GLT For with the judgment you judge, you will be judged, and with the measure you measure, it will be measured to you. BSB BSB: For with the same judgment you pronounce, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
GLT Now why do you look at the speck of wood in the eye of your brother, but you do not notice the log in your eye? BSB BSB: Why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye but fail to notice the beam in your own eye?
GLT Or how will you say to your brother,‘Let me take out the speck of wood from your eye,’ while behold, the log{ is} in your eye? BSB BSB: How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ while there is still a beam in your own eye?
GLT You hypocrite! First take out the log from your eye, and then you will see clearly to take out the speck of wood from the eye of your brother. BSB BSB: You hypocrite! First take the beam out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.
GLT You should neither give the holy to the dogs, nor should you throw your pearls in front of the pigs. Otherwise they will trample them under their feet, and having turned, tear you to pieces. BSB BSB: Do not give dogs what is holy; do not throw your pearls before swine. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and then turn and tear you to pieces.
GLT Ask, and it will be given to you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and it will be opened to you. BSB BSB: Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.
GLT For everyone asking, receives; and the one seeking, finds; and to the one knocking, it will be opened. BSB BSB: For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.
GLT Or what man is there from among you, of whom his son will ask for bread— he will not give him a stone, will he? BSB BSB: Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone?
GLT Or he will also ask for a fish— he will not give him a snake, will he? BSB BSB: Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake?
GLT Therefore, if you, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in the heavens give good things to the ones asking him? BSB BSB: So if you who are evil know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!
GLT Therefore, all things in as much as you desire that men do to you, in this manner also, you do to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets. BSB BSB: In everything, then, do to others as you would have them do to you. For this is the essence of the Law and the Prophets.
GLT Enter through the narrow gate. For wide{ is} the gate and broad{ is} the road that is leading to destruction, and there are many entering through it. BSB BSB: Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.
GLT For the gate{ is} narrow and the way has been made narrow that is leading to life, and there are few finding it. BSB BSB: But small is the gate and narrow the way that leads to life, and only a few find it.
GLT Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep’ s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. BSB BSB: Beware of false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.
GLT In the same way, every good tree produces good fruit, but the bad tree produces bad fruit. BSB BSB: Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.
GLT A good tree is not able to produce bad fruit, nor a bad tree to produce good fruit. BSB BSB: A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit.
GLT Every tree not producing good fruit is cut down and thrown into a fire. BSB BSB: Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
GLT So then, you will recognize them from their fruits. BSB BSB: So then, by their fruit you will recognize them.
GLT Many will say to me in that day,‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name cast out demons, and in your name do many mighty deeds?’ BSB BSB: Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’
GLT And then I will pubicly declare to them,‘I never knew you! Go away from me, the ones practicing lawlessness!’ BSB BSB: Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you workers of lawlessness!’
GLT Therefore, everyone who hears these words of mine and does them will be compared to a wise man who built his house upon the rock. BSB BSB: Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.
GLT And the rain came down, and the floods came, and the winds blew and struck against that house, but it did not fall down, for it had been founded on the rock. BSB BSB: The rain fell, the torrents raged, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because its foundation was on the rock.
GLT But everyone hearing these words of mine and not doing them will be compared to a foolish man who built his house upon the sand. BSB BSB: But everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not act on them is like a foolish man who built his house on sand.
GLT And the rain came down, and the floods came, and the winds blew and struck against that house, and it fell, and its destruction was great.” BSB BSB: The rain fell, the torrents raged, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell—and great was its collapse!”
GLT And it happened that when Jesus finished speaking these words, the crowds were astonished by his teaching, BSB BSB: When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were astonished at His teaching,
GLT for he was teaching them as having authority, and not as their scribes. BSB BSB: because He taught as one who had authority, and not as their scribes.
