1Дина, дочь Лии, которую она родила Иакову, вышла посмотреть на девушек той земли.Now Dinah, the daughter Leah had borne to Jacob, went out to visit the daughters of the land.

2Её увидел Сихем, сын евеянина Еммора, правителя той земли, схватил её и изнасиловал.When Shechem son of Hamor the Hivite, the prince of the region, saw her, he took her and lay with her by force.

3Его душа прилепилась к Дине, дочери Иакова, он полюбил её и ласково разговаривал с ней.And his soul was drawn to Dinah, the daughter of Jacob. He loved the young girl and spoke to her tenderly.

4Сихем сказал своему отцу Еммору:«Возьми мне эту девушку в жёны».So Shechem told his father Hamor, “Get me this girl as a wife.”

5Иаков услышал, что сын Еммора обесчестил его дочь Дину, но так как его сыновья были в поле с его скотом, Иаков молчал, пока они не вернулись.Jacob heard that Shechem had defiled his daughter Dinah, but since his sons were with his livestock in the field, he remained silent about it until they returned.

6Еммор, отец Сихема, пришёл к Иакову, чтобы поговорить с ним.Meanwhile, Shechem’s father Hamor came to speak with Jacob.

7Сыновья Иакова вернулись с поля, и когда они узнали, что произошло, они огорчились и сильно разгневались, потому что Сихем сделал бесчестие Израилю, когда изнасиловал его дочь, а это недопустимо.When Jacob’s sons heard what had happened, they returned from the field. They were filled with grief and fury, because Shechem had committed an outrage in Israel by lying with Jacob’s daughter—a thing that should not be done.

8Еммор начал говорить им:«Мой сын Сихем душой прилепился к вашей дочери. Отдайте её ему в жёны.But Hamor said to them, “My son Shechem longs for your daughter. Please give her to him as his wife.

9Породнитесь с нами: отдавайте нам ваших дочерей, а наших дочерей берите себе.Intermarry with us; give us your daughters and take our daughters for yourselves.

10Живите с нами на этой просторной земле, которая перед вами, торгуйте, заселяйте её и приобретайте её в собственность».You may settle among us, and the land will be open to you. Live here, move about freely, and acquire your own property.”

11Сихем сказал отцу и братьям Дины:«Мне бы только найти ваше расположение, и я отдам вам всё, что вы скажете.Then Shechem said to Dinah’s father and brothers, “Grant me this favor, and I will give you whatever you ask.

12Назначьте самый большой выкуп и дары, я дам вам всё, что скажете, только отдайте мне её в жёны».Demand a high dowry and an expensive gift, and I will give you whatever you ask. Only give me the girl as my wife!”

13На это сыновья Иакова ответили Сихему и его отцу Еммору хитростью, потому что он обесчестил их сестру Дину.But because Shechem had defiled their sister Dinah, Jacob’s sons answered him and his father Hamor deceitfully.

14Они сказали:«Мы не можем выдать нашу сестру за человека, который не обрезан. Это позор для нас.“We cannot do such a thing,” they said. “To give our sister to an uncircumcised man would be a disgrace to us.

15Мы согласимся с вами только на том условии, если вы станете как мы, и у вас будет обрезан весь мужской пол.We will consent to this on one condition, that you become circumcised like us—every one of your males.

16Тогда мы будем отдавать за вас наших дочерей, и брать ваших дочерей за себя. Мы поселимся среди вас и будем одним народом.Then we will give you our daughters and take your daughters for ourselves. We will dwell among you and become one people.

17А если не послушаетесь нас и не сделаете обрезание, то мы возьмём нашу сестру и уйдём».But if you will not agree to be circumcised, then we will take our sister and go.”

18Эти слова понравились Еммору и его сыну Сихему.Their offer seemed good to Hamor and his son Shechem.

19Молодой человек не замедлил это исполнить, потому что любил дочь Иакова. Сихем был самым уважаемым в доме своего отца.The young man, who was the most respected of all his father’s household, did not hesitate to fulfill this request, because he was delighted with Jacob’s daughter.

20Еммор и его сын Сихем пришли к воротам города и стали говорить жителям своего города:So Hamor and his son Shechem went to the gate of their city and addressed the men of their city:

21«Эти люди миролюбивы по отношению к нам. Пусть они селятся на земле, торгуют на ней, земли хватит для всех. Мы будем брать их дочерей себе в жёны и выдавать наших дочерей за них.“These men are at peace with us. Let them live and trade in our land; indeed, it is large enough for them. Let us take their daughters in marriage and give our daughters to them.

22Только на том условии они согласятся поселиться среди нас и стать с нами одним народом, если у нас будет обрезан весь мужской пол, как у них.But only on this condition will the men agree to dwell with us and be one people: if all our men are circumcised as they are.

23Разве не для нас их стада, имущество и весь их скот? Если согласимся с ними, они поселятся среди нас».Will not their livestock, their possessions, and all their animals become ours? Only let us consent to them, and they will dwell among us.”

24Все выходящие из городских ворот послушались Еммора и его сына Сихема, и каждый мужчина в городе был обрезан.All the men who went out of the city gate listened to Hamor and his son Shechem, and every male of the city was circumcised.

25На третий день, когда они страдали от боли, два сына Иакова, Симеон и Левий, братья Дины, взяли свои мечи, внезапно напали на город и убили всех мужчин.Three days later, while they were still in pain, two of Jacob’s sons (Dinah’s brothers Simeon and Levi) took their swords, went into the unsuspecting city, and slaughtered every male.

26Они убили мечом Еммора и его сына Сихема. Забрали Дину из дома Сихема и ушли.They killed Hamor and his son Shechem with their swords, took Dinah out of Shechem’s house, and went away.

27Сыновья Иакова вошли к убитым и разграбили город, в котором обесчестили их сестру.Jacob’s other sons came upon the slaughter and looted the city, because their sister had been defiled.

28Они забрали их мелкий и крупный скот, ослов и всё, что было в городе и в поле,They took their flocks and herds and donkeys, and everything else in the city or in the field.

29и всё их богатство. Они взяли в плен всех детей и женщин и разграбили всё, что было в домах.They carried off all their possessions and women and children, and they plundered everything in their houses.

30Иаков сказал Симеону и Левию:«Вы навели на меня беду, сделав ненавистным для жителей этой земли, хананеев и ферезеев. У меня мало людей, и если они объединятся против меня, то убьют меня, уничтожат меня и мой дом».Then Jacob said to Simeon and Levi, “You have brought trouble upon me by making me a stench to the Canaanites and Perizzites, the people of this land. We are few in number; if they unite against me and attack me, I and my household will be destroyed.”

31Но они отвечали:«А разве можно поступать с нашей сестрой, как с проституткой?!»But they replied, “Should he have treated our sister like a prostitute?”
