1 ULB ଏଥିଉତ୍ତାରେ ଦାଉଦ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କୁ ପଚାରି କହିଲେ, “ମୁଁ କ’ଣ ଯିହୁଦାର କୌଣସି ଏକ ନଗରକୁ ଯିବି”? ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ତାଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, “ଯାଅ।” ପୁଣି ଦାଉଦ କହିଲେ, “ମୁଁ କେଉଁ ସହରକୁ ଯିବି?” ସେ କହିଲେ “ହିବ୍ରୋଣକୁ।” BSB BSB: Some time later, David inquired of the LORD, “Should I go up to one of the towns of Judah?” “Go up,” the LORD answered. Then David asked, “Where should I go?” “To Hebron,” replied the LORD.
2 ULB ଏଣୁ ଦାଉଦ ଓ ତାଙ୍କର ଦୁଇ ଭାର୍ଯ୍ୟା ଯିଷ୍ରିୟେଲୀୟା ଅହୀନୋୟମ୍ ଓ କର୍ମିଲୀୟ ନାବଲର ଭାର୍ଯ୍ୟା ଅବୀଗଲ ନାମ୍ନୀ ସେହି ସ୍ଥାନକୁ ଗଲେ। BSB BSB: So David went there with his two wives, Ahinoam of Jezreel and Abigail the widow of Nabal of Carmel.
3 ULB ଆଉ ଦାଉଦ ମଧ୍ୟ ଆପଣା ସଙ୍ଗୀମାନଙ୍କୁ ପୁଣି ସେମାନଙ୍କର ପରିବାରବର୍ଗଙ୍କୁ ନେଲେ; ତହିଁରେ ସେମାନେ ହିବ୍ରୋଣର ନଗରମାନରେ ବାସ କଲେ। BSB BSB: David also took the men who were with him, each with his household, and they settled in the towns near Hebron.
4 ULB ତହୁଁ ଯିହୁଦାର ଲୋକମାନେ ଆସି ସେହି ସ୍ଥାନରେ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କୁ ଯିହୁଦା ବଂଶ ଉପରେ ରାଜାଭିଷିକ୍ତ କଲେ। ଏଉତ୍ତାରେ ଗିଲୀୟଦ ଅଞ୍ଚଳର ଯାବେଶ୍ ନଗରର ଲୋକମାନେ ଶାଉଲଙ୍କୁ କବର ଦେଲେ ବୋଲି ଲୋକମାନେ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କୁ ଜଣାଇଲେ। BSB BSB: Then the men of Judah came to Hebron, and there they anointed David king over the house of Judah. And they told David, “It was the men of Jabesh-gilead who buried Saul.”
5 ULB ତହିଁରେ ଦାଉଦ ଯାବେଶ୍-ଗିଲୀୟଦର ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ଦୂତଗଣ ପଠାଇ କହିଲେ, “ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ଦ୍ୱାରା ଆଶୀର୍ବାଦପାତ୍ର, କାରଣ ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଆପଣା ରାଜା ଶାଉଲଙ୍କ ପ୍ରତି ଏହି ଦୟା ପ୍ରକାଶ କରି ତାଙ୍କୁ କବର ଦେଇଅଛ। BSB BSB: So David sent messengers to the men of Jabesh-gilead to tell them, “The LORD bless you, because you showed this kindness to Saul your lord when you buried him.
6 ULB ଏଣୁ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ପ୍ରତି ଦୟା ଓ ସତ୍ୟତା ପ୍ରକାଶ କରନ୍ତୁ; ପୁଣି ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଏହି କର୍ମ କରିବାରୁ ମୁଁ ମଧ୍ୟ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କୁ ସେହି ଦୟାର ପ୍ରତିଦାନ କରିବି। BSB BSB: Now may the LORD show you loving devotion and faithfulness, and I will also show you the same favor because you have done this.
