1 ULB ፋሲካ የተባለው የቂጣ በዓል ተቃርቦ ነበር። BSB BSB: Now the Feast of Unleavened Bread, called the Passover, was approaching,
2 ULB የካህናት አለቆችና የሕግ መምህራን ሕዝቡን ይፈሩ ስለ ነበር፣ ኢየሱስን እንዴት አድርገው እንደሚገድሉት ተመካከሩ። BSB BSB: and the chief priests and scribes were looking for a way to put Jesus to death, for they feared the people.
3 ULB ሰይጣን ከዐሥራ ሁለቱ አንዱ በሆነው በአስቆሮቱ ይሁዳ ገባበት። BSB BSB: Then Satan entered Judas Iscariot, who was one of the Twelve.
4 ULB አርሱም ኢየሱስን እንዴት አድርጎ አሳልፎ እንደሚሰጣቸው ከካህናት አለቆችና ከሕዝብ መሪዎች ጋር ተነጋገረ። BSB BSB: And Judas went to discuss with the chief priests and temple officers how he might betray Jesus to them.
5 ULB እነርሱም ደስ አላቸው፣ ገንዘብም ሊሰጡት ተስማሙ። BSB BSB: They were delighted and agreed to give him money.
6 ULB እርሱም ኢየሱስን ለእነርሱ አሳልፎ ለመስጠት ሕዝብ የሌሉበትን ምቹ ጊዜ ይፈልግ ነበር። BSB BSB: Judas consented, and began to look for an opportunity to betray Jesus to them in the absence of a crowd.
7 ULB የፋሲካ በግ መሥዋዕት የሚደረግበት የቂጣ በዓል ደረሰ። BSB BSB: Then came the day of Unleavened Bread on which the Passover lamb was to be sacrificed.
8 ULB ኢየሱስም ጴጥሮስንና ዮሐንስን፣ “ሂዱና የፋሲካ ምግብ እንድንበላ አዘጋጁልን” ብሎ ላካቸው። BSB BSB: Jesus sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and make preparations for us to eat the Passover.”
9 ULB እነርሱም፣ “የት እንድናዘጋጅልህ ትፈልጋለህ?” ብለው ጠየቁት። BSB BSB: “Where do You want us to prepare it?” they asked.
10 ULB እንዲህም ብሎ መለሰላቸው፣ “አድምጡ፣ ወደ ከተማው በገባችሁ ጊዜ የውሃ እንስራ ተሸክሞ የሚመጣ ሰው ያገኛችኋል። ይህን ሰው ወደሚገባበት ቤት ተከትላችሁ ግቡ። BSB BSB: He answered, “When you enter the city, a man carrying a jug of water will meet you. Follow him to the house he enters,
11 ULB ከዚያም ለቤቱ ባለቤት፣ 'መምህሩ እንዲህ ይልሃል፤" የፋሲካን እራት ከደቀ መዛሙርቴ ጋር የምበላበት የእንግዳ ክፍል የት ነው?' በሉት።” BSB BSB: and say to the owner of that house, ‘The Teacher asks: Where is the guest room, where I may eat the Passover with My disciples?’
12 ULB እርሱም በፎቁ ላይ ሰፊና በሚገባ የተሰናዳ ክፍል ያሳያችኋል። ዝግጅቱንም በዚያ አድርጉ። BSB BSB: And he will show you a large upper room, already furnished. Make preparations there.”
13 ULB ስለዚህ ወጥተው ሲሄዱ፣ ሁሉም ነገር እርሱ እንደተናገረው ሆኖ አገኙት። ከዚያም የፋሲካውን ምግብ አዘጋጁ። BSB BSB: So they went and found it just as Jesus had told them. And they prepared the Passover.
14 ULB ሰዓቱ ሲደርስ፣ ከደቀ መዛሙርቱ ጋር ዐብሮ ተቀመጠ። BSB BSB: When the hour had come, Jesus reclined at the table with His apostles.
16 ULB በእግዚአብሔር መንግሥት እስከሚፈጸም ድረስ ከዚህ ምግብ ዳግመኛ እንደማልበላ እነግራችኋለሁና።" BSB BSB: For I tell you that I will not eat it again until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.”
