1 ULB ଶାଉଲଙ୍କ ମୃତ୍ୟୁୁ ପରେ, ଦାଉଦ ଅମାଲେକୀୟମାନଙ୍କୁ ବଧକରି ଫେରି ସିକ୍ଲଗ୍ ନଗରରେ ଦୁଇ ଦିନ ରହିଲେ। BSB BSB: After the death of Saul, David returned from the slaughter of the Amalekites and stayed in Ziklag two days.
2 ULB ତୃତୀୟ ଦିନରେ ଶାଉଲଙ୍କ ଛାଉଣି ଭିତରୁ ଜଣେ ଲୋକ ଆପଣା ବସ୍ତ୍ର ଚିରି ଓ ମସ୍ତକରେ ମାଟି ଦେଇ ଆସିଲା; ପୁଣି ସେ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କ ନିକଟରେ ଉପସ୍ଥିତ ହୁଅନ୍ତେ, ଭୂମିରେ ପଡ଼ି ପ୍ରଣାମ କଲା। BSB BSB: On the third day a man with torn clothes and dust on his head arrived from Saul’s camp. When he came to David, he fell to the ground to pay him homage.
3 ULB ତହିଁରେ ଦାଉଦ ତାହାକୁ କହିଲେ, “ତୁମ୍ଭେ କେଉଁଠାରୁ ଆସିଅଛ?” ତହୁଁ ସେ କହିଲା, “ମୁଁ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲ ଛାଉଣିରୁ ପଳାଇ ଆସିଲି।” BSB BSB: “Where have you come from?” David asked. “I have escaped from the Israelite camp,” he replied.
4 ULB ତହିଁରେ ଦାଉଦ ତାହାକୁ କହିଲେ, “କଥା କଅଣ, ମୋତେ କହିଲ?” ତହୁଁ ସେ ଉତ୍ତର କଲା, “ଲୋକମାନେ ଯୁଦ୍ଧରୁ ପଳାଇଲେ, ପୁଣି ଅନେକ ଲୋକ ପତିତ ହେଲେ ଓ ମଲେ, ଆଉ ଶାଉଲ ଓ ତାଙ୍କର ପୁତ୍ର ଯୋନାଥନ ମଧ୍ୟ ମଲେ।” BSB BSB: “What was the outcome?” David asked. “Please tell me.” “The troops fled from the battle,” he replied. “Many of them fell and died. And Saul and his son Jonathan are also dead.”
5 ULB ତହିଁରେ ଦାଉଦ ସେହି ଯୁବାକୁ କହିଲେ, “ଶାଉଲ ଓ ତାଙ୍କର ପୁତ୍ର ଯୋନାଥନ ମଲେ ବୋଲି ତୁମ୍ଭେ କିପରି ଜାଣିଲ?” BSB BSB: Then David asked the young man who had brought him the report, “How do you know that Saul and his son Jonathan are dead?”
6 ULB ତହିଁରେ ସେହି ଯୁବା ତାଙ୍କୁ କହିଲା, “ମୁଁ ଅଚାନକ ଗିଲ୍ବୋୟ ପର୍ବତରେ ଉପସ୍ଥିତ ହୁଅନ୍ତେ, ଶାଉଲ ଆପଣା ବର୍ଚ୍ଛା ଉପରେ ଆଉଜି ପଡ଼ିଅଛନ୍ତି; ରଥ ଓ ଅଶ୍ୱାରୋହୀମାନେ ତାଙ୍କ ପଛେ ଲାଗି ରହିଅଛନ୍ତି। BSB BSB: “I happened to be on Mount Gilboa,” he replied, “and there was Saul, leaning on his spear, with the chariots and the cavalry closing in on him.
7 ULB ଶାଉଲ ପଛକୁ ଅନାନ୍ତେ, ମୋତେ ଦେଖି ଡାକିଲେ। ତହିଁରେ ମୁଁ ଉତ୍ତର କଲି, “ଏଠାରେ ମୁଁ ଅଛି।” BSB BSB: When he turned around and saw me, he called out to me, and I answered, ‘Here I am!’
