2 ULB ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਯਾਕੂਬ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਬਸਤੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਬੇਤਰਸ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਨਿਗਲ ਲਿਆ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਵਿੱਚ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੀ ਧੀ ਦੇ ਗੜ੍ਹ ਢਾਹ ਕੇ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਲਾ ਦਿੱਤੇ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਰਾਜ ਨੂੰ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਾਕਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਸ਼ੁੱਧ ਠਹਿਰਾਇਆ ਹੈ। BSB BSB: Without pity the Lord has swallowed up all the dwellings of Jacob. In His wrath He has demolished the fortified cities of the Daughter of Judah. He brought to the ground and defiled her kingdom and its princes.
3 ULB ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਭੜਕਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਿੰਗ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਢ ਸੁੱਟਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਵੈਰੀ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਸੱਜਾ ਹੱਥ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਖਿੱਚ ਲਿਆ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਚਾਰ-ਚੁਫ਼ੇਰੇ ਭੜਕਦੀ ਹੋਈ ਅੱਗ ਦੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਯਾਕੂਬ ਨੂੰ ਸਾੜ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। BSB BSB: In fierce anger He has cut off every horn of Israel and withdrawn His right hand at the approach of the enemy. He has burned in Jacob like a flaming fire that consumes everything around it.
4 ULB ਉਸ ਨੇ ਵੈਰੀ ਦੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਧਣੁੱਖ ਖਿੱਚਿਆ, ਅਤੇ ਵਿਰੋਧੀ ਦੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਸੱਜਾ ਹੱਥ ਚੁੱਕਿਆ ਹੈ, ਜਿੰਨੇ ਵੇਖਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਨਭਾਉਣੇ ਸਨ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਵੱਢ ਸੁੱਟਿਆ ਹੈ, ਸੀਯੋਨ ਦੀ ਧੀ ਦੇ ਤੰਬੂ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਅੱਗ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁੱਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਵਹਾਇਆ ਹੈ। BSB BSB: He has bent His bow like an enemy; His right hand is positioned. Like a foe He has killed all who were pleasing to the eye; He has poured out His wrath like fire on the tent of the Daughter of Zion.
5 ULB ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਵੈਰੀ ਵਾਂਗਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਨੂੰ ਨਿਗਲ ਲਿਆ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਮਹਿਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਿਗਲ ਲਿਆ, ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਗੜ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਢਾਹ ਸੁੱਟਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੀ ਧੀ ਦਾ ਰੋਣਾ ਪਿੱਟਣਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਵਧਾਇਆ ਹੈ। BSB BSB: The Lord is like an enemy; He has swallowed up Israel. 6 ULB ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਤੰਬੂ ਨੂੰ ਬਾਗ਼ ਦੀ ਮਚਾਨ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਢਾਹ ਸੁੱਟਿਆ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਮੰਡਲੀ ਦੇ ਸਥਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਬਰਬਾਦ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਸੀਯੋਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਠਹਿਰਾਏ ਹੋਏ ਪਰਬਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਸਬਤ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਸਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਭੜਕਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਾਜਾ ਅਤੇ ਜਾਜਕ ਨੂੰ ਤੁੱਛ ਜਾਣਿਆ। BSB BSB: He has laid waste His tabernacle like a garden booth; He has destroyed His place of meeting. The LORD has made Zion forget her appointed feasts and Sabbaths. In His fierce anger He has despised both king and priest.
7 ULB ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਜਗਵੇਦੀ ਨੂੰ ਤਿਆਗ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਸਥਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਘਿਰਣਾ ਕਰਕੇ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਮਹਿਲਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਕੰਧਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੈਰੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਹੱਥ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਭਵਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਰੌਲਾ ਪਾਇਆ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਪਰਬ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ! BSB BSB: The Lord has rejected His altar; He has abandoned His sanctuary; He has delivered the walls of her palaces into the hand of the enemy. They have raised a shout in the house of the LORD as on the day of an appointed feast.
8 ULB ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਸੀਯੋਨ ਦੀ ਧੀ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਹਿਰਪਨਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਢਾਹੁਣਾ ਠਾਣ ਲਿਆ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਮਾਪ ਦੀ ਡੋਰੀ ਖਿੱਚੀ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਹੱਥ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਨਾ ਹਟਾਇਆ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਕਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰਪਨਾਹ ਦੋਵਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਵਿਰਲਾਪ ਕਰਾਇਆ, ਉਹ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਇੱਕਠੇ ਬਰਬਾਦ ਹੋ ਗਏ। BSB BSB: The LORD determined to destroy the wall of the Daughter of Zion. He stretched out a measuring line and did not withdraw His hand from destroying. He made the ramparts and walls lament; together they waste away.

