1 ULB யூதாவின் ராஜாவாகிய யோயாக்கீம் ஆட்சிசெய்த மூன்றாம் வருடத்திலே பாபிலோனின் ராஜாவாகிய நேபுகாத்நேச்சார் எருசலேமிற்கு வந்து, அதை முற்றுகையிட்டான். BSB BSB: In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came to Jerusalem and besieged it.
2 ULB அப்பொழுது ஆண்டவர் யூதாவின் ராஜாவாகிய யோயாக்கீமையும் தேவனுடைய ஆலயத்தின் பாத்திரங்களில் சிலவற்றையும் அவனுடைய கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தார்; அவன் அந்தப் பாத்திரங்களைச் சினேயார் தேசத்திலுள்ள தன் தெய்வத்தின் கோவிலுக்குக் கொண்டுபோய், அவைகளைத் தன் தெய்வத்தின் கருவூலத்திற்குள் வைத்தான். BSB BSB: And the Lord delivered into his hand Jehoiakim king of Judah, along with some of the articles from the house of God. He carried these off to the land of Shinar, to the house of his god, where he put them in the treasury of his god.
3 ULB அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரவேல் மக்களுக்குள்ளே ராஜவம்சத்தார்களிலும் உயர்குடிமக்களிலும் எந்தவொரு குறைபாடும் இல்லாதவர்களும், அழகானவர்களும், சகல ஞானத்திலும் தேறினவர்களும், அறிவில் சிறந்தவர்களும், கல்வியில் நிபுணர்களும், ராஜாவின் அரண்மனையிலே வேலைசெய்யத் திறமையுள்ளவர்களுமாகிய சில வாலிபர்களைக் கொண்டுவரவும், BSB BSB: Then the king ordered Ashpenaz, the chief of his court officials, to bring in some Israelites from the royal family and the nobility—
4 ULB அவர்களுக்குக் கல்தேயரின் எழுத்தையும் மொழியையும் கற்றுக்கொடுக்கவும் ராஜா தன் அதிகாரிகளின் தலைவனாகிய அஸ்பேனாசுக்கு கட்டளையிட்டான். BSB BSB: young men without blemish, handsome, gifted in all wisdom, knowledgeable, quick to understand, and qualified to serve in the king’s palace—and to teach them the language and literature of the Chaldeans.
5 ULB ராஜா, தான் சாப்பிடும் உணவிலேயும் தான் குடிக்கும் திராட்சைரசத்திலேயும் தினம் ஒரு பங்கை அவர்களுக்கு நியமித்து, அவர்களை மூன்றுவருடங்கள் வளர்க்கவும், அதின் முடிவிலே அவர்கள் ராஜாவிற்கு முன்பாக நிற்கும்படிசெய்யவும் கட்டளையிட்டான். BSB BSB: The king assigned them daily provisions of the royal food and wine. They were to be trained for three years, after which they were to enter the king’s service.
6 ULB அவர்களுக்குள் யூதா மக்களாகிய தானியேல், அனனியா, மீஷாவேல், அசரியா என்பவர்கள் இருந்தார்கள். BSB BSB: Among these young men were some from Judah: Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah.
7 ULB அதிகாரிகளின் தலைவன், தானியேலுக்கு பெல்தெஷாத்சார் என்றும், அனனியாவிற்கு சாத்ராக் என்றும், மீஷாவேலுக்கு மேஷாக் என்றும், அசரியாவிற்கு ஆபேத்நேகோ என்றும் மறுபெயரிட்டான். BSB BSB: The chief official gave them new names: To Daniel he gave the name Belteshazzar; to Hananiah, Shadrach; to Mishael, Meshach; and to Azariah, Abednego.
8 ULB தானியேல் ராஜாகுறித்திருக்கிற உணவினாலும் அவர் குடிக்கும் திராட்சைரசத்தினாலும் தன்னைத் தீட்டுப்படுத்தக்கூடாதென்று, தன் இருதயத்தில் தீர்மானம்செய்துகொண்டு, தன்னைத் தீட்டுப்படுத்தாதபடி அதிகாரிகளின் தலைவனிடத்தில் வேண்டிக்கொண்டான். BSB BSB: But Daniel made up his mind that he would not defile himself with the king’s food or wine. So he asked the chief official for permission not to defile himself.
9 ULB தேவன் தானியேலுக்கு அதிகாரிகளின் தலைவனிடத்தில் தயவும் இரக்கமும் கிடைக்கும்படி செய்தார். BSB BSB: Now God had granted Daniel favor and compassion from the chief official,
10 ULB அதிகாரிகளின் தலைவன் தானியேலை நோக்கி: உங்களுக்கு உணவையும் பானத்தையும் குறித்திருக்கிற ராஜாவாகிய என் எஜமானுக்கு நான் பயப்படுகிறேன்; அவர் உங்களோடிருக்கிற வாலிபர்களின் முகங்களைப்பார்க்கிலும் உங்கள் முகங்கள் வாடிப்போனவைகளாக ஏன் காணப்படவேண்டும்? அதினால் ராஜா எனக்கு மரணதண்டனை கொடுப்பாரே என்றான். BSB BSB: but he said to Daniel, “I fear my lord the king, who has assigned your food and drink. For why should he see your faces looking thinner than those of the other young men your age? You would endanger my head before the king!”