8 ULB ତେଣୁ ସେ ମୋତେ କହିଲେ, “ତୁମ୍ଭେ କିଏ?” ମୁଁ ଉତ୍ତର କଲି, “ମୁଁ ଜଣେ ଅମାଲେକୀୟ ଲୋକ।” BSB BSB: ‘Who are you?’ he asked. So I told him, ‘I am an Amalekite.’
9 ULB ତେବେ ସେ ମୋତେ କହିଲେ, “ବିନୟ କରୁଅଛି, ମୋ’ ଉପରେ ଠିଆ ହୋଇ ମୋତେ ବଧ କର, ମୋତେ ବଡ଼ କଷ୍ଟ ହେଉଅଛି; କାରଣ ଏପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ମୋ’ଠାରେ ପ୍ରାଣ ସମ୍ପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ ରହିଅଛି।” BSB BSB: Then he begged me, ‘Stand over me and kill me, for agony has seized me, but my life still lingers.’
10 ULB ତହିଁରେ ମୁଁ ତାଙ୍କ ଉପରେ ଠିଆ ହୋଇ ତାଙ୍କୁ ବଧ କଲି; କାରଣ ସେ ପତନ ହେଲା ଉତ୍ତାରେ ସେ ଆଉ ବଞ୍ଚିବେ ନାହିଁ ବୋଲି ମୁଁ ଜାଣିଲି; ପୁଣି ମୁଁ ତାଙ୍କ ମସ୍ତକର ମୁକୁଟ ଓ ବାହୁର ବାଜୁ ନେଇ ଏଠାକୁ ମୋ’ ସ୍ୱାମୀଙ୍କ କତିକି ଆଣିଅଛି। BSB BSB: So I stood over him and killed him, because I knew that after he had fallen he could not survive. And I took the crown that was on his head and the band that was on his arm, and I have brought them here to my lord.”
11 ULB ଏଥିରେ ଦାଉଦ ଦୁଖଃ ସକାଶୁ ଆପଣା ବସ୍ତ୍ର ଧରି ଚିରିଲେ ଓ ତାଙ୍କ ସଙ୍ଗୀ ଲୋକମାନେ ମଧ୍ୟ ସେହିପରି କଲେ; BSB BSB: Then David took hold of his own clothes and tore them, and all the men who were with him did the same.
12 ULB ପୁଣି ଶାଉଲ ଓ ତାଙ୍କର ପୁତ୍ର ଯୋନାଥନ ଓ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ଲୋକମାନେ ଓ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲ ବଂଶ ଖଡ୍ଗରେ ପତିତ ହେବାରୁ ଦାଉଦ ଓ ତାଙ୍କ ସଙ୍ଗୀମାନେ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ନିମନ୍ତେ ବିଳାପ ଓ ରୋଦନ କଲେ ଓ ସନ୍ଧ୍ୟା ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ଉପବାସ କଲେ। BSB BSB: They mourned and wept and fasted until evening for Saul and his son Jonathan, and for the people of the LORD and the house of Israel, because they had fallen by the sword.
13 ULB ଏଉତ୍ତାରେ ଦାଉଦ ସେହି ଯୁବାକୁ କହିଲେ, “ତୁମ୍ଭେ କେଉଁ ସ୍ଥାନର ଲୋକ?” ସେ ଉତ୍ତର କଲା, “ମୁଁ ଜଣେ ବିଦେଶୀ ଅମାଲେକୀୟ ଲୋକର ପୁତ୍ର।” BSB BSB: And David inquired of the young man who had brought him the report, “Where are you from?” “I am the son of a foreigner,” he answered. “I am an Amalekite.”
