେଶ ମୋ’ ପାଖକୁ ଆସିଲା, ସେତେବେଳେ ପାପ ଜୀବିତ ହେଲା ଓ ପାପ ହେତୁ ଆତ୍ମିକ ଭାବରେ ମୁଁ ମୃତ୍ୟୁ ବରଣ କଲି। BSB BSB: Once I was alive apart from the law; but when the commandment came, sin sprang to life and I died.
10 UDB ବ୍ୟବସ୍ଥାର ଆଜ୍ଞା ଥିଲା ଜୀବନ ଦାନ କିନ୍ତୁ ମୋ’ ପାଇଁ ମୃତ୍ୟୁ ଆଜ୍ଞା ଆଣିଲା। BSB BSB: So I discovered that the very commandment that was meant to bring life actually brought death.
11 UDB ଏହି ଆଜ୍ଞାକୁ ବ୍ୟବହାର କରି ପାପ ମୋତେ ମୂର୍ଖ ପ୍ରମାଣିତ କରିବା ପାଇଁ ସୁଯୋଗ ପାଇଲା। ମୋତେ ଆତ୍ମିକ ଭାବରେ ମୃତ କରାଇବାରେ ପାପ ଏହି ଆଜ୍ଞାକୁ ବ୍ୟବହାର କଲା। BSB BSB: For sin, seizing its opportunity through the commandment, deceived me and through the commandment put me to death.
13 UDB ଏହାର କ’ଣ ଏହି ଅର୍ଥ ଯେ ଯାହା ଭଲ, ତାହା ହିଁ ମୋ’ ପାଇଁ ମୃତ୍ୟୁ ଆଣିଲା? କିନ୍ତୁ ଯାହା ଭଲ ପାପ ତାହାକୁ ହିଁ ବ୍ୟବହାର କରି ମୋ’ ପାଇଁ ମୃତ୍ୟୁ ଆଣିଲା। ଏପରି ହେଲା, ଯେପରି ମୁଁ ଜାଣି ପାରିବି ପାପ କ'ଣ? ପାପ ହେଉଛି ଅତିଶୟ ମନ୍ଦ, ଏହା ଜଣାଇବା ପାଇଁ ଏପରି ଘଟିଲା ଓ ଆଜ୍ଞାର ବ୍ୟବହାର ମଧ୍ୟ ଏହାହିଁ ଦେଖାଇବା ପାଇଁ ହେଲା। BSB BSB: Did that which is good, then, become death to me? Certainly not! But in order that sin might be exposed as sin, it produced death in me through what was good, so that through the commandment sin might become utterly sinful.
14 UDB ମୁଁ ଜାଣେ ଯେ ବ୍ୟବସ୍ଥା ହେଉଛି ଆତ୍ମିକ। କିନ୍ତୁ ମୁଁ ଆତ୍ମିକ ନୁହେଁ। ପାପର ଦାସ ଭଳି ମୁଁ ତା' ପାଖରେ ବିକ୍ରି ହୋଇ ଯାଇଛି। ମୁଁ ଯାହାକରେ ତାହା ମୁଁ ବୁଝେ ନାହିଁ। BSB BSB: We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin.
15 UDB ଯେଉଁ ଭଲ କାମ ମୁଁ କରିବାକୁ ଇଚ୍ଛା କରେ, ମୁଁ ତାହା କରେ ନାହିଁ ଓ ଯେଉଁ ମନ୍ଦ କାମ କରିବାକୁ ମୁଁ ଘୃଣା କରେ, ସେହି କାମ କରେ। BSB BSB: I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do, I do not do. But what I hate, I do.
16 UDB ଯେଉଁ କାମ କରିବାକୁ ଚାହେଁ ନାହିଁ, ଯଦି ମୁଁ ତାହା କରେ, ତାହାର ଅର୍ଥ ଯେ, ବ୍ୟବସ୍ଥା ଭଲ ବୋଲି ସମର୍ଥନ କରେ। BSB BSB: And if I do what I do not want to do, I admit that the law is good.
17 UDB କିନ୍ତୁ ମୁଁ, ପ୍ରକୃତରେ ଏହି ମନ୍ଦ କର୍ମ କରି ନ ଥାଏ। ମୋ’ ଭିତରେ ଥିବା ପାପର ସ୍ୱଭାବ ଏହି ସବୁ କାମ କରେ। BSB BSB: In that case, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.
