1 ULB ଏଥିଉତ୍ତାରେ ଶାଉଲ ପଲେଷ୍ଟୀୟମାନଙ୍କ ପଶ୍ଚାଦ୍ଗମନରୁ ଫେରନ୍ତେ, ଲୋକମାନେ ତାଙ୍କୁ ଜଣାଇ କହିଲେ, ଦେଖନ୍ତୁ, ଦାଉଦ ଐନଗଦୀସ୍ଥ ପ୍ରାନ୍ତରରେ ଅଛି। BSB BSB: After Saul had returned from pursuing the Philistines, he was told, “David is in the wilderness of En-gedi.”
2 ULB ତହୁଁ ଶାଉଲ ସମୁଦାୟ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲ ମଧ୍ୟରୁ ତିନି ହଜାର ବଛା ଲୋକ ନେଇ ଦାଉଦ ଓ ତାଙ୍କର ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କୁ ବନ୍ୟ ଛାଗର ଶୈଳ ସବୁରେ ଖୋଜିବାକୁ ଗଲେ। BSB BSB: So Saul took three thousand chosen men from all Israel and went to look for David and his men in the region of the Rocks of the Wild Goats.
3 ULB ପୁଣି, ସେ ପଥ ନିକଟସ୍ଥ ମେଷଶାଳାରେ ଉପସ୍ଥିତ ହୁଅନ୍ତେ, ସେଠାରେ ଗୋଟିଏ ଗୁମ୍ଫା ଥିଲା; ପୁଣି, ଶାଉଲ ପାଦ ଢାଙ୍କିବା ପାଇଁ ତହିଁ ଭିତରକୁ ଗଲେ। ସେହି ସମୟରେ ଦାଉଦ ଓ ତାଙ୍କର ଲୋକମାନେ ସେହି ଗୁମ୍ଫାର ଅନ୍ତର୍ଭାଗରେ ଥିଲେ। BSB BSB: Soon Saul came to the sheepfolds along the road, where there was a cave, and he went in to relieve himself. And David and his men were hiding in the recesses of the cave.
4 ULB ଏଥିରେ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କର ଲୋକମାନେ ତାଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, ଯେଉଁ ଦିନ ବିଷୟରେ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ କହିଥିଲେ, ଦେଖ, ଆମ୍ଭେ ତୁମ୍ଭ ଶତ୍ରୁକୁ ତୁମ୍ଭ ହସ୍ତରେ ଦେବା, ତହିଁରେ ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ଯେପରି ଭଲ ଦିଶିବ, ସେପରି ତୁମ୍ଭେ ତାହା ପ୍ରତି କରିବ, ସେଦିନ ଏହି ଦେଖ। ତହୁଁ ଦାଉଦ ଉଠି ଗୋପନରେ ଶାଉଲଙ୍କର ଚୋଗାଧଡ଼ି କାଟି ନେଲେ। BSB BSB: So David’s men said to him, “This is the day about which the LORD said to you, ‘Behold, I will deliver your enemy into your hand, that you may do with him as you wish.’” Then David crept up and stealthily cut off a corner of Saul’s robe.
5 ULB ମାତ୍ର ଶାଉଲଙ୍କର ବସ୍ତ୍ରଧଡ଼ି କାଟିବାରୁ ପଛେ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କର ଅନ୍ତଃକରଣ ତାଙ୍କୁ ଆଘାତ କଲା। BSB BSB: Afterward, David’s conscience was stricken because he had cut off the corner of Saul’s robe.
6 ULB ଏଣୁ ସେ ଆପଣା ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, ମୁଁ ଯେ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ଅଭିଷିକ୍ତ ମୋର ପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ପ୍ରତିକୂଳରେ ହାତ ଉଠାଇବି, ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ଏହା କରିବାକୁ ମୋତେ ନ ଦେଉନ୍ତୁ; କାରଣ ସେ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ଅଭିଷିକ୍ତ। BSB BSB: So he said to his men, “The LORD forbid that I should do such a thing to my master, the LORD’s anointed. May I never lift my hand against him, since he is the LORD’s anointed.”
7 ULB ଏସବୁ କଥା ଦ୍ୱାରା ଦାଉଦ ଆପଣା ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କୁ ଦମନ କଲେ ଓ ଶାଉଲଙ୍କ ପ୍ରତିକୂଳରେ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ଉଠିବାକୁ ଦେଲେ ନାହିଁ। ଏଉତ୍ତାରେ ଶାଉଲ ଗୁମ୍ଫାରୁ ବାହାରି ଆପଣା ପଥରେ ଗଲେ। BSB BSB: With these words David restrained his men, and he did not let them rise up against Saul. Then Saul left the cave and went on his way.
