1 ULB जिसका ये ईमान है कि ईसा' ही मसीह है, वो ख़ुदा से पैदा हुआ है; और जो कोई बाप से मुहब्बत रखता है,वो उसकी औलाद से भी मुहब्बत रखता है| BSB BSB: Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God, and everyone who loves the Father also loves those born of Him.
2 ULB जब हम ख़ुदा से मुहब्बत रखते और उसके हुक्मों पर 'अमल करते हैं, तो इससे मा'लूम हो जाता है कि ख़ुदा के फ़र्ज़न्दों से भी मुहब्बत रखते हैं| BSB BSB: By this we know that we love the children of God: when we love God and keep His commandments.
3 ULB और ख़ुदा की मुहब्बत ये है कि हम उसके हुक्मों पर 'अमल करें,और उसके हुक्म सख़्त नहीं| BSB BSB: For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome,
4 ULB जो कोई ख़ुदा से पैदा हुआ है, वो दुनिया पर ग़ालिब आता है; और वो ग़ल्बा जिससे दुनिया मग़लूब हुई है, हमारा ईमान है| BSB BSB: because everyone born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world: our faith.
5 ULB दुनिया को हराने वाला कौन है? सिवा उस शख्स के जिसका ये ईमान है कि ईसा' ख़ुदा का बेटा है| BSB BSB: Who then overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.
6 ULB यही है वो जो पानी और ख़ून के वसीले से आया था,या'नी ईसा' मसीह:वो न फ़क़त पानी के वसीले से,बल्कि पानी और ख़ून दोनों के वसीले से आया था| BSB BSB: This is the One who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ—not by water alone, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who testifies to this, because the Spirit is the truth.
7 ULB और जो गवाही देता है वो रूह है,क्यूँकि रूह सच्चाई है| BSB BSB: For there are three that testify:
8 ULB और गवाही देनेवाले तीन है:रूह पानी और खून;ये तीन एक बात पर मुत्तफ़िक़ हैं| BSB BSB: the Spirit, the water, and the blood—and these three are in agreement.
9 ULB जब हम आदमियों की गवाही क़ुबूल कर लेते हैं, तो ख़ुदा की गवाही तो उससे बढ़कर है;और ख़ुदा की गवाही ये है कि उसने अपने बेटे के हक़ में गवाही दी है| BSB BSB: Even if we accept human testimony, the testimony of God is greater. For this is the testimony that God has given about His Son.
10 ULB जो ख़ुदा के बेटे पर ईमान रखता है,वो अपने आप में गवाही रखता है |जिसने ख़ुदा का यक़ीन नहीं किया उसने उसे झूटा ठहराया, क्यूँकि वो उस गवाही पर जो ख़ुदा ने अपने बेटे के हक़ में दी है,ईमान नही लाया BSB BSB: Whoever believes in the Son of God has this testimony within him; whoever does not believe God has made Him out to be a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has given about His Son.
12 ULB जिसके पास बेटा है,उसके पास ज़िन्दगी है,और जिसके पास ख़ुदा का बेटा नहीं, उसके पास ज़िन्दगी भी नहीं। BSB BSB: Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.
14 ULB और हमे जो उसके सामने दिलेरी है, उसकी वजह ये है कि अगर उसकी मर्ज़ी के मुवाफ़िक़ कुछ माँगते हैं, तो वो हमारी सुनता है| BSB BSB: And this is the confidence that we have before Him: If we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.
15 ULB और जब हम जानते हैं कि जो कुछ हम माँगते हैं, वो हमारी सुनता है,तो ये भी जानते हैं कि जो कुछ हम ने उससे माँगा है वो पाया है| BSB BSB: And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we already possess what we have asked of Him.
16 ULB अगर कोई अपने भाई को ऐसा गुनाह करते देखे जिसका नतीजा मौत न हो तो दु'आ करे ख़ुदा उसके वसीले से ज़िन्दगी बख़्शेगा| उन्हीं को जिन्होंने ऐसा गुनाह नहीं किया जिसका नतीजा मौत हो, गुनाह ऐसा भी है जिसका नतीजा मौत है; इसके बारे मे दु'आ करने को मैं नहीं कहता| BSB BSB: If anyone sees his brother committing a sin not leading to death, he should ask God, who will give life to those who commit this kind of sin. There is a sin that leads to death; I am not saying he should ask regarding that sin.
17 ULB है तो हर तरह की नारास्ती गुनाह,मगर ऐसा गुनाह भी है जिसका नतीजा मौत नहीं| BSB BSB: All unrighteousness is sin, yet there is sin that does not lead to death.
18 ULB हम जानते है कि जो कोई ख़ुदा से पैदा हुआ है,वो गुनाह नही करता;बल्कि उसकी हिफ़ाज़त वो करता है जो ख़ुदा से पैदा हुआ और शैतान उसे छूने नहीं पाता| BSB BSB: We know that anyone born of God does not keep on sinning; the One who was born of God protects him, and the evil one cannot touch him.
19 ULB हम जानते हैं कि हम ख़ुदा से हैं, और सारी दुनिया उस शैतान के क़ब्ज़े में पड़ी हुई है| BSB BSB: We know that we are of God, and that the whole world is under the power of the evil one.
20 ULB और ये भी जानते है कि ख़ुदा का बेटा आ गया है,और उसने हमे समझ बख़्शी है ताकि उसको जो हक़ीक़ी है जानें और हम उसमें जो हक़ीक़ी है,या'नी उसके बेटे ईसा' मसीह" में हैं, |हक़ीक़ी ख़ुदा और हमेशा की ज़िन्दगी यही है| BSB BSB: And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true—in His Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.
21 ULB ऐ बच्चों! अपने आपको बुतों से बचाए रख्खो| BSB BSB: Little children, keep yourselves from idols.
