Matthew 14 (GOFE)

1ሄ ዎደ ጋልላ አይስያ ሄሮዲስ የሱሳባ ስእስ።At that time Herod the tetrarch heard the reports about Jesus

2ባ አይለታኮ፥ “ሀይስ ፃማቅያ ዮሃንሳ፤ እ ሀይቆፐ ደንድስ። ያንዳ ግሾ፥ ሀ ኡባ ማላታታ እ ኦꬄስ” ያግስ።and said to his servants, “This is John the Baptist; he has risen from the dead! That is why miraculous powers are at work in him.”

3እ ሄሳ ግዳይ ሄሮዲስ ባ እሻ ፍልጶሳ ማቸ ሄሮድያድ ጋሶን ዮሃንሳ ቃሾ ኬꬅ ገልስዳ ግሾሳ።Now Herod had arrested John and bound him and put him in prison on account of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife,

4ዮሃንስ ሄሮዲሳ፥ “ነ እዮ ኤካናዉ ዎጋ ግደና” ያግስ።because John had been telling him, “It is not lawful for you to have her.”

5ሄሮዲስ ዮሃንሳ ዎꬋናዉ ኮይስ፥ ሽን ደረይ ዮሃንሳ ናበ ኦꬅድ በእያ ግሾ ያሸትስ።Although Herod wanted to kill John, he was afraid of the people, because they regarded John as a prophet.

6ሄሮዲስ ባ የለትዳ ጋላሳ ቦንችያ ዎደ፥ ሄሮድያዳ ናእያ አሳ ስንꬃን የꬃን ዱራዳ እያ ኡፋይሳሱ።On Herod’s birthday, however, the daughter of Herodias danced before them and pleased Herod

7ያትን፥ እ፥ “እያ ኮያባ ኡባ እማና ግድ” ጫቅስ።so much that he promised with an oath to give to her whatever she asked.

8ናእያ ባ አየ ዞርያ ስአዳ ሄሮዲሳኮ፥ “ፃማቅያ ዮሃንሳ ሁጵያ ከረን ዎꬃዳ ታዉ እማ” ያጋሱ።Prompted by her mother, she said, “Give me here on a platter the head of John the Baptist.”

9እያ ያግን ካዎይ ቂሮትስ፥ ሽን ባ ጫቁዋ ግሾነ ባራ ደእያ እማꬃታ ግሾ ግድ እ ኦይሻይ ፖለታና መላ ኪትስ።The king was grieved, but because of his oaths and his guests, he ordered that her wish be granted

10ካዎይ አሰ ኪትድ ዮሃንስ ቃሾ ኬꬃን ደእሽን እያ ቆꬍያ ጎራእስስ።and sent to have John beheaded in the prison.

11ሁጵያ ከረን ዎꬅ ኤህድ ናኤስ እምዶሶና፤ ናእያካ ኤካዳ ባ አየስ ኤፋሱ።John’s head was brought in on a platter and presented to the girl, who carried it to her mother.

12ዮሃንሳ ታማረት ይድ እያ አሀ ኤፍድ ሞግዶሶና። እያፐ ጉየ ሀንዳባ ኡባ ብድ የሱሳስ ኦድዶሶና።Then John’s disciples came and took his body and buried it. And they went and informed Jesus.

13የሱሲ ሀንዳባ ስእዳ ዎደ ዎጎሎን ገልድ ሄ በሳፈ እስ ጌምያ ሶ ባርካ ብስ። አሳይ ሄሳ ስእድ ካታማታፐ ደንድድ ቶሆን እያ ካልዶሶና።When Jesus heard about John, He withdrew by boat privately to a solitary place. But the crowds found out about it and followed Him on foot from the towns.

14የሱሲ ዎጎሉዋፐ ዎꬍድ ዳሮ አሳ በእድ ኤንታዉ ቃትስ። ኤንታ ግዶን ደእያ ሀርጋንቾታ ፓꬅስ።When He stepped ashore and saw a large crowd, He had compassion on them and healed their sick.

15ሳአይ ኦማርስሸ ብያ ዎደ የሱሳ ታማረት እያኮ ሺቅድ፥ “ሀ በሳይ አስ ባይና በሲ፥ ሳእካ ቃምስ። ያንያ ግሾ፥ ሄራን ደእያ ጉታታ ብድ ባንታዉ ሻምድ ማና መላ ደርያ የዳ” ያግዶሶና።When evening came, the disciples came to Him and said, “This is a desolate place, and the hour is already late. Dismiss the crowds so they can go to the villages and buy themselves some food.”

16ሽን የሱሲ ኤንታኮ፥ “ደረይ ሞና ባናዉ ኮሸና፤ ኤንቲ ማናባ ህንተ እምተ” ያግስ።“They do not need to go away,” Jesus replied. “You give them something to eat.”

17ኤንቲ ዛሪድ፥ “ኑስ ሀይሳን እቻሹ ኡይꬃፈነ ናምኡ ሞሎፐ ሀር ባዋ” ያግዶሶና።“We have here only five loaves of bread and two fish,” they answered.