17 ULB ከዚያም ኢየሱስ ጽዋውን አንሥቶ አመሰገነና እንዲህ አላቸው፤ “ይህን ውሰዱና ተካፈሉት። BSB BSB: After taking the cup, He gave thanks and said, “Take this and divide it among yourselves.
18 ULB እላችኋለሁ፣ የእግዚአብሔር መንግሥት እስክትመጣ ድረስ ከዚህ ወይን ፍሬ ዳግመኛ አልጠጣም።” BSB BSB: For I tell you that I will not drink of the fruit of the vine from now on until the kingdom of God comes.”
19 ULB እንጀራውን ወሰደ፣ ካመሰገነ በኋላ እንዲህ በማለት ቈርሶ ሰጣቸው፣ “ይህ ለእናንተ የተሰጠው ሥጋዬ ነው። እኔን እያሰባችሁ ተመገቡት።” BSB BSB: And He took the bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body, given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.”
20 ULB በተመሳሳይ ሁኔታም፣ ከእራት በኋላ ጽዋውን አነሣና እንዲህ አለ፣ “ይህ ጽዋ ስለ እናንተ የፈሰሰ በደሜ የሚሆን ዐዲስ ኪዳን ነው። BSB BSB: In the same way, after supper He took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is poured out for you.
21 ULB ነገር ግን እኔን አሳልፎ የሚሰጠኝ ከእኔ ጋር በማዕድ እየበላ መሆኑን ልብ በሉ። BSB BSB: Look! The hand of My betrayer is with Mine on the table.
22 ULB የሰው ልጅስ እንደተወሰነለት ይሆናል። ነገር ግን አሳልፎ ለሚሰጠው ለዚያ ሰው ወዮለት!" BSB BSB: Indeed, the Son of Man will go as it has been determined, but woe to that man who betrays Him.”
23 ULB በዚህ ጊዜ እርስ በርሳቸው ይህን ነገር የሚያደርግ ማን እንደ ሆነ ተጠያየቁ። BSB BSB: Then they began to question among themselves which of them was going to do this.
24 ULB ከዚያም ከሁሉም የሚበልጥ ማን ሊሆን እንደሚገባው በመካከላቸው ጠብ ተነሣ። እርሱ እንዲህ አላቸው፣ BSB BSB: A dispute also arose among the disciples as to which of them should be considered the greatest.
25 ULB “የአሕዛብ ነገሥታት በሕዝብ ላይ ይገዛሉ፣ በእነርሱ ላይ ሥልጣን ያላቸውንም የተከበሩ ገዦች ይሏቸዋል። BSB BSB: So Jesus declared, “The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those in authority over them call themselves benefactors.
26 ULB ነገር ግን በእናንተ ዘንድ እንዲህ አይሁን። ይልቅ ከእናንተ ታላቅ የሆነ እንደ ታናሽ ይሁን። እጅግ ተፈላጊ የሆነ እንደሚያገለግል ሰው ይሁን። BSB BSB: But you shall not be like them. Instead, the greatest among you should be like the youngest, and the one who leads like the one who serves.
27 ULB በማዕድ ከተቀመጠውና ከሚያገለግለው የትኛው ታላቅ ነው? በማዕድ የተቀመጠ አይደለምን? እኔ ግን በእናንተ መካከል እንደሚያገለግል ሰው ነኝ። BSB BSB: For who is greater, the one who reclines at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who reclines? But I am among you as one who serves.
28 ULB ነገር ግን እናንተ በፈተናዬ ከእኔ ጋር ጸንታችኋል። አብ ለእኔ መንግሥትን እንደ ሰጠኝ፣ BSB BSB: You are the ones who have stood by Me in My trials.
