11หญิงนั้นกล่าวกับพระองค์ว่า “ท่านคะ ท่านไม่มีอะไรใช้ตักน้ำ และบ่อก็ลึก แล้วท่านจะเอาน้ำที่มีชีวิตนั้นมาจากไหน?“Sir,” the woman replied, “You have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where then will You get this living water?

12ท่านยิ่งใหญ่กว่ายาโคบบรรพบุรุษของพวกเราหรือ? ยาโคบเป็นผู้ให้บ่อนี้แก่พวกเรา และยาโคบเองก็ดื่มน้ำจากบ่อนี้ รวมทั้งลูก ๆ และฝูงสัตว์ของเขาด้วย”Are You greater than our father Jacob, who gave us this well and drank from it himself, as did his sons and his livestock?”

17หญิงนั้นตอบว่า “ดิฉันไม่มีสามี” พระเยซูกล่าวกับนางว่า “ท่านพูดถูกแล้วที่ว่า ‘ข้าพเจ้าไม่มีสามี’“I have no husband,” the woman replied. Jesus said to her, “You are correct to say that you have no husband.

18เพราะท่านเคยมีสามีมาห้าคน และผู้ชายที่อยู่กับท่านตอนนี้ก็ไม่ใช่สามีของท่าน เรื่องนี้ท่านพูดความจริง”In fact, you have had five husbands, and the man you now have is not your husband. You have spoken truthfully.”

19หญิงนั้นกล่าวกับพระองค์ว่า “ท่านคะ ดิฉันเห็นแล้วว่าท่านเป็นผู้เผยพระวจนะ“Sir,” the woman said, “I see that You are a prophet.

20บรรพบุรุษของพวกเรานมัสการบนภูเขาลูกนี้ แต่พวกคุณชาวยิวบอกว่า สถานที่ที่ควรนมัสการคือกรุงเยรูซาเล็ม”Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, but you Jews say that the place where one must worship is in Jerusalem.”

21พระเยซูกล่าวกับนางว่า “หญิงเอ๋ย เชื่อเราเถอะ วาระกำลังมา เมื่อพวกคุณจะนมัสการพระบิดา ไม่ใช่ที่ภูเขาลูกนี้ และไม่ใช่ที่กรุงเยรูซาเล็ม“Believe Me, woman,” Jesus replied, “a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem.

25หญิงนั้นกล่าวกับพระองค์ว่า “ดิฉันรู้ว่าพระเมสสิยาห์กำลังมา คือผู้ที่เรียกว่า พระคริสต์ เมื่อพระองค์มา พระองค์จะบอกทุกสิ่งแก่พวกเรา”The woman said, “I know that Messiah” (called Christ) “is coming. When He comes, He will explain everything to us.”

But no one asked Him, “What do You want from her?” or “Why are You talking with her?”

28หญิงนั้นจึงทิ้งหม้อน้ำไว้ แล้วเข้าไปในเมืองและบอกผู้คนว่าThen the woman left her water jar, went back into the town, and said to the people,

39ชาวสะมาเรียจำนวนมากจากเมืองนั้นเชื่อในพระองค์ เพราะถ้อยคำของหญิงนั้นที่เป็นพยานว่า “พระองค์บอกทุกอย่างที่ดิฉันเคยทำ”Many of the Samaritans from that town believed in Jesus because of the woman’s testimony, “He told me everything I ever did.”

43หลังจากสองวันนั้น พระองค์ออกจากที่นั่นไปยังแคว้นกาลิลีAfter two days, Jesus left for Galilee.

44เพราะพระเยซูเองเป็นพยานว่า ผู้เผยพระวจนะไม่ได้รับเกียรติในบ้านเมืองของตนเองNow He Himself had testified that a prophet has no honor in his own hometown.

45เมื่อพระองค์มาถึงแคว้นกาลิลี ชาวกาลิลีก็ต้อนรับพระองค์ เพราะพวกเขาเองก็ไปร่วมเทศกาลที่กรุงเยรูซาเล็ม และได้เห็นทุกสิ่งที่พระองค์ทำที่นั่นYet when He arrived, the Galileans welcomed Him. They had seen all the great things He had done in Jerusalem at the feast, for they had gone there as well.

47เมื่อเขาได้ยินว่าพระเยซูออกจากแคว้นยูเดียมาถึงแคว้นกาลิลี เขาจึงไปหาพระองค์ และขอร้องให้พระองค์ลงไปรักษาลูกชายของเขา เพราะเด็กใกล้จะตายแล้วWhen he heard that Jesus had come from Judea to Galilee, he went and begged Him to come down and heal his son, who was about to die.

48พระเยซูจึงกล่าวกับเขาว่า “ถ้าพวกคุณไม่ได้เห็นหมายสำคัญและการอัศจรรย์ พวกคุณจะไม่เชื่อเลย”Jesus said to him, “Unless you people see signs and wonders, you will never believe.”

49ขุนนางกล่าวกับพระองค์ว่า “ท่านครับ โปรดลงไปก่อนลูกของผมจะตาย”“Sir,” the official said, “come down before my child dies.”

50พระเยซูกล่าวกับเขาว่า “กลับไป ลูกชายของท่านมีชีวิตอยู่” ชายนั้นเชื่อถ้อยคำที่พระเยซูกล่าวกับเขา แล้วก็กลับไป“Go,” said Jesus. “Your son will live.” The man took Jesus at His word and departed.
