1В пятнадцатый же год правления кесаря Тиверия, при управляющем Иудеей Понтии Пилате и четвертовластнике Галилеи Ироде, а также его брате Филиппе— четвертовластнике Итуреи и Трахонитской области и Лисании— четвертовластнике Авилинеи,In the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, while Pontius Pilate was governor of Judea, Herod tetrarch of Galilee, his brother Philip tetrarch of Ituraea and Trachonitis, and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene,

2при первосвященниках Анне и Каиафе, в пустыне было слово Бога к Иоанну, сыну Захарии.during the high priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, the word of God came to John son of Zechariah in the wilderness.

3И прошёл по всем окрестностям Иорданским, проповедуя крещение покаяния для прощения грехов.He went into all the region around the Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins,

4Как написано в книге слов пророка Исаии:“Голос взывающего в пустыне:" Приготовьте путь Господу, сделайте прямыми Ему дороги.as it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet: “A voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for Him.

5Всякая впадина наполнится, и всякая гора и холм понизятся, и кривизна обратится в ровность, а колдобины в гладкие пути.Every valley shall be filled in, and every mountain and hill made low. The crooked ways shall be made straight, and the rough ways smooth.

6И всякая плоть увидит Божье спасение"”.And all humanity will see God’s salvation.’”

7Итак, говорил народу, приходившему креститься от него:“Змеиное отродье! Кто указал вам бежать от будущего гнева?Then John said to the crowds coming out to be baptized by him, “You brood of vipers, who warned you to flee from the coming wrath?

8Сотворите же плоды, достойные покаяния, и не начинайте говорить в себе:" Имеем отца Авраама". Ведь говорю вам, что Бог может из этих камней поднять детей Аврааму.Produce fruit, then, in keeping with repentance. And do not begin to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham.

9Вот уже и топор возле корня деревьев лежит; итак, всякое дерево, не приносящее хороший плод, срубают и бросают в огонь”.The axe lies ready at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.”

10И народ спрашивал его, говоря:“Что же нам делать?”The crowds asked him, “What then should we do?”

11Отвечая же говорил им:“Кто имеет две одежды, отдай не имеющему, и кто имеет пищу, делай то же”.John replied, “Whoever has two tunics should share with him who has none, and whoever has food should do the same.”

12Также пришли креститься и сборщики налогов, и сказали ему:“Учитель! Что нам делать?”Even tax collectors came to be baptized. “Teacher,” they asked, “what should we do?”

13Он же сказал им:“Не требуйте ничего более положенного вам”.“Collect no more than you are authorized,” he answered.

14Спрашивали его также и воины, говоря:“А нам что делать?” И сказал им:“Никого не притесняйте, не клевещите и довольствуйтесь вашим жалованьем”.Then some soldiers asked him, “And what should we do?” “Do not take money by force or false accusation,” he said. “Be content with your wages.”

15А ожидающему народу и всем, помышляющим в своих сердцах об Иоанне:“Может он есть Христос?”,The people were waiting expectantly and were all wondering in their hearts if John could be the Christ.

16Иоанн отвечал, говоря всем:“Вот, я крещу вас водой, но идёт Сильнейший меня, у Которого я недостоин развязать ремень Его сандалии. Он будет крестить вас в Святом Духе и огне.John answered all of them: “I baptize you with water, but One more powerful than I will come, the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.

17Его лопата в Его руке, чтобы очистить Своё гумно и собрать пшеницу в Своё хранилище, а солому сжечь неугасимым огнём”.His winnowing fork is in His hand to clear His threshing floor and to gather the wheat into His barn; but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.”

18Таким образом, многое и другое благовествовал, увещевая народ.With these and many other exhortations, John proclaimed the good news to the people.

19А четвертовластник Ирод, обличаемый им за Иродиаду, жену своего брата, и за всё, что сделал Ирод плохого,But when he rebuked Herod the tetrarch regarding his brother’s wife Herodias and all the evils he had done,

20добавил ко всему и это— заключил Иоанна в тюрьму.Herod added this to them all: He locked John up in prison.

21И было, при крещении всего народа, когда и Иисус, крестившись, молился, открылось небо,When all the people were being baptized, Jesus was baptized too. And as He was praying, heaven was opened,

22и сошёл на Него Святой Дух в телесном виде, как голубь, и был голос с неба:“Ты есть Мой Любимый Сын, в Тебе благоволение!”and the Holy Spirit descended on Him in a bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: “You are My beloved Son; in You I am well pleased.”

23И был Иисус при своём начинании около тридцати лет. Он был, как думали, Сын Иосифа, Илия,Jesus Himself was about thirty years old when He began His ministry. He was regarded as the son of Joseph, the son of Heli,

24Матфата, Левия, Мелхия, Ианная, Иосифа,the son of Matthat, the son of Levi, the son of Melchi, the son of Jannai, the son of Joseph,

25Маттафии, Амоса, Наума, Еслима, Наггея,the son of Mattathias, the son of Amos, the son of Nahum, the son of Esli, the son of Naggai,

26Маафа, Маттафии, Семея, Иосифа, Иуды,the son of Maath, the son of Mattathias, the son of Semein, the son of Josech, the son of Joda,

27Иоаннана, Рисая, Зоровавеля, Салафииля, Нирия,the son of Joanan, the son of Rhesa, the son of Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, the son of Neri,

28Мелхия, Аддия, Косама, Елмодама, Ира,the son of Melchi, the son of Addi, the son of Cosam, the son of Elmadam, the son of Er,

29Иосии, Елиезера, Иорима, Матфата, Левия,the son of Joshua, the son of Eliezer, the son of Jorim, the son of Matthat, the son of Levi,

30Симеона, Иуды, Иосифа, Ионана, Елиакима,the son of Simeon, the son of Judah, the son of Joseph, the son of Jonam, the son of Eliakim,
