1 PBDK Inilah kaawe hante kasih sa na karuniakan Bapa gi takam sehingga takam sa sebut anak-anak Allah, dan memang takam na sebut anak-anak Allah. Ulah gana hio, dunia bakoi mengenal takam ulah dunia bakoi mengenal Aye. BSB BSB: Behold what manner of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God. And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know Him.
2 PBDK Pulaksanai ku sa na kasihi, wayah ina takam ialah anak-anak Allah, akan tatapi kala awe keadaan takam nanti bakoi tampak, Tapi, takam kataru bahwa ketika Ia hawi, takam, akan jadi seperti Aye ulah takam akan ngini Aye dalam keadaan-Nya sa nyata. Erang kaulun sa naan pengharapan ina tahuang Kristus, Aye sa menycikan dininya, sameh ayelah Kristus suci. BSB BSB: Beloved, we are now children of God, and what we will be has not yet been revealed. We know that when Christ appears, we will be like Him, for we will see Him as He is.
4 PBDK Erang ka ulun sa melakukan dosa juga melanggar hukum ulah dosa ayelah pelanggaran teerhadap hukum. BSB BSB: Everyone who practices sin practices lawlessness as well. Indeed, sin is lawlessness.
5 PBDK Hanyu kataru bahwa Kristus na nyatakan mat nampa hapus dosa, dan tahuang Aye bakoi naan dosa. BSB BSB: But you know that Christ appeared to take away sins, and in Him there is no sin.
6 PBDK Erang kaulun sa muneng tahuang Aye bakoi berbuat dosa; bakoi naan kaulun pun sa badosa sa haot ngini atawa kataru gi Aye. BSB BSB: No one who remains in Him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has seen Him or known Him.
7 PBDK Anak-anakku, ada hanyu membiarkan erangf kaulun pun nasantawang hanyu. Ulun sa ngaraja kebenaran ayelah ulun benar, sameh ayelah Kristus ayelah sa bujur. BSB BSB: Little children, let no one deceive you: The one who practices righteousness is righteous, just as Christ is righteous.
8 PBDK Ulun sa ngaraja dosa ba asal teka setan ulah gana setan haot badosa teke awal. Anak Allah haot hawi mat tujuan ina; menghancurkan perbuatan-perbuatan setan. BSB BSB: The one who practices sin is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the very start. This is why the Son of God was revealed, to destroy the works of the devil.
9 PBDK Bakoi erang kaulun pun sahawi teka Allah Ta'ala berbuat dosa ulah gana benih Allah Ta'ala muneng tahuang dirinya; dan aye bakoi tau berbuat dosa ulah aye haot dilahirkan teke Allah. BSB BSB: Anyone born of God refuses to practice sin, because God’s seed abides in him; he cannot go on sinning, because he has been born of God.
10 PBDK Dengan demikian, hiyekah anak-anak Allah dan hiyekah anak-anak Iblis jari haot jelas. Ulun sa bakoi ngaraja kebenaran bakoi baasal neke Allah, demikian juga ulun sa bakoi mengasihi pulaksanai ni. BSB BSB: By this the children of God are distinguished from the children of the devil: Anyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is anyone who does not love his brother.
11 PBDK Ulah, inalah berita sa haot hanyu sanrengei teka awal, yaitu takam harus saling mengasihi. BSB BSB: This is the message you have heard from the beginning: We should love one another.
12 PBDK Jangan hanyu jari Kain, sa ba asal teke sa jahat dan sa membunuh adiknta. Dan, ulah inaon kain membuhun adiknya? Ulah, gawi sa jahat dan gawi adiknya sa bujur. BSB BSB: Do not be like Cain, who belonged to the evil one and murdered his brother. And why did Cain slay him? Because his own deeds were evil, while those of his brother were righteous.

15 PBDK Erang kaulun sa membenci pulaksanai ni ayelah ulun pembunuh, dan kanyu kataru bahwa bakoi naan pembunuh sa mempunyai welum kekal tahuang diri ni. BSB BSB: Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that eternal life does not reside in a murderer.
16 PBDK Sameh inalah takam mengenal kasih; Yesus Kristus haot menyerahkan welum Ni gi takam. Jadi, takam jua harus menyerahkan welum takam mat pulaksanai takam. BSB BSB: By this we know what love is: Jesus laid down His life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers.
17 PBDK Namun, apabila ulun me iliki harta duniawi dan ngini pulaksanai ni sedang membutuhkan, tatapi menutup atei ni tahadap pulaksanai ni, kala awe kasih Allah tau naan tahuang ateini? BSB BSB: If anyone with earthly possessions sees his brother in need, but withholds his compassion from him, how can the love of God abide in him?
18 PBDK Anak-anak ku, marilah takam mengasihi bakoi nihi kata-kata atawa lidah, melainkan nihi perbuatan dan kebenaran. BSB BSB: Little children, let us love not in word and speech, but in action and truth.
19 PBDK Dengan ina, takam akan kataru bahwa takam baasal neke kebebenaran dan takam akan meneguhkan atei takam ta hadapan Allah Ta'ala. BSB BSB: And by this we will know that we belong to the truth, and will assure our hearts in His presence:
20 PBDK Sebab, apabila atei takam nampahala takam, Allah lebih hante dari pada atei takam, dan Aye karasa kaluhan hal. BSB BSB: Even if our hearts condemn us, God is greater than our hearts, and He knows all things.
21 PBDK Pulaksanai ku sa kukasihi, amun atei takam bakoi nampahala takam, takam memiliki keyakinan diri ta hadapan Allah Ta'ala. BSB BSB: Beloved, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God,
22 PBDK Inon pun sa takam minta, takam narime teke Allah ulah takam menuruti perintah-perintan-Nya dan ngaraja inon sa berkenan kepada Aye. BSB BSB: and we will receive from Him whatever we ask, because we keep His commandments and do what is pleasing in His sight.
23 PBDK Dan, inalah perintah Allah Ta'ala, yaitu mat takam percaya tahuang aran Anak-ni, Yesus Kristus, dan takam saling mengasihi kala awe sa haot Na perintahkan gi takam. BSB BSB: And this is His commandment: that we should believe in the name of His Son, Jesus Christ, and we should love one another just as He commanded us.
24 PBDK Ulun sa menaati perintah-perintah Allah muneng tahuang Aye. Dengan ina takam kataru bahwa Allah muneng tahuang diri takam, oleh Roh Allah sa Allah karuniakan gi takam. BSB BSB: Whoever keeps His commandments remains in God, and God in him. And by this we know that He remains in us: by the Spirit He has given us.
