1. 1ULBኢየሱስ በመንገድ ሲያልፍ፣ ከተወለደ ጀምሮ ዐይነ ስውር የነበረ አንድ ሰው አየ።BSBBSB: Now as Jesus was passing by, He saw a man blind from birth,
2. 2ULBደቀ መዛሙርቱ፣ “መምህር ሆይ፤ ይህ ሰው ዐይነ ስውር ሆኖ እንዲወለድ ያደረገው የራሱ ኀጢአት ነው ወይስ የወላጆቹ?” አሉት።BSBBSB: and His disciples asked Him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?”
3. 3ULBኢየሱስም እንዲህ ሲል መለሰላቸው፤ “የእግዚአብሔር ሥራ በእርሱ እንዲገለጥ ነው እንጂ፣ እርሱ ወይም ወላጆቹ ኀጢአት አልሠሩም።BSBBSB: Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but this happened so that the works of God would be displayed in him.
4. 4ULBየላከኝን ሥራ ቀን ሳለ መሥራት ይገባናል። ማንም ሊሠራ የማይችልበት ሌሊት እየመጣ ነው።BSBBSB: While it is daytime, we must do the works of Him who sent Me. Night is coming, when no one can work.
5. 5ULBበዓለም እስካለሁ፣ የዓለም ብርሃን እኔ ነኝ።”BSBBSB: While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”
6. 6ULBኢየሱስ ይህን ካለ በኋላ፣ መሬት ላይ እንትፍ ብሎ፣ በምራቁ ጭቃ ሠራ፤ በጭቃውም የሰውየውን ዐይን ቀባ።BSBBSB: When Jesus had said this, He spit on the ground, made some mud, and applied it to the man’s eyes.
7. 7ULBሰውየውንም፣ “ሂድና በሰሊሆም መጠመቂያ ታጠበ” አለው፣ ‘ሰሊሆም’ የተላከ ማለት ነው። ሰውየውም ወደዚያው ሄዶ ታጠበ፤ ዐይኑም እያየለት ተመልሶ መጣ።BSBBSB: Then He told him, “Go, wash in the Pool of Siloam” (which means “Sent”). So the man went and washed, and came back seeing.
8. 8ULBየሰውየው ጐረቤቶችና ቀድሞ ለማኝ ሆኖ ያዩት ሰዎችም፣ “ይህ ሰው ተቀምጦ ሲለምን የነበረው ሰው አይደለምን?” አሉ።BSBBSB: At this, his neighbors and those who had formerly seen him begging began to ask, “Isn’t this the man who used to sit and beg?”
9. 9ULBአንዳንዶቹ፣ “እርሱ ነው” አሉ፤ ሌሎችም፣ “ይመስለዋል እንጂ እርሱ አይደለም” አሉ። እርሱ ግን፣ “እኔው ነኝ” አለ።BSBBSB: Some claimed that he was, but others said, “No, he just looks like him.” But the man kept saying, “I am the one.”
10. 10ULBእነርሱም፣ “ታዲያ፣ ዐይኖችህ እንዴት ተከፈቱልህ?” አሉት።BSBBSB: “How then were your eyes opened?” they asked.
11. 11ULBእርሱም እንዲህ ብሎ መለሰላቸው፤ “ኢየሱስ የሚባለው ሰው ጭቃ ሠርቶ ዐይኔን ቀባ፤ ከዚያም፣ ‘ወደ ሰሊሆም ሄደህ ታጠብ’ አለኝ። እኔም ሄጄ ታጠብሁ፤ ዐይኖቼም በሩ።”BSBBSB: He answered, “The man they call Jesus made some mud and anointed my eyes, and He told me to go to Siloam and wash. So I went and washed and received my sight.”
12. 12ULBእነርሱም፣ “ታዲያ፣ እርሱ የት ነው?” አሉ። እርሱም፣ “እኔ አላውቅም” ብሎ መለሰላቸው።BSBBSB: “Where is He?” they asked. “I do not know,” he answered.
13. 13ULBእነርሱም ዐይነ ስውር የነበረውን ሰው ወደ ፈሪሳውያን ወሰዱት።BSBBSB: They brought to the Pharisees the man who had been blind.
14. 14ULBኢየሱስ ጭቃ ሠርቶ የሰውየውን ዐይን የከፈተው በሰንበት ቀን ነበረ።BSBBSB: Now the day on which Jesus had made the mud and opened his eyes was a Sabbath.
15. 15ULBፈሪሳውያንም ዐይኑ እንዴት እንደ ተከፈተለት እንደ ገና ሰውየውን ጠየቁት። እርሱም፣ “ዐይኖቼን ጭቃ ቀባ፤ ታጠብሁና ማየት ቻልሁ” አላቸው።BSBBSB: So the Pharisees also asked him how he had received his sight. The man answered, “He put mud on my eyes, and I washed, and now I can see.”
