1Когда иерусалимский царь Адониседек услышал, что Иисус взял Гай и предал его заклятию, и поступил с Гаем и с его царём так же, как поступил с Иерихоном и с его царём, и что жители Гаваона заключили мир с израильтянами и остались среди них,Now Adoni-zedek king of Jerusalem heard that Joshua had captured Ai and devoted it to destruction—doing to Ai and its king as he had done to Jericho and its king—and that the people of Gibeon had made peace with Israel and were living near them.

2тогда он очень испугался, потому что Гаваон– город большой, как один из царских городов, больше Гая, и все его жители– храбрые люди.So Adoni-zedek and his people were greatly alarmed, because Gibeon was a great city, like one of the royal cities; it was larger than Ai, and all its men were mighty.

3Поэтому иерусалимский царь Адониседек послал к хевронскому царю Гогаму, к иармуфскому царю Фираму, к лахисскому царю Яфию и к еглонскому царю Девиру сказать:Therefore Adoni-zedek king of Jerusalem sent word to Hoham king of Hebron, Piram king of Jarmuth, Japhia king of Lachish, and Debir king of Eglon, saying,

4«Придите ко мне и помогите разрушить Гаваон за то, что он заключил мир с Иисусом и сыновьями Израиля».“Come up and help me. We will attack Gibeon, because they have made peace with Joshua and the Israelites.”

5Собрались и пошли пять аморрейских царей: иерусалимский, хевронский, иармуфский, лахисский и еглонский— они и всё их войско, и расположились лагерем около Гаваона, чтобы воевать против него.So the five kings of the Amorites—the kings of Jerusalem, Hebron, Jarmuth, Lachish, and Eglon—joined forces and advanced with all their armies. They camped before Gibeon and made war against it.

6Жители Гаваона послали к Иисусу в лагерь, в Галгал, сказать: «Не оставляй твоих рабов. Скорее приди к нам и спаси нас. Помоги нам, так как против нас собрались все аморрейские цари, живущие на горах».Then the men of Gibeon sent word to Joshua in the camp at Gilgal: “Do not abandon your servants. Come quickly and save us! Help us, because all the kings of the Amorites from the hill country have joined forces against us.”

7Иисус пошёл из Галгала и с ним весь народ, способный к войне, и все храбрые мужчины.So Joshua and his whole army, including all the mighty men of valor, came from Gilgal.

8И сказал Господь Иисусу: «Не бойся их, потому что Я отдал их в твои руки: никто из них не устоит перед тобой».The LORD said to Joshua, “Do not be afraid of them, for I have delivered them into your hand. Not one of them shall stand against you.”

9Иисус пришёл на них внезапно, потому что всю ночь он шёл из Галгала.After marching all night from Gilgal, Joshua caught them by surprise.

10Господь привёл их в смятение при виде израильтян. Они поразили их в Гаваоне сильным поражением, преследовали их по дороге к возвышенности Вефорона и побивали их до Азека и Македа.And the LORD threw them into confusion before Israel, who defeated them in a great slaughter at Gibeon, pursued them along the ascent to Beth-horon, and struck them down as far as Azekah and Makkedah.

11Когда они бежали от израильтян по склону вефоронской горы, Господь бросал на них с небес большие камни до самого Азека, и они умирали. Больше было тех, которые умерли от града камней, чем тех, которых сыновья Израиля убили мечом.As they fled before Israel along the descent from Beth-horon to Azekah, the LORD cast down on them large hailstones from the sky, and more of them were killed by the hailstones than by the swords of the Israelites.

12Иисус обратился к Господу в тот день, когда Господь отдал аморреев в руки израильтян, когда побил их в Гаваоне и они были побиты перед лицом сыновей Израиля, и сказал перед израильтянами: «Стой, солнце, над Гаваоном, и луна– над аиалонской долиной!»On the day that the LORD gave the Amorites over to the Israelites, Joshua spoke to the LORD in the presence of Israel: “O sun, stand still over Gibeon, O moon, over the Valley of Aijalon.”