11 ULB அப்பொழுது அதிகாரிகளின் தலைவனாலே, தானியேல், அனனியா, மீஷாவேல், அசரியா என்பவர்கள்மேல் விசாரிப்புக்காரனாக வைக்கப்பட்ட மேல்ஷார் என்பவனை தானியேல் நோக்கி: BSB BSB: Then Daniel said to the steward whom the chief official had appointed over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah,
12 ULB பத்துநாட்கள்வரைக்கும் உமது அடியார்களைச் சோதித்துப்பாரும்; எங்களுக்கு சாப்பிட பருப்பு முதலான காய்கறிகளையும், குடிக்கத் தண்ணீரையும் கொடுத்து, BSB BSB: “Please test your servants for ten days. Let us be given only vegetables to eat and water to drink.
13 ULB எங்கள் முகங்களையும், ராஜஉணவைச் சாப்பிடுகிற வாலிபர்களுடைய முகங்களையும் ஒப்பிட்டுப்பாரும்; பின்பு நீர் காண்கிறபடி உமது அடியார்களுக்குச் செய்யும் என்றான். BSB BSB: Then compare our appearances with those of the young men who are eating the royal food, and deal with your servants according to what you see.”
14 ULB அவன் இந்தக் காரியத்திலே அவர்களுக்குச் செவிகொடுத்து, பத்துநாட்கள்வரை அவர்களைச் சோதித்துப்பார்த்தான். BSB BSB: So he consented to this and tested them for ten days.
15 ULB பத்துநாட்கள் சென்றபின்பு, ராஜஉணவைச் சாப்பிட்ட எல்லா வாலிபர்களைப்பார்க்கிலும் அவர்கள் முகம் தெளிவுள்ளதாகவும், உடல் திடமுள்ளதாகவும் காணப்பட்டது. BSB BSB: And at the end of ten days, they looked healthier and better nourished than all the young men who were eating the king’s food.
16 ULB ஆகையால் மேல்ஷார் அவர்கள் சாப்பிடச்சொன்ன உணவையும், அவர்கள் குடிக்கச்சொன்ன திராட்சைரசத்தையும் நீக்கிவைத்து, அவர்களுக்குப் பருப்பு முதலானவைகளைக் கொடுத்தான். BSB BSB: So the steward continued to withhold their choice food and the wine they were to drink, and he gave them vegetables instead.
17 ULB இந்த நான்கு வாலிபர்களுக்கும் தேவன் சகல எழுத்திலும் ஞானத்திலும் அறிவையும் சாமர்த்தியத்தையும் கொடுத்தார்; தானியேலைச் சகல தரிசனங்களையும் கனவுகளையும் அறியத்தக்க அறிவுள்ளவனாக்கினார். BSB BSB: To these four young men God gave knowledge and understanding in every kind of literature and wisdom. And Daniel had insight into all kinds of visions and dreams.
18 ULB அவர்களை ராஜாவினிடத்தில் கொண்டுவருகிறதற்குக் குறித்த நாட்கள் நிறைவேறினபோது, அதிகாரிகளின் தலைவன் அவர்களை நேபுகாத்நேச்சாருக்கு முன்பாகக் கொண்டுவந்து விட்டான். BSB BSB: Now at the end of the time specified by the king, the chief official presented them to Nebuchadnezzar.
19 ULB ராஜா அவர்களுடன் பேசினான்; அவர்கள் எல்லோருக்குள்ளும் தானியேல், அனனியா, மீஷாவேல், அசரியா என்பவர்களைப்போல வேறொருவனும் காணப்படவில்லை; ஆகையால் இவர்கள் ராஜசமுகத்தில் நின்றார்கள். BSB BSB: And the king spoke with them, and among all the young men he found no one equal to Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah. So they entered the king’s service.
20 ULB ஞானத்திற்கும் புத்திக்குமுரிய எந்த விஷயத்தில் ராஜா அவர்களைக் கேட்டு விசாரித்தானோ, அதிலே தன் ராஜ்ஜியம் எங்குமுள்ள சகல ஞானிகளிலும் சோதிடர்களிலும் அவர்களைப் பத்துமடங்கு திறமையுள்ளவர்களாகக் கண்டான். BSB BSB: In every matter of wisdom and understanding about which the king consulted them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters in his entire kingdom.
21 ULB கோரேஸ் ஆட்சிசெய்யும் முதலாம்வருடம்வரை தானியேல் அங்கே இருந்தான். BSB BSB: And Daniel remained there until the first year of King Cyrus.
