1И отвечал Иов:Then Job answered:

2«Выслушайте внимательно мою речь, это будет мне утешением от вас.“Listen carefully to my words; let this be your consolation to me.

3Потерпите меня, пока я буду говорить, а после того как поговорю, насмехайтесь.Bear with me while I speak; then, after I have spoken, you may go on mocking.

4Разве к человеку моя речь? Как же мне не потерять терпение?Is my complaint against a man? Then why should I not be impatient?

5Посмотрите на меня и ужаснитесь, положите палец на свои губы.Look at me and be appalled; put your hand over your mouth.

6Как только вспомню, дрожу, трепет охватывает моё тело.When I remember, terror takes hold, and my body trembles in horror.

7Почему беззаконные живут, достигают старости, да и силой крепки?Why do the wicked live on, growing old and increasing in power?

8Их дети перед их лицом и внуки перед их глазами.Their descendants are established around them, and their offspring before their eyes.

9Их дома безопасны, без страха, на них нет Божьего жезла.Their homes are safe from fear; no rod of punishment from God is upon them.

10Их бык покрывает и оплодотворяет, коровы зачинают и не выкидывают.Their bulls breed without fail; their cows bear calves and do not miscarry.

11Как стадо, они выпускают своих малюток, и их дети прыгают.They send forth their little ones like a flock; their children skip about,

12Поют под звуки бубна, арфы и веселятся при звуках флейты.singing to the tambourine and lyre and making merry at the sound of the flute.

13Проводят свои дни в счастье и мгновенно сходят в преисподнюю.They spend their days in prosperity and go down to Sheol in peace.

14А Богу говорят: "Отойди от нас, мы не хотим знать Твоих путей!Yet they say to God: ‘Leave us alone! For we have no desire to know Your ways.

15Кто такой Всемогущий, чтобы нам Ему служить? Что пользы прибегать к Нему?"Who is the Almighty, that we should serve Him, and what would we gain if we pray to Him?’

16Видишь, их счастье не от их рук. Совет беззаконных, будь далёк от меня!Still, their prosperity is not in their own hands, so I stay far from the counsel of the wicked.

17Часто ли гаснет светильник у беззаконных, находит ли на них беда? Даёт ли Он им в наследство страдания в Своём гневе?How often is the lamp of the wicked put out? Does disaster come upon them? Does God, in His anger, apportion destruction?

18Они должны быть как соломинка на ветру и как шелуха, уносимая вихрем.Are they like straw before the wind, like chaff swept away by a storm?

19Скажешь: "Бог бережёт его несчастье для его детей". Пусть Он воздаст ему самому, чтобы он это знал.It is said that God lays up one’s punishment for his children. Let God repay the man himself, so he will know it.

20Пусть его глаза увидят своё несчастье, пусть он сам пьёт от гнева Вседержителя.Let his eyes see his own destruction; let him drink for himself the wrath of the Almighty.

21Какое ему дело до своего дома после него, когда число его месяцев кончится?For what does he care about his household after him, when the number of his months has run out?

22Бога ли учить мудрости, когда Он судит и высших?Can anyone teach knowledge to God, since He judges those on high?

23Один умирает в расцвете своих сил, совершенно спокойный и мирный.One man dies full of vigor, completely secure and at ease.

24Его внутренности полны жира и его кости наполнены мозгом.His body is well nourished, and his bones are rich with marrow.

25А другой умирает с огорчённой душой, так и не испытав добра.Yet another man dies in the bitterness of his soul, having never tasted prosperity.

26Они будут вместе лежать в земле, и черви покроют их.But together they lie down in the dust, and worms cover them both.

27Знаю я ваши мысли и ухищрения, какие вы против меня сплетаете.Behold, I know your thoughts full well, the schemes by which you would wrong me.

28Вы скажете: "Где дом правителя и где шатёр, в котором жили беззаконные?"For you say, ‘Where now is the nobleman’s house, and where are the tents in which the wicked dwell?’

29Разве вы не спрашивали у путешественников и не знакомы с их наблюдениями,Have you never asked those who travel the roads? Do you not accept their reports?

30что в день гибели злодей бывает помилован, в день гнева его отведут в сторону?Indeed, the evil man is spared from the day of calamity, delivered from the day of wrath.

31Кто представит ему его путь и кто отплатит ему за то, что он делал?Who denounces his behavior to his face? Who repays him for what he has done?

32Его провожают к гробам и на его могиле ставят охрану.He is carried to the grave, and watch is kept over his tomb.

33Сладки для него глыбы долины. За ним идёт толпа людей, а идущим перед ним нет числа.The clods of the valley are sweet to him; everyone follows behind him, and those before him are without number.

34Как же вы хотите утешать меня пустым? В ваших ответах остаётся одна ложь».So how can you comfort me with empty words? For your answers remain full of falsehood.”