13И остановилось солнце, и луна стояла, пока народ мстил своим врагам. Не так ли написано в книге Праведного: «Солнце стояло посреди неба почти целый день и не спешило к западу»?So the sun stood still and the moon stopped until the nation took vengeance upon its enemies. Is this not written in the Book of Jashar? “So the sun stopped in the middle of the sky and delayed going down about a full day.”

14Ни раньше, ни после этого не было такого дня, когда бы Господь так слышал голос человека, потому что Господь сражался за Израиль.There has been no day like it before or since, when the LORD listened to the voice of a man, because the LORD fought for Israel.

15Потом Иисус и с ним весь Израиль вернулся в лагерь, в Галгал.Then Joshua returned with all Israel to the camp at Gilgal.

16А те пять царей убежали и скрылись в пещере в Македе.Now the five kings had fled and hidden in the cave at Makkedah.

17Когда донесли Иисусу и сказали: «Нашлись пять царей. Они скрываются в пещере в Македе»,And Joshua was informed: “The five kings have been found; they are hiding in the cave at Makkedah.”

18Иисус сказал: «Привалите большие камни к входу пещеры и приставьте к ней людей охранять их.So Joshua said, “Roll large stones against the mouth of the cave, and post men there to guard them.

19А вы не останавливайтесь, но преследуйте ваших врагов и истребляйте заднюю часть их войска, не давайте им уйти в их города, потому что Господь, ваш Бог, отдал их в ваши руки».But you, do not stop there. Pursue your enemies and attack them from behind. Do not let them reach their cities, for the LORD your God has delivered them into your hand.”

20Иисус и сыновья Израиля поразили их очень великим поражением, а оставшиеся из них убежали в укреплённые города.So Joshua and the Israelites continued to inflict a terrible slaughter until they had finished them off, and the remaining survivors retreated to the fortified cities.

21Весь народ вернулся к Иисусу в лагерь в Макед с миром, и никто на сыновей Израиля не пошевелил своим языком.The whole army returned safely to Joshua in the camp at Makkedah, and no one dared to utter a word against the Israelites.

22Тогда Иисус сказал: «Откройте вход пещеры и приведите ко мне тех пятерых царей».Then Joshua said, “Open the mouth of the cave and bring those five kings out to me.”

23Так и сделали: вывели к нему из пещеры тех пятерых царей: царя иерусалимского, царя хевронского, царя иармуфского, царя лахисского и царя еглонского.So they brought the five kings out of the cave—the kings of Jerusalem, Hebron, Jarmuth, Lachish, and Eglon.

24Когда вывели этих царей к Иисусу, он призвал всех израильтян и сказал военачальникам, ходившим с ним: «Подойдите, наступите вашими ногами на шеи этих царей». Они подошли и наступили своими ногами на их шеи.When they had brought the kings to Joshua, he summoned all the men of Israel and said to the army commanders who had accompanied him, “Come here and put your feet on the necks of these kings.” So the commanders came forward and put their feet on their necks.

25Иисус сказал им: «Не бойтесь и не ужасайтесь, будьте твёрдыми и мужественными, потому что так Господь поступит со всеми вашими врагами, с которыми вы будете воевать».“Do not be afraid or discouraged,” Joshua said. “Be strong and courageous, for the LORD will do this to all the enemies you fight.”

26Потом Иисус поразил их и убил, и повесил их на пяти деревьях. Они висели на деревьях до вечера.After this, Joshua struck down and killed the kings, and he hung their bodies on five trees and left them there until evening.

27При захождении солнца Иисус приказал, и их сняли с деревьев, бросили в пещеру, в которой они скрывались, и привалили большие камни ко входу пещеры, которые там до этого дня.At sunset Joshua ordered that they be taken down from the trees and thrown into the cave in which they had hidden. Then large stones were placed against the mouth of the cave, and the stones are there to this day.

28В тот же день Иисус захватил Макед, поразил его и его царя мечом, предал заклятию их и всё дышащее, что находилось в нём: никого не оставил, кто бы уцелел. И поступил с царём Македа так же, как поступил с царём Иерихона.On that day Joshua captured Makkedah and put it to the sword, along with its king. He devoted to destruction everyone in the city, leaving no survivors. So he did to the king of Makkedah as he had done to the king of Jericho.

