1 ULB Vós não sacrificareis a Yahweh, vosso Deus, um boi ou uma ovelha que tenha qualquer mancha ou defeito, pois isso seria abominação para Yahweh, vosso Deus. BSB BSB: You shall not sacrifice to the LORD your God an ox or a sheep with any defect or serious flaw, for that is detestable to the LORD your God.
2 ULB Se for encontrado, no meio de vós, dentro de qualquer um dos portões da cidade que Yahweh, vosso Deus, vós dá, qualquer homem ou mulher que faça o que é mal à vista de Yahweh, vosso Deus, quebrando a Sua aliança, BSB BSB: If a man or woman among you in one of the towns that the LORD your God gives you is found doing evil in the sight of the LORD your God by transgressing His covenant
3 ULB qualquer um que tenha ido e adorado outros deuses e se prostrado a eles, mesmo ao sol, à lua, ou a qualquer um dos astros do céu, nada do que eu tenho ordenado, BSB BSB: and going to worship other gods, bowing down to them or to the sun or moon or any of the host of heaven—which I have forbidden—
4 ULB e, se alguém vos falar sobre isso, ou, se ouvirdes sobre isso, então, fareis uma investigação cuidadosa. Se for verdade e estiverdes certos de que tal coisa detestável foi feita em Israel, eis o que fareis. BSB BSB: and if it is reported and you hear about it, you must investigate it thoroughly. If the report is true and such an abomination has happened in Israel,
5 ULB Trareis o homem ou a mulher que tiver cometido tal maldade para os portões da vossa cidade, esse mesmo homem ou essa mesma mulher, e apedrejai essa pessoa até a morte. BSB BSB: you must bring out to your gates the man or woman who has done this evil thing, and you must stone that person to death.
6 ULB Pela palavra de duas ou três testemunhas, essa pessoa será condenada à morte; mas não será condenada pela palavra de apenas uma testemunha. BSB BSB: On the testimony of two or three witnesses a man shall be put to death, but he shall not be executed on the testimony of a lone witness.
7 ULB A mão das testemunhas deve ser a primeira a condenar a pessoa à morte, e, a seguir, a mão de todo o povo; e vós removereis o mal do vosso meio. BSB BSB: The hands of the witnesses shall be the first in putting him to death, and after that, the hands of all the people. So you must purge the evil from among you.
8 ULB Se surgir um assunto que seja muito difícil para vós julgardes, talvez uma questão de assassinato ou morte acidental, sobre o direito de uma pessoa ou o direito de outra pessoa, ou uma questão sobre algum tipo de dano feito, ou outro tipo de assunto, questões polêmicas no interior dos portões da vossa cidade, então, vós devereis ir ao lugar que Yahweh, vosso Deus, escolherá como Seu santuário. BSB BSB: If a case is too difficult for you to judge, whether the controversy within your gates is regarding bloodshed, lawsuits, or assaults, you must go up to the place the LORD your God will choose.
9 ULB Ide aos sacerdotes, os descendentes de Levi, e ao juiz que estiver trabalhando nesse período; buscai o conselho deles, e eles vos darão o veredito. BSB BSB: You are to go to the Levitical priests and to the judge who presides at that time. Inquire of them, and they will give you a verdict in the case.
10 ULB Seguireis a lei que vos foi dada, no lugar que Yahweh escolherá como Seu santuário. Vós sereis cuidadosos em fazer tudo o que eles vos direcionarem a fazer. BSB BSB: You must abide by the verdict they give you at the place the LORD will choose. Be careful to do everything they instruct you,
11 ULB Segui a lei que eles vos ensinarem, e façai de acordo com as decisões que eles vos informarem. Não vos afasteis do que eles vos disserem, nem para a direita nem para a esquerda. BSB BSB: according to the terms of law they give and the verdict they proclaim. Do not turn aside to the right or to the left from the decision they declare to you.
12 ULB Qualquer um que agir arrogantemente, não ouvindo o sacerdote que está servindo diante de Yahweh, vosso Deus, ou não ouvindo o juiz, esse homem morrerá; vós eliminareis o mal do meio de Israel. BSB BSB: But the man who acts presumptuously, refusing to listen either to the priest who stands there to serve the LORD your God, or to the judge, must be put to death. You must purge the evil from Israel.
13 ULB Todo o povo deve ouvir e temer, e não mais agir arrogantemente. BSB BSB: Then all the people will hear and be afraid, and will no longer behave arrogantly.
14 ULB Quando vós chegardes à terra que Yahweh, vosso Deus, vos dá, e, quando vós tomardes posse dela e começardes a viver nela, e disserdes: 'Designarei um rei sobre mim, como todas as outras nações que estão ao redor de mim', BSB BSB: When you enter the land that the LORD your God is giving you and have taken possession of it and settled in it, and you say, “Let us set a king over us like all the nations around us,”
16 ULB Mas ele não poderá multiplicar cavalos para si, nem fazer o povo retornar ao Egito para que ele multiplique seus cavalos, pois Yahweh vos disse: 'Vós, de agora em diante, jamais retornareis por esse caminho'. BSB BSB: But the king must not acquire many horses for himself or send the people back to Egypt to acquire more horses, for the LORD has said, ‘You are never to go back that way again.’
17 ULB E ele não multiplicará esposas para si, para que seu coração não se desvie de Yahweh; nem acumulará para si grande quantidade de prata e ouro. BSB BSB: He must not take many wives for himself, lest his heart go astray. He must not accumulate for himself large amounts of silver and gold.
18 ULB Quando se assentar sobre o trono do seu reino, ele deve escrever para si, em um livro, uma cópia desta lei, que está diante dos sacerdotes, que são levitas. BSB BSB: When he is seated on his royal throne, he must write for himself a copy of this instruction on a scroll in the presence of the Levitical priests.
19 ULB O livro estará com ele, e ele o lerá todos os dias da sua vida, para aprender a honrar Yahweh, seu Deus, assim como guardar todas as palavras desta lei e estes estatutos, para os cumprir. BSB BSB: It is to remain with him, and he is to read from it all the days of his life, so that he may learn to fear the LORD his God by carefully observing all the words of this instruction and these statutes.
20 ULB Ele fará isso e, assim, seu coração não se exaltará sobre o de seus irmãos, e ele não se desviará dos mandamentos, nem para a direita, nem para a esquerda. Assim, prolongará os dias do seu reinado, dele e de seus filhos, no meio de Israel. BSB BSB: Then his heart will not be exalted above his countrymen, and he will not turn aside from the commandment, to the right or to the left, in order that he and his sons may reign many years over his kingdom in Israel.