29 ULB በመንግሥቴ በእኔ ማዕድ እንድትበሉና እንድትጠጡ መንግሥትን እሰጣችኋለሁ። BSB BSB: And I bestow on you a kingdom, just as My Father has bestowed one on Me,
30 ULB ደግሞም በዙፋን ተቀምጣችሁ በዐሥራ ሁለቱ የእስራኤል ነገዶች ላይ ትፈርዳላችሁ። BSB BSB: so that you may eat and drink at My table in My kingdom and sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
31 ULB ስምዖን ሆይ፣ ስምዖን ሆይ፣ ተጠንቀቅ፤ ሰይጣን እንደ ስንዴ ሊያበጥርህ ፈልጎ ጠይቋል። BSB BSB: Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift all of you like wheat.
32 ULB ነገር ግን እኔ እምነትህ እንዳይጠፋ ጸለይሁልህ። ዳግመኛ ከተመለስህ በኋላ ወንድሞችህን አበርታቸው።” BSB BSB: But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith will not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.”
33 ULB ጴጥሮስ፣ “ጌታ ሆይ፣ ወደ እስር ቤትም ይሁን ወደ ሞት ከአንተ ጋር ለመሄድ ዝግጁ ነኝ” አለው። BSB BSB: “Lord,” said Peter, “I am ready to go with You even to prison and to death.”
34 ULB ኢየሱስ፣ “ዛሬ ዶሮ ሳይጮኽ አላውቀውም ብለህ ሦስት ጊዜ እንደምትክደኝ እነግርሃለሁ” ብሎ መለሰለት። BSB BSB: But Jesus replied, “I tell you, Peter, the rooster will not crow today until you have denied three times that you know Me.”
37 ULB እላችኋለሁ፣ 'ከወንበዴዎች እንደ አንዱ ተቈጠረ' ተብሎ ስለ እኔ የተጻፈው መፈጸም አለበት። ይህ ስለ እኔ የተነገረው አሁን እየተፈጸመ ነው።" BSB BSB: For I tell you that this Scripture must be fulfilled in Me: ‘And He was numbered with the transgressors.’ For what is written about Me is reaching its fulfillment.”
38 ULB ከዚያም እነርሱ፣ “ጌታ ሆይ፣ ተመልከት፣ እዚህ ሁለት ጎራዴዎች አሉ” አሉት። እርሱም “ይበቃል” አላቸው። BSB BSB: So they said, “Look, Lord, here are two swords.” “That is enough,” He answered.
39 ULB ከእራት በኋላ ኢየሱስ ብዙ ጊዜ እንደሚያደርገው ወደ ደብረ ዘይት ተራራ ሄደ፣ ደቀ መዛሙርቱም ተከተሉት። BSB BSB: Jesus went out as usual to the Mount of Olives, and the disciples followed Him.
40 ULB እዚያ በደረሱ ጊዜ፣ “ወደ ፈተና እንዳትገቡ ጸልዩ” አላቸው። BSB BSB: When He came to the place, He told them, “Pray that you will not enter into temptation.”
41 ULB ከእነርሱ የድንጋይ ውርወራ ያህል ራቅ ብሎ ሄደና ተንበርክኮ፣ BSB BSB: And He withdrew about a stone’s throw beyond them, where He knelt down and prayed,
43 ULB የሚያበረታታው መልአክም ከሰማይ መጣለት። BSB BSB: Then an angel from heaven appeared to Him and strengthened Him.
44 ULB በጣር ውስጥ ሆኖ በጣም እየቃተተ ጸለየ፣ ላቡም እንደ ትልልቅ የደም ጠብታዎች ወደ መሬት ይንጠባጠብ ነበር። BSB BSB: And in His anguish, He prayed more earnestly, and His sweat became like drops of blood falling to the ground.
45 ULB ከጸሎቱ ተነሥቶ ወደ ደቀ መዛሙርቱ በመጣ ጊዜ ከሐዘን የተነሣ ተኝተው አገኛቸውና፣ BSB BSB: When Jesus rose from prayer and returned to the disciples, He found them asleep, exhausted from sorrow.