7 ULB ଏହେତୁ ଏବେ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ହସ୍ତ ସବଳ ହେଉ ଓ ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ସାହସିକ ହୁଅ; କାରଣ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ରାଜା ଶାଉଲ ମରିଅଛନ୍ତି, ମଧ୍ୟ ଯିହୁଦା ବଂଶ ଆପଣା ଉପରେ ମୋତେ ରାଜାଭିଷିକ୍ତ କରିଅଛନ୍ତି।” BSB BSB: Now then, be strong and courageous, for though Saul your lord is dead, the house of Judah has anointed me as their king.”
8 ULB ଏଥି ମଧ୍ୟରେ ନେର୍ର ପୁତ୍ର ଅବ୍ନର ନାମକ ଶାଉଲଙ୍କର ସୈନ୍ୟଦଳର ସେନାପତି ଶାଉଲଙ୍କର ପୁତ୍ର ଈଶ୍ବୋଶତକୁ ମହନୟିମକୁ ନେଇଯାଇ, BSB BSB: Meanwhile, Abner son of Ner, the commander of Saul’s army, took Saul’s son Ish-bosheth, moved him to Mahanaim,
9 ULB ଗିଲୀୟଦ ଓ ଅଶୂରି ଓ ଯିଷ୍ରିୟେଲ ଓ ଇଫ୍ରୟିମ ଓ ବିନ୍ୟାମୀନ୍ ଓ ସମସ୍ତ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲ ଉପରେ ରାଜା କଲେ। BSB BSB: and made him king over Gilead, Asher, Jezreel, Ephraim, and Benjamin—over all Israel.
10 ULB ଶାଉଲଙ୍କର ପୁତ୍ର ଈଶ୍ବୋଶତ ଚାଳିଶ ବର୍ଷ ବୟସରେ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲ ବଂଶ ଉପରେ ରାଜ୍ୟ କରିବାକୁ ଆରମ୍ଭ କରି ଦୁଇ ବର୍ଷ ରାଜତ୍ୱ କଲା। ମାତ୍ର ଯିହୁଦା ବଂଶ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କର ପଶ୍ଚାଦ୍ଗାମୀ ହେଲେ। BSB BSB: Saul’s son Ish-bosheth was forty years old when he began to reign over Israel, and he reigned for two years. The house of Judah, however, followed David.
11 ULB ପୁଣି ହିବ୍ରୋଣରେ ଯିହୁଦା ବଂଶ ଉପରେ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କ ରାଜା ହେବାର ସାତ ବର୍ଷ ଛଅ ମାସ ଥିଲା। BSB BSB: And the length of time that David was king in Hebron over the house of Judah was seven years and six months.
12 ULB ନେର୍ର ପୁତ୍ର ଅବ୍ନର ଓ ଶାଉଲଙ୍କର ପୁତ୍ର ଈଶ୍ବୋଶତର ଦାସମାନେ ମହନୟିମରୁ ବାହାରି ଗିବୀୟୋନ୍କୁ ଗଲେ। BSB BSB: One day Abner son of Ner and the servants of Ish-bosheth son of Saul marched out from Mahanaim to Gibeon.
13 ULB ସେତେବେଳେ ସରୁୟାର ପୁତ୍ର ଯୋୟାବ ଓ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କର ଦାସଗଣ ବାହାରି ଗିବୀୟୋନ୍ର ପୁଷ୍କରିଣୀ ନିକଟରେ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ଭେଟିଲେ; ପୁଣି ସେମାନଙ୍କର ଏକ ଦଳ ପୁଷ୍କରିଣୀର ଏକ ପାଖରେ, ଅନ୍ୟ ଦଳ ପୁଷ୍କରିଣୀର ଅନ୍ୟ ପାଖରେ ବସିଲେ। BSB BSB: So Joab son of Zeruiah and the servants of David marched out and met them by the pool of Gibeon. And the two groups took up positions on opposite sides of the pool.