16. 16ULBከፈሪሳውያን አንዳንዶቹ፣ “ይህ ሰው ሰንበትን ስለማያከብር፣ ከእግዚአብሔር አይደለም” አሉ። ሌሎቹም፣ “ኀጢአተኛ የሆነ ሰው እንዴት እንደዚህ ያለ ተአምር ይሠራል?” አሉ። ስለዚህ በመካከላቸው መከፋፈል ተፈጠረ።BSBBSB: Because of this, some of the Pharisees said, “This man is not from God, for He does not keep the Sabbath.” But others said, “How can a sinful man perform such signs?” And there was division among them.
17. 17ULBእንደ ገናም ዐይነ ስውሩን ሰው፣ “ዐይንህን ስለ ከፈተው ሰው ምን ትላለህ?” አሉት። ዐይነ ስውሩም፣ “ነቢይ ነው” አለ።BSBBSB: So once again they asked the man who had been blind, “What do you say about Him, since it was your eyes He opened?” “He is a prophet,” the man replied.
18. 18ULBፈሪሳውያንም ዐይነ ስውር የነበረው ሰው ዐይኖች መከፈታቸውን አሁንም ስላላመኑ፣ ዐይኑ የበራለትን ሰው ወላጆች አስጠሩ።BSBBSB: The Jews still did not believe that the man had been blind and had received his sight until they summoned his parents
19. 19ULBወላጆቹንም፣ “ይህ ዐይነ ስውር ሆኖ የተወለደ ነው የምትሉት ሰው ልጃችሁ ነውን? ከሆነስ፣ አሁን እንዴት ማየት ቻለ?” ብለው ጠየቋቸው።BSBBSB: and asked, “Is this your son, the one you say was born blind? So how is it that he can now see?”
20. 20ULBወላጆቹም እንዲህ ሲሉ መለሱላቸው፤ “ይህ ልጃችን መሆኑንና ዐይነ ስውር ሆኖ መወለዱን እናውቃለን።BSBBSB: His parents answered, “We know he is our son, and we know he was born blind.
21. 21ULBአሁን እንዴት ማየት እንደ ቻለ ግን አናውቅም፤ ዐይኑን የከፈተለት ማን እንደ ሆነም አናውቅም። እርሱን ጠይቁት፤ ጕልማሳ ነው፤ ስለ ራሱ መናገር ይችላል።”BSBBSB: But how he can now see or who opened his eyes, we do not know. Ask him. He is old enough to speak for himself.”
22. 22ULBወላጆቹ እንዲህ ያሉት አይሁድን ስለ ፈሩ ነበር። ምክንያቱም አይሁድ፣ ኢየሱስ እርሱ ክርስቶስ ነው የሚል ሰው ካገኙ፣ ከምኵራብ ሊያስወግዱት ቀደም ብለው ተስማምተው ነበር።BSBBSB: His parents said this because they were afraid of the Jews. For the Jews had already determined that anyone who confessed Jesus as the Christ would be put out of the synagogue.
23. 23ULBወላጆቹ፣ “እርሱ ጕልማሳ ነው፤ ራሱን ጠይቁት” ያሉትም በዚህ ምክንያት ነበር።BSBBSB: That was why his parents said, “He is old enough. Ask him.”
24. 24ULBዐይነ ስውር የነበረውን ሰው እንደ ገና አስጠርተው፣ “ለእግዚአብሔር ክብር ስጥ፤ እኛ ይህ ሰው ኀጢአተኛ እንደ ሆነ እናውቃለን” አሉት።BSBBSB: So a second time they called for the man who had been blind and said, “Give glory to God! We know that this man is a sinner.”
25. 25ULBሰውየውም፣ “እኔ እርሱ ኀጢአተኛ መሆኑን አላውቅም። ነገር ግን አንድ ነገር ዐውቃለሁ፤ ዐይነ ስውር ነበርሁ፤ አሁን ግን እያየሁ ነው” አላቸው።BSBBSB: He answered, “Whether He is a sinner I do not know. There is one thing I do know: I was blind, but now I see!”
26. 26ULBእነርሱም፣ “ያደረገልህ ምንድን ነው? ዐይኖችህንስ የከፈተው እንዴት ነው?” አሉት።BSBBSB: “What did He do to you?” they asked. “How did He open your eyes?”