Her king and her princes are exiled among the nations, the law is no more, and even her prophets find no vision from the LORD.
10 ULB ਸੀਯੋਨ ਦੀ ਧੀ ਦੇ ਬਜ਼ੁਰਗ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਉੱਤੇ ਚੁੱਪ-ਚਾਪ ਬੈਠੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਿਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਪਾਈ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਤੱਪੜ ਪਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ। ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਦੀਆਂ ਕੁਆਰੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਿਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਧਰਤੀ ਤੱਕ ਝੁਕਾਇਆ ਹੈ। BSB BSB: The elders of the Daughter of Zion sit on the ground in silence. They have thrown dust on their heads and put on sackcloth. The young women of Jerusalem have bowed their heads to the ground.
11 ULB ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਰੋ-ਰੋ ਕੇ ਧੁੰਦਲੀਆਂ ਹੋ ਗਈਆਂ ਹਨ, ਮੇਰਾ ਦਿਲ ਬੇਚੈਨ ਹੈ, ਮੇਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੀ ਦੀ ਬਰਬਾਦੀ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ, ਮੇਰਾ ਕਾਲਜਾ ਫੱਟ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਨਿਆਣੇ ਅਤੇ ਦੁੱਧ ਚੁੰਘਦੇ ਬੱਚੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਗਲੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੇਸੁਰਤ ਪਏ ਹਨ। BSB BSB: My eyes fail from weeping; I am churning within. My heart is poured out in grief over the destruction of the daughter of my people, because children and infants faint in the streets of the city.
12 ULB ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਮਾਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਰੋ-ਰੋ ਕੇ ਪੁੱਛਦੇ ਹਨ, ਅੰਨ ਅਤੇ ਦਾਖਰਸ ਕਿੱਥੇ ਹਨ? ਉਹ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਗਲੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਜ਼ਖਮੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵਾਗੂੰ ਬੇਸੁਰਤ ਹੋ ਕੇ, ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਮਾਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਗੋਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। BSB BSB: They cry out to their mothers: “Where is the grain and wine?” as they faint like the wounded in the streets of the city, as their lives fade away in the arms of their mothers.
13 ULB ਹੇ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਦੀਏ ਧੀਏ, ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਕੀ ਆਖਾਂ, ਅਤੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਕਿਹ ਦੇ ਵਰਗੀ ਠਹਿਰਾਵਾਂ? ਹੇ ਸੀਯੋਨ ਦੀਏ ਕੁਆਰੀਏ ਧੀਏ! ਮੈਂ ਕਿਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਤੇਰੀ ਤੁਲਨਾ ਕਰਾਂ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਤੱਸਲੀ ਦਿਆਂ? ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਤੇਰਾ ਜ਼ਖਮ ਸਾਗਰ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੈ, ਕੌਣ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਕਰ ਸਕੇਗਾ? BSB BSB: What can I say for you? To what can I compare you, O Daughter of Jerusalem? To what can I liken you, that I may console you, O Virgin Daughter of Zion? For your wound is as deep as the sea. Who can ever heal you?
14 ULB ਤੇਰੇ ਨਬੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਝੂਠੇ ਤੇ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਵੇਖੇ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਅਪਰਾਧਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਗਟ ਨਾ ਕੀਤਾ, ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਤੇਰੀ ਗ਼ੁਲਾਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਰੋਕ ਦਿੰਦੇ, ਪਰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਤੇ ਭਰਮਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਅੰਗਮ ਵਾਕ ਬੋਲੇ, BSB BSB: The visions of your prophets were empty and deceptive; they did not expose your guilt to ward off your captivity. The burdens they envisioned for you were empty and misleading.
15 ULB ਸਭ ਲੰਘਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਤਾਲੀਆਂ ਵਜਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਦੀ ਧੀ ਦੇ ਉੱਤੇ, ਨੱਕ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਉਂਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਸਿਰ ਹਿਲਾਉਂਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਕੀ ਇਹ ਉਹੋ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਇਹ ਨਾਮ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਸਨ, "ਸੁੰਦਰਤਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਿੱਧ, ਸਾਰੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਦਾ ਅਨੰਦ?" They hiss and shake their heads at the Daughter of Jerusalem: “Is this the city that was called the perfection of beauty, the joy of all the earth?”
