4 ULB ਉਹ ਭਾਰੇ ਬੋਝ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਚੁੱਕਣਾ ਔਖਾ ਹੈ, ਬੰਨ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਿਆਂ ਮੋਢਿਆਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਆਪ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਂਗਲ ਨਾਲ ਖਿਸਕਾਉਣਾ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ। BSB BSB: They tie up heavy, burdensome loads and lay them on men’s shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them.

8 ULB ਪਰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾ ਅਖਵਾਓ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਇੱਕੋ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਭਾਈ ਹੋ। BSB BSB: But you are not to be called ‘Rabbi,’ for you have one Teacher, and you are all brothers.

10 ULB ਅਤੇ ਨਾ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮਾਲਕ ਅਖਵਾਓ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਇੱਕੋ ਹੈ ਅਰਥਾਤ ਮਸੀਹ। BSB BSB: Nor are you to be called instructors, for you have one Instructor, the Christ.
11 ULB ਪਰ ਉਹ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਸੇਵਾਦਾਰ ਹੋਵੇ। BSB BSB: The greatest among you shall be your servant.

14 ULB ਕਪਟੀ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ਕੋ ਅਤੇ ਫ਼ਰੀਸੀਓ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਹਾਏ! ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਵਿਖਾਵੇ ਲਈ ਲੰਮੀਆਂ ਲੰਮੀਆਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋ, ਪਰ ਵਿਧਵਾਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਨੂੰ ਲੁੱਟ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹੋ। ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਵੱਡੀ ਸਜ਼ਾ ਮਿਲੇਗੀ। BSB BSB: Not in the BSB

You traverse land and sea to win a single convert, and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of hell as you are.
16 ULB ਹੇ ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਆਗੂਓ, ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਹਾਏ! ਜਿਹੜੇ ਆਖਦੇ ਹੋ ਕਿ ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਹੈਕਲ ਦੀ ਸਹੁੰ ਖਾਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਕੁੱਝ ਗੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਰ ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਹੈਕਲ ਦੇ ਸੋਨੇ ਦੀ ਸਹੁੰ ਖਾਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਪੂਰੀ ਕਰਨੀ ਪਵੇਗੀ। BSB BSB: Woe to you, blind guides! You say, ‘If anyone swears by the temple, it means nothing; but if anyone swears by the gold of the temple, he is bound by his oath.’
17 ULB ਹੇ ਮੂਰਖੋ ਅਤੇ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਿਓ ਕਿਹੜਾ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੈ ਸੋਨਾ ਜਾਂ ਹੈਕਲ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਸੋਨੇ ਨੂੰ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ? BSB BSB: You blind fools! Which is greater: the gold, or the temple that makes it sacred?

19 ULB ਹੇ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਿਓ ਕਿਹੜੀ ਵੱਡੀ ਹੈ ਭੇਂਟ ਜਾਂ ਜਗਵੇਦੀ, ਜਿਹੜੀ ਭੇਟ ਨੂੰ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ? BSB BSB: You blind men! Which is greater: the gift, or the altar that makes it sacred?