8 ULB ଦାଉଦ ମଧ୍ୟ ତହିଁ ଉତ୍ତାରେ ଉଠି ଗୁମ୍ଫାରୁ ବାହାରକୁ ଗଲେ ଓ ଶାଉଲଙ୍କର ପଛେ ଡାକି କହିଲେ, ହେ ମୋହର ପ୍ରଭୁ, ମହାରାଜ। ତହିଁରେ ଶାଉଲ ଆପଣା ପଛକୁ ଅନାନ୍ତେ, ଦାଉଦ ଭୂମିଷ୍ଠ ହୋଇ ପ୍ରଣାମ କଲେ। BSB BSB: After that, David got up, went out of the cave, and called out to Saul, “My lord the king!” When Saul looked behind him, David bowed facedown in reverence
9 ULB ଆଉ ଦାଉଦ ଶାଉଲଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, ଦେଖନ୍ତୁ, ଦାଉଦ ଆପଣଙ୍କର ଅନିଷ୍ଟ ଚାହୁଁଅଛି, ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କର ଏପରି କଥା ଆପଣ କାହିଁକି ଶୁଣୁଅଛନ୍ତି? BSB BSB: and said to Saul, “Why do you listen to the words of men who say, ‘Look, David intends to harm you’?
10 ULB ଦେଖନ୍ତୁ, ଆଜି ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ଗୁମ୍ଫା ମଧ୍ୟରେ କିପରି ଆପଣଙ୍କୁ ମୋହର ହସ୍ତରେ ଦେଇଥିଲେ, ଏହା ଆଜି ଆପଣଙ୍କ ଚକ୍ଷୁ ଦେଖିଅଛି; ଆପଣଙ୍କୁ ବଧ କରିବା ପାଇଁ କେହି କେହି ମୋତେ କହିଥିଲେ; ମାତ୍ର ମୋର ଚକ୍ଷୁ ଆପଣଙ୍କୁ ଦୟା କଲା ଓ ମୁଁ କହିଲି, ମୁଁ ଆପଣା ପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ବିରୁଦ୍ଧରେ ହାତ ଉଠାଇବି ନାହିଁ, କାରଣ ସେ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ଅଭିଷିକ୍ତ। BSB BSB: Behold, this day you have seen with your own eyes that the LORD delivered you into my hand in the cave. I was told to kill you, but I spared you and said, ‘I will not lift my hand against my lord, since he is the LORD’s anointed.’
11 ULB ଆହୁରି ମୋହର ପିତା, ଦେଖନ୍ତୁ, ହଁ, ମୋର ହାତରେ ଆପଣଙ୍କ ଚୋଗାଧଡ଼ି ଦେଖନ୍ତୁ; ମୁଁ ଯେ ଆପଣଙ୍କ ଚୋଗା ଧଡ଼ି କାଟିଲି, ମାତ୍ର ଆପଣଙ୍କୁ ବଧ ନ କଲି, ଏଥିରୁ ଆପଣ ବୁଝନ୍ତୁ ଓ ଦେଖନ୍ତୁ ଯେ, ମୋ’ ହାତରେ କିଛି ମନ୍ଦ ବା ଅଧର୍ମ ନାହିଁ, ଆପଣ ମୋ’ ପ୍ରାଣକୁ ଧରିବା ପାଇଁ ଅନ୍ୱେଷଣ କଲେ ହେଁ ମୁଁ ଆପଣଙ୍କ ବିରୁଦ୍ଧରେ ପାପ କରି ନାହିଁ। BSB BSB: See, my father, look at the corner of your robe in my hand. For I cut it off, but I did not kill you. Know and see that there is no evil or rebellion in my hands. I have not sinned against you, even though you are hunting me down to take my life.
12 ULB ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ମୋହର ଓ ଆପଣଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ବିଚାର କରନ୍ତୁ ଓ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ଆପଣଙ୍କଠାରୁ ମୋହର ପରିଶୋଧ ନେଉନ୍ତୁ; ମାତ୍ର ମୋହର ହସ୍ତ ଆପଣଙ୍କ ପ୍ରତିକୂଳ ହେବ ନାହିଁ। BSB BSB: May the LORD judge between you and me, and may the LORD take vengeance on you, but my hand will never be against you.
13 ULB ପ୍ରାଚୀନମାନଙ୍କ ପ୍ରବାଦ କହେ, ଯଥା, ଦୁଷ୍ଟଠାରୁ ଦୁଷ୍ଟତା ବାହାରେ; ମାତ୍ର ମୋହର ହସ୍ତ ଆପଣଙ୍କ ପ୍ରତିକୂଳ ହେବ ନାହିଁ। BSB BSB: As the old proverb says, ‘Wickedness proceeds from the wicked.’ But my hand will never be against you.