14 ULB ତହୁଁ ଦାଉଦ ତାହାକୁ କହିଲେ, “ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଯେ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ଅଭିଷିକ୍ତଙ୍କୁ ନାଶ କରିବା ପାଇଁ ଆପଣା ହସ୍ତ ବଢ଼ାଇବାକୁ ଭୟ ନ କଲ, ଏ କିପରି?” BSB BSB: So David asked him, “Why were you not afraid to lift your hand to destroy the LORD’s anointed?”
15 ULB ଏଥିରେ ଦାଉଦ ଯୁବାମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରୁ ଜଣକୁ ଡାକି କହିଲେ, “ପାଖକୁ ଯାଇ ତାକୁ ଆକ୍ରମଣ କର।” ତହିଁରେ ସେ ତାକୁ ଆଘାତ କରନ୍ତେ, ସେ ଅମାଲେକୀୟ ମଲା। BSB BSB: Then David summoned one of the young men and said, “Go, execute him!” So the young man struck him down, and he died.
16 ULB ପୁଣି ଦାଉଦ ମୃତ ଅମାଲେକୀୟକୁ କହିଲେ, “ତୁମ୍ଭ ରକ୍ତ ତୁମ୍ଭ ମସ୍ତକରେ ବର୍ତ୍ତୁ; କାରଣ ତୁମ୍ଭର ମୁଖ ତୁମ୍ଭ ବିରୁଦ୍ଧରେ ସାକ୍ଷ୍ୟ ଦେଇ କହିଅଛି, ମୁଁ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ଅଭିଷିକ୍ତଙ୍କୁ ବଧ କରିଅଛି।” BSB BSB: For David had said to the Amalekite, “Your blood be on your own head because your own mouth has testified against you, saying, ‘I killed the LORD’s anointed.’”
17 ULB ଏଥିଉତ୍ତାରେ ଦାଉଦ ଶାଉଲ ଓ ତାଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର ଯୋନାଥନଙ୍କ ମୃତ୍ୟୁୁରେ ବିଳାପ କଲେ; BSB BSB: Then David took up this lament for Saul and his son Jonathan,
18 ULB ପୁଣି ଯିହୁଦା-ସନ୍ତାନମାନଙ୍କୁ ସେହି ଧନୁର୍ଗୀତ ଶିଖାଇବାକୁ ଆଜ୍ଞା ଦେଲେ; ଦେଖ, ତାହା ଯାଶେର୍ ପୁସ୍ତକରେ ଲେଖା ଅଛି। BSB BSB: and he ordered that the sons of Judah be taught the Song of the Bow. It is written in the Book of Jashar:
19 ULB “ହେ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲ, ତୁମ୍ଭର ଭୂଷଣ ସ୍ୱରୂପ, ତୁମ୍ଭ ଉଚ୍ଚସ୍ଥଳୀରେ ହତ ହେଲେ! ବୀରମାନେ କିପରି ପତିତ ହେଲେ! BSB BSB: “Your glory, O Israel, lies slain on your heights. How the mighty have fallen!
20 ULB ଗାଥ୍ରେ ଏହା ନ ଜଣାଅ, ଅସ୍କିଲୋନର ଦାଣ୍ଡରେ ଏହା ପ୍ରଚାର ନ କର; କଲେ ପଲେଷ୍ଟୀୟ କନ୍ୟାମାନେ ଆନନ୍ଦ କରିବେ ଓ ଅସୁନ୍ନତମାନଙ୍କ କନ୍ୟାଗଣ ଜୟଧ୍ୱନି କରିବେ। BSB BSB: Tell it not in Gath; proclaim it not in the streets of Ashkelon, lest the daughters of the Philistines rejoice, and the daughters of the uncircumcised exult.
