7 HGLT और भीतर से ही उत्तर देते हुए, वह कहे,‘मुझे परेशान न कर। अब तो द्वार भी बन्द हो गया है, और मेरे बालक बिछौने पर मेरे साथ हैं। अतः मैं उठकर तुझे देने में सक्षम नहीं हूँ।’ BSB BSB: And suppose the one inside answers, ‘Do not bother me. My door is already shut, and my children and I are in bed. I cannot get up to give you anything.’
8 HGLT मैं तुम से कहता हूँ, भले ही यदि वह उसे उठकर इसलिए न दे क्योंकि वह उसका मित्र है, तौभी उसके हठ के कारण, उठकर, वह उसे जितनी आवश्यकता हो उतनी उसे देगा। BSB BSB: I tell you, even though he will not get up to provide for him because of his friendship, yet because of the man’s persistence, he will get up and give him as much as he needs.

10 HGLT क्योंकि जो कोई माँगता है उसे मिलता है; और जो ढूँढ़ता है वह पाता है; और जो खटखटाता है, उसके लिये इसे खोल दिया जाएगा। BSB BSB: For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.
11 HGLT और तुम में से ऐसा कौन पिता है, कि उसका पुत्र मछली माँगे, और मछली के बजाए, वह उसे साँप दे? BSB BSB: What father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead?
12 HGLT या वह एक अण्डा भी माँगे, तो वह उसे बिच्छू दे? BSB BSB: Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion?
13 HGLT इसीलिए, यदि तुम तुम बुरे होकर अपने बच्चों को अच्छे उपहार देना जानते हो, तो तुम्हारा स्वर्ग में विराजमान पिता अपने माँगनेवालों को बहुतायत से पवित्र आत्मा क्यों नहीं देगा?” BSB BSB: So if you who are evil know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”
14 HGLT और वह एक गूँगी दुष्टात्मा को निकाल रहा था। और ऐसा हुआ कि, जब दुष्टात्मा निकल गई, तो वह गूँगा व्यक्ति बोलने लगा, और वह भीड़ अचम्भित हो गई। BSB BSB: One day Jesus was driving out a demon that was mute. And when the demon was gone, the man who had been mute spoke. The crowds were amazed,
15 HGLT परन्तु उनमें से कुछ ने कहा,“यह तो दुष्टात्माओं के प्रधान, बालजबूल के द्वारा, दुष्टात्माओं को निकालता है।” BSB BSB: but some of them said, “It is by Beelzebul, the prince of the demons, that He drives out demons.”
16 HGLT और उससे स्वर्ग से एक चिन्ह की खोज में, अन्यों ने उसकी परीक्षा की। BSB BSB: And others tested Him by demanding a sign from heaven.

19 HGLT परन्तु यदि मैं बालजबूल के द्वारा दुष्टात्माओं को निकालता हूँ, तो तुम्हारी सन्तान किसके द्वारा उनको निकालते हैं? इसी कारण से, वे ही तुम्हारे न्यायी ठहरेंगे। BSB BSB: And if I drive out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your sons drive them out? So then, they will be your judges.
21 HGLT जब बलवन्त मनुष्य सम्पूर्ण हथियार बाँधे हुए अपने आँगन की रखवाली कर रहा हो, तो उसकी सम्पत्ति पर शान्ति रहती है, BSB BSB: When a strong man, fully armed, guards his house, his possessions are secure.
22 HGLT परन्तु जब कोई और उससे बढ़कर बलवन्त उस पर आक्रमण करता है, तो वह उस पर जयवंत होगा, और उसके वे हथियार छीन लेगा जिन पर उसका भरोसा था, और उसकी लूट को बाँट देगा। BSB BSB: But when someone stronger attacks and overpowers him, he takes away the armor in which the man trusted, and then he divides up his plunder.
23 HGLT जो मेरे साथ नहीं है वह मेरे विरोध में है, और जो मेरे साथ इकट्ठा नहीं करता वह बिखेरता है। BSB BSB: He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters.
24 HGLT जब मनुष्य में से अशुद्ध आत्मा निकल जाती है, तो वह विश्राम ढूँढ़ती हुई सूखी जगहों में फिरती है, और नहीं पाने पर, वह कहती है,‘जहाँ से मैं आई हूँ मैं अपने उसी घर में लौट जाऊँगी।’ BSB BSB: When an unclean spirit comes out of a man, it passes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it. Then it says, ‘I will return to the house I left.’