14 ULB ଇସ୍ରାଏଲର ରାଜା କାହା ପଛରେ ବାହାର ହୋଇ ଆସିଅଛନ୍ତି? ଆପଣ କାହା ପଛରେ ଗୋଡ଼ାଇ ଅଛନ୍ତି? ଗୋଟିଏ ମଲା କୁକ୍କୁର ପଛରେ, ଗୋଟିଏ ଡାଉଁଶ ପଛରେ। BSB BSB: Against whom has the king of Israel come out? Whom are you pursuing? A dead dog? A flea?
15 ULB ଏହେତୁ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ବିଚାରକର୍ତ୍ତା ହେଉନ୍ତୁ, ଆଉ ମୋହର ଓ ଆପଣଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ବିଚାର କରନ୍ତୁ, ପୁଣି, ଦୃଷ୍ଟି କରି ମୋହର ବିବାଦ ନିଷ୍ପତ୍ତି କରନ୍ତୁ ଓ ଆପଣଙ୍କ ହସ୍ତରୁ ମୋତେ ରକ୍ଷା କରନ୍ତୁ। BSB BSB: May the LORD be our judge and decide between you and me. May He take notice and plead my case and deliver me from your hand.”
16 ULB ଦାଉଦ ଶାଉଲଙ୍କୁ ଏହିସବୁ କଥା କହିସାରିଲା ଉତ୍ତାରେ ଶାଉଲ କହିଲେ, ଆମ୍ଭର ପୁତ୍ର ଦାଉଦ, ଏ କ’ଣ ତୁମ୍ଭର ରବ? ତହୁଁ ଶାଉଲ ରବ ଉଠାଇ ରୋଦନ କଲେ। BSB BSB: When David had finished saying these things, Saul called back, “Is that your voice, David my son?” Then Saul wept aloud
17 ULB ପୁଣି, ସେ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, ତୁମ୍ଭେ ମୋ’ଠାରୁ ଅଧିକ ଧାର୍ମିକ; କାରଣ ମୁଁ ତୁମ୍ଭର ମନ୍ଦ କଲେ ହେଁ ତୁମ୍ଭେ ମୋହର ଭଲ କରିଅଛ। BSB BSB: and said to David, “You are more righteous than I, for you have rewarded me with good, though I have rewarded you with evil.
18 ULB ତୁମ୍ଭେ ମୋ’ ପ୍ରତି କିପରି ଉତ୍ତମ ବ୍ୟବହାର କରିଅଛ, ତାହା ଆଜି ପ୍ରକାଶ କରିଅଛ; କାରଣ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ମୋତେ ତୁମ୍ଭ ହସ୍ତରେ ଦେଲେ ହେଁ ତୁମ୍ଭେ ମୋତେ ବଧ କଲ ନାହିଁ। BSB BSB: And you have declared this day how you have treated me well, for when the LORD delivered me into your hand, you did not kill me.
19 ULB ମନୁଷ୍ୟ ଆପଣା ଶତ୍ରୁକୁ ପାଇଲେ, ସେ କ’ଣ ତାକୁ ଭଲରେ ଯିବାକୁ ଦେବ? ଏଣୁ ଆଜି ତୁମ୍ଭେ ମୋ’ ପ୍ରତି ଯାହା କରିଅଛ, ତହିଁ ଲାଗି ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ଉତ୍ତମ ପୁରସ୍କାର ଦେଉନ୍ତୁ। BSB BSB: When a man finds his enemy, does he let him go away unharmed? May the LORD reward you with good for what you have done for me this day.
20 ULB ଏବେ ଦେଖ, ମୁଁ ଜାଣେ, ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଅବଶ୍ୟ ରାଜା ହେବ ଓ ତୁମ୍ଭ ହସ୍ତରେ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲର ରାଜ୍ୟ ସ୍ଥିର ହେବ। BSB BSB: Now I know for sure that you will be king and that the kingdom of Israel will be established in your hands.
21 ULB ଏହେତୁ ଏବେ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ନାମରେ ମୋର ନିକଟରେ ଶପଥ କର ଯେ, ତୁମ୍ଭେ ମୋ’ ଉତ୍ତାରେ ମୋହର ବଂଶକୁ ଉଚ୍ଛିନ୍ନ କରିବ ନାହିଁ ଓ ମୋହର ପିତୃଗୃହରୁ ମୋ’ ନାମ ଲୋପ କରିବ ନାହିଁ। BSB BSB: So now, swear to me by the LORD that you will not cut off my descendants or wipe out my name from my father’s house.”
22 ULB ତହିଁରେ ଦାଉଦ ଶାଉଲଙ୍କ ନିକଟରେ ଶପଥ କଲେ। ଏଉତ୍ତାରେ ଶାଉଲ ଗୃହକୁ ଗଲେ; ମାତ୍ର ଦାଉଦ ଓ ତାଙ୍କର ଲୋକମାନେ ଦୁର୍ଗମ ସ୍ଥାନକୁ ଆରୋହୀ ଗଲେ। BSB BSB: So David gave his oath to Saul. Then Saul returned home, but David and his men went up to the stronghold.