21 ULB ହେ ଗିଲ୍ବୋୟ ପର୍ବତଗଣ, ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ଉପରେ କାକର କି ବୃଷ୍ଟି ନ ପଡ଼ୁ କିଅବା ଉପହାରଜନକ କ୍ଷେତ୍ର ନ ହେଉ; କାରଣ ସେଠାରେ ବୀରମାନଙ୍କର ଢାଲ ମଳିନ ହେଲା, ଶାଉଲଙ୍କର ଢାଲ ତୈଳରେ ଅନଭିଷିକ୍ତ ରହିଲା। BSB BSB: O mountains of Gilboa, may you have no dew or rain, no fields yielding offerings of grain. For there the shield of the mighty was defiled, the shield of Saul, no longer anointed with oil.
22 ULB ହତ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କ ରକ୍ତରୁ, ବୀରମାନଙ୍କ ମେଦରୁ ଯୋନାଥନଙ୍କ ଧନୁ ଫେରେ ନାହିଁ ଓ ଶାଉଲଙ୍କର ଖଡ୍ଗ ଖାଲି ହୋଇ ଫେରେ ନାହିଁ। BSB BSB: From the blood of the slain, from the fat of the mighty, the bow of Jonathan did not retreat, and the sword of Saul did not return empty.
23 ULB ଶାଉଲ ଓ ଯୋନାଥନ ଜୀବଦ୍ଦଶାରେ ପରସ୍ପର ପ୍ରିୟ ଓ ତୁଷ୍ଟିଜନକ ଥିଲେ, ମରଣ ସମୟରେ ହେଁ ସେମାନେ ଭିନ୍ନ ହେଲେ ନାହିଁ; ସେମାନେ ଉତ୍କ୍ରୋଶ ପକ୍ଷୀଠାରୁ ବେଗବାନ, ସେମାନେ ସିଂହଠାରୁ ବଳବାନ ଥିଲେ। BSB BSB: Saul and Jonathan, beloved and delightful in life, were not divided in death. They were swifter than eagles; they were stronger than lions.
24 ULB ହେ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲର କନ୍ୟାଗଣ, ଶାଉଲଙ୍କ ପାଇଁ ରୋଦନ କର, ସେ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କୁ ସିନ୍ଦୂରବର୍ଣ୍ଣ ବସ୍ତ୍ରରେ ସୁନ୍ଦର ରୂପେ ବସ୍ତ୍ରାନ୍ୱିତ କଲେ, ସେ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ବସ୍ତ୍ର ଉପରେ ସ୍ୱର୍ଣ୍ଣ ଅଳଙ୍କାର ମଣ୍ଡିଲେ। BSB BSB: O daughters of Israel, weep for Saul, who clothed you in scarlet and luxury, who decked your garments with ornaments of gold.
25 ULB ବୀରମାନେ ଯୁଦ୍ଧ ମଧ୍ୟରେ କିପରି ମରିଅଛନ୍ତି। ଯୋନାଥନ ତୁମ୍ଭ ଉଚ୍ଚସ୍ଥଳୀରେ ହତ ହେଲେ। BSB BSB: How the mighty have fallen in the thick of battle! Jonathan lies slain on your heights.
26 ULB ହେ ମୋହର ଭାଇ ଯୋନାଥନ, ମୁଁ ତୁମ୍ଭ ଲାଗି ବ୍ୟାକୁଳ ହେଉଅଛି; ତୁମ୍ଭେ ମୋହର ଅତି ତୁଷ୍ଟିଜନକ ଥିଲ; ମୋ’ ପ୍ରତି ତୁମ୍ଭର ପ୍ରେମ ଆଶ୍ଚର୍ଯ୍ୟ, ତାହା ସ୍ତ୍ରୀମାନଙ୍କ ପ୍ରେମରୁ ବଳିଗଲା। BSB BSB: I grieve for you, Jonathan, my brother. You were delightful to me; your love to me was extraordinary, surpassing the love of women.
27 ULB ବୀରମାନେ କିପରି ପତିତ ହେଲେ ଓ ଯୁଦ୍ଧାସ୍ତ୍ରସକଳ ବିନଷ୍ଟ ହେଲା।” BSB BSB: How the mighty have fallen, and the weapons of war have perished!”
