1 ULB બહારથી આવી ને ગિલ્યાદ માં વસેલાં તિશ્બી એલિયા આહાબને કહ્યું કે, "ઇઝરાયલના ઈશ્વર યહોવાહ,જેઓ જીવંત છે, જેની સંમુખ હું ઊભો રહું છું, તેના જીવના સમ ખાઈને કહું છું કે હવેનાં વર્ષોમાં હું કહું નહિ ત્યાં સુધી ઝાકળ કે વરસાદ વરસશે નહિ." BSB BSB: Now Elijah the Tishbite, who was among the settlers of Gilead, said to Ahab, “As surely as the LORD, the God of Israel, lives, before whom I stand, there will be neither dew nor rain in these years except at my word!”
2 ULB ત્યાર બાદ એલિયા પાસે યહોવાહનું એવું વચન આવ્યું કે, BSB BSB: Then a revelation from the LORD came to Elijah:
3 ULB "આ જગ્યા છોડીને તું પૂર્વ તરફ જા, યર્દન નદીની બાજુમાં કરીંથના નાળાં પાસે સંતાઈ રહે. BSB BSB: “Leave here, turn eastward, and hide yourself by the Brook of Cherith, east of the Jordan.
4 ULB એમ થશે કે તું ઝરણાનું પાણી પીશે અને મેં કાગડાઓને આજ્ઞા કરી છે કે તે તારે માટે ત્યાં ખોરાક પૂરો પાડે." BSB BSB: And you are to drink from the brook, and I have commanded the ravens to feed you there.”
5 ULB તેથી તેણે યહોવાહની આજ્ઞા પ્રમાણે કર્યું. તે યર્દનની પૂર્વ તરફ આવેલા કરીંથના નાળાં પાસે ગયો. BSB BSB: So Elijah did what the LORD had told him, and he went and lived by the Brook of Cherith, east of the Jordan.
6 ULB કાગડાઓ સવાર સાંજ તેને રોટલી તથા માંસ લાવી આપતા હતા અને નાળાંમાંથી તે પાણી પીતો હતો. BSB BSB: The ravens would bring him bread and meat in the morning and evening, and he would drink from the brook.
7 ULB પણ થોડા સમય પછી, નાળાનું પાણી સુકાઈ ગયું. કેમ કે દેશમાં કોઈ સ્થળે વરસાદ વરસ્યો ન હતો. BSB BSB: Some time later, however, the brook dried up because there had been no rain in the land.
8 ULB પછી યહોવાહનું વચન એલિયા પાસે આવ્યું કે, BSB BSB: Then the word of the LORD came to Elijah:
9 ULB "તું ઊઠ અને સિદોન નગરની પાસેના સારફતમાં જઈને રહે. જો, ત્યાં એક વિધવા સ્ત્રી રહે છે, તેને તારું પોષણ કરવાની આજ્ઞા આપી છે." BSB BSB: “Get up and go to Zarephath of Sidon, and stay there. Behold, I have commanded a widow there to provide for you.”
10 ULB તેથી તે સારફત ચાલ્યો ગયો, જયારે તે નગરના પ્રવેશદ્વારે પહોંચ્યો ત્યારે તેણે એક વિધવા સ્ત્રીને લાકડાં વીણતી જોઈ, તેણે તેને બોલાવીને કહ્યું, "કૃપા કરીને મારે પીવા સારુ તું મને કૂજામાં થોડું પાણી લાવી આપ." BSB BSB: So Elijah got up and went to Zarephath. When he arrived at the city gate, there was a widow gathering sticks. Elijah called to her and said, “Please bring me a little water in a cup, so that I may drink.”
11 ULB તે પાણી લેવા જતી હતી એટલામાં એલિયાએ તેને હાંક મારીને કહ્યું, "મારે સારુ રોટલીનો ટુકડો પણ લેતી આવજે." BSB BSB: And as she was going to get it, he called to her and said, “Please bring me a piece of bread.”
12 ULB પણ તે વિધવાએ જવાબ આપ્યો, "તારા ઈશ્વર યહોવાહની હાજરીમાં હું કહું છું કે મારી પાસે રોટલી નથી પણ માટલીમાં ફક્ત એક મુઠ્ઠી લોટ અને કૂંડીમાં થોડું તેલ છે. જો હું અહીં થોડાં લાકડાં વીણવા આવી છું, જેથી હું જઈને મારે માટે અને મારા પુત્ર માટે કંઈ રાંધુ કે જેથી અમે તે ખાઈએ અને પછીથી ભૂખે મરીએ." BSB BSB: But she replied, “As surely as the LORD your God lives, I have no bread—only a handful of flour in a jar and a little oil in a jug. Look, I am gathering a couple of sticks to take home and prepare a meal for myself and my son, so that we may eat it and die.”