46 ULB “ለምን ትተኛላችሁ? ወደ ፈተና እንዳትገቡ ተነሡና ጸልዩ” አላቸው። BSB BSB: “Why are you sleeping?” He asked. “Get up and pray so that you will not enter into temptation.”
47 ULB ገና እየተናገረ እያለ ብዙ ሰዎች ከዐሥራ ሁለቱ አንዱ የሆነው ይሁዳ እየመራቸው መጡ። ይሁዳም ሊስመው ወደ ኢየሱስ ቀረበ፤ BSB BSB: While He was still speaking, a crowd arrived, led by the man called Judas, one of the Twelve. He approached Jesus to kiss Him.
48 ULB ነገር ግን ኢየሱስ፣ “ይሁዳ ሆይ፣ የሰውን ልጅ በመሳም አሳልፈህ ትሰጣለህን?” አለው። BSB BSB: But Jesus asked him, “Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?”
49 ULB በኢየሱስ ዙሪያ የነበሩት እየሆነ ያለውን ነገር ባዩ ጊዜ፣ BSB BSB: Those around Jesus saw what was about to happen and said, “Lord, should we strike with our swords?”
50 ULB “በጎራዴ እንምታቸውን?” አሉ። ከዚያም ከመካከላቸው አንዱ በጎራዴ የሊቀ ካህኑን አገልጋይ ቀኝ ጆሮ መታና ቈረጠው። BSB BSB: And one of them struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his right ear.
51 ULB ኢየሱስ፣ “ይህ ይብቃ” አለ። የአገልጋዩንም ጆሮ ዳሰሰ፣ ፈወሰውም። BSB BSB: But Jesus answered, “No more of this!” And He touched the man’s ear and healed him.
52 ULB ኢየሱስ ሊያጠቁት ለመጡ የካህናት አለቆችና የቤተ መቅደስ መሪዎች እንዲሁም ሽማግሌዎች እንዲህ አላቸው፤ “ወንበዴን እንደሚይዝ ሰው ጐራዴና ዱላ ይዛችሁ ትመጡብኛላችሁን? BSB BSB: Then Jesus said to the chief priests, temple officers, and elders who had come for Him, “Have you come out with swords and clubs as you would against an outlaw?
53 ULB በየዕለቱ በቤተ መቅደስ ከእናንተ ጋር ሳለሁ አልያዛችሁኝም። ነገር ግን ይህ የእናንተና የጨለማው ሥልጣን ጊዜ ነው።” BSB BSB: Every day I was with you in the temple courts, and you did not lay a hand on Me. But this hour belongs to you and to the power of darkness.”
54 ULB ያዙትና ወሰዱት፣ ወደ ሊቀ ካህናቱ ቤትም አመጡት። ጴጥሮስ ግን ከርቀት ተከተለው። BSB BSB: Then they seized Jesus, led Him away, and took Him into the house of the high priest. And Peter followed at a distance.
55 ULB በግቢው መሓል እሳት ካቀጣጠሉና ዐብረው ከተቀመጡ ጴጥሮስ መጥቶ በመካከላቸው ተቀመጠ። BSB BSB: When those present had kindled a fire in the middle of the courtyard and sat down together, Peter sat down among them.
56 ULB በእሳቱ ብርሃን እንደተቀመጠም አንዲት ገረድ አየችውና በቀጥታ ተመልክታው፣ “ይህ ሰው ደግሞ ከእርሱ ጋር ነበር” አለች። BSB BSB: A servant girl saw him seated in the firelight and looked intently at him. “This man also was with Him,” she said.
57 ULB ጴጥሮስ ግን፣ “ሴትዮ፣ የምትዪውን ሰው አላውቀውም” ብሎ ካደ። BSB BSB: But Peter denied it. “Woman, I do not know Him,” he said.
58 ULB ከጥቂት ጊዜ በኋላ ደግሞ፣ ሌላ ሰው አየውና፣ “አንተም ከእነርሱ አንዱ ነህ” አለው። ነገር ግን ጴጥሮስ፣ “አንተ ሰው፣ እኔ አይደለሁም” አለ። BSB BSB: A short time later, someone else saw him and said, “You also are one of them.” But Peter said, “Man, I am not.”