16 ULB ਤੇਰੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਵੈਰੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਆਪਣਾ ਮੂੰਹ ਅੱਡਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਖਿੱਲ੍ਹੀ ਉਡਾਉਂਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਦੰਦ ਪੀਂਹਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਅਸੀਂ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਨਿਗਲ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਅਸੀਂ ਇਸੇ ਹੀ ਦਿਨ ਨੂੰ ਤਾਂ ਉਡੀਕਦੇ ਸੀ, ਇਹ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਲੱਭ ਗਿਆ, ਅਸੀਂ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ! BSB BSB: All your enemies open their mouths against you. They hiss and gnash their teeth, saying, “We have swallowed her up. This is the day for which we have waited. We have lived to see it!”
17 ULB ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਉਹੋ ਕੀਤਾ, ਜੋ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਠਾਣਿਆ ਸੀ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਬਚਨ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਾ ਕੀਤਾ, ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਬੀਤੇ ਸਮਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਢਾਹ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਤਰਸ ਨਾ ਖਾਧਾ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਵੈਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਅਨੰਦ ਕਰਾਇਆ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਵਿਰੋਧੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਸਿੰਗ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਚਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। BSB BSB: The LORD has done what He planned; He has accomplished His decree, which He ordained in days of old; He has overthrown you without pity. He has let the enemy gloat over you and exalted the horn of your foes.
18 ULB ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਦਿਲ ਤੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਦੁਹਾਈ ਦਿੱਤੀ, ਹੇ ਸੀਯੋਨ ਦੀ ਧੀ ਦੀਏ ਕੰਧੇ, ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਤੇਰੇ ਹੰਝੂ ਨਦੀ ਦੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਗਦੇ ਰਹਿਣ! ਤੂੰ ਅਰਾਮ ਨਾ ਕਰ, ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਪੁਤਲੀ ਨੂੰ ਚੈਨ ਨਾ ਲੈਣ ਦੇ। BSB BSB: The hearts of the people cry out to the Lord. O wall of the Daughter of Zion, let your tears run down like a river day and night. Give yourself no relief, and your eyes no rest.
19 ULB ਉੱਠ! ਰਾਤ ਦੇ ਹਰੇਕ ਪਹਿਰ ਦੇ ਅਰੰਭ ਵਿੱਚ ਚਿੱਲਾ! ਆਪਣਾ ਦਿਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਡੋਲ੍ਹ ਦੇ, ਆਪਣੇ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਜਾਨ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਵੱਲ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੱਥਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਫੈਲਾ, ਜਿਹੜੇ ਭੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਾਰੇ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਗਲੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਸਿਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਬੇਸੁਰਤ ਪਏ ਹਨ। BSB BSB: Arise, cry out in the night from the first watch of the night. Pour out your heart like water in the presence of the Lord. Lift up your hands to Him for the lives of your children who are fainting from hunger on the corner of every street.
21 ULB ਜੁਆਨ ਅਤੇ ਬੁੱਢੇ ਗਲੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਉੱਤੇ ਪਏ ਹਨ, ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਕੁਆਰੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਜੁਆਨ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਡਿੱਗ ਪਏ। ਤੂੰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਘਾਤ ਕੀਤਾ, ਤੂੰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਢ ਸੁੱਟਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਤਰਸ ਨਾ ਖਾਧਾ! BSB BSB: Both young and old lie together in the dust of the streets. My young men and maidens have fallen by the sword. You have slain them in the day of Your anger; You have slaughtered them without compassion.
22 ULB ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਭੈ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ, ਪਰਬ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਦੇ ਸਮਾਨ ਆਲੇ-ਦੁਆਲੇ ਤੋਂ ਬੁਲਾਇਆ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਾ ਤਾਂ ਕੋਈ ਬੱਚ ਸਕਿਆ ਤੇ ਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਬਾਕੀ ਰਿਹਾ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਂ ਪਾਲਿਆ ਪੋਸਿਆ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਵੈਰੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਮੁਕਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। BSB BSB: You summoned my terrors on every side, as for the day of an appointed feast. In the day of the LORD’s anger no one escaped or survived; my enemy has destroyed those I nurtured and reared.