13 ULB એલિયાએ તેને કહ્યું, "ગભરાઈશ નહિ. જઈને તારા કહેવા પ્રમાણે કર, પણ પહેલાં મારા માટે તેમાંથી એક નાની રોટલી બનાવીને મારી પાસે અહીં લઈ આવ. પછી તારા માટે તથા તારા દીકરા માટે બનાવજે. BSB BSB: “Do not be afraid,” Elijah said to her. “Go and do as you have said. But first make me a small cake of bread from what you have, and bring it out to me. Afterward, make some for yourself and your son,
14 ULB કેમ કે ઇઝરાયલના ઈશ્વર યહોવાહ એવું કહે છે કે, 'દિવસે હું ભૂમિ પર વરસાદ વરસાવીશ, ત્યાં સુધી માટલીમાંનો લોટ અને કૂંડીમાંનું તેલ ખૂટી જશે નહિ.'" BSB BSB: for this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: ‘The jar of flour will not be exhausted and the jug of oil will not run dry until the day the LORD sends rain upon the face of the earth.’”
15 ULB આથી તેણે જઈને એલિયાના કહેવા મુજબ કર્યું. અને એલિયાએ, તે સ્ત્રીએ તથા તેના દીકરાએ ઘણા દિવસો સુધી ખાધું. BSB BSB: So she went and did according to the word of Elijah, and there was food every day for Elijah and the woman and her household.
16 ULB યહોવાહ પોતાનું જે વચન એલિયા મારફતે બોલ્યા હતા તે પ્રમાણે માટલીમાંનો લોટ તથા કૂંડીમાંનું તેલ ખૂટી ગયું નહિ. BSB BSB: The jar of flour was not exhausted and the jug of oil did not run dry, according to the word that the LORD had spoken through Elijah.
17 ULB ત્યાર બાદ તે સ્ત્રીનો દીકરો માંદો પડ્યો. તેની બીમારી એટલી બધી ભારે હતી કે આખરે તેનો શ્વાસ બંધ પડી ગયો. BSB BSB: Later, the son of the woman who owned the house became ill, and his sickness grew worse and worse, until no breath remained in him.
18 ULB તેથી તેની માતાએ એલિયાને કહ્યું, "હે ઈશ્વરભક્ત તારે મારી વિરુદ્ધ શું છે? તું મારાં પાપનું સ્મરણ કરાવવાં તથા મારા દીકરાને મારી નાખવા માટે મારી પાસે આવ્યો છે!" BSB BSB: “O man of God,” said the woman to Elijah, “what have you done to me? Have you come to remind me of my iniquity and cause the death of my son?”
19 ULB પછી એલિયાએ તેને જવાબ આપ્યો, "તારો દીકરો મને આપ." તેણે તે છોકરાંને તેની માતાની ગોદમાંથી લીધો. અને જે ઓરડીમાં તે પોતે રહેતો હતો ત્યાં તેને માળ પર લઈને પોતાના પલંગ પર સુવડાવ્યો. BSB BSB: But Elijah said to her, “Give me your son.” So he took him from her arms, carried him to the upper room where he was staying, and laid him on his own bed.
20 ULB તેણે યહોવાહને પ્રાર્થના કરતાં કહ્યું, "હે મારા ઈશ્વર યહોવાહ, જે વિધવાને ત્યાં હું રહું છું, તેના દીકરાને મારી નાખીને તેના પર તમે આપત્તિ લાવ્યા છો શું?" BSB BSB: Then he cried out to the LORD, “O LORD my God, have You also brought tragedy on this widow who has opened her home to me, by causing her son to die?”
21 ULB પછી એલિયાએ તે છોકરા પર સૂઈ જઈને ત્રણ વાર યહોવાહને પ્રાર્થના કરી કે, "ઓ મારા ઈશ્વર યહોવાહ, હું તમને વિનંતિ કરું છું, કૃપા કરી આ બાળકનો જીવ તેનામાં પાછો આવવા દો." BSB BSB: Then he stretched himself out over the child three times and cried out to the LORD, “O LORD my God, please let this boy’s life return to him!”
22 ULB યહોવાહે એલિયાની વિનંતિ સાંભળી; તે બાળકનો જીવ તેનામાં પાછો આવ્યો અને તે સજીવન થયો. BSB BSB: And the LORD listened to the voice of Elijah, and the child’s life returned to him, and he lived.
23 ULB એલિયા તે બાળકને લઈને ઉપરની ઓરડીમાંથી નીચેના ઘરમાં આવ્યો; તે છોકરાંને તેની માતાને સોંપીને બોલ્યો કે, "જો, તારો દીકરો જીવતો છે." BSB BSB: Then Elijah took the child, brought him down from the upper room into the house, and gave him to his mother. “Look, your son is alive,” Elijah declared.
24 ULB તે સ્ત્રીએ એલિયાને કહ્યું, "હવે હું જાણું છું કે તું ઈશ્વરભક્ત છે અને તારા મુખમાં યહોવાહનું જે વચન છે તે સત્ય છે." BSB BSB: Then the woman said to Elijah, “Now I know that you are a man of God and that the word of the LORD from your mouth is truth.”
