1 ULB পরে তারা সবাই উঠে যীশুকে পীলাতের কাছে নিয়ে গেল। BSB BSB: Then the whole council rose and led Jesus away to Pilate.
2 ULB আর তারা তাঁর উপরে দোষ দিয়ে বলতে লাগল, আমরা দেখতে পেলাম যে, এই ব্যক্তি আমাদের জাতিকে বিপথে নিয়ে যাচ্ছে, কৈসরকে কর দিতে বারণ করে, আর বলে যে, আমি সেই খ্রীষ্ট রাজা। BSB BSB: And they began to accuse Him, saying, “We found this man subverting our nation, forbidding payment of taxes to Caesar, and proclaiming Himself to be Christ, a King.”
3 ULB তখন পীলাত তাঁকে জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন, তুমিই কি ইহূদিদের রাজা? যীশু তাঁকে বললেন, তুমিই বললে। BSB BSB: So Pilate asked Him, “Are You the King of the Jews?” “You have said so,” Jesus replied.
4 ULB তখন পীলাত প্রধান যাজকদের ও লোকদের উদ্দেশ্যে বললেন, আমি এই ব্যক্তির কোনো দোষ পাচ্ছি না। BSB BSB: Then Pilate said to the chief priests and the crowds, “I find no basis for a charge against this man.”
5 ULB কিন্তু তারা আরও জোর করে বলতে লাগল, এ ব্যক্তি সমস্ত যিহূদিয়ায় এবং গালীল থেকে এই জায়গা পর্যন্ত শিক্ষা দিয়ে লোকদের ক্ষেপিয়ে তুলছে। BSB BSB: But they kept insisting, “He stirs up the people all over Judea with His teaching. He began in Galilee and has come all the way here.”
6 ULB এই শুনে পীলাত জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন, এ ব্যক্তি কি গালীলীয়? BSB BSB: When Pilate heard this, he asked if the man was a Galilean.
7 ULB পরে যখন তিনি জানতে পারলেন, ইনি হেরোদের রাজ্যের লোক, তখন তাঁকে হেরোদের কাছে পাঠিয়ে দিলেন, কারণ সেই সময় তিনি যিরুশালেমে ছিলেন। BSB BSB: And learning that Jesus was under Herod’s jurisdiction, he sent Him to Herod, who himself was in Jerusalem at that time.
8 ULB যীশুকে দেখে হেরোদ খুব আনন্দিত হলেন, কারণ তিনি তাঁর বিষয়ে শুনেছিলেন, এই অনেকদিন থেকে তাঁকে দেখতে ইচ্ছা করেছিলেন এবং তাঁর অলৌকিক কোনো চিহ্ন দেখবার আশা করতে লাগলেন। BSB BSB: When Herod saw Jesus, he was greatly pleased. He had wanted to see Him for a long time, because he had heard about Him and was hoping to see Him perform a miracle.
9 ULB তিনি তাঁকে অনেক কথা জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন, কিন্তু যীশু তাকে কোনো উত্তর দিলেন না। BSB BSB: Herod questioned Jesus at great length, but He gave no answer.
10 ULB আর প্রধান যাজকরা ও ধর্মশিক্ষকেরা দাঁড়িয়ে প্রবলভাবে তাঁর উপরে দোষারোপ করছিল। BSB BSB: Meanwhile, the chief priests and scribes stood there, vehemently accusing Him.
11 ULB আর হেরোদ ও তাঁর সেনারা তাঁকে তুচ্ছ করলেন ও ঠাট্টা করলেন এবং দামী পোষাক পরিয়ে তাঁকে পীলাতের কাছে পাঠিয়ে দিলেন। BSB BSB: And even Herod and his soldiers ridiculed and mocked Him. Dressing Him in a fine robe, they sent Him back to Pilate.
12 ULB সেই দিন থেকে হেরোদ ও পীলাত দুজনে বন্ধু হয়ে উঠলেন, কারণ আগে তাদের মধ্যে শত্রুতা ছিল। BSB BSB: That day Herod and Pilate became friends; before this time they had been enemies.
13 ULB পরে পীলাত প্রধান যাজকরা, তত্ত্বাবধায়ক ও লোকদের একসঙ্গে ডেকে তাদের বললেন, BSB BSB: Then Pilate called together the chief priests, the rulers, and the people,
14 ULB তোমরা এ ব্যক্তিকে আমার কাছে এই বলে এনেছ যে, এ লোককে বিপথে নিয়ে যায়; আর দেখ, আমি তোমাদের সামনে বিচার করলেও, তোমরা এর উপরে যেসব দোষ দিচ্ছ, তার মধ্যে এই ব্যক্তির কোনো দোষ দেখতে পেলাম না। BSB BSB: and said to them, “You brought me this man as one who was inciting the people to rebellion. I have examined Him here in your presence and found Him not guilty of your charges against Him.