14 ULB ଏଥିରେ ଅବ୍ନର ଯୋୟାବକୁ କହିଲା, “ଯୁବାମାନଙ୍କୁ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ସମ୍ମୁଖରେ ଉଠି ଖେଳିବା ପାଇଁ କହନ୍ତୁ।” ତହୁଁ ଯୋୟାବ କହିଲା, “ଉଠନ୍ତୁ।” BSB BSB: Then Abner said to Joab, “Let us have the young men get up and compete before us.” “Let them get up,” Joab replied.
15 ULB ତେଣୁ ସେମାନେ ସଂଖ୍ୟାନୁସାରେ ଉଠିଲେ; ବିନ୍ୟାମୀନ୍ ଓ ଶାଉଲଙ୍କର ପୁତ୍ର ଈଶ୍ବୋଶତ ପକ୍ଷରେ ବାର ଜଣ ଓ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କର ଦାସମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରୁ ବାର ଜଣ ଅଗ୍ରସର ହେଲେ। BSB BSB: So they got up and were counted off—twelve for Benjamin and Ish-bosheth son of Saul, and twelve for David.
16 ULB ତହୁଁ ସେମାନେ ପ୍ରତ୍ୟେକେ ଆପଣା ଆପଣା ସହଯୋଦ୍ଧାର ମସ୍ତକ ଧରି ଏକଆରେକ ବକ୍ଷରେ ଖଡ୍ଗ ଭୁସିଲେ; ତହୁଁ ସେମାନେ ସମସ୍ତେ ଏକତ୍ର ମଲେ; ଏହେତୁ ଗିବୀୟୋନ୍-ମଧ୍ୟବର୍ତ୍ତୀ ସେହି ସ୍ଥାନର ନାମ ହିଲ୍କତ୍ ହତ୍ସୂରୀମ୍ ହେଲା। BSB BSB: Then each man grabbed his opponent by the head and thrust his sword into his opponent’s side, and they all fell together. So this place, which is in Gibeon, is called Helkath-hazzurim.
17 ULB ସେହି ଦିନ ଅତି ଘୋର ଯୁଦ୍ଧ ହେଲା; ପୁଣି ଅବ୍ନର ଓ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲ ଲୋକମାନେ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କର ଦାସମାନଙ୍କ ସମ୍ମୁଖରେ ପରାସ୍ତ ହେଲେ। BSB BSB: The battle that day was intense, and Abner and the men of Israel were defeated by the servants of David.
18 ULB ସେହି ସ୍ଥାନରେ ଯୋୟାବ ଓ ଅବୀଶୟ ଓ ଅସାହେଲ ନାମରେ ସରୁୟାର ତିନି ପୁତ୍ର ଥିଲେ; ସେହି ଅସାହେଲ କ୍ଷେତ୍ରସ୍ଥ ମୃଗ ପରି ଦ୍ରୁତଗତି ଥିଲା। BSB BSB: The three sons of Zeruiah were there: Joab, Abishai, and Asahel. Now Asahel was fleet of foot like a wild gazelle,
19 ULB ପୁଣି ଅସାହେଲ ଅବ୍ନର ପଛେ ପଛେ ଗୋଡ଼ାଇଲା; ଆଉ ଅବ୍ନରର ପଛେ ଗଲା ବେଳେ ସେ ଦକ୍ଷିଣ କି ବାମକୁ ଫେରିଲା ନାହିଁ। BSB BSB: and he chased Abner, not turning to the right or to the left in his pursuit.
20 ULB ତେବେ ଅବ୍ନର ଆପଣା ପଛକୁ ଅନାଇ କହିଲା, “ଅସାହେଲ, ଏ କି ତୁମ୍ଭେ?” ସେ ଉତ୍ତର କଲା, “ମୁଁ।” BSB BSB: And Abner glanced back and said, “Is that you, Asahel?” “It is,” Asahel replied.
21 ULB ଏଥିରେ ଅବ୍ନର ତାହାକୁ କହିଲା, “ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଆପଣା ଡାହାଣ କି ବାମ ଆଡ଼େ ଫେରି ଏହି ଯୁବାମାନଙ୍କର କୌଣସି ଜଣକୁ ଧରି ତାହାର ସଜ୍ଜା ଲୁଟି ନିଅ।” ମାତ୍ର ଅସାହେଲ ତାହାର ପଶ୍ଚାତ୍ଗମନରୁ ଫେରିଲା ନାହିଁ। BSB BSB: So Abner told him, “Turn to your right or to your left, seize one of the young men, and take his equipment for yourself.” But Asahel would not stop chasing him.
