9 WBS Then Peter said to her, How is it that ye have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? behold the feet of them who have buried thy husband are at the door, and shall carry thee out. 38 WBS And now I say to you, Refrain from these men, and let them alone: for if this counsel or this work is from men, it will come to naught: BSB BSB: So in the present case I advise you: Leave these men alone. Let them go! For if their purpose or endeavor is of human origin, it will fail.
39 WBS But if it is from God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God. BSB BSB: But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop them. You may even find yourselves fighting against God.”
40 WBS And to him they assented: and when they had called the apostles, and beaten them , they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go. BSB BSB: At this, they yielded to Gamaliel. They called the apostles in and had them flogged. Then they ordered them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and released them.
41 WBS And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name. BSB BSB: The apostles left the Sanhedrin, rejoicing that they had been counted worthy of suffering disgrace for the Name.