15 ULB আর হেরোদও পাননি, কারণ তিনি একে আমাদের কাছে পাঠিয়ে দিয়েছেন; আর দেখ, এ ব্যক্তি প্রাণদণ্ডের যোগ্য কিছুই করে নি। BSB BSB: Neither has Herod, for he sent Him back to us. As you can see, He has done nothing deserving of death.
16 ULB অতএব আমি একে শাস্তি দিয়ে ছেড়ে দেব। BSB BSB: Therefore I will punish Him and release Him.”
17 ULB (ঐ পর্বের সময় তাদের জন্য এক জনকে ছেড়ে দিতেই হত।) BSB BSB: Not in the BSB
18 ULB কিন্তু তারা দলবদ্ধ হয়ে সবাই চিৎকার করে বলল, একে দূর কর, আমাদের জন্য বারাব্বাকে ছেড়ে দাও। BSB BSB: But they all cried out in unison: “Away with this man! Release Barabbas to us!”
19 ULB শহরের মধ্যে দাঙ্গা ও মানুষ হত্যার দায়ে সেই ব্যক্তি কারাবদ্ধ হয়েছিল। BSB BSB: (Barabbas had been imprisoned for an insurrection in the city, and for murder.)
20 ULB পরে পীলাত যীশুকে মুক্ত করবার ইচ্ছায় আবার তাদের কাছে কথা বললেন। BSB BSB: Wanting to release Jesus, Pilate addressed them again,
21 ULB কিন্তু তারা চেঁচিয়ে বলতে লাগল, ক্রুশে দাও, ওকে ক্রুশে দাও। BSB BSB: but they kept shouting, “Crucify Him! Crucify Him!”
22 ULB পরে তিনি তৃতীয় বার তাদের বললেন, কেন? এ কি অপরাধ করেছে? আমি মৃত্যু দণ্ডের যোগ্য কোনো দোষই পাইনি। অতএব একে শাস্তি দিয়ে ছেড়ে দেব। BSB BSB: A third time he said to them, “What evil has this man done? I have found in Him no offense worthy of death. So after I punish Him, I will release Him.”
23 ULB কিন্তু তারা খুব জোরে বলতে লাগল, যেন তাকে ক্রুশে দেওয়া হয়; আর তারা আরো জোরে চিৎকার করল। BSB BSB: But they were insistent, demanding with loud voices for Jesus to be crucified. And their clamor prevailed.
24 ULB তখন পীলাত তাদের বিচার অনুসারে করতে আদেশ দিলেন; BSB BSB: So Pilate sentenced that their demand be met.
25 ULB দাঙ্গা ও মানুষ হত্যার দায়ে কারাবদ্ধ যে ব্যক্তিকে তারা চাইল, তিনি তাকে ছেড়ে দিলেন, কিন্তু যীশুকে তাদের ইচ্ছায় সমপর্ন করলেন। BSB BSB: As they had requested, he released the one imprisoned for insurrection and murder, and he handed Jesus over to their will.

27 ULB আর অনেক লোক তাঁর পিছন পিছন চলল; এবং অনেকগুলি স্ত্রীলোক ছিল, তারা তাঁর জন্য হাহাকার ও কান্নাকাটি করছিলেন। BSB BSB: A great number of people followed Him, including women who kept mourning and wailing for Him.
28 ULB কিন্তু যীশু তাদের দিকে ফিরে বললেন, "ওগো যিরুশালেমের মেয়েরা, আমার জন্য কেঁদো না, বরং নিজেদের এবং নিজের নিজের সন্তানদের জন্য কাঁদ।" BSB BSB: But Jesus turned to them and said, “Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for Me, but weep for yourselves and for your children.
29 ULB কারণ দেখ, এমন সময় আসছে যেসময় লোকে বলবে, ধন্য সেই স্ত্রীলোকেরা, যারা বন্ধ্যা, যাদের গর্ভ কখনো সন্তান প্রসব করে নি, যাদের স্তন কখনো শিশুদের পান করায়নি। BSB BSB: Look, the days are coming when people will say, ‘Blessed are the barren women, the wombs that never bore, and breasts that never nursed!’
30 ULB সেই সময় লোকেরা পর্বতগণকে বলতে শুরু করবে, আমাদের উপরে পড়; এবং পাহাড়গুলোকে বলবে, আমাদের ঢেকে রাখো। BSB BSB: At that time ‘they will say to the mountains, “Fall on us!” and to the hills, “Cover us!”’
31 ULB কারণ লোকেরা সরস গাছের প্রতি যদি এমন করে, তবে শুকনো গাছে কি না ঘটবে? BSB BSB: For if men do these things while the tree is green, what will happen when it is dry?”
32 ULB আরও দুজন অপরাধীকে মৃত্যুদণ্ড দেবার জন্য তাঁর সঙ্গে নিয়ে যাওয়া হচ্ছিল। BSB BSB: Two others, who were criminals, were also led away to be executed with Jesus.