29Иисус со всеми израильтянами пошёл из Македа к Ливне и воевал против Ливны.Then Joshua and all Israel with him moved on from Makkedah to Libnah and fought against Libnah.

30Господь отдал её и её царя в руки израильтян. Иисус уничтожил мечом её и всё дышащее, что находилось в ней: никого не оставил в ней, кто бы уцелел, и поступил с царём её так же, как поступил с царём Иерихона.And the LORD also delivered that city and its king into the hand of Israel, and Joshua put all the people to the sword, leaving no survivors. And he did to the king of Libnah as he had done to the king of Jericho.

31Из Ливны Иисус пошёл к Лахису, и с ним все израильтяне. Он расположился около него лагерем и воевал против него.And Joshua and all Israel with him moved on from Libnah to Lachish. They laid siege to it and fought against it.

32Господь отдал Лахис в руки израильтян, они взяли его на другой день и уничтожили его же мечом и всё дышащее, что было в нём. Так поступили с Ливной.And the LORD delivered Lachish into the hand of Israel, and Joshua captured it on the second day. He put all the people to the sword, just as he had done to Libnah.

33Тогда Лахису на помощь пришёл Горам, царь Газера, но Иисус поразил его и народ его так, что никого у него не оставил, кто бы уцелел.At that time Horam king of Gezer went to help Lachish, but Joshua struck him down along with his people, leaving no survivors.

34Иисус со всеми израильтянами пошёл из Лахиса к Еглону. Они расположились около него лагерем и воевали против него.So Joshua moved on from Lachish to Eglon, and all Israel with him. They laid siege to it and fought against it.

35Его взяли в тот же день и поразили мечом, и всё дышащее, что находилось в нём в тот день. Иисус же предал заклятию, как поступил с Лахисом.That day they captured Eglon and put it to the sword, and Joshua devoted to destruction everyone in the city, just as he had done to Lachish.

36Иисус пошёл и все израильтяне с ним из Еглона к Хеврону. Они воевали против него,Then Joshua and all Israel with him went up from Eglon to Hebron and fought against it.

37взяли его, поразили его мечом, его царя, все его города и всё дышащее, что находилось в нём. Никого не оставил, кто бы уцелел, как поступил он и с Еглоном: предал заклятию его и всё дышащее, что находилось в нём.They captured it and put to the sword its king, all its villages, and all the people. Joshua left no survivors, just as he had done at Eglon; he devoted to destruction Hebron and everyone in it.

38Потом направился Иисус, и все израильтяне с ним, к Давиру и воевали против него.Finally Joshua and all Israel with him turned toward Debir and fought against it.

39Взяли его и его царя, и все его города, поразили их мечом и предали заклятию всё дышащее, что находилось в нём: никого не осталось, кто бы уцелел. Как поступил с Хевроном и его царём, так поступил с Давиром и его царём, и как поступил с Ливной и её царём.And they captured Debir, its king, and all its villages. They put them to the sword and devoted to destruction everyone in the city, leaving no survivors. Joshua did to Debir and its king as he had done to Hebron and as he had done to Libnah and its king.

40Иисус поразил всю нагорную и южную землю, низменные места; землю, лежащую у гор, и всех их царей— никого не оставил, кто бы уцелел, и всё дышащее предал заклятию, как велел Господь, Бог Израиля.So Joshua conquered the whole region—the hill country, the Negev, the foothills, and the slopes, together with all their kings—leaving no survivors. He devoted to destruction everything that breathed, just as the LORD, the God of Israel, had commanded.

41Иисус поразил их от Кадес-Варни до Газы, и всю землю Гошен даже до Гаваона.Joshua conquered the area from Kadesh-barnea to Gaza, and the whole region of Goshen as far as Gibeon.

42Всех этих царей и их земли Иисус взял одним разом, потому что Господь, Бог Израиля, сражался за Израиль.And because the LORD, the God of Israel, fought for Israel, Joshua captured all these kings and their land in one campaign.

43Потом Иисус со всеми израильтянами вернулся в лагерь, в Галгал.Then Joshua returned with all Israel to the camp at Gilgal.