26 HGLT तब वह जाकर अपने से भी बढ़कर बुरी सात अन्य आत्माओं को अपने साथ ले आती है और वे उसमें प्रवेश करके, वहाँ वास कर लेती हैं। और उस मनुष्य की अंतिम दशा पहली दशा से भी बुरी हो जाती है।” BSB BSB: Then it goes and brings seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and dwell there. And the final plight of that man is worse than the first.”
27 HGLT और ऐसा हुआ कि, जब वह इन बातों को कह ही रहा था, तो भीड़ में से किसी स्त्री ने, अपने स्वर को ऊँचा करके, उससे कहा,“धन्य है वह गर्भ जिसने तुझे पाला और वे स्तन जिन्होंने तेरा पोषण किया।” BSB BSB: As Jesus was saying these things, a woman in the crowd raised her voice and said, “Blessed is the womb that bore You, and blessed are the breasts that nursed You!”
28 HGLT परन्तु उसने कहा,“बल्कि, धन्य वे हैं जो परमेश्वर का वचन सुनते और उसे मानते हैं।” BSB BSB: But He replied, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.”
29 HGLT और जब भीड़ बढ़ती जा रही थी, तो उसने कहना आरम्भ किया,“यह पीढ़ी एक बुरी पीढ़ी है। वे चिन्ह ढूँढ़ते हैं, परन्तु योना के चिन्ह को छोड़ कर उनको कोई चिन्ह नहीं दिया जाएगा। BSB BSB: As the crowds were increasing, Jesus said, “This is a wicked generation. It demands a sign, but none will be given it except the sign of Jonah.
30 HGLT क्योंकि जिस प्रकार से नीनवे के लोगों के लिये योना चिन्ह ठहरा, वैसे ही मनुष्य का पुत्र भी इस पीढ़ी के लिये ठहरेगा। BSB BSB: For as Jonah was a sign to the Ninevites, so the Son of Man will be a sign to this generation.
31 HGLT दक्षिण की रानी न्याय के दिन इस पीढ़ी के लोगों के साथ उठ खड़ी होगी और उन्हें दोषी ठहराएगी, क्योंकि वह पृथ्वी की छोर से सुलैमान की बुद्धि सुनने को आई थी, और देखो, यहाँ वह है जो सुलैमान से भी बड़ा है। BSB BSB: The Queen of the South will rise at the judgment with the men of this generation and condemn them; for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and now One greater than Solomon is here.

33 HGLT कोई भी, दीया जलाकर, उसे छिपे स्थान में नहीं रखता है, और न ही पैमाने के नीचे, परन्तु दीवट पर रखता है, ताकि भीतर आनेवाले प्रकाश पाएँ। BSB BSB: No one lights a lamp and puts it in a cellar or under a basket. Instead, he sets it on a stand, so those who enter can see the light.
34 HGLT तेरी आँख शरीर का दीया है। जब तेरी आँख स्वस्थ है, तो तेरा सारा शरीर भी प्रकाशित है। परन्तु जब वह बुरी है, तो तेरा शरीर भी अंधेरा है। BSB BSB: Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eyes are good, your whole body also is full of light. But when they are bad, your body is full of darkness.
35 HGLT इसलिए, सावधान रह कि जो प्रकाश तुझ में है वह अंधेरा नहीं है। BSB BSB: Be careful, then, that the light within you is not darkness.
36 HGLT इसलिए यदि तेरा सारा शरीर प्रकाशित हो, और उसका कोई अंग अंधेरा न रहे, तो वह पूरा का पूरा ऐसा प्रकाशित होगा, जैसा उस समय होता है जब दीया अपनी चमक से तुझे प्रकाशित करता है।” BSB BSB: So if your whole body is full of light, with no part of it in darkness, you will be radiant, as though a lamp were shining on you.”
37 HGLT और जब वह बातें कर चुका, तो एक फरीसी ने उससे विनती की कि वह उसके साथ भोजन करे। वह भीतर जाकर भोजन करने को बैठ गया। BSB BSB: As Jesus was speaking, a Pharisee invited Him to dine with him; so He went in and reclined at the table.
38 HGLT और उस फरीसी ने, यह देखकर, अचम्भा किया कि उसने भोजन से पहले हाथ- पैर नहीं धोये। BSB BSB: But the Pharisee was surprised to see that Jesus did not first wash before the meal.

