1 ULB ጥበበኛ ልጅ የአባቱን ምክር ይሰማል፣ ፌዘኛ ግን ተግሳጽን አያዳምጥም፡፡ BSB BSB: A wise son heeds his father’s discipline, but a mocker does not listen to rebuke.
2 ULB ሰው ከአፉ ፍሬ መልካምን ነገር ይጠግባል፣ ጠማማ ሰው ግን ዓመጽን ይመኛል፡፡ BSB BSB: From the fruit of his lips a man enjoys good things, but the desire of the faithless is violence.
3 ULB አፉን የሚጠብቅ ሕይወቱን ይጠብቃል፣ ከንፈሮቹን ያለ ልክ የሚከፍት ግን ይጠፋል፡፡ BSB BSB: He who guards his mouth protects his life, but the one who opens his lips invites his own ruin.
4 ULB ሰነፍ ሰው ይመኛል ነገር ግን አንዳችም አያገኝም፣ የትጉ ሰው ምኞት ግን በሙላት ይረካል፡፡ BSB BSB: The slacker craves yet has nothing, but the soul of the diligent is fully satisfied.
5 ULB ጽድቅን የሚያደርግ ሰው ውሸትን ይጠላል፣ ክፉ ሰው ግን ራሱ ጥላቻን ይፈጥራል፣ አሳፋሪ ተግባርንም ይፈጽማል፡፡ BSB BSB: The righteous hate falsehood, but the wicked bring shame and disgrace.
6 ULB በመንገዳቸው ያለ ነቀፋ የሚሄዱትን ጽድቅ ትጠብቃቸዋለች፣ ክፋት ግን ኃጢአተኞችን ትጥላቸዋለች፡፡ BSB BSB: Righteousness guards the man of integrity, but wickedness undermines the sinner.
7 ULB ራሱን ባለጠጋ የሚያስመስል ሰው አለ፣ ነገር ግን አንዳች የለውም፣ ምንም እንደሌለው መስሎ የሚታይ ሰው ደግሞ አለ፣ ይሁን እንጂ እጅግ ባለጠጋ ነው፡፡ BSB BSB: One pretends to be rich, but has nothing; another pretends to be poor, yet has great wealth.
8 ULB ባለጠጋ ሰው ሀብቱን ለሕይወቱ ቤዛ አድርጎ ያቀርብ ይሆናል፣ ድሀ ግን እንዲህ ዓይነት ሥጋት በፍጹም የለበትም፡፡ BSB BSB: Riches may ransom a man’s life, but a poor man hears no threat.
9 ULB ጽድቅን የሚያደርግ ሰው ብርሃን ደምቆ ይበራል፣ የክፉዎች መብራት ግን ይጠፋል፡፡ BSB BSB: The light of the righteous shines brightly, but the lamp of the wicked is extinguished.
10 ULB ትዕቢት ጠብን ብቻ ያስፋፋል፣ መልካም ምክርን ለሚያደምጡ ግን ጥበብ አለ፡፡ BSB BSB: Arrogance leads only to strife, but wisdom is with the well-advised.
11 ULB ብዙ ከንቱነት ሲኖር ሀብት እየመነመነ ያልቃል፣ በእጁ እየሰራ ገንዘብ የሚያከማች ሰው ግን ገንዘቡ እየጨመረ እንዲሄድ ያደርጋል፡፡ BSB BSB: Dishonest wealth will dwindle, but what is earned through hard work will be multiplied.
12 ULB ተስፋ ሲዘገይ ልብን ይሰብራል፣ የተሳካ ምኞት ግን የሕይወት ዛፍ ነው፡፡ BSB BSB: Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but desire fulfilled is a tree of life.
13 ULB ትእዛዝን የሚንቅ በትእዛዝ ይቀጣል፣ ትእዛዝን የሚያከብር ግን ወሮታን ያገኛል፡፡ BSB BSB: He who despises instruction will pay the penalty, but the one who respects a command will be rewarded.
14 ULB የጥበበኛ ሰው ትምህርት የሕይወት ምንጭ ነው፣ ከሞት ወጥመድ እንድታመልጥ ያደርግሃል፡፡ BSB BSB: The teaching of the wise is a fountain of life, turning one from the snares of death.
15 ULB መልካም እውቀት ሞገስ ያስገኛል፣ የከዳተኛ ሰው መንገድ ግን አያልቅም፡፡ BSB BSB: Good understanding wins favor, but the way of the faithless is difficult.
16 ULB ጥንቃቄ የተሞሉ ሰዎች ማንኛውንም ውሳኔ የሚያደርጉት በጥበብ ነው፣ ሞኝ ግን ከንቱነቱን ይገልጣል፡፡ BSB BSB: Every prudent man acts with knowledge, but a fool displays his folly.
17 ULB ክፉ መልእክተኛ መከራ ውስጥ ይገባል፣ ታማኝ መልእክተኛ ግን እርቅን ያመጣል፡፡ BSB BSB: A wicked messenger falls into trouble, but a faithful envoy brings healing.
18 ULB ተግሳጽን የሚንቅ ድህነትና ኃፍረት ይመጣበታል፣ ከእርምት የሚማር ግን ክብር ወደ እርሱ ይመጣል፡፡ BSB BSB: Poverty and shame come to him who ignores discipline, but whoever heeds correction is honored.
19 ULB ምኞት ሲፈጸም የውስጥ ፍላጎትን ደስ ያሰኛል፣ ሞኞች ግን ከክፋት መመለስን ይጠላሉ፡፡ BSB BSB: Desire fulfilled is sweet to the soul, but turning from evil is detestable to fools.
20 ULB ከጥበበኞች ጋር ሂድ አንተም ጥበበኛ ትሆናለህ፣ የሞኞች ባልንጀራ ግን እጅግ ይጎዳል፡፡ BSB BSB: He who walks with the wise will become wise, but the companion of fools will be destroyed.
21 ULB መቅሰፍት ኃጢአተኞችን ይከታተላቸዋል፣ ጽድቅን የሚያደርጉ ግን መልካምን ነገር ይቀበላሉ፡፡ BSB BSB: Disaster pursues sinners, but prosperity is the reward of the righteous.
22 ULB መልካም ሰው ለልጅ ልጆቹ የሚያወርሰውን ይተዋል፣ የኃጢአተኛ ሀብት ግን ጽድቅን ለሚያደርጉ ይከማቻል፡፡ BSB BSB: A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children, but the sinner’s wealth is passed to the righteous.
23 ULB የድሆች እርሻ ያልታረሰም ቢሆን ብዙ ምግብ ሊያመርት ይችላል፣ ነገር ግን በፍትህ መጓደል ምክንያት ተጠራርጎ ይወሰዳል፡፡ BSB BSB: Abundant food is in the fallow ground of the poor, but without justice it is swept away.
24 ULB ልጁን የማይቀጣ ይጠላዋል፣ ልጁን የሚወድ ግን በጥንቃቄ ይቀጣዋል፡፡ BSB BSB: He who spares the rod hates his son, but he who loves him disciplines him diligently.
25 ULB ጽድቅን የሚያደርግ ሰው ፍላጎቱን እስከሚያረካ ድረስ ጠግቦ ይበላል፣ የክፉዎች ሆድ ግን ሁልጊዜ እንደተራበ ነው፡፡ BSB BSB: A righteous man eats to his heart’s content, but the stomach of the wicked is empty.