22 ULB ਅਤੇ ਜੋ ਕੋਈ ਸਵਰਗ ਦੀ ਸਹੁੰ ਖਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸੋ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਸਿੰਘਾਸਣ ਦੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਉੱਪਰ ਬੈਠਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਦੀ ਸਹੁੰ ਖਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। BSB BSB: And he who swears by heaven swears by God’s throne and by the One who sits on it.
23 ULB ਹੇ ਕਪਟੀ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ਕੋ ਅਤੇ ਫ਼ਰੀਸੀਓ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਹਾਏ! ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਪੂਦੀਨੇ, ਸੌਂਫ਼ ਅਤੇ ਜੀਰੇ ਦਾ ਦਸਵੰਧ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹੋ, ਪਰ ਮੂਸਾ ਦੀ ਬਿਵਸਥਾ ਵੱਡੇ ਹੁਕਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਰਥਾਤ ਨਿਆਂ, ਦਯਾ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। ਪਰ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਸੀ ਜੋ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਰਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਨਾ ਛੱਡਦੇ। BSB BSB: Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former. 24 ULB ਹੇ ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਆਗੂਓ, ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮੱਛਰ ਪੁਣ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਊਠ ਨਿਗਲ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹੋ! BSB BSB: You blind guides! You strain out a gnat but swallow a camel.
25 ULB ਹੇ ਕਪਟੀ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ਕੋ ਅਤੇ ਫ਼ਰੀਸੀਓ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਹਾਏ! ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕਟੋਰੇ ਅਤੇ ਥਾਲੀ ਨੂੰ ਬਾਹਰੋਂ ਸਾਫ਼ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋ ਪਰ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਉਹ ਲੁੱਟ ਅਤੇ ਬਦ-ਪਰਹੇਜ਼ੀ ਨਾਲ ਭਰੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ। BSB BSB: Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence.
26 ULB ਹੇ ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਫ਼ਰੀਸੀਓ! ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਕਟੋਰੇ ਅਤੇ ਥਾਲੀ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਫ਼ ਕਰੋ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਬਾਹਰੋਂ ਵੀ ਸਾਫ਼ ਹੋਣਗੇ। BSB BSB: Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and dish, so that the outside may become clean as well.
28 ULB ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਵੀ ਬਾਹਰੋਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਧਰਮੀ ਵਿਖਾਈ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹੋ ਪਰ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਕਪਟ ਅਤੇ ਕੁਧਰਮ ਨਾਲ ਭਰੇ ਹੋਏ ਹੋ। BSB BSB: In the same way, on the outside you appear to be righteous, but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness.
29 ULB ਹੇ ਕਪਟੀ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ਕੋ ਅਤੇ ਫ਼ਰੀਸੀਓ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਹਾਏ! ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਨਬੀਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਕਬਰਾਂ ਬਣਾਉਂਦੇ ਹੋ ਅਤੇ ਧਰਮੀਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਮਾਧਾਂ ਸੁਆਰਦੇ ਹੋ। BSB BSB: Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You build tombs for the prophets and decorate the monuments of the righteous.
30 ULB ਅਤੇ ਆਖਦੇ ਹੋ ਜੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਉ-ਦਾਦਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਤਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਨਬੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਖੂਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਾਂਝੀ ਨਾ ਹੁੰਦੇ। BSB BSB: And you say, ‘If we had lived in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partners with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.’
31 ULB ਸੋ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਗਵਾਹੀ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹੋ ਜੋ ਅਸੀਂ ਨਬੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ੂਨੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਹਾਂ। BSB BSB: So you testify against yourselves that you are the sons of those who murdered the prophets.
32 ULB ਸੋ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਉ-ਦਾਦਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਪਾਪ ਦੇ ਘੜੇ ਨੂੰ ਭਰੀ ਜਾਓ। BSB BSB: Fill up, then, the measure of the sin of your fathers.
33 ULB ਹੇ ਸੱਪੋ, ਹੇ ਨਾਗਾਂ ਦੇ ਬੱਚਿਓ! ਤੁਸੀਂ ਨਰਕ ਦੀ ਸਜ਼ਾ ਤੋਂ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਬਚੋਗੇ? BSB BSB: You snakes! You brood of vipers! How will you escape the sentence of hell?
34 ULB ਇਸ ਲਈ ਵੇਖੋ ਮੈਂ ਨਬੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਗਿਆਨੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਕੋਲ ਭੇਜਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕਈਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਸੁੱਟੋਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਸਲੀਬ ਉੱਤੇ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਓਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਕਈਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾ ਘਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੋਰੜੇ ਮਾਰੋਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਗਰ ਪਓਗੇ। BSB BSB: Because of this, I am sending you prophets and wise men and teachers. Some of them you will kill and crucify, and others you will flog in your synagogues and persecute from town to town.
35 ULB ਤਾਂ ਕਿ ਧਰਮੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਜਿੰਨਾਂ ਲਹੂ ਧਰਤੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਵਹਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਸੱਭੋ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਜੁੰਮੇ ਆਵੇ, ਹਾਬਲ ਧਰਮੀ ਦੇ ਲਹੂ ਤੋਂ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਬਕਰਯਾਹ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਜ਼ਕਰਯਾਹ ਦੇ ਲਹੂ ਤੱਕ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਸਥਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਜਗਵੇਦੀ ਦੇ ਵਿਚਕਾਰ ਮਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। BSB BSB: And so upon you will come all the righteous blood shed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah son of Berechiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar.
36 ULB ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਸੱਚ ਆਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਇਹ ਸਭ ਕੁੱਝ ਇਸ ਪੀੜ੍ਹੀ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਜੁੰਮੇ ਆਵੇਗਾ। BSB BSB: Truly I tell you, all these things will come upon this generation.
37 ULB ਹੇ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ, ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ! ਤੂੰ ਜੋ ਨਬੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਤਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਭੇਜੇ ਗਏ ਪਥਰਾਉ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਮੈਂ ਕਿੰਨੀ ਵਾਰੀ ਚਾਹਿਆ ਜੋ ਤੇਰੇ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਕਰਾਂ ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਮੁਰਗੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਖੰਭਾਂ ਦੇ ਹੇਠ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਨਾ ਚਾਹਿਆ। BSB BSB: O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those sent to her, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were unwilling!
38 ULB ਵੇਖੋ ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਘਰ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਲਈ ਉਜਾੜ ਛੱਡਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। BSB BSB: Look, your house is left to you desolate.