59 ULB ከአንድ ሰዓት ያህል ጊዜ በኋላ፣ ሌላ ሰው፣ “በእውነት ይህ ሰው ደግሞ ገሊላዊ ስለ ሆነ ከእርሱ ጋር ነበረ” በማለት በጥብቅ ተናገረ። BSB BSB: About an hour later, another man insisted, “Certainly this man was with Him, for he too is a Galilean.”
60 ULB ነገር ግን ጴጥሮስ፣ “አንተ ሰው የምትለውን አላውቅም” አለ። ይህን እየተናገረ እያለ ወዲያው ዶሮ ጮኸ። BSB BSB: “Man, I do not know what you are talking about,” Peter replied. And immediately, while he was still speaking, the rooster crowed.
61 ULB ጌታም ዞር አለና ጴጥሮስን ተመለከተው። ጴጥሮስም፣ ጌታ “ዛሬ ዶሮ ሳይጮኽ ሦስት ጊዜ ትክደኛለህ” ያለውን ቃል አስታወሰ። BSB BSB: And the Lord turned and looked at Peter. Then Peter remembered the word that the Lord had spoken to him: “Before the rooster crows today, you will deny Me three times.”
62 ULB ጴጥሮስ ወደ ውጭ ወጣና መራራ ልቅሶ አለቀሰ። BSB BSB: And he went outside and wept bitterly.
63 ULB ከዚያም ኢየሱስን ይጠብቁ የነበሩት ሰዎች እያላገጡበት ደበደቡት። ዐይኖቹን ከሸፈኑ በኋላ፣ BSB BSB: The men who were holding Jesus began to mock Him and beat Him.
64 ULB “እስቲ ትንቢት ተናገር። አሁን የመታህ ሰው ማን ነው?” በማለት ጠየቁት። BSB BSB: They blindfolded Him and kept demanding, “Prophesy! Who hit You?”
65 ULB እየተሳደቡ፣ ሌሎች ብዙ ነገሮችን በኢየሱስ ላይ ተናገሩ። BSB BSB: And they said many other blasphemous things against Him.
66 ULB እንደነጋም የሕዝቡ ሽማግሌዎች፣ ከካህናት አለቆችና ከሕግ መምህራን ጋር ዐብረው ተሰበሰቡ። ከዚያም ኢየሱስን ወደ ሸንጎው ፊት አቀረቡትና፣ BSB BSB: At daybreak the council of the elders of the people, both the chief priests and scribes, met together. They led Jesus into their Sanhedrin and said,
67 ULB “ክርስቶስ ከሆንህ ንገረን” አሉት። እርሱ ግን፣ “እኔ ብነግራችሁ አታምኑም፣ BSB BSB: “If You are the Christ, tell us.” Jesus answered, “If I tell you, you will not believe.
68 ULB ደግሞም ብጠይቃችሁ አትመልሱም። BSB BSB: And if I ask you a question, you will not answer.
69 ULB ነገር ግን ከአሁን ጀምሮ የሰው ልጅ በእግዚአብሔር ኅይል ቀኝ ይቀመጣል” አላቸው። BSB BSB: But from now on the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the power of God.”
70 ULB ሁሉም በአንድነት፣ “እንግዲህ አንተ የእግዚአብሔር ልጅ ነሃ?” አሉት። ኢየሱስም፣ “እኔ እንደ ሆንሁ እናንተ ትናገራላችሁ” አላቸው። እነርሱ፣ BSB BSB: So they all asked, “Are You then the Son of God?” He replied, “You say that I am.”
71 ULB “እንግዲህ ለምን ምስክር እንፈልጋለን? ሲናገር እኛ ራሳችን ከአፉ ሰምተነዋል” አሉ። BSB BSB: “Why do we need any more testimony?” they declared. “We have heard it for ourselves from His own lips.”