22 ULB ତହୁଁ ଅବ୍ନର ପୁନର୍ବାର ଅସାହେଲକୁ କହିଲା, “ମୋହର ପଶ୍ଚାଦ୍ଗମନରୁ ଫେର; ମୁଁ କାହିଁକି ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ଆଘାତ କରି ଭୂମିସାତ୍ କରିବି? ତାହା କଲେ ମୁଁ କିପରି ତୁମ୍ଭ ଭାଇ ଯୋୟାବ ଆଗରେ ମୁଖ ଦେଖାଇବି?” BSB BSB: Once again, Abner warned Asahel, “Stop chasing me. Why should I strike you to the ground? How could I show my face to your brother Joab?”
23 ULB ତଥାପି ସେ ଫେରିବାକୁ ମନା କଲା; ଏଣୁ ଅବ୍ନର ବର୍ଚ୍ଛାର ପଛ ଅଗରେ ତାହାର ପେଟ ଭୁସି ଦିଅନ୍ତେ, ବର୍ଚ୍ଛା ତାହାର ପଛଆଡ଼େ ଫୁଟି ବାହାରିଲା; ତହୁଁ ସେ ସେହିଠାରେ ପଡ଼ି ସେହି ସ୍ଥାନରେ ମଲା; ପୁଣି ଯେତେ ଲୋକ ଅସାହେଲର ପଡ଼ିବା ଓ ମରିବା ସ୍ଥାନକୁ ଆସିଲେ, ସେମାନେ ଠିଆ ହୋଇ ରହିଲେ। BSB BSB: But Asahel refused to turn away. So Abner thrust the butt of his spear into his stomach, and it came out his back, and he fell dead on the spot. And every man paused when he came to the place where Asahel had fallen and died.
24 ULB ମାତ୍ର ଯୋୟାବ ଓ ଅବୀଶୟ ଅବ୍ନରର ପଛେ ପଛେ ଗୋଡ଼ାଇଲେ; ପୁଣି ସେମାନେ ଗିବୀୟୋନ୍ ପ୍ରାନ୍ତରର ପଥ ନିକଟବର୍ତ୍ତୀ ଗୀଆ ସମ୍ମୁଖସ୍ଥ ଅମା ପର୍ବତ ନିକଟରେ ଉପସ୍ଥିତ ହେବା ବେଳକୁ ସୂର୍ଯ୍ୟାସ୍ତ ହେଲା। BSB BSB: But Joab and Abishai pursued Abner. By sunset, they had gone as far as the hill of Ammah opposite Giah on the way to the wilderness of Gibeon.
25 ULB ଏଥି ମଧ୍ୟରେ ବିନ୍ୟାମୀନ୍-ସନ୍ତାନଗଣ ଅବ୍ନରର ପଶ୍ଚାତ୍ ମିଳି ଏକ ଦଳ ହୋଇ ଗୋଟିଏ ପର୍ବତ ଶୃଙ୍ଗରେ ଠିଆ ହେଲେ। BSB BSB: The Benjamites rallied to Abner, formed a single unit, and took their stand atop a hill.
26 ULB ତେବେ ଅବ୍ନର ଯୋୟାବକୁ ଡାକି କହିଲା, “ଖଡ୍ଗ କ’ଣ ସର୍ବଦା ଗ୍ରାସ କରିବ? ଶେଷରେ ତାହା ଯେ ତିକ୍ତ ହେବ, ଏହା କ’ଣ ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଜାଣ ନାହିଁ? ତେବେ ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କୁ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ଭାଇମାନଙ୍କ ପଶ୍ଚାଦ୍ଗମନରୁ ଫେରିବା ପାଇଁ କେତେ କାଳ ଆଜ୍ଞା ନ ଦେବ?” BSB BSB: Then Abner called out to Joab: “Must the sword devour forever? Do you not realize that this will only end in bitterness? How long before you tell the troops to stop pursuing their brothers?”