35 ULB লোকেরা দাঁড়িয়ে দেখছিল। ইহূদি শাসকেরা তাঁকে ব্যঙ্গ করে বলতে লাগল, ওই ব্যক্তি অন্য লোককে রক্ষা করত, যদি তিনি ঈশ্বরের সেই মনোনীত খ্রীষ্ট, তবে নিজেকে রক্ষা করুক, BSB BSB: The people stood watching, and the rulers sneered at Him, saying, “He saved others; let Him save Himself if He is the Christ of God, the Chosen One.”
36 ULB আর সেনারাও তাঁকে ঠাট্টা করল, তাঁর কাছে অম্লরশ নিয়ে বলতে লাগল, BSB BSB: The soldiers also mocked Him and came up to offer Him sour wine.
37 ULB তুমি যদি ইহূদিদের রাজা হও, তবে নিজেকে রক্ষা কর, BSB BSB: “If You are the King of the Jews,” they said, “save Yourself!”
38 ULB আর তাঁর উপরে ফলকে এই লেখা ছিল, "এ ইহূদিদের রাজা।" BSB BSB: Above Him was posted an inscription: THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
39 ULB আর যে দুজন অপরাধীকে ক্রুশে ঝোলানো হয়েছিল, তাদের মধ্যে একজন খ্রীষ্টকে নিন্দা করে বলতে লাগল, তুমি নাকি সেই খ্রীষ্ট? নিজেকে ও আমাদের রক্ষা কর। BSB BSB: One of the criminals who hung there heaped abuse on Him. “Are You not the Christ?” he said. “Save Yourself and us!”
40 ULB কিন্তু অন্যজন উত্তর দিয়ে তাকে ধমক দিয়ে বলল, তুমি কি ঈশ্বরকে ভয় কর না? তুমিও তো একই শাস্তি পাচ্ছ। BSB BSB: But the other one rebuked him, saying, “Do you not even fear God, since you are under the same judgment?
41 ULB আর আমরা যে শাস্তি পাচ্ছি তা ন্যায্য; কারণ যা যা করেছি, তারই যোগ্য শাস্তি পাচ্ছি; কিন্তু ইনি অন্যায় কাজ কিছুই করেননি। BSB BSB: We are punished justly, for we are receiving what our actions deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong.”
44 ULB তখন বেলা প্রায় বারোটা আর তিনটা পর্যন্ত সারা দেশ অন্ধকারময় হয়ে থাকল। BSB BSB: It was now about the sixth hour, and darkness came over all the land until the ninth hour.
45 ULB সূর্য্যের আলো থাকলো না, আর মন্দিরের পর্দাটা মাঝামাঝি চিরে ভাগ হয়ে গেল। BSB BSB: The sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was torn down the middle.
46 ULB আর যীশু খুব জোরে চিৎকার করে বললেন, পিতা, তোমার হাতে আমার আত্মা সমর্পণ করলাম; আর এই বলে তিনি প্রাণ ত্যাগ করলেন। BSB BSB: Then Jesus called out in a loud voice, “Father, into Your hands I commit My Spirit.” And when He had said this, He breathed His last.
47 ULB যা ঘটল, তা দেখে শতপতি ঈশ্বরের গৌরব করে বললেন, সত্যিই, এই ব্যক্তি ধার্মিক ছিলেন। BSB BSB: When the centurion saw what had happened, he gave glory to God, saying, “Surely this was a righteous man.”
48 ULB আর যেসব লোক এই দৃশ্য দেখার জন্য এসেছিল, তারা এই সব দেখে বুক চাপড়াতে চাপড়াতে ফিরে গেল। BSB BSB: And when all the people who had gathered for this spectacle saw what had happened, they returned home beating their breasts.

53 ULB পরে তা নামিয়ে ঐ চাদরে জড়ালেন এবং পাথর দিয়ে তৈরী এক কবরের মধ্যে তাকে রাখলেন, যাতে কখনো কাউকে রাখা হয়নি। BSB BSB: Then he took it down, wrapped it in a linen cloth, and placed it in a tomb cut into the rock, where no one had yet been laid.

55 ULB আর যে স্ত্রীলোকেরা তাঁর সাথে গালীল থেকে এসেছিলেন, তারা পিছন পিছন গিয়ে সেই কবর এবং কীভাবে তাঁর মৃতদেহ রাখা যায়, তা দেখলেন; BSB BSB: The women who had come with Jesus from Galilee followed, and they saw the tomb and how His body was placed.
56 ULB পরে ফিরে গিয়ে সুগন্ধি দ্রব্য ও তেল প্রস্তুত করলেন। তখন তাঁরা ঈশ্বরের আদেশ অনুযায়ী বিশ্রামবারে বিশ্রাম নিলেন। BSB BSB: Then they returned to prepare spices and perfumes. And they rested on the Sabbath, according to the commandment.