18 UDB ମୁଁ ଏହା ଜାଣେ ଯେ ମୋ’ ଭିତରେ କିଛି ଭଲ ନାହିଁ। ମୋ’ କହିବା ଅର୍ଥ ଯେ, ମୋ’ର ଶରୀରରେ କୌଣସି ଭଲ ବିଷୟ ନାହିଁ। BSB BSB: I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my flesh; for I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out.
19 UDB ମୁଁ ଭଲ କାମ କରିବାକୁ ଇଚ୍ଛା କରେ। କିନ୍ତୁ ମୁଁ ଏହା କରେ ନାହିଁ। BSB BSB: For I do not do the good I want to do. Instead, I keep on doing the evil I do not want to do.
20 UDB ମୁଁ ମନ୍ଦ କାମ କରେ ଯାହା ମୁଁ କରିବାକୁ ଚାହେଁ ନାହିଁ। ତାହାର ଅର୍ଥ ମୁଁ ପ୍ରକୃତରେ ଏସବୁ କରେ ନାହିଁ। ମୋ’ ଭିତରେ ଥିବା ପାପ ଏହି ସବୁ କାମ କରେ। BSB BSB: And if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.
21 UDB ସେହି ଭଳି ମୁଁ ଏହି ବ୍ୟବସ୍ଥାଟି ଶିଖିଛି: ଯେତେବେଳେ ମୁଁ ଭଲ କାମ କହିବାକୁ ଇଚ୍ଛା କରେ, ମନ୍ଦ ମୋ’ ପାଖେ ଉପସ୍ଥିତ ଥାଏ। BSB BSB: So this is the principle I have discovered: When I want to do good, evil is right there with me.
22 UDB ମୋ’ ନୂତନ ମନବୃତ୍ତିରେ, ମୁଁ ପରମେଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କର ବ୍ୟବସ୍ଥାରେ ସୁଖୀ ଅଟେ। BSB BSB: For in my inner being I delight in God’s law.
23 UDB କିନ୍ତୁ ମୋ’ ଶରୀରରେ ମୁଁ ଆଉ ଗୋଟିଏ ବ୍ୟବସ୍ଥା କାମ କରୁଥିବାର ଦେଖୁଛି। ସେମାନେ ଗ୍ରହଣ କରୁଥିବା ବ୍ୟବସ୍ଥା ସହିତ ମୋ’ ଶରୀରର ବ୍ୟବସ୍ଥା ସଂଘର୍ଷ କରୁଛି। ମୋ’ ଶରୀରରେ କାମ କରୁଥିବା ଏହି ବ୍ୟବସ୍ଥାଟି ପାପର ବ୍ୟବସ୍ଥା ଅଟେ, ଓ ସେହି ବ୍ୟବସ୍ଥା ମୋତେ ବନ୍ଦୀ କରି ପକାଏ। BSB BSB: But I see another law at work in my body, warring against the law of my mind and holding me captive to the law of sin that dwells within me.
24 UDB ଏହା ଭୟଙ୍କର ଅଟେ! ମୋତେ ଏହି ଶରୀରରୁ, ଯାହା ମୋ’ ପାଇଁ ମୁତ୍ୟୁ ଆଣେ, କିଏ ରକ୍ଷା କରିବ? ପରମେଶ୍ୱର ମୋତେ ରକ୍ଷା କରିବେ। BSB BSB: What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death?
25 UDB ଆମ୍ଭ ପ୍ରଭୁ ଯୀଶୁ ଖ୍ରୀଷ୍ଟଙ୍କ ମାଧ୍ୟମରେ ପରମେଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କ ଧନ୍ୟବାଦ ହେଉ। ଅତଏବ ମୋ’ ମନ ସହିତ ମୁଁ ପରମେଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କ ବ୍ୟବସ୍ଥାର ଦାସ। କିନ୍ତୁ ପାପପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ ସ୍ୱଭାବରେ ମୁଁ ପାପଯୁକ୍ତ ନିୟମର ଦାସ। BSB BSB: Thanks be to God, through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, with my mind I serve the law of God, but with my flesh I serve the law of sin.