40 HGLT अरे निर्बुद्धियों! जिसने बाहर का भाग बनाया क्या उसी ने भीतर का भाग नहीं बनाया? BSB BSB: You fools! Did not the One who made the outside make the inside as well?
41 HGLT परन्तु जो भीतर है उसे दान कर दो, और देखो, सब कुछ तुम्हारे लिये शुद्ध हो जाएगा। BSB BSB: But give as alms the things that are within you, and behold, everything will be clean for you.
42 HGLT परन्तु हे फरीसियों तुम पर हाय, क्योंकि तुम पोदीने और सुदाब का, और वाटिका की हर एक जड़ी- बूटी का दसमांश देते हो, परन्तु तुम न्याय की और परमेश्वर के प्रेम की उपेक्षा करते हो। परन्तु यह आवश्यक है कि इन बातों को भी करें और उन बातों की उपेक्षा भी न करें। BSB BSB: Woe to you Pharisees! For you pay tithes of mint, rue, and every herb, but you disregard justice and the love of God. You should have practiced the latter without neglecting the former.
43 HGLT हे फरीसियों तुम पर हाय, क्योंकि तुम आराधनालयों में प्रथम आसनों से और बाजारों में नमस्कार से प्रीति रखते हो। BSB BSB: Woe to you Pharisees! For you love the chief seats in the synagogues and the greetings in the marketplaces.
44 HGLT तुम पर हाय, क्योंकि तुम अनदेखी कब्रों के समान हो, और वे मनुष्य जो उनके ऊपर चलते- फिरते हैं उनके विषय में नहीं जानते।” BSB BSB: Woe to you! For you are like unmarked graves, which men walk over without even noticing.”
45 HGLT तब उत्तर देते हुए, व्यवस्थापकों में से एक ने उससे कहा,“हे गुरु, इन बातों के कहने से, तू हमारा भी अपमान करता है।” BSB BSB: One of the experts in the law told Him, “Teacher, when You say these things, You insult us as well.”
46 HGLT परन्तु उसने कहा,“हे व्यवस्थापकों तुम पर भी हाय! क्योंकि तुम लोगों पर ऐसे बोझ लादते हो जिनको उठाना कठिन है, परन्तु तुम स्वयं उन बोझों को अपनी एक उंगली से भी नहीं छूते। BSB BSB: “Woe to you as well, experts in the law!” He replied. “For you weigh men down with heavy burdens, but you yourselves will not lift a finger to lighten their load.
47 HGLT तुम पर हाय, तुम उन भविष्यद्वक्ताओं की कब्रें तो बनाते हो, परन्तु उन्हें तुम्हारे पिताओं ने ही मार डाला था। BSB BSB: Woe to you! For you build tombs for the prophets, but it was your fathers who killed them.
48 HGLT इसलिए तुम अपने पिताओं के कामों की गवाही देते हो और उन पर सहमति रखते हो, क्योंकि उन्होंने तो उनको मार डाला था और तुम कब्रें बनाते हो। BSB BSB: So you are witnesses consenting to the deeds of your fathers: They killed the prophets, and you build their tombs.

53 HGLT उसके वहाँ से निकलने के पश्चात, शास्त्री और फरीसी उसका घोर विरोध करने लगे और बहुत सी बातों पर उस से वाद- विवाद करने लगे, BSB BSB: As Jesus went on from there, the scribes and Pharisees began to oppose Him bitterly and to ply Him with questions about many things,
54 HGLT और उसके मुँह की किसी बात से उसे फँसाने के लिए प्रतीक्षा करने लगे। BSB BSB: waiting to catch Him in something He might say.
