1 ULB “సోదరులారా, తండ్రులారా, నేనిప్పుడు మీ ఎదుట చెప్పుకొనే జవాబు వినండి.” BSB BSB: “Brothers and fathers, listen now to my defense before you.”

I was educated at the feet of Gamaliel in strict conformity to the law of our fathers. I was just as zealous for God as any of you are today.
4 ULB ఈ విశ్వాస మార్గాన్ని అనుసరిస్తున్న స్త్రీ పురుషుల్ని బంధించి చెరసాలలో వేయిస్తూ, చనిపోయేదాకా హింసించాను. BSB BSB: I persecuted this Way even to the death, detaining both men and women and throwing them into prison,
5 ULB ఈ విషయంలో ప్రధాన యాజకుడూ పెద్దలందరూ సాక్షులు. నేను వారి నుండి దమస్కులోని మన సోదరులకు లేఖలు తీసుకు, అక్కడి విశ్వాసులను కూడా బంధించి శిక్ష వేయడానికి యెరూషలేముకు తీసుకు రావాలని అక్కడికి వెళ్ళాను. BSB BSB: as the high priest and the whole Council can testify about me. I even obtained letters from them to their brothers in Damascus, and I was on my way to apprehend these people and bring them to Jerusalem to be punished.
6 ULB నేను ప్రయాణం చేస్తూ దమస్కును సమీపించినప్పుడు మధ్యాహ్నం ఆకాశం నుండి ఒక గొప్ప వెలుగు హఠాత్తుగా నా చుట్టూ ప్రకాశించింది. BSB BSB: About noon as I was approaching Damascus, suddenly a bright light from heaven flashed around me.
7 ULB నేను నేల మీద పడి ‘సౌలూ సౌలూ, నీవు నన్నెందుకు హింసిస్తున్నావని’ నాతో ఒక స్వరం పలకడం విన్నాను. BSB BSB: I fell to the ground and heard a voice say to me, ‘Saul, Saul, why do you persecute Me?’
8 ULB అందుకు నేను ‘ప్రభూ! నీవెవరివి?’ అని అడగగా ఆయన, ‘నేను నీవు హింసిస్తున్న నజరేయుడైన యేసుని’ అని నాతో చెప్పాడు. BSB BSB: ‘Who are You, Lord?’ I asked. ‘I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom you are persecuting,’ He replied.
9 ULB నాతో ఉన్నవారు ఆ వెలుగును చూశారుగానీ నాతో మాటలాడిన స్వరాన్ని వినలేదు. BSB BSB: My companions saw the light, but they could not understand the voice of the One speaking to me.
10 ULB అప్పుడు నేను ‘ప్రభూ, నన్నేం చేయమంటావు?’ అని అడిగాను. అప్పుడు ప్రభువు, ‘నువ్వు లేచి దమస్కులోకి వెళ్ళు, అక్కడ నువ్వేం చేయాలని నేను నిర్ణయించానో అవన్నీ నీకు తెలుస్తాయి’ అని నాతో అన్నాడు. BSB BSB: Then I asked, ‘What should I do, Lord?’ ‘Get up and go into Damascus,’ He told me. ‘There you will be told all that you have been appointed to do.’
11 ULB ఆ వెలుగు ప్రభావం వలన నేను చూడలేకపోయాను. దాంతో నాతో ఉన్నవారు నన్ను నడిపిస్తూ దమస్కు పట్టణంలోకి తీసుకెళ్ళారు. BSB BSB: Because the brilliance of the light had blinded me, my companions led me by the hand into Damascus.
12 ULB “అక్కడ ధర్మశాస్త్రం విషయంలో భక్తిపరుడూ, అక్కడ నివసించే యూదులందరి చేతా మంచి పేరు పొందిన అననీయ అనే వ్యక్తి నా దగ్గరికి వచ్చి BSB BSB: There a man named Ananias, a devout observer of the law who was highly regarded by all the Jews living there,
13 ULB ‘సోదరా సౌలూ, చూపు పొందు’ అని నాతో చెప్పగానే నేను చూపు పొంది అతణ్ణి చూశాను. BSB BSB: came and stood beside me. ‘Brother Saul,’ he said, ‘receive your sight.’ And at that moment I could see him.
14 ULB అప్పుడు అతడు ‘మన పూర్వీకుల దేవుని సంకల్పాన్ని తెలుసుకోడానికీ, ఆ నీతిమంతుణ్ణి చూడటానికీ, ఆయన నోటి మాట వినడానికీ నిన్ను నియమించాడు. BSB BSB: Then he said, ‘The God of our fathers has appointed you to know His will and to see the Righteous One and to hear His voice.

