BSB BSB: and you are not to make a covenant with the people of this land, but you shall tear down their altars.’ Yet you have not obeyed My voice. What is this you have done?
3 ULB ਇਸ ਲਈ ਮੈਂ ਵੀ ਕਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਅੱਗੋਂ ਨਾ ਕੱਢਾਂਗਾ, ਸਗੋਂ ਉਹ ਤੁਹਾਡੀਆਂ ਵੱਖੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੰਡਿਆਂ ਵਰਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਦੇਵਤੇ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਲਈ ਫਾਹੀ ਹੋਣਗੇ।" BSB BSB: So now I tell you that I will not drive out these people before you; they will be thorns in your sides, and their gods will be a snare to you.”
4 ULB ਜਦ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਦੂਤ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖੀਆਂ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕ ਉੱਚੀ-ਉੱਚੀ ਰੋਣ ਲੱਗ ਪਏ। BSB BSB: When the angel of the LORD had spoken these words to all the Israelites, the people lifted up their voices and wept.
5 ULB ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਸਥਾਨ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਬੋਕੀਮ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉੱਥੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਬਲੀਆਂ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਈਆਂ। BSB BSB: So they called that place Bochim and offered sacrifices there to the LORD.
6 ULB ਜਿਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਯਹੋਸ਼ੁਆ ਨੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਦਿਆ ਕੀਤਾ, ਤਾਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀ ਆਪੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿੱਸੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਚਲੇ ਗਏ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਦੇਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਵੱਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਰ ਲੈਣ। BSB BSB: After Joshua had dismissed the people, the Israelites went out to take possession of the land, each to his own inheritance.

8 ULB ਤਦ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਦਾਸ ਨੂਨ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਯਹੋਸ਼ੁਆ ਇੱਕ ਸੌ ਦਸ ਸਾਲ ਦਾ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਮਰ ਗਿਆ। BSB BSB: And Joshua son of Nun, the servant of the LORD, died at the age of 110.
9 ULB ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿੱਸੇ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਤਿਮਨਥ-ਹਰਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਜੋ ਇਫ਼ਰਾਈਮ ਦੇ ਪਹਾੜੀ ਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਗਾਸ਼ ਨਾਮਕ ਪਹਾੜ ਦੇ ਉੱਤਰ ਵੱਲ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਬ ਦਿੱਤਾ। BSB BSB: They buried him in the land of his inheritance, at Timnath-heres in the hill country of Ephraim, north of Mount Gaash.

11 ULB ਤਦ ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਬੁਰਿਆਈ ਕੀਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਬਆਲ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਪੂਜਾ ਕਰਨ ਲੱਗੇ। BSB BSB: And the Israelites did evil in the sight of the LORD and served the Baals.

They bowed down to them and provoked the LORD to anger,

He sold them into the hands of their enemies all around, whom they were no longer able to resist.

So they were greatly distressed.
16 ULB ਫੇਰ ਵੀ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਨਿਆਂਈਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਠਹਿਰਾਉਂਦਾ ਜੋ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲੁਟੇਰਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਹੱਥੋਂ ਛੁਡਾ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਸਨ। BSB BSB: Then the LORD raised up judges, who saved them from the hands of those who plundered them.
17 ULB ਪਰ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਿਆਂਈਆਂ ਦੀ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੰਨਦੇ ਸਨ, ਸਗੋਂ ਪਰਾਏ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਲੱਗ ਕੇ ਵਿਭਚਾਰੀ ਹੋਏ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੱਥਾ ਟੇਕਦੇ ਸਨ, ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਰਾਹ ਤੋਂ ਛੇਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਮੁੜ ਗਏ ਜਿਸ ਉੱਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਿਉ-ਦਾਦੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੀ ਆਗਿਆ ਮੰਨਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਚੱਲਦੇ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਨਾ ਚੱਲੇ। BSB BSB: Israel, however, did not listen to their judges. Instead, they prostituted themselves with other gods and bowed down to them. They quickly turned from the way of their fathers, who had walked in obedience to the LORD’s commandments; they did not do as their fathers had done.
18 ULB ਜਦ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਨਿਆਂਈਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਠਹਿਰਾਉਂਦਾ ਤਾਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਿਆਂਈਆਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਜਦ ਤੱਕ ਨਿਆਂਈ ਜੀਉਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਸੀ ਤਦ ਤੱਕ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਵੈਰੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਹੱਥੋਂ ਛੁਡਾਉਂਦਾ ਸੀ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਦੁਹਾਈ ਤੋਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਲੁਟੇਰਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਸਨ, ਦੁਖੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਸੀ। BSB BSB: Whenever the LORD raised up a judge for the Israelites, He was with that judge and saved them from the hands of their enemies while the judge was still alive; for the LORD was moved to pity by their groaning under those who oppressed them and afflicted them.
19 ULB ਪਰ ਜਦ ਉਹ ਨਿਆਂਈ ਮਰ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਫਿਰ ਮੁੜ ਜਾਂਦੇ, ਅਤੇ ਪਰਾਏ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਪੂਜਾ ਕਰਕੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਲਗਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਟੇਕਦੇ, ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਉ-ਦਾਦਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਅਪਰਾਧੀ ਬਣੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਬੁਰੇ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਢੀਠਪੁਣੇ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਨ। BSB BSB: But when the judge died, the Israelites became even more corrupt than their fathers, going after other gods to serve them and bow down to them. They would not give up their evil practices and stubborn ways.
20 ULB ਇਸ ਲਈ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਉੱਤੇ ਫੇਰ ਭੜਕਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, "ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਇਸ ਕੌਮ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਉਸ ਨੇਮ ਨੂੰ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਿਉ-ਦਾਦਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਬੰਨ੍ਹਿਆ ਸੀ, ਤੋੜ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਆਗਿਆ ਨਾ ਮੰਨੀ, BSB BSB: So the anger of the LORD burned against Israel, and He said, “Because this nation has transgressed the covenant I laid down for their fathers and has not heeded My voice,
21 ULB ਇਸ ਲਈ ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਵੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਯਹੋਸ਼ੁਆ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਮਰ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ, ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੱਗਿਓਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੱਢਾਂਗਾ BSB BSB: I will no longer drive out before them any of the nations Joshua left when he died.
22 ULB ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਖਿਆ ਲਵਾਂ ਕਿ ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਿਉ-ਦਾਦੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਰਾਹਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਚੱਲਦੇ ਸਨ, ਉਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਚੱਲਣਗੇ ਜਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ।" BSB BSB: In this way I will test whether Israel will keep the way of the LORD by walking in it as their fathers did.”
23 ULB ਇਸ ਲਈ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਛੇਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਨਾ ਕੱਢਿਆ ਸਗੋਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਰਹਿਣ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਯਹੋਸ਼ੁਆ ਦੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ। BSB BSB: That is why the LORD had left those nations in place and had not driven them out immediately by delivering them into the hand of Joshua.
