WBS This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bore what was put in it. BSB BSB: Judas did not say this because he cared about the poor, but because he was a thief. As keeper of the money bag, he used to take from what was put into it.
WBS Then said Jesus, Let her alone: against the day of my burial hath she kept this. BSB BSB: “Leave her alone,” Jesus replied. “She has kept this perfume in preparation for the day of My burial.

BSB BSB: Meanwhile a large crowd of Jews learned that Jesus was there. And they came not only because of Him, but also to see Lazarus, whom He had raised from the dead.
WBS But the chief priests consulted that they might put Lazarus also to death; BSB BSB: So the chief priests made plans to kill Lazarus as well,

WBS These things his disciples understood not at the first: but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were written concerning him, and that they had done these things to him. BSB BSB: At first His disciples did not understand these things, but after Jesus was glorified they remembered what had been done to Him, and they realized that these very things had also been written about Him.
WBS The people therefore that were with him when he called Lazarus out of his grave, and raised him from the dead, bore testimony. BSB BSB: Meanwhile, many people who had been with Jesus when He called Lazarus from the tomb and raised him from the dead continued to testify.
WBS For this cause the people also met him, for that they heard that he had done this miracle. BSB BSB: That is also why the crowd went out to meet Him, because they heard that He had performed this sign.
WBS The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, Perceive ye how ye prevail nothing? behold, the world is gone after him. BSB BSB: Then the Pharisees said to one another, “You can see that this is doing you no good. Look how the whole world has gone after Him!”

WBS Verily, verily, I say to you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit. BSB BSB: Truly, truly, I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a seed. But if it dies, it bears much fruit.
WBS If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honor. BSB BSB: If anyone serves Me, he must follow Me; and where I am, My servant will be as well. If anyone serves Me, the Father will honor him.
WBS Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause I came to this hour. BSB BSB: Now My soul is troubled, and what shall I say? ‘Father, save Me from this hour’? No, it is for this purpose that I have come to this hour.
WBS Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying , I have both glorified it , and will glorify it again. BSB BSB: Father, glorify Your name!” Then a voice came from heaven: “I have glorified it, and I will glorify it again.”

WBS (This he said, signifying what death he should die.) BSB BSB: He said this to indicate the kind of death He was going to die.
WBS The people answered him, We have heard out of the law that Christ abideth for ever: and how sayest thou, The Son of man must be lifted up? Who is this Son of man? BSB BSB: The crowd replied, “We have heard from the Law that the Christ will remain forever. So how can You say that the Son of Man must be lifted up? Who is this Son of Man?”
WBS Then Jesus said to them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth. BSB BSB: Then Jesus told them, “For a little while longer, the Light will be among you. Walk while you have the Light, so that darkness will not overtake you. The one who walks in the darkness does not know where he is going.
WBS While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spoke Jesus, and departed, and concealed himself from them. BSB BSB: While you have the Light, believe in the Light, so that you may become sons of light.” After Jesus had spoken these things, He went away and was hidden from them.
Belief and Unbelief 37 WBS But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him: BSB BSB: Although Jesus had performed so many signs in their presence, they still did not believe in Him.
WBS That the saying of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spoke, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed? BSB BSB: This was to fulfill the word of Isaiah the prophet: “Lord, who has believed our message? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?”
WBS Therefore they could not believe, because that Isaiah said again, BSB BSB: For this reason they were unable to believe. For again, Isaiah says:
WBS He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them. BSB BSB: “He has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts, so that they cannot see with their eyes, and understand with their hearts, and turn, and I would heal them.”
WBS These things said Isaiah, when he saw his glory, and spoke of him. BSB BSB: Isaiah said these things because he saw Jesus’ glory and spoke about Him.

WBS He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day. BSB BSB: There is a judge for the one who rejects Me and does not receive My words: The word that I have spoken will judge him on the last day.
WBS For I have not spoken from myself; but the Father who sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. BSB BSB: I have not spoken on My own, but the Father who sent Me has commanded Me what to say and how to say it.
WBS And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatever I speak therefore, even as the Father said to me, so I speak. BSB BSB: And I know that His command leads to eternal life. So I speak exactly what the Father has told Me to say.”