16 ULB కాబట్టి ఆలస్యమెందుకు? లేచి బాప్తిసం పొంది, ఆయన నామంలో ప్రార్థన చేసి నీ పాపాలను కడిగి వేసుకో’ అన్నాడు. BSB BSB: And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized, and wash your sins away, calling on His name.’
17 ULB ఆ వెంటనే నేను యెరూషలేముకు తిరిగి వచ్చి దేవాలయంలో ప్రార్థన చేస్తుండగా పరవశానికి లోనై ప్రభువుని చూశాను. BSB BSB: Later, when I had returned to Jerusalem and was praying at the temple, I fell into a trance
18 ULB ఆయన నాతో, ‘నీవు వెంటనే యెరూషలేము విడిచి వెళ్ళు. నన్ను గూర్చి నీవిచ్చే సాక్ష్యం ఇక్కడి వారు అంగీకరించరు’ అని చెప్పాడు. BSB BSB: and saw the Lord saying to me, ‘Hurry! Leave Jerusalem quickly, because the people here will not accept your testimony about Me.’
19 ULB అందుకు నేను, ‘ప్రభూ, ప్రతి సమాజ మందిరంలో నీపై నమ్మకముంచిన వారిని నేను చెరసాలలో వేయిస్తూ కొడుతూ ఉన్నానని వారికి తెలుసు. BSB BSB: ‘Lord,’ I answered, ‘they know very well that in one synagogue after another I imprisoned and beat those who believed in You.
20 ULB అంతేగాక నీ సాక్షి అయిన స్తెఫను రక్తం ఒలికించినప్పుడు నేను కూడా అక్కడ నిలబడి అందుకు సమ్మతించి అతణ్ణి చంపినవారి వస్త్రాలకు కాపలా ఉన్నాను’ అని చెప్పాను. BSB BSB: And when the blood of Your witness Stephen was shed, I stood there giving my approval and watching over the garments of those who killed him.’
21 ULB అందుకు ఆయన ‘వెళ్ళు, ఎందుకంటే నేను నిన్ను దూరంగా యూదేతరుల దగ్గరికి పంపుతాను’ అని నాతో చెప్పాడు.” BSB BSB: Then He said to me, ‘Go! I will send you far away to the Gentiles.’”

23 ULB వారు కేకలు వేస్తూ తమ పై వస్త్రాలు విదిలించుకుంటూ ఆకాశం వైపు దుమ్మెత్తి పోశారు. BSB BSB: As they were shouting and throwing off their cloaks and tossing dust into the air,
24 ULB ఈ విధంగా వారు అతనికి వ్యతిరేకంగా కేకలు వేయడానికి కారణమేమిటో తెలుసుకోవడం కోసం సహస్రాధిపతి అతనిని కొరడాలతో కొట్టి, విచారణ కోసం కోటలోకి తీసుకుని పొండని ఆజ్ఞాపించాడు. BSB BSB: the commander ordered that Paul be brought into the barracks. He directed that Paul be flogged and interrogated to determine the reason for this outcry against him.

26 ULB శతాధిపతి ఆ మాట విని సహస్రాధిపతి దగ్గరికి వెళ్ళి, “నీవేం చేస్తున్నావు? ఈ వ్యక్తి రోమీయుడు, తెలుసా?” అన్నాడు. BSB BSB: On hearing this, the centurion went and reported it to the commander. “What are you going to do?” he said. “This man is a Roman citizen.”
27 ULB అప్పుడు సహస్రాధిపతి వచ్చి పౌలును చూసి, “నీవు రోమీయుడవా? అది నాతో చెప్పు” అన్నప్పుడు BSB BSB: The commander went to Paul and asked, “Tell me, are you a Roman citizen?” “Yes,” he answered.
28 ULB అతడు, “అవును” అని చెప్పాడు. అప్పుడా సహస్రాధిపతి, “నేను చాలా వెల చెల్లించి ఈ పౌరసత్వం సంపాదించుకున్నాను” అన్నాడు. అందుకు పౌలు, “నేనైతే పుట్టుకతోనే రోమీయుణ్ణి” అని చెప్పాడు. BSB BSB: “I paid a high price for my citizenship,” said the commander. “But I was born a citizen,” Paul replied.
29 ULB కాబట్టి వారు వెంటనే పౌలుని విడిచిపెట్టారు. పైగా అతడు రోమీయుడని తెలిసికొన్నప్పుడు అతణ్ణి బంధించినందుకు సహస్రాధిపతి కూడా భయపడ్డాడు. BSB BSB: At once those who were about to interrogate Paul stepped back, and the commander himself was alarmed when he realized that he had put a Roman citizen in chains.
30 ULB మరునాడు, యూదులు అతని మీద మోపిన నేరాన్ని కచ్చితంగా తెలుసుకోవడం కోసం, సహస్రాధిపతి అతని సంకెళ్ళు విడిపించి, ప్రధాన యాజకులూ, మహా సభవారంతా సమావేశం కావాలని ఆజ్ఞాపించి, పౌలును తీసుకొచ్చి వారి ముందు నిలబెట్టాడు. BSB BSB: The next day the commander, wanting to learn the real reason Paul was accused by the Jews, released him and ordered the chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin to assemble. Then he brought Paul down and had him stand before them.
