1 ULB ਤਾਂ ਐਉਂ ਹੋਇਆ ਕਿ ਜਦ ਰਹਬੁਆਮ ਦਾ ਰਾਜ ਪੱਕਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਵਾਲਾ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ ਤਦ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਰੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਨੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਿਵਸਥਾ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੱਤਾ BSB BSB: After Rehoboam had established his sovereignty and royal power, he and all Israel with him forsook the Law of the LORD.

5 ULB ਤਦ ਸ਼ਮਆਯਾਹ ਨਬੀ ਰਹਬੁਆਮ ਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੇ ਸਰਦਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਸ਼ੀਸ਼ਕ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੋਂ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਸਨ ਐਉਂ ਫਰਮਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਇਸ ਲਈ ਮੈਂ ਵੀ ਤਹਾਨੂੰ ਸ਼ੀਸ਼ਕ ਦੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿੱਚ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੱਤਾ BSB BSB: Then Shemaiah the prophet came to Rehoboam and the leaders of Judah who had gathered at Jerusalem because of Shishak, and he said to them, “This is what the LORD says: ‘You have forsaken Me; therefore, I have forsaken you into the hand of Shishak.’”
6 ULB ਤਦ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਸਰਦਾਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਅਧੀਨ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਹੀ ਧਰਮੀ ਹੈ BSB BSB: So the leaders of Israel and the king humbled themselves and said, “The LORD is righteous.”
7 ULB ਜਦ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਅਧੀਨ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਤਦ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਬਚਨ ਸ਼ਮਆਯਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਆਇਆ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਅਧੀਨ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਹੈ ਸੋ ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਸ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ ਪਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੁਝ ਰਿਹਾਈ ਦੇਵਾਂਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਕਹਿਰ ਸ਼ੀਸ਼ਕ ਦੇ ਹੱਥੋਂ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਉੱਤੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਵੇਗਾ BSB BSB: When the LORD saw that they had humbled themselves, the word of the LORD came to Shemaiah, saying, “They have humbled themselves; I will not destroy them, but will soon grant them deliverance. My wrath will not be poured out on Jerusalem through Shishak.
8 ULB ਤਾਂ ਵੀ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਹੋਣਗੇ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਅਤੇ ਦੇਸ ਦੇਸ ਦੇ ਰਾਜਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣ ਲੈਣ BSB BSB: Nevertheless, they will become his servants, so that they may learn the difference between serving Me and serving the kings of other lands.”
9 ULB ਸੋ ਮਿਸਰ ਦਾ ਰਾਜਾ ਸ਼ੀਸ਼ਕ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਉੱਤੇ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਆਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਭਵਨ ਦੇ ਖਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਨੂੰ ਅਤੇ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਮਹਿਲ ਦੇ ਖਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਗਿਆ ਸਗੋਂ ਉਹ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਲੈ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਸੋਨੇ ਦੀਆਂ ਉਹ ਢਾਲਾਂ ਵੀ ਜੋ ਸੁਲੇਮਾਨ ਨੇ ਬਣਵਾਈਆਂ ਸਨ ਲੈ ਗਿਆ BSB BSB: So King Shishak of Egypt attacked Jerusalem and seized the treasures of the house of the LORD and of the royal palace. He took everything, including the gold shields that Solomon had made.
10 ULB ਤਾਂ ਰਹਬੁਆਮ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਬਦਲੇ ਪਿੱਤਲ ਦੀਆਂ ਢਾਲਾਂ ਬਣਵਾਈਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਨਿਗਾਹਬਾਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਰਦਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਮਹਿਲ ਦੇ ਦਰਵਾਜ਼ੇ ਦੀ ਰਾਖੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਸਨ ਹੱਥ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੌਂਪ ਦਿੱਤਾ। BSB BSB: Then King Rehoboam made bronze shields in their place and committed them to the care of the captains of the guard on duty at the entrance to the royal palace.
11 ULB ਜਦ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਭਵਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਸੀ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਨਿਗਾਹਬਾਨ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚੁੱਕ ਕੇ ਨਿਗਾਹਬਾਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਕੋਠੜੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਫੇਰ ਰੱਖ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਸਨ BSB BSB: And whenever the king entered the house of the LORD, the guards would go with him, bearing the shields, and later they would return them to the guardroom.
12 ULB ਜਦ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਅਧੀਨ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਤਾਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਕਹਿਰ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਟਲ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਸ ਨਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਨਾਲੇ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਚੰਗੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਵੀ ਸਨ। BSB BSB: Because Rehoboam humbled himself, the anger of the LORD turned away from him, and He did not destroy him completely. Indeed, conditions were good in Judah.
13 ULB ਸੋ ਰਹਬੁਆਮ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਤਕੜਾ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਾਜ ਕੀਤਾ। ਰਹਬੁਆਮ ਜਿਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਰਾਜ ਕਰਨ ਲੱਗਾ ਤਾਂ ਇੱਕਤਾਲੀ ਸਾਲਾਂ ਦਾ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਰਥਾਤ ਉਸ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਗੋਤਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਚੁਣ ਲਿਆ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਮ ਉੱਥੇ ਰੱਖੇ ਸਤਾਰਾਂ ਸਾਲ ਰਾਜ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮਾਤਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਨਅਮਾਹ ਅੰਮੋਨਣ ਸੀ BSB BSB: Thus King Rehoboam established himself in Jerusalem and reigned. He was forty-one years old when he became king, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city the LORD had chosen from all the tribes of Israel in which to put His Name. His mother’s name was Naamah the Ammonite.
14 ULB ਉਸ ਨੇ ਬੁਰਿਆਈ ਕੀਤੀ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੀ ਖੋਜ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਨ ਨਾ ਲਾਇਆ BSB BSB: And Rehoboam did evil because he did not set his heart to seek the LORD.
15 ULB ਅਤੇ ਰਹਬੁਆਮ ਦੇ ਕੰਮ ਮੁੱਢ ਤੋਂ ਅੰਤ ਤੱਕ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਸ਼ਮਅਯਾਹ ਨਬੀ ਅਤੇ ਇੱਦੋ ਗੈਬਦਾਨ ਦੇ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੁਲ ਪੱਤ੍ਰੀ ਦੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਲਿਖੇ ਨਹੀਂ? ਅਤੇ ਰਹਬੁਆਮ ਅਤੇ ਯਾਰਾਬੁਆਮ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਦਾ ਲੜਾਈ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਰਹੀ BSB BSB: Now the acts of Rehoboam, from first to last, are they not written in the records of Shemaiah the Prophet and of Iddo the Seer concerning the genealogies? There was war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam throughout their days.
16 ULB ਤਾਂ ਰਹਬੁਆਮ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਉ-ਦਾਦਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਸੌਂ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਦਾਊਦ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੱਬਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਅਬੀਯਾਹ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਥਾਂ ਰਾਜ ਕਰਨ ਲੱਗਾ। BSB BSB: And Rehoboam rested with his fathers and was buried in the City of David. And his son Abijah reigned in his place.