27. 27ULBእርሱም፣ “አስቀድሜ ነግሬአችሁ ነበር! እናንተ ግን አትሰሙም። እንደ ገና መስማትስ ለምን ፈለጋችሁ? እናንተም የእርሱ ደቀ መዛሙርት ለመሆን ትፈልጋላችሁን?” ብሎ መለሰ።BSBBSB: He replied, “I already told you, and you did not listen. Why do you want to hear it again? Do you also want to become His disciples?”
28. 28ULBሰደቡትና እንዲህ አሉ፤ “አንተ የእርሱ ደቀ መዝሙር ነህ፣ እኛ ግን የሙሴ ደቀ መዛሙርት ነን።BSBBSB: Then they heaped insults on him and said, “You are His disciple; we are disciples of Moses.
29. 29ULBእግዚአብሔር ሙሴን እንደ ተናገረው እናውቃለን፤ ይህ ሰው ግን ከየት እንደ መጣ አናውቅም።”BSBBSB: We know that God spoke to Moses, but we do not know where this man is from.”
30. 30ULBሰውየውም፣ “ይህ ሰው ከየት እንደ መጣ አለማወቃችሁ የሚገርም ነው፤ ይሁን እንጂ፣ ዐይኔን የከፈተው እርሱ ነው።BSBBSB: “That is remarkable indeed!” the man said. “You do not know where He is from, and yet He opened my eyes.
31. 31ULBእግዚአብሔር ኀጢአተኞችን እንደማይሰማ እናውቃለን፤ ነገር ግን እግዚአብሔርን የሚያመልክና ፈቃዱን የሚያደርግ ሰው ሁሉ እግዚአብሔር ይሰማዋል።BSBBSB: We know that God does not listen to sinners, but He does listen to the one who worships Him and does His will.
32. 32ULBዓለም ከተፈጠረ ጀምሮ፣ ዐይነ ስውር ሆኖ የተወለደን ሰው ዐይን የከፈተ ሰው ከቶ አልተሰማም።BSBBSB: Never before has anyone heard of opening the eyes of a man born blind.
33. 33ULBይህ ሰው ከእግዚአብሔር ባይሆን ኖሮ፣ አንድም ነገር ማድረግ ባልቻለ ነበር።”BSBBSB: If this man were not from God, He could do no such thing.”
34. 34ULBእነርሱም፣ መልሰው “አንተ ሁለንተናህ በኀጢአት የተወለደ፣ አሁን አንተ እኛን ታስተምረናለህን?” አሉት። ከዚያም ከምኵራብ አስወጡት።BSBBSB: They replied, “You were born in utter sin, and you are instructing us?” And they threw him out.
35. 35ULBኢየሱስም ሰውየውን ከምኵራብ እንዳስወጡት ሰማ። ሰውየውንም አግኝቶ፣ “በሰው ልጅ ታምናለህን?” አለው።BSBBSB: When Jesus heard that they had thrown him out, He found the man and said, “Do you believe in the Son of Man?”
36. 36ULBእርሱም፣ “ጌታ ሆይ፣ አምንበት ዘንድ እርሱ ማን ነው?” አለው።BSBBSB: “Who is He, Sir?” he replied. “Tell me so that I may believe in Him.”
37. 37ULBኢየሱስም፣ “አይተኸዋል፤ አሁን እንኳ ከአንተ ጋር እየተነጋገረ ያለው እርሱ ነው” አለው።BSBBSB: “You have already seen Him,” Jesus answered. “He is the One speaking with you.”
38. 38ULBሰውየውም፣ “ጌታ ሆይ፣ አምናለሁ” አለ። ከዚያም ሰገደለት።BSBBSB: “Lord, I believe,” he said. And he worshiped Jesus.
39. 39ULBኢየሱስም፣ “የማያዩ እንዲያዩ፣ የሚያዩም እንዳያዩ፣ ለፍርድ ወደዚህ ዓለም መጣሁ” አለ።BSBBSB: Then Jesus declared, “For judgment I have come into this world, so that the blind may see and those who see may become blind.”
40. 40ULBከእነርሱም ጋር ከነበሩት አንዳንድ ፈሪሳውያን ይህን ሰምተው፣ “እኛም ደግሞ ዐይነ ስውራን ነን ወይ?” አሉት።BSBBSB: Some of the Pharisees who were with Him heard this, and they asked Him, “Are we blind too?”
41. 41ULBኢየሱስም፣ “ዐይነ ስውራን ብትሆኑማ፣ ኀጢአት ባልሆነባችሁ ነበር። ነገር ግን፣ ‘እናያለን’ ስለምትሉ፣ ኀጢአታችሁ እንዳለ ይኖራል።”BSBBSB: “If you were blind,” Jesus replied, “you would not be guilty of sin. But since you claim you can see, your guilt remains.”
