1 GLT And Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, BSB BSB: Then the LORD said to Moses,
2 GLT “Speak to Aaron and to his sons, and to all the sons of Israel; and say to them this thing that Yahweh has commanded, saying, BSB BSB: “Speak to Aaron, his sons, and all the Israelites and tell them this is what the LORD has commanded:
3 GLT ‘Any man from the house of Israel who slaughters an ox, or a lamb, or a goat in the camp, or who slaughters it outside of the camp, BSB BSB: ‘Anyone from the house of Israel who slaughters an ox, a lamb, or a goat in the camp or outside of it
4 GLT but he does not bring it to the entrance of the tent of meeting to offer as an offering to Yahweh before the face of the dwelling of Yahweh— blood is reckoned to that man. He has shed blood, and that man must be cut off from among his people. BSB BSB: instead of bringing it to the entrance to the Tent of Meeting to present it as an offering to the LORD before His tabernacle—that man shall incur bloodguilt. He has shed blood and must be cut off from among his people.
5 GLT This is so that the sons of Israel will bring their sacrifices that they are sacrificing on the face of the field and bring them to Yahweh at the entrance of the tent of meeting, to the priest, and sacrifice the sacrifices of peace offerings to Yahweh with them. BSB BSB: For this reason the Israelites will bring to the LORD the sacrifices they have been offering in the open fields. They are to bring them to the priest at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting and offer them as sacrifices of peace offerings to the LORD.
6 GLT And the priest will sprinkle the blood on the altar of Yahweh at the entrance of the tent of meeting. And he will burn the fat for a sweet aroma for Yahweh. BSB BSB: The priest will then splatter the blood on the altar of the LORD at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting and burn the fat as a pleasing aroma to the LORD.
7 GLT And they must no longer sacrifice their sacrifices to goat idols, whom they prostitute themselves after. This will be a permanent statute for them throughout their generations.’ BSB BSB: They must no longer offer their sacrifices to the goat demons to which they have prostituted themselves. This will be a permanent statute for them for the generations to come.’
8 GLT And you must say to them,‘Any man from the house of Israel, or from the sojourners who sojourn among them, who offers a burnt offering or sacrifice BSB BSB: Tell them that if anyone from the house of Israel or any foreigner living among them offers a burnt offering or a sacrifice
9 GLT and does not bring it to the entrance of the tent of meeting in order to offer it to Yahweh, that man must be cut off from his people. BSB BSB: but does not bring it to the entrance to the Tent of Meeting to sacrifice it to the LORD, that man must be cut off from his people.
10 GLT And any man from the house of Israel, or from the sojourners sojourning among them, who eats any blood, I will set my face against that person who eats the blood and I will cut him off from among his people. BSB BSB: If anyone from the house of Israel or a foreigner living among them eats any blood, I will set My face against that person and cut him off from among his people.
11 GLT For the life of the flesh is in its blood, and I have given it to you on the altar to make atonement for your lives. For it is the blood with the life that atones. BSB BSB: For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you to make atonement for your souls upon the altar; for it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul.
12 GLT Therefore I said to the sons of Israel every person among you must not eat blood. And the sojourner who sojourns among you must not eat blood. BSB BSB: Therefore I say to the Israelites, ‘None of you may eat blood, nor may any foreigner living among you eat blood.’
13 GLT And any man from the sons of Israel, or from the sojourners sojourning among them, who hunts a wild game animal or bird that may be eaten, must pour out its blood and cover it with dirt. BSB BSB: And if any Israelite or foreigner living among them hunts down a wild animal or bird that may be eaten, he must drain its blood and cover it with dirt.
14 GLT For the life of all flesh is its blood, it is with its life. And I have said to the sons of Israel,“You must not eat the blood of any flesh. For the life of all flesh— it is its blood. All who eat it must be cut off.” BSB BSB: For the life of all flesh is its blood. Therefore I have told the Israelites, ‘You must not eat the blood of any living thing, because the life of all flesh is its blood; whoever eats it must be cut off.’
15 GLT And any person who eats an animal that has died or that has been torn by wild animals, among the native born or among the sojourners, he must wash his clothes and bathe in water, and he will be unclean until the evening. And he will be clean. BSB BSB: And any person, whether native or foreigner, who eats anything found dead or mauled by wild beasts must wash his clothes and bathe with water, and he will be unclean until evening; then he will be clean.
16 GLT And if he does not wash or his body he does not bathe, then he must carry his iniquity.’” BSB BSB: But if he does not wash his clothes and bathe himself, then he shall bear his iniquity.”