18እካ፥ “አነ ኤንታ ሃ ኤህተ” ያግስ።“Bring them here to Me,” Jesus said.

19ካልድካ፥ ደረይ ማታን ኡታና መላ ኦድስ። እቻሹ ኡይꬃነ ናምኡ ሞሎታ ኤክድ፥ ሳሎ ፄልድ ጋላት ስሚድ፥ ኡይꬃ መንꬅድ ባ ታማረታስ እሚስ፤ ኤንቲ ቃስ ደርያስ እምዶሶና።And He directed the crowds to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, He spoke a blessing. Then He broke the loaves and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people.

20ኡባይ ምድ ካልዶሶና። የሱሳ ታማረት ምሽን አትዳይሳ ታማነ ናምኡ ጋይታ ደንꬅዶሶና።They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over.

21ካꬃ ምዳ አሳይ ማጫሳይነ ናይት አትሽን፥ እቻሹ ሙኩሉ ግዴስ።About five thousand men were fed, besides women and children.

22የሱሲ ባ ታማረት ዎጎሎን ገልድ ባፐ ስንꬃትድ አባፈ ሄ ፕንꬅ ፕናና መላ ኪትድ ባዉ ደርያ ሞይዛናዉ ጉየ አትስ።Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of Him to the other side, while He dismissed the crowds.

23ደርያ ሞይዝ ስሚድ ባርካ ዎሳናዉ እስ ዙማ ቦላ ከይስ። ሳአይ ቃምንካ እ ባርካ ያን ጋምእስ።After He had dismissed them, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray. When evening came, He was there alone,

24ሄ ዎደ ዎጎሎይ አባ ቦላ ብሽን ስንꬃ ባጋራ ጫርኮይ ደንድን ሆበይ ዎጎሉዋ ኡንኤꬅስ።but the boat was already far from land, buffeted by the waves because the wind was against it.

25ዎንትማꬃ ቦላ የሱሲ አባ ቦላ ሄመትሸ ባ ታማረታኮ ይስ።During the fourth watch of the night, Jesus went out to them, walking on the sea.

26እያ ታማረት፥ እ አባ ቦላ ሄመትሸ ባንታኮ የይሳ በእድ ያይዶሶና። ኤንትካ፥ “ሀይስ ሞይትለ” ግድ ያይድ ዋስዶሶና።When the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost!” they said, and cried out in fear.

27ሽን የሱሲ ኤለስድ፥ “አይኮይ ባዋ! ያዮፍተ! ታናባይ” ያግስ።But Jesus spoke up at once: “Take courage! It is I. Do not be afraid.”

28ጰፅሮስ እያኮ፥ “ጎዳዉ፥ ነና ግድኮ፥ ታኒ ሃꬃ ቦላራ ሄመታዳ ኔኮ ባና መላ ታና ኪታ” ያግስ።“Lord, if it is You,” Peter replied, “command me to come to You on the water.”

29የሱሲ ጰፅሮሳኮ፥ “ሃያ” ያግስ። ጰፅሮስ ዎጎሉዋፐ ዎꬍድ ሃꬃ ቦላራ ሄመትሸ የሱሳኮ ቡሱ ኦይክስ።“Come,” said Jesus. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water, and came toward Jesus.

30ሽን ዎልቃማ ጫርኩዋ በእድ ያይስ። ሃꬃን ምተተꬅ ኦይክዳ ዎደ፥ “ጎዳዉ! ታና አሻርክ!” ያግድ ዋስስ።But when he saw the strength of the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!”

31የሱሲ ኤለስድ ባ ኩሽያ የድ እያ ኦይክድ፥ “ነኖ፥ አማኖይ ፓጭዳይሶ አይስ ስꬋይ” ያግስ።Immediately Jesus reached out His hand and took hold of Peter. “You of little faith,” He said, “why did you doubt?”

32የሱሳራነ ጰፅሮሳራ ዎጎሉዋን ገልዳ ዎደ ጫርኮይ ስእ ግስ።And when they had climbed back into the boat, the wind died down.

33ዎጎሉዋ ግዶን ደእያ እያ ታማረት፥ “ኔኒ ቱማካ ፆሳ ናአ” ግድ ጎይንዶሶና።Then those who were in the boat worshiped Him, saying, “Truly You are the Son of God!”

34ኤንቲ አባ ፕንድ ገንሳሬፀ ቢታ ጋክዶሶና።When they had crossed over, they landed at Gennesaret.

35ሄ ቢታን ደእያ አሳይ የሱሳ ኤርዳ ዎደ ባንታ ሄራን ደእያ ጉታ ኡባ ኪታ የድዶሶና። አሳይ ሀርጋንቾታ ኡባ እያኮ ኤህዶሶና።And when the men of that place recognized Jesus, they sent word to all the surrounding region. People brought all the sick to Him

36ሀርጋንቾት እያ አፍላ ማጫራ ፃላላ ቦቻና መላ ዎስዶሶና። ቦችዳ ኡባይካ ፓፅዶሶና።and begged Him just to let them touch the fringe of His cloak. And all who touched Him were healed.