27 ULB ଏଥିରେ ଯୋୟାବ କହିଲା, “ପରମେଶ୍ୱର ଜୀବିତ ଥିବା ପ୍ରମାଣେ (କହୁ), ତୁମ୍ଭେ କହି ନ ଥିଲେ ତ ମୋର ସୈନିକମାନେ ନିଶ୍ଚୟ ସକାଳ ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ପ୍ରତ୍ୟେକେ ଆପଣା ଭାଇ ପଛରେ ଗୋଡ଼ାଇ ଥା’ନ୍ତେ।” BSB BSB: “As surely as God lives,” Joab replied, “if you had not spoken up, the troops would have continued pursuing their brothers until morning.”
28 ULB ତହୁଁ ଯୋୟାବ ତୂରୀ ବଜାନ୍ତେ, ସମସ୍ତ ଲୋକ ଅଟକି ରହିଲେ ଓ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲ ପଛରେ ଆଉ ଗୋଡ଼ାଇଲେ ନାହିଁ, କି ଆଉ ଯୁଦ୍ଧ କଲେ ନାହିଁ। BSB BSB: So Joab blew the ram’s horn, and all the troops stopped; they no longer pursued Israel or continued to fight.
29 ULB ଏଉତ୍ତାରେ ଅବ୍ନର ଓ ତାହାର ଲୋକମାନେ ସେହି ରାତ୍ରିସାରା ପଦାଭୂମି ଦେଇ ଗମନ କଲେ ଓ ସେମାନେ ଯର୍ଦ୍ଦନ ପାର ହୋଇ ସମୁଦାୟ ବିଥ୍ରୋଣ ଦେଶ ଦେଇ ଯାଇ ମହନୟିମରେ ଉପସ୍ଥିତ ହେଲେ। BSB BSB: And all that night Abner and his men marched through the Arabah. They crossed the Jordan, marched all morning, and arrived at Mahanaim.
30 ULB ଆଉ ଯୋୟାବ ଅବ୍ନରର ପଶ୍ଚାଦ୍ଗମନରୁ ଫେରିଲା; ପୁଣି ସେ ସମୁଦାୟ ଲୋକଙ୍କୁ ଏକତ୍ର କରନ୍ତେ, ଦାଉଦଙ୍କର ସୈନିକମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରୁ ଊଣାଇଶ ଜଣ ଓ ଅସାହେଲ ଅନୁପସ୍ଥିତ ଥିଲେ। BSB BSB: When Joab returned from pursuing Abner, he gathered all the troops. In addition to Asahel, nineteen of David’s servants were missing,
31 ULB ମାତ୍ର ଦାଉଦଙ୍କର ଦାସମାନେ ଆଘାତ କରିବାରୁ ବିନ୍ୟାମୀନ୍ର ଓ ଅବ୍ନରର ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରୁ ତିନି ଶହ ଷାଠିଏ ଲୋକ ମରିଥିଲେ। BSB BSB: but they had struck down 360 Benjamites who were with Abner.
32 ULB ଏଉତ୍ତାରେ ସେମାନେ ଅସାହେଲକୁ ଉଠାଇ ନେଇ ବେଥଲିହିମସ୍ଥିତ ତାହାର ପିତାର କବରରେ କବର ଦେଲେ। ପୁଣି ଯୋୟାବ ଓ ତାହାର ଲୋକମାନେ ସାରାରାତ୍ରି ଯାତ୍ରା କଲେ ଓ ହିବ୍ରୋଣ ନିକଟରେ ସେମାନେ ସକାଳ ପହଞ୍ଚିଲେ। BSB BSB: And they took Asahel and buried him in his father’s tomb in Bethlehem. Then Joab and his men marched all night and reached Hebron at daybreak.
